Transmigrated as the Villain’s Sword - Chapter 9
The evening mist swirled as the two returned to Lingyun City. The sky had already darkened, but the city was ablaze with lanterns. The crowds on the streets were bustling, seemingly even livelier than during the day.
Back at the inn, Guan Luowei began communicating with the Demon Emperor. Having nothing to do, Ling Chenyan struck up a conversation with the System.
[Sys, who is that monk? Why is he more capable than you, being able to let me communicate directly with the Big Villain?]
[More capable than me?!] The System bristled. [He’s just relying on the Heaven-Prison Cage to let you communicate directly, that’s all.]
[Alright, alright,] Ling Chenyan hummed. [You’re the most capable. So, who is he?]
[He is Zen Master Guixu,] the System said crossly. [The most talented disciple of the Buddhist Sect in the last hundred years. Unfortunately, he was trapped by love and became the decadent mess you see now.]
[Zen Master Guixu?] Ling Chenyan tried to recall the name. It sounded familiar, but it wasn’t important. Compared to gossip, she wanted to know more about the Heaven-Prison Cage. she asked: [He doesn’t matter. First, tell me what the Heaven-Prison Cage is.]
System: [The Heaven-Prison Cage is one of the Four Great Artifacts. According to the original text, the Four Great Artifacts are actually fragments of an ancient divine sword that broke apart after a war. They are the Heaven-Prison Cage, the Deceptive God Zither, the Heart-Querying Mirror, and the Evil-Smiting Heavenly Book. Over time, three of these artifacts fell into the hands of the world.]
[As you saw, the Heaven-Prison Cage is with the Buddhist Sect, bound to Zen Master Guixu. The Deceptive God Zither is currently with the Lingxiao Immortal Sect—no news of it being bound yet, but in the future, it will recognize the heroine Lin Qingwan as its master. The Heart-Querying Mirror belongs to the Snake Clan; its holder is said to be Medusa, one of the male lead’s harem members.]
[As for the last one, the Evil-Smiting Heavenly Book, it’s not in anyone’s hands yet. It’s still in the Silent Moon Secret Realm. That realm opens in about three years, and the male lead will participate and successfully obtain it. Eventually, all four artifacts will be gathered by the male lead to wipe out the Demon Race and cleanse the world.]
Ling Chenyan’s lip twitched. [I feel like if the male lead died, the world would be much cleaner.]
System: *[…] *
Ling Chenyan: [So, is the reason the Big Villain hasn’t moved against the male lead since her rebirth, despite being able to kill him, related to the Deceptive God Zither?]
[Correct,] the System replied. [The Zither’s greatest effect is weakening an opponent’s strength. Under its influence, the Witch can only use sixty percent of her power, and it comes with a ten-second immobilization effect. That’s why she doesn’t dare act rashly.]
Ling Chenyan frowned. She thought that unless the male lead stayed inside the sect gates forever, it would be easy for Guan Luowei to kill him.
Seeing that it was still early, Ling Chenyan felt bored staying in the room. While Guan Luowei was still busy with her transmissions, she sneakily slipped out the door.
Guan Luowei caught a glimpse of the sneaky figure out of the corner of her eye. With a flick of her finger, she attached a thread of demonic silk to the silver sword before safely looking away.
On the other side, Ling Chenyan’s nose twitched. She caught an alluring scent of wine. Following the aroma, she floated all the way to a cellar entrance. Someone was just about to enter to retrieve wine, so Ling Chenyan followed them in smoothly.
Once the workers left, Ling Chenyan peeked out from behind a door. “Sys, look! So much wine!”
System: [Granted, but how did you even smell it?]
Ling Chenyan chuckled. “I don’t know. Ever since I became a sword, I feel like I can always pick up strange fragrances.”
The System was puzzled, but watching Ling Chenyan already drifting toward the wine jars, it silently covered its eyes.
The cellar was packed with wine, but Ling Chenyan clearly chose the most expensive batch to mess with. Swimming from one jar to another, she drank with reckless abandon. Before long, the entire sword was woozy and disoriented.
