A Vicious Female Rival Omega is Sweet and Soft - Chapter 9
As the designated dinner time approached, Ye Yixi drove to the base of Shen Qingran’s apartment complex. Originally, Shen Qingran had intended to drive herself directly, but Ye Yixi stubbornly insisted on picking her up and dropping her off. With no other alternative, she simply went along with this person’s wishes.
“007, I feel like you’ve been getting more and more amiable lately…” Ye Yixi spoke with a hidden meaning. She was highly confused by the System’s unprovoked leniency. For instance, when she had acted all spoiled toward Shen Qingran this morning and subsequently arranged a dinner date with her, 007 hadn’t jumped out once to deduct points, which left her somewhat fearful.
“Host, your current behavior of playing the attentive suitor and currying favor is not all that different from how the original owner used to flirt with girls, so it does not count as OOC.”
………Ye Yixi was suddenly rendered speechless.
What does that mean? Is it comparing me to that Scum Alpha? How could I be that ridiculous! Besides, flirting with girls was completely out of the question; she held absolutely no romantic intentions toward Shen Qingran!
Ye Yixi fiercely refuted this in her mind, yet she felt a vague sensation that her behavior during this period had been exceptionally strange—it seemed she truly was paying far too much attention to Shen Qingran. Perhaps, during their interactions, she felt that the other woman’s fundamental nature wasn’t bad, and the subsequent development of the plot shouldn’t turn out that way… Having developed a sense of compassion, Ye Yixi constantly wanted to alter things.
Amidst these tangled, messy thoughts, Ye Yixi’s car unconsciously arrived at the entrance of Shen Qingran’s family villa. She could only pull up behind the perimeter fence. There was a small security booth here with two guards stationed outside, also equipped with a facial-recognition lock.
In her memory database, the original owner had never visited Shen Qingran’s residence either. Since transmigrating into the book, Ye Yixi seemed to have already established quite a few “firsts” with Shen Qingran…
Ye Yixi poked her head out to peer inside; this plot of land featured only a single, exceptionally large standalone villa. It looked grand and opulent, looking significantly more imposing than her own home! Shen Qingran was remarkably punctual; barely a few minutes after Ye Yixi sent her an “I’ve arrived” sticker, she walked down. She was sporting the same styling from the afternoon, merely having switched to a slightly thicker outer cardigan.
Ye Yixi looked down at her own figure-accentuating V-neck blouse paired with a chic Chanel-style jacket, suddenly wondering if she had dressed a bit too extravagantly…
“We’re almost there. I reserved a table at a steakhouse, though I’m not sure if it suits Miss Shen’s tastes.” Wanting to strike up a conversation, Ye Yixi occasionally glanced at Shen Qingran through the rearview mirror, but this person kept her eyes glued outside the window, offering only her profile.
“In any case, I am the one treating Miss Ye to dinner, so as long as you like it, that’s fine.” Shen Qingran’s tone was flat, sounding precisely like someone forced to fulfill a mandatory obligation.
But reality was indeed exactly like that. Under normal circumstances, Shen Qingran would absolutely never agree to a dinner request from Ye Yixi. However, since she was the one who had opened her mouth first, she naturally wouldn’t go back on her word. Furthermore, what Shen Qingran loathed most was owing favors to others!! If she didn’t settle this matter evenly, she would likely brood over it for a lifetime.
Yet, after hearing this response, Ye Yixi’s enthusiasm waned, leaving her feeling somewhat hollow.
They finally arrived at their destination. A foreign waiter dressed in a sharp suit escorted the two of them to a private VIP booth. The table was already set with candles to enhance the atmosphere, and Ye Yixi and Shen Qingran sat facing one another.
“Miss Ye, I sincerely thank you for the assistance you’ve rendered me recently. Come, let me toast you.”
Shen Qingran raised her glass, which, although filled with a crimson liquid, wasn’t wine but rather freshly squeezed fruit juice. This choice took into account that Shen Qingran truly lacked any alcohol tolerance; after all, the scene of her collapsing after half a glass was still vivid in Ye Yixi’s mind. Considering that she had to drive later, the contents of Ye Yixi’s glass were likewise juice.
