What's Wrong with Spoiling You? [Entertainment Industry] - Chapter 52
Yun Bo wiped the water from the corner of her lips and patted the little fox who was still savoring the moment with closed eyes. “Feeling better now? Hmm?”
Tan Yun drowsily opened her eyes, let out a soft “ow,” and poked Yun Bo’s nose with her finger. “Are you all dressed now?”
Although Cheng Xiaoai was seeing illusions, she still caught glimpses of things she shouldn’t have and shouted, “Dressed! Dressed!”
By now, Tan Yun had long forgotten what shyness meant. She lowered her head and tried to lift her skirt.
Yun Bo swiftly pressed it down to prevent any indecent exposure. “Stop teasing me, be good.”
“If I’m good, do I get milk?” Tan Yun giggled drunkenly. “I want some!”
“Yes!” Yun Bo straightened her up, amazed she could still think about that in her state. “Sit properly. I’ll find someone to help Cheng Xiaoai out.”
Cheng Xiaoai slapped the table. “Milk time!”
Yun Bo was utterly exasperated. She quickly stepped out and asked a waitress to assist Cheng Xiaoai while she carried Tan Yun on her back.
Tan Yun rested her chin on Yun Bo’s shoulder and mumbled, “Hey, beauty, I drank so much… Am I heavy?”
“Not at all.” Yun Bo’s heart warmed unbearably.
Ah, this was what it felt like to love someone.
The night gently stretched their shadows long, intertwining with lingering emotions.
Tan Yun swung her legs. “Put me down. I need to pee, then you can carry me again. Heavy!”
“You’re not heavy. I love carrying you.” To Yun Bo, she wasn’t just carrying a person—she was carrying her entire world, filled with all her affection.
“Oh.” Tan Yun finally quieted down, but not for long. She wrapped her arms around Yun Bo’s neck and asked mischievously, “Can we sleep together tonight?”
Yun Bo adjusted her grip. “Didn’t we just sleep earlier?”
Behind them, Cheng Xiaoai started acting up again. “Milk time!”
Yun Bo could already imagine the waitress’s expression as she struggled to carry Tan Yun to her Bentley.
She set Tan Yun down and was about to lift her into the car when Cheng Xiaoai suddenly pulled out her phone and dialed someone.
By the time Yun Bo stepped back, the call had ended.
“You can go now.” Yun Bo handed the waitress a few red bills.
Just as she was about to take Cheng Xiaoai, a woman approached from the side—dressed in black trousers and a striped short-sleeve, exuding an air of professional elegance.
She scrutinized Yun Bo and quickened her pace. “Who are you?”
“Yun Bo.”
The woman’s gaze swept over Cheng Xiaoai, her jaw tightening until she confirmed Cheng Xiaoai was unharmed. Then she relaxed slightly. “What’s your relationship with her?”
Yun Bo wasn’t stupid—she immediately recognized the woman’s feelings for Cheng Xiaoai. “I’m Tan Yun’s girlfriend.”
Given the day’s trending gossip, her identity was obvious.
Cheng Xiaoai swayed unsteadily, her lips twisting into a bitter frown when she recognized the newcomer. “Ugh… Yan Jin? Didn’t I tell you not to come?”
Unfamiliar with Yan Jin, Yun Bo hesitated to hand Cheng Xiaoai over. She opened the car door, preparing to usher Cheng Xiaoai inside.
It was clear that the person before her, Yan Jin, had no intention of letting her take Cheng Xiaoai away.
Without support, Cheng Xiaoai swayed slightly, nearly falling to the ground.
Yan Jin swiftly steadied her, her brows furrowed with reproach. “Where have you been?”
Cheng Xiaoai’s mind was a muddled mess as she replied, “Went to drink milk!”
Standing by the car door, Yun Bo’s eyebrow twitched, while Yan Jin’s face darkened completely.
“Miss Yan, it’s getting late. I should take them back to the hotel now.”
Yan Jin glanced back at her car, still some distance away. After a moment’s thought, she helped Cheng Xiaoai sit beside Tan Yun before turning to fetch her car.
Yun Bo smirked slightly. Cheng Xiaoai needed someone to accompany her—she couldn’t always drag her little fox out to play.
She slowly started the car, waiting for the vehicle behind to catch up before heading toward the hotel.
Yan Jin’s car trailed closely behind. Once Yun Bo got out, she tossed the keys to the valet, then helped Tan Yun from the back seat. She looked at Yan Jin, who had just stepped out of her car. “Come give me a hand.”
