A Hidden Marriage Daily Life with the Film Empress O - Chapter 14
The cold air in the car seeped out in thin streams from the vents, making the air even chillier.
Si Beimuo leaned back in her seat, her posture relaxed to the point of laziness. Her fingertips lightly swiped across Chang Qingyuan’s phone screen. She skillfully entered the passcode, opened WeChat, and slowly checked the chat records one by one, as if she were flipping through her own things.
“Yuanyuan, is that person named Chang Ke your sister?”
She suddenly raised her eyes. Her gaze shifted away from the screen and landed on Chang Qingyuan’s side profile, which was covered by a mask. Her tone was casual, as if she were asking about the weather.
“Mm.”
Chang Qingyuan answered very softly. Her gaze fell on the street scenery rapidly retreating outside the window. Her long lashes cast faint shadows behind the sunglasses, and the lines of her side profile were so exquisite they seemed carved. She still looked gentle and harmless.
Si Beimuo did not ask further. Her fingertips continued swiping across the screen. Whenever she saw a contact she disliked, she pressed and held without hesitation, then blocked them. Her movements were clean and decisive.
She leaned over, pulled down Chang Qingyuan’s mask, and kissed those slightly pale lips. Yet her tone was full of careless dominance.
“It’s fine… Be good, Yuanyuan. I blocked those useless people. I don’t like them circling around you.”
She shook the phone. The contact list on the screen had instantly become much cleaner.
“Your chat interface and call history only need your family and me.”
“…Mm.”
There was no emotion in Chang Qingyuan’s voice. She only turned her head slightly, allowing Si Beimuo to put the mask back on her and cover that beautiful face tightly once more.
The cold air in the car seemed to grow a little colder, almost burrowing into the gaps between her bones.
She quietly watched Si Beimuo tuck the phone back into her own pocket. Her beautiful eyes looked over through the lenses of her sunglasses, still without much ripple, as though she had long grown used to this almost perverse level of control.
But beneath the mask, the corner of her mouth lifted into a very faint, wicked smile.
She’s gotten a little sicker again, she thought silently.
This feeling of being firmly held in the Omega’s palm, with even the slightest gap for contact with the outside world cut off completely, was like a fine needle gently piercing her skin. A secret excitement spread through her entire body along with her blood, boiling until her fingertips trembled faintly.
Si Beimuo was clearly very satisfied with her own “masterpiece.” A delighted smile spread across her face. She reached over and very intimately tidied the loose strands of hair resting on Chang Qingyuan’s shoulder. Her fingertips intentionally or unintentionally brushed past the row of bite marks on the side of her neck that had not yet fully faded. Her movements were so gentle it was as if she were protecting a rare treasure.
It was just like an ordinary interaction between countless close married wives.
Before the car had even come to a full stop, waves of cheers and screams rose outside, each louder than the last, mixed with the clicking sounds of camera shutters. Even through the car windows, the surging enthusiasm could be felt.
Chang Qingyuan turned her head and looked through the dark-tinted window from afar. A dense crowd surrounded the entrance of the venue ahead, holding light signs and support items. At a glance, the crowd seemed endless.
She instinctively leaned a little closer to Si Beimuo. Even with the mask on, the flash of disgust between her brows and eyes was still visible—she had never liked crowded places.
As for Si Beimuo beside her, there was not the slightest hint of surprise on her face. There was even a trace of accustomed sharpness in her eyes. That made sense. She was an actress beneath the spotlight, long used to being surrounded by crowds and chased by people’s gazes.
“Yuanyuan… who are you looking at?”
The sudden voice exploded beside her ear, carrying shards of ice. Warm breath brushed over her ear. Chang Qingyuan’s heart stirred slightly.
She had taken the bait.
When Chang Qingyuan turned back, she had not even clearly seen Si Beimuo’s expression before a cold hand clamped fiercely around her slender neck.
The force carried undisguised anger. Si Beimuo’s fingertips sank hard into the flesh at the side of her neck, almost cutting off her breath.
Si Beimuo wore sunglasses, so the madness in her eyes could not be seen. But the sentence squeezed out between her teeth came word by word, like a poisoned blade.
“Who. Are. You. Looking. At?”
“Wu… Beimuo…”
Chang Qingyuan was pressed back against the seat by her. No matter how tall and slender the Alpha was, at this moment, she could only be forced to tilt her head up, exposing the fragile line of her neck.
From this angle, the countless cameras outside the car window were pointed directly at them. The flashbulbs lit up again and again, like countless spying eyes.
The reporters holding microphones saw that the people inside the car still had not gotten out and had already begun whispering among themselves. The murmurs slipped in through the gaps of the car window, adding a few more traces of tension.
She deliberately coughed twice. Her voice carried the hoarseness of someone being choked, yet a hidden delight flashed through her eyes. In the end, she acted helpless and squeezed two words out from between her teeth.
“Jiang Wan.”
