What's Wrong with Spoiling You? [Entertainment Industry] - Chapter 55
“Back when her wings weren’t fully grown, she was bullied. Now she doesn’t have that capability,” Yun Bo replied honestly. “If she comes looking for you again, remember to tell me.”
Tan Yun said proudly, “I don’t think she’ll dare come again now that our relationship is public.”
“She’s been shelved by the company and might do anything.” Yun Bo knew Yun Chu well—even if she didn’t act out, her mother wouldn’t let Tan Yun or herself off easily. “She’s capable of anything. If you run into her, stay alert, understand?”
Tan Yun thought Yun Chu was exactly like her ex-father. “Yun Bo, don’t your parents intervene?”
Strictly speaking, they weren’t really Yun Bo’s parents, but since they were here, she might as well explain the situation.
“Yun Chu and I share the same father but have different mothers. Her mother married in, and not long after, my father passed away. All the family’s assets fell into their hands. I debuted early and didn’t rely much on their money.” Though Yun Bo hadn’t experienced it firsthand, recounting it still stirred some anger.
Tan Yun squeezed her hand. “From now on, I’ll be your family.”
Yun Bo smiled. Once an orphan, she had been adopted by a troupe leader, giving her a semblance of a home—but the loneliness inside remained unknown to anyone.
Only after meeting her had that loneliness been shattered. And in the many days after she left, Yun Bo could never readjust to that feeling again.
Tan Yun hugged her noodle bowl, took a sip of broth, and squinted contentedly. “Since elementary school, my mom and I lived on the run from my dad. Back then, I wasn’t afraid of teachers or older students—just him.”
Yun Bo looked at her with heartache. She had met Yang Dehai before, and by her calculations, he should be out of detention soon. “With me here now, no one can bully you.”
“Yeah… Actually, I never understood how he always found us no matter where we moved.”
“Every time?” Yun Bo pondered—that likely meant someone was tipping him off. “Who did you inform whenever you moved?”
“My mom handled all that. At first, she’d notify relatives and friends, but later she stopped. Yet he still found us. Eventually, we just gave up on moving.” Tan Yun’s voice carried a trace of bitterness and resignation.
Yun Bo would resolve this matter soon. “Weren’t we going to try the beggar’s chicken across the street?”
“Right, let’s eat!” Tan Yun quickly stuffed the last bite of noodles into her mouth and patted her stomach. “A whole chicken should do it.”
After paying, Yun Bo took her to the restaurant opposite. They didn’t just order the beggar’s chicken—they also got a few of the house specialties.
Tan Yun always adhered to the principle of not wasting food. Seeing the table laden with dishes, she couldn’t help but light a mental candle for herself—she’d balloon into a sphere one day at this rate.
Guessing she couldn’t possibly finish so much, Yun Bo said, “Eat what you can. It’s fine if you don’t finish—I can afford to keep you fed.”
“Yun Bo, you’re the best.”
When the beggar’s chicken was served, Tan Yun swallowed hard. This time, she managed to restrain herself from immediately tearing off a drumstick. Instead, she slowly put on gloves and began carefully pulling at it.
Watching her struggle so much, Yun Bo simply rested her chin on one hand to enjoy the show. “Looks pretty delicious,” she remarked.
Fresh out of the oven, the beggar’s chicken was glazed with butter and packed with various seasonings. Small mushrooms encircled the chicken, making the dish look utterly appetizing.
Just as Tan Yun was about to put her scalded fingers in her mouth, Yun Bo intercepted them and sucked on them herself.
Yun Bo had specifically requested a private room at the restaurant to avoid disturbances. Back at the noodle shop, she had exerted tremendous effort to suppress her desires. Now, with no one around to interrupt, it would be a shame not to indulge in this moment of leisure.
Her tongue licked Tan Yun’s fingertips, the thin layer of the glove only intensifying the ticklish sensation. Yun Bo’s smile was too alluring, and Tan Yun couldn’t resist pushing her fingers in a little deeper.
After a long while, Yun Bo finally released the fingers and, eyeing the still-intact drumstick, said, “Continue!”
“Mm!” Tan Yun quickly licked her fingers and went back to wrestling with the drumstick.
After relentless effort, she finally managed to tear it off. Eagerly, she held it up to Yun Bo’s lips, boasting, “Yun Bo, look! I got it. You eat this one—I’ll get the other.”
Yun Bo grasped her wrist, took a bite, then gestured for Tan Yun to eat as well.
Tan Yun nibbled where Yun Bo had bitten. Though they sat close, a small gap remained between them.
“Come here,” Yun Bo patted her lap. Holding her close would be far more satisfying.
