When the Stand-in O Differentiated into an A - Chapter 6
Just as I thought, this is how you have to placate a rich miss.
However, Qiao Xi’s flattery only lasted until her food arrived. Once it was in front of her, she forgot all about the person beside her. Although skipping breakfast was a normal occurrence for her, going so long without food made her stomach ache. In a Western restaurant, the closest things to steamed buns were bread and cake.
But those desserts were for after the main course. A small piece of steak wasn’t enough to fill her up. Qiao Xi, with her sparkling cocktail, devoured her steak ravenously, then ordered three cakes.
She’d start with three, and if that wasn’t enough, she’d order more.
Qiao Xi was eating happily, completely oblivious to Yu Xiaoxiao’s increasingly sour expression. This was supposed to be a date for two, but Qiao Xi was so focused on eating that she hadn’t said a single word to her.
Yu Xiaoxiao put down her knife and fork and said in a low voice, “I don’t have an appetite. I’m not eating anymore.”
Qiao Xi, who was in the middle of scooping up a big piece of cake, paused. The cake she was about to put in her mouth fell onto the table.
Qiao Xi’s brow furrowed. “Oh no, what a waste. This cake is so expensive.”
She took a sip of her drink to wash down the cake. She looked at Yu Xiaoxiao. “Is the food not good? I think it’s delicious.”
Yu Xiaoxiao turned her head, looking annoyed. “It’s nothing, I just don’t have an appetite and don’t want to eat anymore!”
No appetite? That made sense. Yu Xiaoxiao came here for a normal meal. She could get whatever she wanted at home, so if she said she had no appetite, she really didn’t.
Hearing this, Qiao Xi reached for the half-eaten steak in front of Yu Xiaoxiao and pulled it to her side. “Since you don’t have an appetite, we can’t let this steak go to waste. Waste is a sin! I’ll just eat this for you!”
Yu Xiaoxiao’s face turned red and then purple at Qiao Xi’s actions. She suddenly stood up and walked away. Qiao Xi asked, “Xiaoxiao, where are you going?”
Yu Xiaoxiao replied coldly, “To the restroom.”
Qiao Xi said, “Oh.”
Then she went back to eating. This Western restaurant was exactly as Yu Xiaoxiao said—the food was delicious. It was the first time she had tried any of it, so she was a bit unaccustomed. But Yu Xiaoxiao was so nice to pay her a high salary and take her to such an expensive restaurant.
Wait, Yu Xiaoxiao’s face seemed off when she went to the restroom. Was she feeling unwell?
Qiao Xi’s brain, which was slower than a snail, finally caught up.
At that moment, Qiao Xi had no idea that a fuming Yu Xiaoxiao had walked to a corner and called Butler Dong. “Where did you find this person for me? She doesn’t care about my feelings at all.”
Butler Dong heard Yu Xiaoxiao’s outburst and quickly said, “Miss Xiaoxiao, please don’t be angry. It might just be because it’s Miss Qiao Xi’s first day, and she’s not familiar with you. If you spend a few more days with her, it might get better.”
Yu Xiaoxiao was furious. “I don’t care. I’m annoyed with her. Get her replaced!”
Butler Dong sounded troubled. “Miss Xiaoxiao, this is the twelfth person you’ve replaced this month. Usually, you don’t replace people until after a few days. Why don’t you try to get along with Miss Qiao Xi for a bit longer? After all, she has an 80% resemblance to the person in your photo. If you let her go, we might not be able to find someone who looks as much like her as Miss Qiao Xi does.”
“I don’t care. I want her gone by tomorrow!” Yu Xiaoxiao said and angrily hung up the phone.
Yu Xiaoxiao had hated being ignored since she was a child. She had always known she was different from other people. While other children could go to kindergarten and play with everyone, she had to stay home with private tutors.
She didn’t like this life, but everyone around her envied her.
Nothing made her angrier than being ignored.
Yu Xiaoxiao’s hands were trembling with anger. She hung up and decided to drive home by herself. As for Qiao Xi… she could go hang out wherever she felt like.
Just as Yu Xiaoxiao turned around, she saw Qiao Xi standing in front of her with a worried expression. Qiao Xi saw that Yu Xiaoxiao’s face was even paler than before, and as she approached, she thought she heard Yu Xiaoxiao arguing with someone.
Was she angry with someone?
Yu Xiaoxiao froze when she saw Qiao Xi. She wasn’t sure if Qiao Xi had heard her conversation with Butler Dong. Qiao Xi quickly walked up and took Yu Xiaoxiao’s arm. “Xiaoxiao, where did you go? I couldn’t find you in the restroom, so I got a little worried. What were you doing here?”
Yu Xiaoxiao shook her arm free, her face starting to turn red. “I… I wasn’t doing anything.”
