What's Wrong with Spoiling You? [Entertainment Industry] - Chapter 27
Tan Yun and Zhou Huixiu came out chatting and laughing. Mi Nuan, who had been waiting at the door, noticed with some thoughtfulness that her master seemed quite fond of this naive junior.
She stepped forward with an affectionate demeanor and said, “Tan Yun, Xiaoai, it’s been years since we last met. Let’s have a meal together—my treat. What would you like?”
Cheng Xiaoai bluntly undercut her, “Senior, I don’t handle alcohol well, so I won’t be joining you for drinks.”
Mi Nuan’s expression stiffened briefly before quickly smoothing over. “Oh, right, the school anniversary is in a few days. Would you like to visit the campus together?”
Just as Tan Yun was about to say “no,” Cheng Xiaoai immediately agreed, “Sure, why not? Let’s invite more people—otherwise, it won’t showcase your generosity.”
Zhou Huixiu’s expression also darkened. Though this apprentice wasn’t her favorite, she couldn’t stand such sharp words. Her smile vanished completely.
Cheng Xiaoai had only meant to tease and didn’t want to ruin Tan Yun’s plans, so she added, “Professor Zhou, we’ll leave the embroidery to you this time. Tan Yun and I will visit again another day.”
Before leaving, she shot a meaningful glance at Mi Nuan, as if to silently warn her.
After the two left, Zhou Huixiu stopped walking and scrutinized her apprentice, wondering if her respect was genuine or if she had ulterior motives.
Cheng Xiaoai’s earlier look had been cutting. Mi Nuan had only intended to feign nostalgia with them, but they hadn’t given her any face.
Zhou Huixiu remarked, “That junior of yours has quite the mind of her own.”
Even though she had no real desire to praise Tan Yun, Mi Nuan forced herself to say, “She really is impressive—a promising talent.”
Zhou Huixiu merely responded with a noncommittal “Hmm,” her tone flat and unreadable, leaving Mi Nuan unsettled.
“It’s getting late. Let’s head back.”
Mi Nuan nodded, aware she hadn’t yet earned the privilege of staying for dinner at her master’s home. After exchanging a few polite words, she left.
She knew that to win her master’s favor, she had to cater to her preferences. If Zhou Huixiu liked qipaos, she would gift her several—until she found one she truly loved.
At the same time, she was self-aware enough to admit she couldn’t compete with Tan Yun.
After careful consideration, she thought of someone else—a designer named Gu Yuan, whose work had stunned her during a fashion competition.
Money could be spent, but reputation was harder to build.
Understanding priorities, she quickened her pace home and arranged for someone to find Gu Yuan’s contact details.
On the way back, Tan Yun told Cheng Xiaoai about Zhou Huixiu inviting her to stay for dinner.
At first, Cheng Xiaoai was annoyed that she had refused, but when she heard Tan Yun had seized another opportunity later, her irritation subsided.
As they stepped out of the taxi, they spotted Yun Bo standing at the company entrance, holding a lunchbox.
Tan Yun nearly sprinted toward him but restrained herself to maintain some semblance of grace.
Yun Bo had gone straight home from the police station to cook without resting, worried she might be hungry. “Are you hungry?” he asked.
Cheng Xiaoai folded her arms and peered into the lunchbox before clicking her tongue. “Tsk, tsk. Tan Yun, you forget your childhood friend the moment food appears.”
Tan Yun bit her chopsticks and nudged her with an elbow.
Yun Bo gently pulled the chopsticks from her mouth and scolded softly, “What if you hurt your throat?”
“No, I won’t,” Tan Yun replied, her earlier gloom completely gone as she flashed an affectionate smile.
Cheng Xiaoai, standing nearby, couldn’t take it anymore and waved her hand in front of Tan Yun’s face. “You’re drooling.”
Tan Yun hurriedly wiped her mouth with a tissue, muttering in embarrassment, “Don’t say it so loud!”
Cheng Xiaoai withdrew her hand, eyeing the steamed egg and spare ribs in the lunchbox enviously. “Tan Yun, I’m heading out now,” she said, followed by a long sigh.
Tan Yun quickly grabbed the chopsticks and stuffed a piece of spare rib into her mouth. “Go on, go on!”
Cheng Xiaoai bit into the rib, shaking her head as she walked away.
Tan Yun immediately switched back to her adoring expression. “Where should we eat?”
Yun Bo already had a plan in mind. His wife was so beautiful—someone was bound to covet her. “Let’s eat at your company cafeteria. There aren’t many decent places around here.”
To his surprise, Tan Yun was even more excited than he was. Her reasoning was simple: she wanted to make sure those colleagues from earlier would give up on her.
Tan Yun nodded eagerly. “Let’s go in then. It’s way too hot outside.”
Yun Bo followed behind her, carrying the lunchbox. He quickly noticed many people in the company eyeing Tan Yun with lecherous looks, which instantly put him in a foul mood.