Yan Jin nodded and helped Cheng Xiaoai down, only to be pushed away.
Yun Bo had no interest in watching their little drama. With an arm around Tan Yun’s waist, she headed straight for the elevator.
After settling Tan Yun in the room, she pulled back the curtains to see the two still locked in a standoff below.
She dialed Cheng Xiaoai’s phone, and Yan Jin answered. “If she won’t cooperate, just carry her.”
Down below, Yan Jin glanced at the still-resistant Cheng Xiaoai. After a brief hesitation, she ignored the protests and hoisted her over her shoulder.
Tan Yun, meanwhile, had quieted down but kept complaining of a headache.
Yun Bo sighed and guided her to the bathroom, scolding lightly, “Will you dare to drink this much again?”
“Yes!” Tan Yun leaned over the toilet, retching, her tone stubborn. “When I’m drunk, I can hug, kiss, and cuddle.”
The lecture on the tip of Yun Bo’s tongue vanished. She handed Tan Yun the mouthwash instead.
Tan Yun obediently rinsed her mouth, then tugged at her dress straps. “Uncomfortable… need bath.”
Yun Bo helped her sit by the tub. Once the water was warm, she asked, “Why aren’t you washing?”
Tan Yun grinned mischievously. “Want to watch you take a bath.”
“Then let’s bathe together!”
……
……
Yun Bo retrieved a robe from the wall, slipped it on, then lifted the now-sleeping Tan Yun, wrapping her snugly before carrying her back to the bed.
She gazed contentedly at the little fox sprawled in the center of the bed, who murmured in her sleep, “Yummy… yummy…”
Yun Bo pinched her nose lightly, then picked up her phone from the nightstand and dialed Cheng Xiaoai’s number.
Though she wanted Cheng Xiaoai to settle down soon, she also respected her wishes. Even if Yan Jin had feelings for her, Yun Bo wouldn’t make decisions for her.
Yan Jin answered the call, Cheng Xiaoai’s loud protests audible in the background.
“Running into any trouble there?” Yun Bo asked.
“No. She just refuses to bathe with me,” Yan Jin replied matter-of-factly.
“Best not to push things too far. If you really want to win someone over, you have to respect their feelings.”
Yan Jin’s approach differed. “I don’t know if you’ve heard the phrase, ‘words belie one’s true intentions.'”
Yun Bo had never been one to meddle in others’ affairs. “Regardless of whether I’ve heard that phrase before, there’s one thing I must tell you—forced affection never yields sweetness.”
“You don’t need to remind me of that. I’m well aware.” Yan Jin hung up the phone and looked at the still struggling Cheng Xiaoai, sighing helplessly. “Can’t you just stay still?”
……
……
The morning sunlight streamed through the gaps in the curtains, filling the room as Tan Yun slowly opened her eyes, her head throbbing with the pain of a hangover.
She lifted the blanket to peek underneath, held her breath, and gradually turned over to look at the beauty still asleep beside her.
Both their bathrobes were loosely draped, and she carefully tried to recall what had happened the previous night, not wanting to miss any exciting details.
She vaguely remembered sitting on the beauty’s lap and then doing some indescribable things. Later, the beauty had pushed her onto the sofa and removed… or was it her who had removed…
Though she didn’t remember much of what followed, she had a general idea of the sequence of events. The only problem was that the intoxicating sensations had completely faded from her memory, making her want to slap herself in frustration. How could she have gotten so drunk?
With a mournful sigh, she gazed at the scenic hills before her.
“See something you like?” Yun Bo’s teasing voice sounded by her ear.
Tan Yun quickly shut her eyes, hastily distancing herself. “I didn’t see anything.”
Last night had indeed exhausted Yun Bo. Tan Yun was terribly restless when drunk, nearly rolling off the bed several times in her sleep. Yun Bo hadn’t dared to sleep deeply, keeping her firmly wrapped in her arms the whole time.
“Didn’t see anything, huh?” Yun Bo pressed her fingers to her temples. “You kept me up all night yesterday.”
“I did no such thing! You didn’t even let me touch—” The last part was muttered under her breath.
Though they weren’t referring to the same word, Yun Bo caught the implication and sighed. “Where didn’t I let you touch? Are you trying to avoid responsibility now?”
Soon, Tan Yun remembered her public coming-out incident the day before. Her almond-shaped eyes widened as she glared, ready to demand an explanation. “Responsibility? Yun Bo, don’t you think you owe me an explanation about that Weibo post?”