“Miss Shen is far too polite, though I don’t harbor any expectations of currying a favor from Miss Shen. I only hope to clear up our previous misunderstandings… or wipe the slate completely clean, so that I can find peace of mind.”
Tsk, talk about touching a sore spot. Hearing those words, Shen Qingran visibly knit her brow. Ye Yixi’s past transgressions had always remained a hurdle in her heart; no Omega would remain completely unbothered after being violated by an Alpha’s pheromones.
Shen Qingran evaluated the Ye Yixi before her eyes again. Her face was full of absolute sincerity, creating a profound sense of fracture compared to her past self. This was precisely the detail that had left Shen Qingran deeply confused recently—something felt off, but not explicitly so.
“I am hardly a petty, narrow-minded person, and I naturally wish to maintain normal interactions with Miss Ye in the future…” Shen Qingran lowered her gaze, gently swirling the vibrant red juice inside her glass. Today, her lipstick application was quite minimal, yet her tender pink lips were stained with a rich crimson hue after taking a sip of the juice, making them look remarkably delicate and inviting. A hint of amusement entered Shen Qingran’s eyes, though it carried an undercurrent of danger. “However, quite a few incidents have transpired between the two of us. I wonder which specific account Miss Ye wishes to clear up first?”
The corners of Shen Qingran’s lips curved into a slight smirk, her tone incredibly airy. The warm orange light cascaded from overhead, outlining her exquisite contours while leaving the other half hidden in the shadows, masking her emotions. The graceful melody of a violin drifted around their ears, yet Ye Yixi found herself turning entirely awkward. She instinctively swallowed her saliva, experiencing a distinct visual sensation of being trapped inside a demon’s cavern, expecting to have her heart gouged out in the next second.
And she claims she isn’t narrow-minded… This clearly referenced both the past forced kiss and the recent romance rumor. The two of us being so bold as to run out for a dinner date—did the paparazzi snap more photos of us? Ye Yixi grumbled internally, subsequently tugging at her jacket to straighten her spine. This series of micro-movements was executed solely to mask her embarrassment. Her gaze drifted aimlessly as she picked up her glass and took a tiny sip of juice.
“Going into… into extreme specifics won’t be necessary, haha. As long as Miss Shen drops the past grudges, that’s fine.”
This awkward dialogue ground to a halt when the fragrant steaks were served. Ye Yixi quickly sliced a few pieces and shoved them into her mouth. This food had truly arrived at the perfect moment!
Shen Qingran, on the other hand, acted completely unbothered, using her knife and fork to take small bites while occasionally tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, her movements exceptionally elegant. Ye Yixi couldn’t resist looking up at her constantly, only to accidentally lock eyes with Shen Qingran, causing her to frantically avert her gaze and lower her head again.
This meal left Ye Yixi feeling thoroughly exhausted; by the end of it, she felt somewhat restless in her seat. She felt as though Shen Qingran’s aura tonight was exceptionally powerful. Of course, it was also highly probable that Ye Yixi simply felt guilty; whenever that stupid blunder committed by the original owner was brought up, she lost all her backbone.
On the drive back, Shen Qingran remained quietly seated in the back row of Ye Yixi’s car. After a short while, she rolled her window down halfway, and the wind instantly ruffled her hair. The sky had darkened completely, yet the exterior remained brilliantly lit. Through the rearview mirror, Ye Yixi saw Shen Qingran lean her face closer toward the open window, unsure of what she was thinking about.
Shen Qingran’s lifestyle was actually significantly simpler than she had imagined. Ye Yixi had originally assumed that Miss Shen would possess the sharp, biting demeanor typical of a wealthy socialite heiress; after all, the Mary Sue world of the original book had designated her with a vicious persona. Yet, Ye Yixi discovered that this wasn’t the case.