Tan Yun felt the same way. As they entered the cafeteria, anyone who didn’t know better might have thought they were in the middle of an argument.
Cheng Xiaoai was busy bragging to her coworkers about how Zhou Huixiu had invited her to stay for lunch. When she saw the two of them walk in with dark expressions, her heart skipped a beat. “No way, they’re fighting already?”
But in the next moment, she realized she must be overthinking it—most people in the cafeteria probably thought the same.
In reality, the two of them were exchanging tender glances, spreading a wave of sweetness that could make anyone jealous.
Tan Yun chose a seat, and Yun Bo placed the lunchbox on the table. The food inside was enough for two, but there was only one pair of chopsticks.
Soon, whispers started circulating behind their backs. “There are plenty of chopsticks in the cafeteria. Why not grab another pair instead of feeding each other like that?”
Truthfully, everyone had seen this kind of display before—they just couldn’t stand couples flaunting their love all the time.
Tan Yun had never been this happy before. As she ate the spoonful of steamed egg Yun Bo fed her, she asked, “Yun Bo, did you make all this yourself?”
“Why? Does it not taste good?” Yun Bo took the remaining half-spoonful of egg into his own mouth, sharing the same spoon with her.
“It’s delicious, really delicious.” Tan Yun gave her a thumbs-up. “You’re such a great cook.”
And as a person, she was practically perfect in every way.
“Then eat more, Xiao Yun.” After last night’s dinner, Yun Bo already had a good idea of what she liked.
Tan Yun nodded and took another bite of the food Yun Bo offered.
Just then, someone who refused to give up approached them and plopped down beside them. “Hey, ladies, which department are you from?”
This guy was trouble! Tan Yun immediately saw through his intentions—sitting next to her but eyeing the beauty beside her, clearly here to hit on them.
Tan Yun picked up the chopsticks from the lunchbox, grabbed a shred of meat, and held it out. “Try this shredded pork. It’s really good.”
Yun Bo leaned slightly forward to accept the shred of meat from the chopsticks, her eyes reflecting only Tan Yun, completely oblivious to the man who had approached.
The man wasn’t in a hurry either, glancing at the dishes in the lunchbox as he praised, “Not bad at all. Who made these?”
Tan Yun picked up a piece of spare rib, turning slightly to look at him, her tone impatient. “Little brother, do you want some too?”
The man hadn’t expected her to ask that and replied, “It looks so appetizing—of course I’d like to try!”
Tan Yun shot him a glare and snorted, her expression smug as if to say, “I knew it.” She said haughtily, “Then I’m definitely not giving you any.”
The man was stunned for a moment before processing her words, thinking to himself, This one’s way too unreasonable. The beauty across from her is much gentler.
Yun Bo still didn’t spare him a single glance, resting her chin on the back of her hand while holding her chopsticks, her eyes like gentle whirlpools filled with indulgence reserved only for one person.
“I only cook for Xiao Yun.” The tenderness in her voice was matched only by the coldness directed at everyone else.
Only then did the man realize—the two sitting across from him were actually a same-sex couple.
His body stiffened abruptly as he stared at them in shock.
Yun Bo swept him with an icy glare, her smile freezing over. “You’re ruining my appetite.”
“You—” The man wished he could slap himself. What was I thinking earlier, believing this one was the gentler one?
He stood up, feigning composure—after all, his friends were watching—and said, “Then I won’t disturb you two any longer.”
They didn’t finish their meal until most of the people in the cafeteria had left.
“I’ll pick you up tonight,” Yun Bo said, handing her the fruit she had prepared in her bag.
By now, everyone in the company knew—she had a girlfriend, a stunning one who doted on her endlessly.
Tan Yun hesitated but decided to bring up what had happened that morning. “I went to see that famous embroidery master today.”
“Did everything go smoothly?”
“It did, but I ran into someone I didn’t want to see.” She studied Yun Bo’s expression carefully.
The moment those words left her mouth, Yun Bo’s sharp instincts already guessed who she was referring to. “Go back to the office and rest for a bit,” she replied.
Tan Yun was taken aback, not expecting her to show so little interest in the matter.
Does she not mind?
She stared at Yun Bo’s face for a long moment, about to voice the thoughts in her heart—
But a finger pressed against her lips, rubbing gently. Yun Bo’s eyes held nothing but deep affection as she gazed at the woman who always overcomplicated things. “With me, you don’t need to think about anything.”
Just remember that I love you.
Tan Yun nodded, the sudden confession sending a rush of desire through her.
Yun Bo’s breathing grew uneven as she bent closer, making it easier to take what she wanted. She exhaled painfully, “Don’t make me wait too long…”
Tan Yun instinctively clenched her thighs, tilting her head back to give in to Yun Bo’s teasing touch.
Her compliance only made Yun Bo lose more control. “Does it feel bad?” she murmured, her voice low and tempting.
“It does…” Another flush spread across Tan Yun’s cheeks, her body like a volcano ready to erupt.
“Let me help you…”