Without hesitation, Tan Yun climbed onto her lap, drumstick in hand. “Yun Bo, you eat too.”
Yun Bo shook her head. “Xiao Yun, where’s your sincerity?”
“Huh?” Tan Yun didn’t understand—was she being rejected because Yun Bo didn’t want to share her bite? “I’ll go get the other drumstick then.”
Yun Bo didn’t respond, sighing in mild exasperation. “Where’s that cleverness of yours usually hiding?”
Tan Yun glanced at the drumstick in her hand, then at the one on the table, and instantly understood. She placed the half-eaten drumstick between her lips and leaned in to offer it to Yun Bo.
This time, Yun Bo was pleased. She took a bite from the other side.
Their breaths mingled, stirring mischievous thoughts in Tan Yun. “How wonderful it would be to push this beauty onto the table right now,” she mused.
But she kept the fantasy to herself. Broad daylight wasn’t the time for such boldness.
The drumstick, now imbued with their shared warmth, was slowly devoured by Yun Bo’s deliberate bites.
Tan Yun pinched the bone, tearing off the last shred of meat.
Yun Bo grabbed a napkin and wiped the grease from Tan Yun’s lips.
Pointing at the dishes on the table, Tan Yun asked, “Yun Bo, what else do you want to eat?”
“Xiao Yun, let’s play a game.” Yun Bo picked up a chopstick and waved it before her eyes.
Tan Yun grew excited—not about the rules, but about the potential reward for winning.
“If you guess what I want to eat, you’re in charge tonight,” Yun Bo tapped the chopstick against Tan Yun’s nose. “But if you lose, I call the shots.”
“Great!” Whether she won or lost, it was a reward for her. “So how do we play?”
“You’ll have one minute to memorize the position of each dish. I’ll give you a hint about which dish I want to eat, and then you guess. How does that sound?” There were currently five dishes on the table, plus a beggar’s chicken. Of course, if there were only those five dishes, it would be too easy to guess. Yun Bo added, “Later, I’ll have the waiter come in and cut the beggar’s chicken into pieces. For the second round, you’ll guess which piece I want to eat.”
“Huh?” That sounded a bit challenging. Tan Yun would rather have the upper hand—if the beauty were lying beneath her, letting her do as she pleased, it would be beyond intoxicating.
Tan Yun wasn’t about to let this opportunity slip. She nodded eagerly. “Let’s start right now.”
Yun Bo called the waiter upstairs and had him take the beggar’s chicken away.
Tan Yun quickly memorized the positions of the dishes on the table and what each one contained. After a moment, she asked, “Yun Bo, will the positions of the dishes change every round?”
Yun Bo nodded. “If we’re going to play, let’s make it harder. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be any fun!”
Tan Yun agreed. The five dishes on the table were braised chicken tongues, sweet and sour spare ribs, spicy shrimp balls, divine sea rings, and steamed perch.
Tan Yun trusted her memory for food. She nodded confidently, waiting for the waiter to bring back the sliced chicken.
Yun Bo exhaled a warm breath by her ear. “Xiao Yun, you seem very confident. Does that mean I’m doomed to lose this time?”
Tan Yun clenched her fist, brimming with confidence. “Yes, you’re definitely going to lose.”
Yun Bo hummed meaningfully. “Can I ask what you’ll do to me if you win?”
Tan Yun stroked her chin, giving Yun Bo a mischievous once-over. “Of course, I’ll do this to you first, then that.”
“Xiao Yun, have you thought about what happens if you lose?” Yun Bo seemed just as confident, given her higher chances of winning.
To improve her own odds, Tan Yun suggested, “For fairness, if you pick once, I should pick once too. How about that?”
“You’ve gotten a little smarter this time.” Yun Bo tapped her forehead with chopsticks. “So you’re determined not to let me lose?”
Tan Yun shook her head, speaking earnestly. “Of course not. Even if I lose to you, I’d be willing.”
Even if I lose to you, I’d be willing.
Those words undoubtedly pleased Yun Bo. She nuzzled Tan Yun with her chin. “Being with you makes me happy.”
“Me too.” Tan Yun closed her eyes in anticipation, praying silently. “Please let me win this time. I’m betting all my luck on it.”
Then she quickly corrected herself, “No, not all my luck. If I win, I’ll go vegetarian for half a month.”
This made Yun Bo laugh. She couldn’t bear the thought of Tan Yun eating only vegetables. “Alright, enough nonsense. The chicken’s here. Let’s begin.”
Tan Yun straddled her lap. “Come on, let’s start.”
“Why are you rubbing against me again?”
“Ah?” Since when has the beauty become so vulgar? “No, no, it’s to start the game!”
