What's Wrong with Spoiling You? [Entertainment Industry] - Chapter 41
Cheng Xiaoai watched with great interest as the woman was dragged into the crowded street center, and she herself ran out to follow the commotion.
The thug’s grip was no joke—Gu Yuan howled in pain.
Tears streaked down Gu Yuan’s face as the crowd around her grew larger. She covered her face, struggling and screaming, “Call the police! Help!”
The thug, having received a hefty sum from Yun Bo to rough her up, yanked her hair and dragged her forward while another pried her hands away and slapped her repeatedly. “Keep screaming, bitch. Stealing men, huh?”
“I didn’t! I didn’t!” She tried desperately to dodge, but the thug whipped out a belt and lashed at her mercilessly before snatching her handbag. “Heard you’re a fashion designer—did you steal designs too?”
With that, he kicked her to the ground. Gu Yuan took several brutal slaps, her lips swollen and bleeding, as she scrambled backward in fear.
The thug emptied the cash from her bag and threw it in her face. “I don’t want your damn money. I’m just here to teach a slut like you a lesson.”
Gu Yuan hid her hands behind her back protectively, but the thug grabbed her collar and kneed her in the stomach. “Admit what you did in front of everyone, and I’ll let you go.”
She shook her head. “No—”
The thug seized her wrist and twisted hard. “Since these hands are only good for stealing men, why don’t I just break them for you?”
A designer’s hands were everything. Dignity forgotten, she begged, “No! I’ll give you money—any amount! I have money!”
But the thug couldn’t care less about her cash now. His grip didn’t loosen. “Saw your livestream—real bold, huh? Accusing others of plagiarism before anything even started. Why not just barge into the wife’s house and declare yourself the boss?”
“I’ll say it, I’ll say it!” She tried to pull her hand back, terrified he’d snap her wrist.
“Fine, I’ll give you this chance.” The thug released her hand—only to punch her in the eye.
“I stole a man!” She rubbed her eye frantically, her voice barely above a whisper.
“Where’s that slutty moan of yours?” Dissatisfied, the thug slapped her again.
Blood gushed from her nose, now visibly crooked.
The thug laughed, pointing at her. “Want me to beat you back to your original face? Let everyone see.”
“No! I’ll say it!” Gu Yuan shielded her face, unable to meet the crowd’s stares, and raised her voice. “I stole a man.”
“Say it again.” The thug kicked her thigh.
“I stole a man!” Gu Yuan wailed in agony.
Any lingering sympathy from the onlookers vanished. Cheng Xiaoai pushed forward, whispering, “This designer not only steals men but also design drafts.”
The thug whipped her with his belt again. “What else did you steal? Designs?”
At the mention of designs, Gu Yuan shrieked, “Did Tan Yun pay you? Did she send you?”
The thug had never heard of Tan Yun. He spat on her. “Tan who? I’ll spit all over you, bitch.”
“It must be that bitch, that bitch!” Gu Yuan screamed hysterically, her emotions in complete turmoil.
The onlookers, who already despised her to the core, were further enlightened by Cheng Xiaoai’s words and began berating Gu Yuan, who was sprawled on the ground. “You plagiarized someone else’s work and still have the nerve to curse? Shameless!”
“I didn’t! It was all my own inspiration. I’m the most talented one here!” Her words completely betrayed her lack of confidence.
Cheng Xiaoai fanned the flames further, shouting, “She didn’t just plagiarize once—she has a whole history of it! A quick search will show you. Can you even compare her past works to what she’s doing now?”
The crowd erupted in chatter, and Gu Yuan, her ears ringing from the beating, could barely make out who was speaking. Frantically, she tried to explain, “Don’t believe that bitch’s lies! I’m the original creator! I’m the victim here!”
Her words only infuriated everyone further. If everyone was accusing her of plagiarism, then wasn’t she the real bitch here?
A thug stomped on her hand. “If you keep calling people bitches, I’ll stomp your mouth shut for you.”
By now, Gu Yuan’s face was swollen and bruised. Any more hits, and she’d be disfigured for sure.
“I’ll get a lawyer! I’ll sue that bitch!” Gu Yuan knew that admitting to stealing the designs would ruin her life, so she’d rather endure the physical pain.
The thug kicked her a few more times, but when she refused to speak, he pocketed the phone that had been recording the whole time and quickly left, not wanting to risk getting caught by the police.
Too battered to stand, Gu Yuan crawled on the ground, her mouth full of blood, her face covered in bruises, and dark circles forming around her eyes. As she struggled to pick up her discarded phone, she still managed to curse Tan Yun. “I won’t let you get away with this! I’ll make you pay!”