The System tried to intervene: [Host, this behavior is wrong. This is stealing!]
“Nonsense,” Ling Chenyan argued. “I’m clearly robbing the rich to give to the poor.”
System: [Robbing others to provide for yourself?]
Ling Chenyan giggled and offered a generous compliment: “So smart.”
System: *[…] *
The System thought about it. This shop was backed by the Lingxiao Immortal Sect. The owner was one of their people who used the sect’s influence to oppress commoners. Most of this wine was obtained through such means. Rather than letting them use it to curry favor with the Sect, it was better for her host to waste it.
The System convinced itself, completely unaware that it had been led astray by Ling Chenyan. It now genuinely felt that the male lead and the Lingxiao Sect were no good.
After messing with the wine, Ling Chenyan moved to a stone wall. With a gentle swipe of her blade, she sliced through the thick wall as if it were tofu.
The wall collapsed, and Ling Chenyan was nearly blinded by the room full of gold and jewels.
She chuckled to the System: “Sys, we’re rich! From now on, if I have a bowl of rice to eat, you’ll have a bowl to wash!”
System: […That’s really not necessary.]
It watched as Ling Chenyan wobbled over to the pile of treasures, dug through some gold, and pulled out an inconspicuous small box.
The System was confused: [Host, with all this jewelry, why take that shabby box?]
“Intuition tells me the things in here are more valuable than the jewels,” Ling Chenyan said with conviction.
After taking the box, she moved to a pile of porcelain cases: “Grade 7 Precious Spirit-Condensing Grass, Grade 6 God-Awakening Dew, Grade 5 Avatar Maple Branch… Sluuurp, rich! We’re rich!”
Ling Chenyan grabbed everything in a frenzy, then realized she couldn’t carry it all. Her eyes rolled as she said to the System: “Sys, quick, give me a storage artifact. You definitely have one, right!”
The System wanted to say no, but Ling Chenyan added: “Let me borrow it. I’ll split the treasure with you fifty-fifty.”
The System became instantly righteous: [What’s this about ‘borrowing’? We’re family. It’s yours.]
Ling Chenyan took the storage device, packed everything in, and finally left the secret room satisfied. She easily broke through the cellar exit and wobbled her way back.
Inside the room, Guan Luowei was discussing her next move with Tong Di. Suddenly, the door was bumped open. A silver sword stumbled toward her, giggling foolishly: “Master! I’m back! Did you miss me?!”
Guan Luowei froze. On the other end of the transmission, Tong Di’s eyes widened. He whispered, “Whoa, I didn’t know Her Highness played so… ‘creatively’.”
Guan Luowei: “…”
Her expression turned cold as she glared at Tong Di. “We’re done for today. We’ll talk later.”
Seeing her face, Tong Di immediately gave a sly grin. “Understood, I totally understand.”
He cut the transmission instantly before Guan Luowei could erupt.
Guan Luowei looked at the darkened screen with a trace of helplessness. She turned to the culprit who had ruined her reputation. Her nose twitched, and she frowned. “Where did you get this wine?”
Ling Chenyan giggled but didn’t answer. She leaned in, the blade almost pressing against Guan Luowei’s face. “Master, do you want a wife?”
Guan Luowei moved back inconspicuously, leaning against the headboard. Her black hair spilled over her shoulders as she crossed her arms, her long lashes lifting to look at the drunken sword. She asked with slight confusion, “What is a ‘wife’?”
Ling Chenyan thought for a bit. “A wife means a ‘Dao Companion,’ but it’s a bit different. A wife refers specifically to a female Dao Companion.”
Guan Luowei arched an eyebrow. “I don’t want one.”
“Don’t be like that! Think about it again.” Seeing the flat rejection, the silver sword started acting stubborn. “You definitely need one. I can introduce you!”
“Introduce me?” Guan Luowei looked at the sword with a half-smile. The candlelight hit her porcelain skin, making the red beauty mark look even more vivid.
Ling Chenyan was dazzled by her beauty. She puffed out her chest (metaphorically) and swore: “Yes, the one I introduce will be the absolute best, best, best, best Dao Companion in heaven and earth.”