Yun Bo couldn’t stand her looking at her like that and asked, “Weibo? What about it?”
Tan Yun pretended to be furious. “Why didn’t you tell me earlier that you’re a big celebrity?”
“Because I wanted to protect you,” Yun Bo replied matter-of-factly.
This left Tan Yun speechless. She had known from the moment the news broke that the beauty must have kept her identity secret to shield her.
“I know,” she said, instantly shifting from a fierce persona to that of a doting wife.
“Know what?” Yun Bo grabbed her hand and pressed it against her own chest. “But you’ve hurt my heart. What are you going to do about it?”
“Should I… rub it for you?” Fine, maybe she just wanted to take advantage of the situation.
Yun Bo flipped over, pinning her beneath her. “Xiao Yun, isn’t that a bit insincere?”
“So you want compensation?” Tan Yun had a feeling whatever was about to happen wouldn’t be compensating Yun Bo—it would be compensating herself.
“What was it you said you wanted to eat yesterday?” Yun Bo hooked a finger under her chin.
After a brief moment of thought, Tan Yun recalled the shameless proclamation she had loudly made the night before.
Those three words magnified endlessly in her mind, pressing directly on her nerves.
Instantly turning into a stutter, “R-remember…”
“Do you still want to eat now?” Yun Bo also knew that she had starved her too much before, so half the reason for her current wolfish behavior was his own doing.
“E-eat, eat, eat…”
……
……
When Tan Yun got up, she didn’t forget to ask about Cheng Xiaoai’s condition, after all, she had played a bit too wildly last night.
Yun Bo held her ankle and put on thin socks for her, saying, “Yesterday, someone named Yan Jin sent her to her room.”
“Who?” Tan Yun thought she hadn’t heard correctly. Yan Jin was Cheng Xiaoai’s direct superior, and she often heard her complain about how unapproachable her boss was. If they had met yesterday, wouldn’t they have argued fiercely?
Yun Bo clasped her ankle and put on her slippers before allowing her to run out.
At Cheng Xiaoai’s door, Tan Yun first pressed her ear against it to listen for a while. Only when she heard no movement did she dare to knock.
She glanced at Yun Bo standing beside her and asked uncertainly, “Xiaoai’s sexual orientation is straight, right? They shouldn’t have done anything, should they?”
“Straight?” Yun Bo chuckled. “Didn’t seem like it.”
Ten minutes passed, and the door still hadn’t opened.
Worried, Tan Yun called her, but there was no answer.
Fortunately, the door moved slightly, and a woman in a bathrobe emerged from inside.
“What’s the matter?” Yan Jin seemed very displeased with her knocking so early in the morning.
Tan Yun peeked through the crack in the door, not daring to be too bold in front of her superior, and asked, “Is Xiaoai awake? I need to talk to her about something.”
“Still sleeping.” Yan Jin glanced at Yun Bo standing beside her.
Yun Bo wrapped an arm around Tan Yun’s shoulder. “Shouldn’t you open the door?”
Tan Yun’s sharp eyes caught sight of a bite mark on Yan Jin’s collarbone. Just as she was about to follow it downward with her gaze, Yun Bo covered her eyes.
Cheng Xiaoai had always liked men. If she woke up to find she’d slept with a woman—and that woman being her direct superior—she would be utterly devastated.
Tan Yun angrily pulled Yan Jin outside. “You hypocrite!”
Yan Jin rubbed her temples. “What hypocrite? Cheng Xiaoai was like a starving ghost yesterday, crying to be fed. I took care of her all night and just managed to close my eyes a moment ago.”
Tan Yun didn’t believe a word of it. She pushed the door open and rushed into the bedroom, shaking the usually carefree Cheng Xiaoai awake.
Meanwhile, Yun Bo followed her in, turning his back to Yan Jin behind him. “You should have left last night.”
Yan Jin studied the woman she hadn’t gotten a clear look at last night—wearing a pink mesh top and white skinny pants, appearing gentle yet as cold as ice on a mountain peak.
Probably reserving all her tenderness in life for Tan Yun alone.
Cheng Xiaoai groggily opened her eyes. “What’s going on? My head is killing me.”
“Did Yan Jin do anything to you?” If not for Yun Bo’s presence, Tan Yun would have lifted her clothes to check for herself.
“Huh? Who did you say?” The moment Cheng Xiaoai heard that name, she exploded into action, jumping out of bed and rushing into the bathroom.
