A Hidden Marriage Daily Life with the Film Empress O - Chapter 4
“Eldest Sister.”
Chang Qingyuan waited until the two little girls had entered the house before closing the door and greeting Chang Ke, whom she had not seen in a long time.
“Yuanyuan really is getting prettier and prettier.” Chang Ke walked over carelessly and hugged her younger sister, who was half a head taller than her. “Tsk, tsk. What a good seedling for the entertainment industry.”
“Eldest Sister, don’t tease me. How could I possibly enter the entertainment industry?”
Hah. With Si Beimuo’s temper, if she found out, wouldn’t she tear my legs off?
“Ah, that’s true. The waters in the entertainment industry are too deep. My precious little sister had better not learn bad things… Oh my god, I almost forgot about my livestream.”
One second, Chang Ke still looked frivolous and unserious; the next, she rushed anxiously to the sofa to look for her phone. As she searched, she muttered nonstop, “It’s over, it’s over. If I don’t stream enough time today, my salary will be deducted.”
Seeing that she was the only one left there, Chang Qingyuan turned on her phone. She looked at the woman on the trending search who was hugging Si Beimuo, and her eyes darkened with a gloomy malice.
An Omega?
Mom’s urging sounded again from the living room, and Chang Qingyuan put on a smile as she temporarily slipped her phone back into her pocket.
The time hasn’t come yet.
“Hi, today’s stream started late…”
Chang Ke was very professional. She moved a small stool by herself, turned on the balcony light, and sat there all alone, grinning as she greeted her fans.
“Who’s behind me?”
After a wave of greetings and concern filled the comments section, the same question somehow began popping up. Chang Ke turned back and happened to see her beautiful younger sister leaning against the wine cabinet in a daze, backlit by the light. Her skin was fair—so fair that it almost reflected the light. Her brow was slightly raised, as if she were thinking of something that made her very happy.
Chang Ke was clever. Following the principle of not affecting her younger sister’s private life, she shifted toward her and happened to completely block her from view. Then she laughed it off perfunctorily.
“My younger sister. Pretty, right?”
The netizens did not buy it. They flooded the screen, saying they wanted to see her sister. Naturally, Chang Ke was unwilling. Her mind was quick and her mouth was clever; with just a few sentences, she smoothly pulled the gradually derailed comments section back on track.
At the same time, Chang Qingyuan looked at the surveillance footage on her phone, and the smile in her eyes deepened.
“Mom, something came up. I’m leaving first.”
“Ah, the food is already ready. Why are you leaving, Yuanyuan?”
The person who came out of the room was the mother of the four sisters—Chang Si.
Chang Ke looked the most like Chang Si. Although Chang Si was already in her forties, she did not look her age at all. Her beautiful features and excellent bone structure all showed how stunning a beauty she must have been when she was young.
Chang Si was in very poor health. Thin and tall, she had only taken a few steps, yet beads of sweat already formed from the strain of breathing.
“Sorry, Mother. Something happened with one of my students. I have to go over. Please tell Mom for me.”
Chang Qingyuan casually made up a lie, grabbed the coat that was on the chair, turned around, and opened the door.
Chang Si seemed about to say something to make her stay, but before she could speak, Chang Qingyuan, standing outside the door, interrupted her.
“Mother, you should go to the hospital for a checkup during this period.”
After a pause, she added, “You and Mom don’t need to worry about money.”
Finally, Chang Qingyuan raised her eyes and looked at the pale, weak mother before her.
“Take care of your health.”
With that one sentence, she closed the door. The weather outside was somewhat chilly. Fortunately, she had taken a thin jacket.
When night spread upward, everything around seemed to be soaked in warm water; even the wind was so light that it did not dare stir. Through the thin mist, the streetlights blurred into circles of orange-yellow, like melted sugar cubes suspended in midair. Tree shadows swayed on the ground, yet never truly settled, as if someone had dipped a fingertip in ink and casually smeared a few strokes across the damp pavement.
In the distance was boundless darkness.
She hated darkness.
She hated it very much…
Si Beimuo was a Film Empress, so the security level of the place she lived in was extremely high. Every time someone entered, they had to register, sign in, and leave a record. Chang Qingyuan was very familiar with this. She seemed to be in an exceptionally good mood, walking slowly and leisurely, even humming an unknown little tune under her breath.
“Beimuo?”
Chang Qingyuan arrived at the door with practiced ease. After entering her fingerprint, she slowly pushed the door open. Immediately, a strong, pungent smell of hard liquor rushed into her nose and filled her chest. She could not help but cover her mouth and nose with her hand, coughing lightly.
After she walked in, the light from the hallway dispelled the darkness inside the room. Yet instead, it seemed to be swallowed by the thick night, leaving only a small, blurry halo of light by the doorway.
Chang Qingyuan was nearsighted, and she had always been afraid of the dark. Yet at times like this, she especially liked it. She longed to see clearly the emotions of the person hidden in the darkness.
The lights in the living room were off. Only the moonlight outside flowed over the balcony and seeped across the floor, spreading into a faint patch of silver-white that barely outlined the shapes of the furniture.
A figure was sitting on the single-seater sofa, her back to the only light source. Against the silhouette of the window, she looked especially heavy.
