Synopsis One

The young county princess Xie Miao and Ling Cheng, the only daughter of a distinguished military family, had known each other since childhood and were as close as sisters.

However, Xie Miao had been frail and sickly from birth. Countless imperial physicians declared that she would not live past the age of fifteen.

Ling Cheng’s greatest wish was for her to live a healthy and joyful life.

Reading Guide—Very Important

1. The main cast consists of four women, and there will be many scenes centered on their friendship. The main pairing is Ling Suihan/Xie Yuanjue, while the secondary pairing is Yan Rushun/Yin Ruoyou.
2. This is a long, ensemble-cast, plot-driven novel, with romance as a secondary focus. There will be painful moments along the way, but the ending is happy.
3. The setting is entirely fictional. It is modeled after the Tang Dynasty, but many of its details and worldbuilding elements are things I completely made up.
4. The heart of wuxia lies in the concept of xia—chivalrous heroism. By the later stages of the story, all four members of the main cast will grow into true heroes willing to sacrifice themselves for others and devote their lives to their country and its people. However, they will have some very obvious flaws in the beginning. You may criticize the author or curse the supporting characters as much as you like—just please do not curse the author’s four precious daughters.
