When the Stand-in O Differentiated into an A - Chapter 4
It was late by the time Qiao Xi arrived at Yu Xiaoxiao’s house. If it weren’t for this job, Qiao Xi would never have set foot in a house this big. She had only ever seen villas this intimidating on television.
Butler Dong arranged a room for Qiao Xi on the second floor. The villa had five floors and a small elevator. Butler Dong said she was placed on the second floor because it was quiet, and only cleaning staff would come there.
There was a restroom on every floor, and each bedroom had its own bathroom. Butler Dong meticulously showed Qiao Xi the room’s layout. Every time she saw something, Qiao Xi felt it was a little too extravagant. Her imagination about rich people was clearly too limited.
Although Butler Dong gave Qiao Xi a tour of the mansion, she was still disoriented and couldn’t figure out where anything was. As he led her back downstairs to her room, he specifically reminded her, “You can walk around other places, but never go to the fifth floor. That’s Miss Xiaoxiao’s collection room, where a lot of her valuable items are kept.”
Qiao Xi nodded vigorously. “Yes, yes, yes! I promise I won’t go!”
With that, Qiao Xi closed her door. She excitedly looked around her room. This was the first time in her twenty-plus years that she had stayed in such a large bedroom. It had its own bathroom, a huge floor-to-ceiling window, and a large, sunny balcony.
Everything in the room was clean and tidy. She was like a child in a new environment, touching things and sniffing at everything. Tired, Qiao Xi flopped onto the soft, comfortable bed.
Even though she found a great job, she hadn’t differentiated into a true omega. What would she do if Yu Xiaoxiao demanded they do “that kind of thing?”
The thought made Qiao Xi sit up like a fish on dry land. She grabbed her phone and searched: [How to differentiate quickly, I’m already in my twenties, is there still hope?]
When she pressed search, a list of articles appeared: [The normal age for a female to differentiate is between 12 and 25. Some differentiate earlier, which is related to their physical condition and health. If you want to differentiate quickly, you can find a differentiated omega or alpha to release their pheromones to induce your differentiation.]
[There are many ways to induce differentiation: 1. You can often engage in intimate activities with your omega or alpha partner. 2. An omega’s differentiation requires constant companionship from their alpha, which can accelerate it. 3. During the heat cycle, spending more time with your partner can help induce the omega pheromone.]
Qiao Xi read several articles and wrote down the useful information. She then called Wang Yangyang to let her know she was safe.
She told her she had found a job that provided room and board with great benefits and that she was now settled in, so Wang Yangyang didn’t need to worry.
Wang Yangyang sighed deeply in relief. “You’re so clueless. You’d probably be sold and not even know it. Fine. Just make sure you always have your phone with you and that it’s charged. Call me if you’re in danger. If you can’t, call the police, got it?”
Qiao Xi pouted. “Didn’t you say I wasn’t an omega last time?”
Wang Yangyang sounded flustered. “You can still be in danger even if you’re not an omega. You might not be a stunning beauty, but you’re still decent-looking, and a girl on her own is always in danger.”
Qiao Xi had only been joking. She knew Wang Yangyang cared about her, so she quickly said, “Okay, okay, I get it. I’ll treat you to a big meal when I get my first paycheck. The best one!”
Wang Yangyang scoffed. “Yeah, when you win the lottery.”
Qiao Xi insisted. “I’m not kidding, I’m serious.”
Wang Yangyang sounded a bit impatient. “Okay, okay, I’ll wait for your treat. I have to go now.”
A “beep” sounded, and the call ended. Qiao Xi sighed. Just as she was about to lie down and rest, there was a knock on the door. She got up and opened it to find Butler Dong standing there with a thin notebook.
Qiao Xi frowned slightly. “Um… is there anything else?”
Butler Dong pushed up his glasses. “Sorry to disturb your rest, Miss Qiao Xi. But here is a manual about Miss Xiaoxiao’s preferences. If you’re going to spend time with Miss Xiaoxiao, please try to follow the guidelines in this manual.”
Qiao Xi didn’t quite understand, but she took the manual anyway.
…
Back on the bed, Qiao Xi opened the manual, and the first thing she saw was “pheromones.” It said that Yu Xiaoxiao liked milk-scented pheromones.
Qiao Xi suddenly realized why she had passed the initial interview so easily: she had casually said her pheromones were milk-scented.
So Yu Xiaoxiao was into that.