Following Tan Yun’s scream, she looked at Yun Bo with concern and said guiltily, “Yun Bo, it’s all my fault for taking her out drinking.”
Cheng Xiaoai wailed inside for a long time before opening the door. When she came out, she looked haggardly at Tan Yun and beckoned to her, saying, “Tan Yun, come here. I have something to tell you.”
Tan Yun’s heart skipped a beat, realizing their friendship might be over.
She quickly organized her thoughts in her mind and kept apologizing as soon as she entered the bathroom. “Xiaoai, I didn’t mean to. I don’t know how Yan Jin ended up sleeping in the same room as you.”
Cheng Xiaoai tightly grasped her hand. “Tan Yun, I lost control yesterday and pinned Yan Jin on the couch and… forced myself on her…”
“What?” Tan Yun thought she might be hearing things. She couldn’t comprehend what Xiaoai was saying.
“Weren’t we drinking in the private room?”
Tan Yun nodded. “What does that have to do with Yan Jin?”
Cheng Xiaoai slowly recounted what she remembered. “Yan Jin came over yesterday, and I grabbed her and rubbed against her. I even took off my pants… I… did that to her…”
“Wait a minute.” The more Tan Yun listened, the more it sounded like Xiaoai was talking about herself. “Are you saying you pushed Yan Jin down in the private room and… slept with her?”
“Yes.” Cheng Xiaoai tugged at her hair. “Why was I so reckless? How could I have thought of sleeping with her?”
Now Tan Yun understood what had happened—Xiaoai must have confused her and Yun Bo with herself and Yan Jin.
As she hesitated over how to explain this to Xiaoai, Cheng Xiaoai grabbed her shoulders and declared with the determination of a martyr, “If I go apologize to her now and pretend nothing happened, do you think she’ll let me off?”
“Actually, Xiaoai, I—”
Cheng Xiaoai wasn’t listening at all. “No, no—she’ll tear me apart.”
“No, Xiaoai—”
“Maybe the best plan is to run away? I’ll pack my things and leave?”
“No, I should just confess to her honestly.” With that, she ran out of the bathroom.
Yun Bo pulled Tan Yun into her arms and wiped the guilt from her face. “Haven’t you noticed that Cheng Xiaoai actually has feelings for Yan Jin?”
“Feelings?” Tan Yun looked up at her.
“If she didn’t, why would she confuse us with herself and Yan Jin?”
“Memory confusion, maybe…”
“Silly!” Yun Bo kissed her eyelashes. “She saw us making love and had a wet dream about it.”
At the mention of “making love,” Tan Yun’s ears and neck burned red.
Yun Bo stopped teasing her. “Want to go check on them?”
“Yes!”
Cheng Xiaoai was stammering an explanation to Yan Jin: “I overstepped yesterday, but you’re partly responsible too. Look, I slept with you, you slept with me…”
Yan Jin frowned, then bent slightly and pointed to the bite mark on her collarbone. “So?”
“This, this—” Cheng Xiaoai really couldn’t explain this part.
Yun Bo glanced at the stunned Tan Yun, then turned slightly and pointed to the soft marks on her own body. “I have a few bite marks here too.”
Tan Yun quietly gritted her teeth. “I’ll be gentler next time.”
“I’ll take you out to play later. Let them handle their own issues,” Yun Bo said with a smile. He finally had some free time today and didn’t want to waste it here.
Tan Yun glanced worriedly at Cheng Xiaoai, who was still arguing heatedly with Yan Jin. “Then… then should we go back and change first?”
Yun Bo whispered softly in her ear, “That’s why I like your carefree nature.”
Cheng Xiaoai and Yan Jin were so engrossed in their heated debate that they didn’t notice the two quietly slipping away.
The curtains in the room were all drawn open, sunlight spilling across the floor. Yun Bo took down the vase from the bedside, while Tan Yun arranged the freshly bought jasmine flowers inside.
“Xiao Yun, are you happy?”
“Very happy.” Tan Yun gently inhaled the fragrance of the jasmine in the vase. “You know what? I used to think you liked jasmine because there was a girl hidden in your heart.”
“There is indeed a girl hidden in my heart.” His fingertips traced the contours of her face—the face he hadn’t seen for decades, the one that often appeared in his dreams, now right before his eyes.
“So… was I just a substitute?”
“Overthinking again.” Yun Bo captured her lips, his warm breath teasing her skin.
“Silly, there’s only ever been you in my heart.”
