Willow on the Palace Wall (Lily ABO) - Chapter 6
006: A Malevolent Spirit
Even after reliving her life, she still hadn’t fully understood the true meaning behind Su Ce’s words.
The Hu woman, however, clearly understood then and there. She had already given up, but she suddenly began to struggle violently, using a desperate, self-destructive strength. Su Ce could barely hold her down.
Su Ce showed no surprise. She slowly tightened her fingers around the woman’s neck, looking down at her frantic, last-ditch struggle. The side of Su Ce’s face was bathed in the cold moonlight, like a sharpened, gleaming blade too bright to look at directly.
“Guards, guards, come quickly!” The Imperial Noble Consort, who had just recovered, screamed at the top of her lungs. The elaborate gown she was wearing, so carefully chosen, was now a mess, having been drenched in a whole pot of osmanthus wine during her frantic hiding. She didn’t even notice the musky scent of her own pheromones mixing into the chaos.
The guards finally rushed in from outside the hall, each of them looking completely bewildered.
“Help me, please… help me!” the Hu woman suddenly pleaded in a hoarse voice. Xiao Chu initially thought she was begging Su Ce to spare her and was just about to scorn the woman’s wishful thinking when she was horrified by the splashes of blood.
It was Su Ce. She had sliced open the Hu woman’s neck with one swift motion, causing blood to gush out instantly.
She was clearly used to this kind of thing. She deftly turned to avoid the spray, and not a single drop of blood landed on her clothes. Even the beads of blood on her short blade were shaken off cleanly as she sheathed it.
The Hu woman twitched a few times before she went completely limp. A toothless maw seemed to have suddenly appeared on her neck, and she was vomiting out her own blood. A strange, satisfied smile remained on her face.
The Crown Prince also saw Su Ce’s actions, but her face was hidden in shadow, making her expression impossible to read. The only visible sign of her inner state was her hand resting on the table, tensed until the veins bulged.
The overpowering smell of blood immediately filled the hall, completely suppressing the various scents that had been stirring in the room. Xiao Chu couldn’t help but sniff, and she was surprised to find a hint of sweetness in the bloody scent. She suspected she had gone mad.
It was only on her wedding night, when her father kicked her into the bridal chamber, that she saw a heat-struck Su Ce, her body in distress from the aphrodisiac incense. She saw the phoenix headdress and brocade wedding dress Su Ce had subconsciously torn off and thrown all over the room. It was then, when she smelled the sweet, bloody scent filling the air, that she realized it was the scent of Su Ce’s own pheromones.
“I report to the Emperor, the assassin has committed suicide. It is my incompetence that I could not stop her!”
Su Ce knelt in a dignified manner to beg forgiveness, her eyes showing no emotion whatsoever.
The king of Great Liang, terrified and not knowing what to do, hurriedly said, “It’s fine, it’s fine,” before retreating from the banquet, sweating profusely. He even forgot to tell Su Ce to rise.
Xiao Chu watched Su Ce slowly stand up, a figure standing amidst the bloodied floor. She was like a red plum against white snow—elegant and pure, yet also somehow bewitching and seductive.
How could a Beta be like this?
“A malevolent spirit!” she swore to herself then and there. She had to stay as far away from her as possible. She didn’t want to die so horribly, like that Hu woman.