The next few notes listed what Yu Xiaoxiao’s partner liked and disliked in food and drinks, as well as preferred clothing styles and disliked colors. It also mentioned expensive perfumes and cosmetics, like “Miss Yu Xiaoxiao’s partner dislikes the scent of XXX brand perfume” and “dislikes skincare products from the # brand.”
Qiao Xi had never even seen these expensive items, let alone liked or disliked them. But from today on, she would memorize this stand-in manual and work hard to please Yu Xiaoxiao every day.
…
The moon quietly climbed to its highest point in the sky. It was almost midnight. The villa’s front door suddenly opened, and a girl wearing limited-edition Air Jordans and sportswear walked in.
As she entered, a maid said, “Miss, your bath is ready. Would you like a late-night snack? I’ll have someone prepare it.”
The girl let her hair down and slipped on a pair of fluffy brown slippers. “I’m tired today. Just have them make some salad and bring it to my room.”
“Yes, I’ll see to it immediately.”
As Yu Xiaoxiao was about to go to her bath, she asked, “Where’s Uncle Dong?”
The maid replied, “The butler has been waiting for you. He completed the task you gave him today, so he’s been waiting to report to you.”
Yu Xiaoxiao was slightly taken aback. She then said, “Tell him to wait for me in the study. I’ll see him after my bath.”
“Yes!”
About an hour later, Yu Xiaoxiao, wrapped in a bathrobe, walked into the study. She was using a towel to dry her still-damp hair. When Butler Dong saw her, he quickly stood up. “Miss Xiaoxiao, you’re back.”
Yu Xiaoxiao tossed the towel aside and sat on the sofa. “How did the task I gave you go?”
Butler Dong opened the laptop he had prepared and enlarged a photo of Qiao Xi for Yu Xiaoxiao to see. Yu Xiaoxiao had just sat down and taken a sip of water, but when she saw Qiao Xi’s photo, she froze. She put down her water glass and pulled the laptop closer.
Butler Dong continued, “This is the most suitable person we could find based on your description, Miss Xiaoxiao. The similarity in appearance is as high as 83%. She’s an omega, and her pheromones are the exact scent you requested. I’ve already signed the contract with her, and she’s settled here now. She’s sleeping on the second floor.”
Yu Xiaoxiao stared at Qiao Xi’s photo, lost in thought. She didn’t pay attention to what Butler Dong was saying, but she had full confidence in his ability and efficiency. Judging from her expression, she seemed very pleased with the person he had found.
Seeing Yu Xiaoxiao happy, Butler Dong said, “Miss Xiaoxiao, you must be tired today. Why don’t you get some rest?”
Yu Xiaoxiao snapped back to reality after staring at Qiao Xi’s photo for a while. She shook her head at Butler Dong’s suggestion. “No, I’m not tired yet.”
At that moment, Yu Xiaoxiao saw Qiao Xi’s profile card and slowly read the name on it: “Qiao… Xi?” She sounded surprised and mumbled to herself, “Is it really such a coincidence?”
Yu Xiaoxiao looked up at Butler Dong. “Which room is she in? Take me to see her.”
Butler Dong opened the door for Yu Xiaoxiao. “Yes, Miss Xiaoxiao, please follow me.”
…
After asking for a little food from the villa staff, Qiao Xi took a nice bath and went to bed. It was already 1 a.m., and she was sleeping soundly. She was completely unaware that a person had quietly entered her room.
Although she hadn’t met Yu Xiaoxiao yet, she could tell from the photo that she was a great beauty. Not only would this job give her a high salary, but she would also get to be around a beautiful person every day. Just thinking about it made her smile in her sleep.
Even though there were many rules to follow as a stand-in, Qiao Xi treated it as her job, and she would naturally put her all into following the rules in the manual.
Yu Xiaoxiao used the faint light from the hallway to get a good look at Qiao Xi’s face. It was just as she had imagined, but…
Was this person’s sleep quality a little too good? A person was standing right next to her, and the light was coming in, but she didn’t even wake up!
Yu Xiaoxiao had intended to wake Qiao Xi up. She had deliberately opened the door loudly and didn’t try to be quiet when she walked, but this person was still hugging her blanket and sleeping peacefully, without a hint of self-preservation.
Yu Xiaoxiao was about to turn on the light to wake her up, but just as she was about to, she suddenly heard Qiao Xi laughing in her sleep.
She must be having a beautiful dream.
Never mind. She could see her tomorrow. There was no need to rush.
