Butler Dong didn’t expect the look Yu Xiaoxiao gave him. He quickly said, “Miss Qiao Xi! I apologize, but that was a little joke to test your resolve to be Miss Xiaoxiao’s stand-in. You have now passed the test.”

Qiao Xi instantly stopped crying. She turned to Yu Xiaoxiao. “Is that true?”

Yu Xiaoxiao helplessly reached out and wiped the tears from her cheeks. “Alright, don’t cry anymore. Go pack your things and come to my room.”

Although Qiao Xi didn’t quite understand what Yu Xiaoxiao meant, she didn’t have to pack her bags and leave. At this point, she would do anything Yu Xiaoxiao wanted.

“Okay, I’ll go right now!” With that, Qiao Xi went upstairs to get her belongings.

Yu Xiaoxiao held her forehead in a headache, while Butler Dong laughed merrily beside her. “Miss Qiao Xi is truly a simple person. Someone like her is a good person to have around. Miss Xiaoxiao, if you don’t dislike her too much, you should keep her around for a few more days.”

Yu Xiaoxiao looked up at him. “From now on, you don’t need to worry about her. If I tell you to fire her, I’m probably just talking nonsense. Whatever she wants, you just do it. But whether she stays or goes will be my decision.”

Butler Dong’s face lit up with an affectionate smile. This was the first time he had seen Yu Xiaoxiao change her mind for someone. It was a shame Qiao Xi was an omega; otherwise, she would have made a good girlfriend.

“Yes. I’ll go prepare dinner then.”

Qiao Xi had only moved into the villa yesterday, and she only brought one suitcase. There wasn’t much inside, so she quickly packed and went to Yu Xiaoxiao’s room.

Yu Xiaoxiao’s bedroom was more than twice the size of her own. Qiao Xi was a bit stunned when she walked in; she had never seen a bedroom this big. Besides the bathroom, the room also had a walk-in closet. These were just the clothes Yu Xiaoxiao wore at home; the clothes she wore for formal events were in a separate room.

Qiao Xi was afraid to move around. She just put her suitcase in an empty corner and sat on the bed to wait for Yu Xiaoxiao. The bed was very clean, but the room was so big that she felt a sense of loneliness sitting there all by herself.

Just as Qiao Xi sat down, Yu Xiaoxiao came in. Qiao Xi quickly stood up, but since she had been sitting for a while and the lights were off, she felt a little dizzy. She suddenly lost her balance and fell back onto the bed with a thump.

Luckily, the bed was soft enough that she didn’t feel a thing.

Yu Xiaoxiao found the light switch on the wall, and the room was filled with light. Qiao Xi awkwardly got up on her feet, smiling at Yu Xiaoxiao. “Xiaoxiao, you’re back.”

Yu Xiaoxiao put her hands on her hips and raised an eyebrow at Qiao Xi. “What are you doing?”

Qiao Xi laughed. “Your room is so big that I’m a little overwhelmed.”

Yu Xiaoxiao usually hated it when people came into her room, but she couldn’t bring herself to be mad at Qiao Xi, maybe because of how Qiao Xi helped her out today.

Yu Xiaoxiao beckoned to her with her hand. Qiao Xi scurried over. Yu Xiaoxiao said, “It’s time for dinner.”

Qiao Xi’s eyes lit up when she heard the word “dinner.” She had spent the whole afternoon trying on clothes, and to avoid upsetting Yu Xiaoxiao, she hadn’t taken a single break. Her stomach had been rumbling since it got dark, and now she could finally eat.

She was the type of person who could get over any bad thing that happened to her with a good meal.

But as she was about to follow Yu Xiaoxiao downstairs, she suddenly stopped. Yu Xiaoxiao saw her deep in thought and asked, “What’s wrong?”

Qiao Xi pointed to the dress she was wearing. “Can I change out of this first?”

Yu Xiaoxiao’s brow furrowed slightly. “Why? Does it not look good?”

Qiao Xi shook her head quickly. “No, no, the dress is beautiful. It’s just that I feel like if I wear such a nice and expensive dress to dinner, what if I get it dirty? So…”

Besides, who knew if this dress was single-use? If she were to get it dirty just from eating, Qiao Xi would be heartbroken.

Yu Xiaoxiao sighed helplessly at Qiao Xi’s serious expression. “Fine, go change first.”

Qiao Xi took off the dress as fast as she could after getting Yu Xiaoxiao’s permission, and Yu Xiaoxiao went downstairs. To eat sooner, Qiao Xi quickly dug out her ducky pajamas from her suitcase and put them on.

On her first day at the villa, Butler Dong had given her a new pair of slippers. All the shoes on the rack in the entryway were Yu Xiaoxiao’s, and Yu Xiaoxiao hated it when people touched her things, so the slippers for guests were a temporary arrangement by Butler Dong.

Butler Dong was a great butler who kept everything in the villa in perfect order.

Since it was just Yu Xiaoxiao and Qiao Xi for dinner, Yu Xiaoxiao sat at the birch table next to the kitchen.

Qiao Xi was excited as she went downstairs to eat, but when she saw a line of “green foods” on the table, her spirits immediately sank.

She couldn’t believe Yu Xiaoxiao’s idea of dinner was salad!

Salad for dinner? She was expecting a candlelit dinner at the very least!

Yu Xiaoxiao seemed to notice Qiao Xi’s bitter expression and asked with concern, “What’s wrong, darling? Does the food not suit you?”

“Food?” Where was the food? All she saw was a table of green leaves…

But Qiao Xi thought that Yu Xiaoxiao was what mattered most. Despite her strange temper, Yu Xiaoxiao had been quite nice to her.

Qiao Xi forced a big smile. “No, I love salad!”

Yu Xiaoxiao saw her looking happy and didn’t ask anything else. Qiao Xi sat across from Yu Xiaoxiao, hesitated for a moment, and then picked up her fork.

Yu Xiaoxiao ate her salad and said, “You passed the test ahead of time, so you’ll be sleeping with me tonight.”

Qiao Xi looked up at Yu Xiaoxiao, who was seriously eating her vegetables. Qiao Xi found her so cute, like a fluffy, feisty little lamb. Qiao Xi couldn’t hold back a laugh.
