What's Wrong with Spoiling You? [Entertainment Industry] - Chapter 5
The moment the beauty disappeared, she instantly deflated. She walked to the bathroom and examined herself in the mirror.
Her fair little face was now smudged with dust, her hair tousled into a mess—hardly the soft, adorable image of the girl-next-door anymore.
Tan Yun nearly cried as she cupped water in her hands, washing her face clean, then combed her hair neatly and applied some lipstick.
Realizing she was sighing again, she washed her face once more. When she stepped out, Tan Mu was sitting on the sofa watching TV. Tan Yun immediately went over and hugged her, whining, “Mom, I need a model for that competition. Can you talk to the beauty—ahem, the girl next door for me?”
Tan Mu didn’t even glance at her. “Every time I go out, she’s already gone. How am I supposed to help you?”
“Mom, you know how busy I am with work. How about you help me keep track of when she usually leaves and comes back?” Tan Yun’s little scheme was crystal clear—if Tan Mu figured out the beauty’s schedule, she could engineer some “coincidental” encounters, like going downstairs or taking walks together.
Tan Mu, oblivious to her ulterior motives and having heard about her stolen design drafts, finally nodded after some persistent pleading.
Tan Yun planted a loud kiss on her mother’s cheek and hummed a tune as she headed to the kitchen to cook.
Meanwhile, Yun Bo stood on the balcony, holding a letter in her hand, just like all those years ago, her heart racing with excitement.
Dear neighbor,
Hello.
Your face lingers in my mind from this morning, unforgettable, leaving me longing and yearning.
You stood by the floor-to-ceiling window like a beauty stepping out of a painting, a breathtaking sight to behold.
I live right next to you—Tan, as in “conversation and laughter,” Yun, as in “promising you a lifetime.”
Your neighbor, Tan Yun
“The first time we met, it was just like this.” She gazed at the pot of sunflowers on the neighboring balcony. For a fleeting moment, it seemed someone stood there again, holding a flowerpot, standing on tiptoe with a radiant smile, calling out joyfully, “Yun Bo, Yun Bo! You’re mine. From now on, if anyone dares to scheme against you, just tell them my name—I’ll protect you.”
Her thoughts drifted back to the days when that person would linger backstage, circling around her.
“Yun Bo, Yun Bo, I like you. Why won’t you answer me?”
“Yun Bo, Yun Bo, don’t listen to their nonsense. So what if I’m a woman? I’ll cherish and love you more than any man ever could.”
“Yun Bo, Yun Bo, I’ll come again tomorrow—to bring you flowers, to hear you sing.”
The illusion shattered. The coffee resting on the railing had gone cold. She swiped her phone screen and answered Youyou’s call.
“Duanduan, tomorrow morning’s scene has been rescheduled for the day after, but the afternoon shoot can’t be delayed any further. Otherwise, people will start saying you’re acting like a diva.”
Youyou couldn’t understand why she had suddenly decided to move—and not just anywhere, but to City A, insisting on commuting between A and B. She spent all day in the car, exhausting herself to the point of nausea, unable to film or socialize with other actors. It was frustrating to watch.
“I’ll be there tomorrow morning and film for three days straight.” The crew couldn’t wait any longer. She glanced at the balcony across from hers. After finally reuniting, they’d only met twice.
Youyou asked, “So you mean you’ll film for three days and then rest?”
“Mm.”
“Alright.” Three days of continuous shooting would still be better than spending the whole day traveling in a car and getting nothing done. “I’ll talk to the director, but there’s no guarantee they’ll agree. The budget is already set, and Duanduan, your health… the last check-up…”
“Enough, don’t say anymore. I know my own body.” In the three years since her rebirth, Yun Bo had stayed out of the spotlight but kept up with the entertainment industry. Combined with the original host’s acting skills, she could handle any problem that came her way—except for this body…
She let out a heavy sigh.