Yun Bo quickly received the video from the thug and immediately forwarded it to Youyou, instructing her to have it edited and then hire a marketing account and a wave of trolls.
The edited video soon surfaced online, reposted by several bloggers.
Exposing the Serial Plagiarism Dog!
The video highlighted the crowd’s accusations of plagiarism and Gu Yuan’s own admission of stealing, along with clips of her deliberately provocative remarks during the competition.
The trolls wasted no time in tearing her apart.
Yun Bo had done her homework before deploying the trolls. She had Cheng Xiaoai dig up all of Gu Yuan’s worst and most embarrassing past works—just to give her a taste of the humiliation she had dished out.
WaveBro: Here’s some hard evidence. Don’t ask who I am. Image This was her new design from 20XX. How many of you actually bought this outfit?
NotPrettyButYouAre: Since WaveBro shared Gu Yuan’s design, I’ll share Tan Yun’s from the same period. Same year, same new design. Image Let’s compare sales numbers.
NoMilkTeaJustYourMilk: Never bought either, but is it too late to get Tan Yun’s design now?
……
……
The dress the trolls targeted this time was the first design they created after graduating and joining the company—a long strappy dress.
Tan Yun’s style was sensual, while Gu Yuan’s was more minimalist.
Back then, the two were still on good terms, and Tan Yun had even given her some key guidance. The dress bore traces of Tan Yun’s influence.
Soon, fellow netizens noticed and pointed it out one after another.
Southeast Not Northwest: Holy shit, didn’t realize it until I looked closely. The neckline part of this outfit is clearly plagiarized, okay?
Reply to the above: Yeah, and the side waist part uses the same floral pattern, stealing the main design. There’s no way to whitewash this now.
Yun Bo had just finished preparing the pain-relief medicine for Tan Yun, warming it before handing it over, then started scrolling through his phone.
Meanwhile, Cheng Xiaoai, having had her fill of excitement, took a taxi straight to the hospital, eager to share her victory. She pushed open the ward door and began chattering excitedly.
“Xiao Yun, you should’ve seen it. The people Yun Bo hired beat Gu Yuan so badly.”
Yun Bo hadn’t planned to tell Tan Yun about hiring people to beat Gu Yuan, not wanting to ruin his gentle image in front of her.
As Cheng Xiaoai enthusiastically recounted the events, he looked up and glared at her.
Cheng Xiaoai, oblivious to his signal, plopped onto a chair and started rambling.
“You have no idea how skilled those thugs your beauty hired were. They kicked her left and right until her nose collapsed.”
She got even more animated. “Remember when she got her nose done? It was just to seduce our new boss.”
Tan Yun looked utterly confused and glanced at Yun Bo.
Yun Bo coughed lightly, trying to hint at Cheng Xiaoai.
“Honestly, your beauty was amazing this time. So many thumbs up!” She even stuck out her thumb, waving it in front of Tan Yun, then at Yun Bo. Noticing his dark expression, she turned back to Tan Yun.
“Uh… you didn’t know about this, did you?”
Tan Yun nodded, and Cheng Xiaoai immediately stood up, walking to the window. “Pretend I never said anything.”
After hearing all that, Tan Yun roughly understood—her beauty had hired people to beat Gu Yuan to avenge her. A warm feeling surged in her chest.
If Cheng Xiaoai hadn’t been there as the third wheel, she would’ve buried herself in her beauty’s arms and purred like a kitten.
Seeing the moved glimmer in the little fox’s eyes, Yun Bo’s worries melted away. “I went a bit overboard this time, but I wanted her to know she messed with the wrong person.”
Tan Yun was deeply touched but worried about the online backlash. “Won’t this affect your job?”
“No!” Yun Bo replied. Their relationship wasn’t public yet, so this wouldn’t trace back to him.
Of course, he didn’t want to keep it a secret forever, but now wasn’t the time to go public—not when Gu Yuan might retaliate by accusing him of exploiting Tan Yun.
Tan Yun now loathed Gu Yuan with every fiber of her being. “Yun Bo, show me that video!”
Seeing that her earlier words hadn’t strained their relationship, Cheng Xiaoai quickly scooted back over, transforming into a commentator.
Yun Bo didn’t want her to see the overly graphic footage, so he only showed her the edited version.
Cheng Xiaoai clicked her tongue. “Recorded videos just aren’t the same as seeing it live. This doesn’t pack the same punch.”
Tan Yun quickly grasped Yun Bo’s intention and immediately turned lovestruck. “Yun Bo, you’re so good to me.”
Commentator Cheng Xiaoai: “…”