“Oh?” Guan Luowei asked. “Who are you going to introduce?”
Seeing Guan Luowei seemingly softening, Ling Chenyan straightened her blade immediately: “Me, of course!”
“You?” A hint of amusement appeared in Guan Luowei’s eyes. She sized the sword up from top to bottom before curling her lips. “Then tell me, what’s so good about you?”
“Great!” Ling Chenyan felt her “sword-life” had hope. She poured all her energy into her self-introduction: “First, I am very cute and can bring you much happiness. Second, I am a sword under Master’s command; I am the most obedient. If you call, I’ll return to your side immediately—no need to worry about me running off with someone else. Finally, I’ve prepared a dowry!”
With that, she shook her blade. Clatter! A massive pile of gold, silver, and rare herbs poured out. Seeing that the bed was about to overflow, Ling Chenyan rolled to the floor and continued pouring.
“Master, look! These are all for you. Where I come from, this is worth at least ten million. I’m much better than those men—they won’t even part with a hundred thousand for a dowry. I’m a hundred times better than them.”
From the moment the sword started spitting out treasures like beans, Guan Luowei’s eyes were filled with astonishment. She looked at the treasure-spewing sword with a complex expression and sighed silently.
So, during the time she was out, who else became her victim?
At the same time, the System was frantically screaming in Ling Chenyan’s head: [Host! Snap out of it! Do you know what you’re doing?! Half of those treasures are mine! Why are you giving them all to the Witch! Host, wake up!]
The System was in tears. If it had known this would be the outcome, it never would have let her drink so much.
Ling Chenyan completely blocked out the screaming System. After dumping everything out, she walked up to Guan Luowei with a small box, acting coaxing: “Look, this is Grade 7 Precious Spirit-Condensing Grass. It’s great for cultivation. This is for you too!”
Guan Luowei had regained her composure, but seeing the Grade 7 herb, she was still startled.
Though she had brought her cultivation back from her past life, it was a breakthrough achieved at the brink of death. It was unstable, and the side effects of that forced breakthrough had followed her back.
This herb would indeed be of immense use to her.
Guan Luowei looked at the sword with a complex gaze. So, she knows everything. She had many chances to take my life, yet she never did.
She bit her lip, looking at the sword urging her to take the herb. Her eyes flickered as she reached out and took it. “Thank you,” she whispered.
Seeing her accept it, Ling Chenyan cheered. “Then from now on, you’re my wife!”
As the words fell, a faint blush appeared on Guan Luowei’s porcelain cheeks. She nodded helplessly, a playful smile appearing on her lips. “Alright.”
The System watched the silly sword circling Guan Luowei happily, and then at the confident Witch with that playful smile. It closed its eyes, unable to look.
What can I do with this idiot host? I can’t wait to see what face she’ll make tomorrow when she has to face the ‘wife’ she proposed to.
Ling Chenyan, living in the moment, had no such worries. she happily stored the room full of treasures and then said to Guan Luowei with total seriousness: “Good. Since we are now ‘wife and wife,’ we shall sleep together tonight!”
Guan Luowei smiled. “Okay.”
Ling Chenyan dove into the covers. Immediately, the quilt was sliced into two. The cotton stuffing puffed out, and a strand of it landed right on the tip of Guan Luowei’s nose.
Guan Luowei: “…”
She looked at the already fast-asleep silver sword and shook her head helplessly.
The next day, Ling Chenyan was woken up by a heart-wrenching scream from outside.
“Search! Search every room! I’ll tear that thief into pieces when I find him! My thousand-year flower wine, my savings, my treasures! Waaaaah!”
She opened her eyes groggily and looked down to see the quilt split in half.
Ling Chenyan: “…Did someone come to attack me last night?”
As she spoke, she felt someone move beside her. She turned her head to see Guan Luowei leaning against the headboard, a half-smile on her face.
“Awake?”
Author’s Note:
Ling Chenyan: Who am I, where am I, what have I done?
System: You’re a sword, you’re in the Big Villain’s bed, and you tricked the villain into being your wife.
Ling Chenyan: …Help.
