What's Wrong with Spoiling You? [Entertainment Industry] - Chapter 12
Before long, the fresh vegetables and raw meat arrived. Tan Yun quickly grabbed a skewer of chicken wings and set it up to grill. “I’ll grill these for you.”
Yun Bo mixed the dipping sauces with a smile. “Well, I won’t refuse such kindness. Xiao Yun’s grilled food must be delicious.”
Tan Yun chuckled and rotated the skewer while Yun Bo cooperatively brushed on the sauce.
As the aroma wafted up, Tan Yun secretly glanced at the beauty’s expression, relieved to see no signs of displeasure, and lowered her head with a silly grin.
“Xiao Yun, want some potatoes?” Yun Bo picked up some potatoes nearby and placed them on the grill, gently turning them with her fingers.
The chicken wings, glazed with oil, turned a golden brown. Tan Yun couldn’t resist licking her lips in anticipation.
“Xiao Yun.” The two words were uttered with exceptional tenderness.
Tan Yun looked up to find Yun Bo’s eyes filled with warmth, her thin lips parting slightly.
“They’re ready. You can eat now.”
By the time Tan Yun snapped out of her daze, a white porcelain plate had appeared before her, neatly arranged with slices of potatoes, each evenly coated with sauce and mustard.
Yun Bo took the chicken wings from her hands. “Go ahead and eat before you start drooling.”
Tan Yun wiped her mouth with a napkin from the table and picked up a piece of potato to taste.
“Yun Bo, it’s delicious. I love it.”
Watching her exaggerated expression, Yun Bo felt a warmth in her heart. She took the grilled wings off the skewer, giving one to each of them.
Too shy to start first, Tan Yun stared intently as Yun Bo picked up her wing and took a bite. Her eyes widened, her heart in her throat, as if watching a gourmet savoring her creation.
After a while, Yun Bo spat out the bones and smiled. “Very tasty. Xiao Yun, you’ve got skills.”
Tan Yun closed her eyes and exhaled, mentally cheering “Yes!” before finally picking up the wing from her plate and taking a bite.
It really was delicious. After finishing the whole piece, she even sucked her fingers clean and picked up more ingredients to grill.
Tan Yun took charge of the grilling, and soon the table was cleared of all the skewers. After paying the bill, the waiter handed each of them a card and pointed to a wall. “Would you two like to leave a memory on our couples’ wall?”
Yun Bo tilted her head and looked at Tan Yun. “Xiao Yun, should we write something?”
Tan Yun blushed, wondering if writing something together would mean they were in that kind of relationship.
The waiter added, “Friends can write too.”
This immediately dampened Tan Yun’s mood. She thought the waiter had terrible timing—clearly, “couples” was more appropriate, but they had to add that unnecessary line.
Shooting a resentful glance at the waiter, she took the card from his hand. Yun Bo, amused, also took a card and wrote two lines.
After leaving the restaurant, Tan Yun felt grateful that Cheng Xiaoai had picked this outfit for her—it perfectly hid her round, full belly.
“Which hotel are you staying at? I’ll take you back.”
Tan Yun wanted her to take her back, but Cheng Xiaoai didn’t know about this. “I need to find Xiaoai. I’m afraid she’s still waiting for me.”
Yun Bo considerately took out her phone from her knit bag and handed it to her. “Call her and ask.”
“Okay.”
Not far away, Cheng Xiaoai, shivering from the cold, muttered under her breath, “Idiot,” before swiping to answer the call.
“Xiaoai, where are you?” Tan Yun looked around, worried since she hadn’t seen her by the beach earlier.
“I’m drinking with a few guys, you go ahead back first.” Cheng Xiaoai hugged her arms. “You should hurry back.”
Tan Yun reminded her a couple more times before handing the phone back to Yun Bo. “Xiaoai said I should go back on my own.”
“I know.” Yun Bo took out a neatly folded shawl from her bag and draped it over Tan Yun’s shoulders with both hands. Her gaze lingered somewhere as she silently mouthed two words: “Thank you.”
The shawl carried the scent of jasmine, and Tan Yun secretly took a whiff.
“Yun Bo, I want to ask you for a favor.” Tan Yun thought today would be the day to bring up the modeling request but worried she might seem too pushy.
Yun Bo looked at her, eyes smiling. “What makes you think I wouldn’t be delighted to help you?”
Tan Yun’s face turned as red as a freshly grilled lobster. She looked up earnestly and said, “I want to ask you to be my model.”
“A model?” Yun Bo tilted her head, brows slightly furrowed as if hesitant.
Tan Yun clutched the shawl. “If… if you’re too busy—”
Yun Bo cut her off gently. “Xiao Yun, if I refuse, you can keep begging me.” Just like before.
Tan Yun was startled by her words. “I thought you’d be unhappy.”
“How could I be?” My greatest joy has always been watching you bounce around me.
“Then… Yun Bo, will you be my model?” Tan Yun twisted her fingers, her face burning so hot it might as well have been steaming.
Cool fingertips brushed her cheek as Yun Bo teased, “What’s in it for me?”
Tan Yun racked her brain, knowing a beauty like her wouldn’t lack money. “How about I do your housework? I’m hardworking and resilient, in great health.”
She sniffled before continuing, “I’m super capable—I can wash your qipaos, do your laundry, and I even make clothes. I’ll take care of all your clothing needs from now on.”
Yun Bo felt she’d hit the jackpot. The little girl was still the same, making grand promises on the spot.
“Hardworking and resilient, huh? Then you can handle my housework.”
“You agree?” Tan Yun gasped, covering her mouth. She spun around and stood before Yun Bo, extending her hand formally. “Pleasure doing business.”
“Pleasure doing business.” Yun Bo took her hand and didn’t let go.
The entire way back, Tan Yun’s heartbeat thundered in both their ears, their shadows stretching long behind them.
Yun Bo had once wondered what holding hands would feel like. She never imagined it would be this addictive—so soft she couldn’t bear to let go.
At the hotel entrance, Yun Bo released her hand. “We’re here.”
Tan Yun fiddled with a corner of the shawl. “Yun Bo, let me wash this for you?”
Yun Bo saw right through her but humored her anyway. “Alright.”
Tan Yun looked up, the words stuck in her throat. She wanted to say, “Since we get along so well, why don’t we be together?”
A crack formed at the corner of her lips, letting the wind escape recklessly.
Yun Bo glanced down at her vibrating phone. “I need to take this.”
She stepped away and answered.
“Youyou’s frantic voice came through: “Duanduan’s in trouble.”
Frowning, she turned back to Tan Yun. “Go on up. It’s windy out—don’t catch a cold.”
Their clasped hands parted. Tan Yun consoled herself: “It’s fine. There’s always next time.”