Qiao Xi hung her head like a puppy admitting fault. “I’m sorry, Xiaoxiao. I was so hungry I just focused on eating and didn’t take care of you. But I’m all full now. Are you still hungry? If not, we can go somewhere else?”
Yu Xiaoxiao was still so angry, but she suddenly calmed down when she heard what Qiao Xi said.
What was Qiao Xi doing? Was she apologizing to her?
Maybe. She had been furious a moment ago, but now her anger felt like it had been doused with a bucket of water. She felt as though steam were coming out of her head.
Qiao Xi noticed Yu Xiaoxiao’s face getting redder and redder. She panicked and grabbed Yu Xiaoxiao’s arms. “Xiaoxiao, what’s… what’s wrong with you? Why is your face so red? Are you sick? I’ll take you to the hospital!”
Only after hearing Qiao Xi’s words did Yu Xiaoxiao feel how hot her face was. Her whole body felt warm.
Yu Xiaoxiao’s eyes widened in disbelief. I took an inhibitor three days ago. Why would I…
She looked up at Qiao Xi with teary, blurry eyes. It must be because she made me angry! Her doctor had told her that strong emotions could also induce pheromone release.
This was a public place, and there were so many people here. She was the only daughter of a famous entrepreneur. If people found out she was an omega, it would definitely affect the company’s stock and business relationships. No! She couldn’t stay here!
But Yu Xiaoxiao was feeling worse and worse. Her hand instinctively grabbed Qiao Xi’s.
That’s right, the inhibitors were in the car. She just needed to get to the garage!
Just then, someone exclaimed with a look of longing, “Do you smell that wonderful scent?”
“I think so. Is the restaurant using incense? It’s so nice, it makes you happy.”
Qiao Xi looked back but didn’t smell anything.
Yu Xiaoxiao gripped Qiao Xi’s hand tightly and buried her head in Qiao Xi’s chest.
Qiao Xi was a bit taken aback by Yu Xiaoxiao’s sudden embrace. Her hands didn’t know where to go. “Xiaoxiao, what’s wrong? Do you want to go to the hospital?”
Yu Xiaoxiao mumbled from her chest, “Shut up!”
Although her voice was very low, Qiao Xi could tell she was annoyed.
As Qiao Xi stood there, unsure of what to do, Yu Xiaoxiao looked up at her with tearful, pitiful eyes. “Hug me. Hold me in your arms.”
Oh… on the first day? Was she serious?
Qiao Xi hesitated. Yu Xiaoxiao’s grip on her tightened. “Hurry up! Hold me and take me back to the car! I don’t feel well. Hurry!”
Her voice sounded like she was about to cry. Qiao Xi had never seen a beautiful woman in tears before. She didn’t have time to think. She just had to confirm one thing: “You’re telling me to hold you, so don’t you dare regret it later.”
“Hurry…”
Qiao Xi immediately wrapped her arms around Yu Xiaoxiao. As she did, Yu Xiaoxiao’s face remained buried in her chest. Yu Xiaoxiao was now relying on Qiao Xi to guide her.
The couple’s intimate public display attracted a lot of attention.
Throughout the walk, Yu Xiaoxiao urged Qiao Xi to hurry. Qiao Xi didn’t stop until she had rushed Yu Xiaoxiao all the way to the parking lot. By the time she put Yu Xiaoxiao in the car, her face was bright red, as if she had a high fever.
Once inside the car, Yu Xiaoxiao rummaged around for a box of inhibitors. She quickly grabbed a few pills and swallowed them. She had been so preoccupied with not wanting to expose herself that she hadn’t paid any mind to Qiao Xi, who was standing outside the car looking more worried than ever.
After swallowing the bitter pills, she looked out the car window and saw that Qiao Xi was no longer there.
That was probably for the best. She didn’t want anyone to see her in such a state.
But the pills were hard to swallow without water. Her throat felt dry, and it felt like something was stuck in it. She started coughing. Just as she was covering her mouth and coughing violently, a bottle of water appeared in front of her.
Yu Xiaoxiao froze, then looked up along the hand holding the bottle.
Qiao Xi saw Yu Xiaoxiao’s stunned expression and twisted open the cap of the water bottle. “I bought this from the vending machine. You don’t look well. Have some water.”
Yu Xiaoxiao took the water bottle. “Thank you,” she said softly.
After a few sips, Yu Xiaoxiao felt much better. When she had recovered, she told Qiao Xi to get in the car.
Qiao Xi didn’t ask what had happened. Since Yu Xiaoxiao didn’t want to talk about it, she wouldn’t push it. Although the heiress’s temper was unpredictable, when you treated her well and made her happy, she was quite endearing.
Once Yu Xiaoxiao was fully recovered, she drove away from the commercial building.
