What's Wrong with Spoiling You? [Entertainment Industry] - Chapter 16
Tan Yun’s dimmed eyes suddenly brightened as she took a tissue from her bag and placed it in her palm.
Yun Bo’s eyes curved into crescents, the tissue trembling slightly on her open hand.
In that instant, Tan Yun understood her meaning and picked up the tissue to gently wipe her hand.
Gu Yuan, watching their interaction from the side, felt increasingly uncomfortable and wanted to disrupt their moment. “You probably don’t know,” she said, “Tan Yun was once deceived by someone.”
Tan Yun visibly flinched, glaring at Gu Yuan.
“Scared now?” Gu Yuan laughed triumphantly. “Do you know how badly she was tricked? She was almost sold off.”
Yun Bo’s brows furrowed as she shot Gu Yuan a cold glance, her aura turning icy.
Tan Yun turned her head slightly, about to withdraw her hand, but Yun Bo firmly grasped it. Seeing only tenderness in Yun Bo’s eyes, Tan Yun asked uncertainly, “Yun… Yun Bo?”
“It’s okay now,” Yun Bo said, squeezing her hand tighter. Tan Yun opened her mouth, but the words caught in her throat.
“I came too late. I’m sorry.”
Gu Yuan was taken aback by Yun Bo’s reaction and asked suspiciously, “Did you hire her or something?”
“Why don’t you try hiring someone like her?” Tan Yun steadied herself, understanding that Yun Bo wanted to tell her the past was behind them.
Gu Yuan scrutinized Yun Bo—a poised beauty in a qipao, clearly well-off and not in need of money. But why would someone like her help Tan Yun, a lesbian?
After a moment, Gu Yuan seemed to have an epiphany. “Oh, so you’re a lesbian too. No wonder you’re helping her.”
Seeing the disdain in Gu Yuan’s eyes, Tan Yun nearly lunged at her to fight.
Beside her, Yun Bo affectionately tucked a loose strand of hair behind Tan Yun’s ear, then lifted her hands and, to everyone’s astonishment, pressed a reverent kiss to them.
“What’s wrong with being gay? We don’t steal, rob, or deceive,” Yun Bo said, her smile warm enough to melt snow. “We only love that one person in our lifetime.”
Tan Yun closed her hand, as if holding onto that kiss. Something welled up in her eyes, as if she’d waited years to hear those words.
“She can love you more deeply and tenderly than any man could,” Yun Bo said softly, echoing the words Tan Yun had once spoken—words that had the power to soften anyone who heard them.
Gu Yuan was left speechless, struggling to retort. “Disgusting. It’s just disgusting.”
Yun Bo tilted her head, looking at Gu Yuan with pity. “Disgusting? When you view the world through tainted eyes, everything becomes disgusting.”
Gu Yuan clutched her bag tightly. “Y—you’re twisting words!”
“Then consider me twisting words,” Yun Bo said, taking Tan Yun’s hand as they walked out of the restaurant.
…
Tan Yun glanced at the advertisement on the commercial billboard before quickly lowering her head. “Yun Bo, I…”
Yun Bo leaned against the railing. “You’re usually so talkative. Why so quiet today?”
Tan Yun bit her lip. “How can I say it? People will just look at me differently.”
“You don’t steal, rob, or deceive. Why would they look at you differently?”
“Because I like girls.” A tear escaped her eye, falling to the ground and vanishing.
“Xiao Yun,” Yun Bo said, her voice gentle. “Have you ever deceived anyone’s feelings?”
Tan Yun shook her head, tears falling like raindrops. “No, ever since I realized I liked girls, I’ve deliberately kept my distance from female classmates and never dated any boys.”
Yun Bo knew she was crying. It had always been like this in the past—whenever she spoke harshly, Tan Yun would lower her head and cry, only to lift it again later with a smile as if nothing had happened.
Back then, no matter how much it pained her, Yun Bo never reached out, afraid that extending a hand would plunge her into an abyss of endless torment.
But now, with Tan Yun standing right in front of her, Yun Bo pulled her into an embrace, holding her tightly.
“You did well.”
Finally, Tan Yun clutched her clothes and burst into sobs, pouring years of pent-up grievances into her tears.
Cheng Xiaoai stood at the bridge, watching them, and mouthed two words to Yun Bo:
“Thank you.”
Once Tan Yun had cried her fill, she looked apologetically at the dampened jasmine flower on Yun Bo’s chest and sniffled, “I—I’ll wash your clothes for you.”
Yun Bo chuckled. “Does Xiao Yun often wash clothes for others?”
“Of course not!” Tan Yun wiped her nose and explained, “I’ve never done it for anyone else.”
“Are you hungry?” Yun Bo took out a silk handkerchief and gently dabbed away the tear stains at the corners of her eyes.
Tan Yun glanced at the restaurant below. “I’m not.”
“Well, I am. Would Xiao Yun keep me company for a meal?”
“You haven’t eaten yet? Then let’s go—quick, let’s get you some food!” She immediately tugged Yun Bo downward, as if afraid she might starve.
“Duanduan!” Youyou called out, stepping out of the Bentley and hurrying after them.
Tan Yun turned to look at her, then back at Yun Bo. “Do you know her?”
Youyou jogged up and discreetly pulled Yun Bo aside. “Duanduan, the matter from last time hasn’t been resolved yet. The higher-ups have made it clear they want you to keep a low profile these days. We… should really head back!”
“That was an accident. I’ll be more careful this time,” Yun Bo reassured, flashing Tan Yun a smile to ease her worries.
“Duanduan, filming has only just begun. The media is digging for any scrap of information about you. The higher-ups barely managed to suppress that incident, and with your health… If this continues, I’m afraid—”
Yun Bo cut her off. “When I took on this project, I made it very clear—my private life is off-limits.”
Youyou was just an employee, unwilling to offend either Yun Bo or the executives. “Then, Duanduan, could we at least find a more discreet place to eat?”
Yun Bo’s patience was wearing thin. Filming had already taken up too much of the time she could have spent with Tan Yun. “I perform every scene myself. My job is to act—everything else is the crew’s responsibility.”
Youyou knew this was true and couldn’t argue. “Fine. Then I’ll wait outside.”
“There’s no need for that. If you treat me like an ordinary person, others will too. More people recognize your face than mine anyway.”
Her logic was irrefutable. After some hesitation, Youyou returned to the Bentley but couldn’t resist adding, “Then at least get some rest. You’ve been pushing yourself too hard these days.”
Yun Bo gave a noncommittal hum and walked back to Tan Yun.
“What’s wrong? Did something happen?” Tan Yun asked, concerned by the tense expression Yun Bo had worn while talking to Youyou.
Yun Bo smiled. “Just work stuff. What would you like to eat?”
“How about boiled fish?” Tan Yun suggested.
“Sure!”
Just as the two of them arrived at the hotel, someone not far from them snapped several photos with their phone.