Shen Qingran couldn’t handle liquor, she raised small animals, her usual style of dress was relatively casual, and her speech toward anyone was perfectly proper—at most, she acted a bit petulant in front of her specifically. Of course, that detail could be chalked up to the original owner’s fault. Combining all other departments, Ye Yixi’s overall impression of Shen Qingran was actually an elegant, “cool older sister” face hiding a tsundere, adorable little girl inside?
“Miss Shen, the night breeze is a bit chilly, and your body hasn’t fully recovered yet. Why don’t you roll the window up?”
“Mm, alright. Thank you for your concern, Miss Ye.”
Ye Yixi brought up a casual topic, but she truly was considering Shen Qingran’s physical health. Once the window slid shut, she put on some music. A soothing melody drifted out, circulating within the cramped confines of the vehicle and inducing a sense of relaxation. Shen Qingran seemed to no longer feel awkward about offering her thanks, appearing completely at ease with it.
Unsure of whether it was due to the lyrics and melody being entirely too tender and intimate, Ye Yixi’s brain gradually grew dizzy and heavy. She hadn’t consumed a single drop of alcohol tonight, so at this moment, she merely wondered if she was experiencing some fatigue. Drowsy driving was completely out of the question; Ye Yixi was forced to bite down hard on her own lower lip, the metallic taste of blood and sharp sting instantly jolting her back into maximum alertness.
This method proved remarkably effective. While Ye Yixi’s mind was restored to clarity, she kept sensing a faint, trace fragrance of something sweet and rich circulating through the car. She hadn’t placed any air fresheners inside the vehicle, nor was she storing any food, but she didn’t dwell on it too heavily. She merely felt that as she continued inhaling this scent, her cheeks showed signs of turning burning hot…
During the journey, the base of Ye Yixi’s ears and her neck gradually broke into a sweat and flushed red. She finally realized something was amiss. Although her real self had never experienced it, as an Alpha in this world, she already comprehended that this was a physiological response—and a textbook reaction to being influenced by pheromones.
Dammit! A realization struck Ye Yixi. She immediately spun around to look at the back seat. Unknown when, Shen Qingran had leaned her entire body completely against the backrest. Drooping her head, she wrapped her arms around herself, preventing Ye Yixi from catching her expression at all.
“Miss Shen, what’s wrong? Can you still hold on?” Ye Yixi’s tone was frantic. This sweet aroma was currently radiating from Shen Qingran’s body in a continuous, unchecked stream. A leakage of pheromones meant an Omega was entering her heat cycle ahead of schedule. Generally speaking, wealthy socialites like them would receive injections of expensive, potent suppressants to delay the onset of a heat cycle; logically, it was impossible for Shen Qingran to go into heat at this exact moment. Why on earth is this happening…
“Hot… so hot…” Shen Qingran murmured softly under her breath, her tone sounding immensely strained.
Ye Yixi’s mind turned into absolute mush. Operating a vehicle made it difficult for her to keep turning her head, so she had to frantically search the vicinity for a parking space to bring the car to a halt first. After circling around several blocks without finding a spot, Ye Yixi hardened her heart and simply pulled up near a small boutique hotel. She couldn’t care less about getting a traffic ticket now; for an unmarked Omega, this kind of situation was exceptionally perilous. She needed to secure suppressants to alleviate it immediately, otherwise the consequences would be unthinkable.
Unbuckling her seatbelt, she stepped out of the car and immediately lunged toward the back seat to evaluate Shen Qingran’s condition. The woman was already so weakened that her forehead was drenched in sweat, her face deathly pale, with only her lower lip bitten so hard it bled. The instant the Alpha’s pheromones edged closer, Shen Qingran couldn’t resist pressing her entire body onto Ye Yixi. Carried by this movement, the back door accidentally swung shut, and her discomfort instantly received a modicum of relief—that wave of burning heat desperately craved the soothing comfort of an Alpha.
Ye Yixi was thrown into utter chaos. She felt her brain turning dizzy from the sheer impact of the sweet, rich aroma wafting off Shen Qingran. She truly hadn’t anticipated that this woman’s pheromones would actually smell exactly like a strawberry cream cake.
An Alpha’s instinctual drive to possess an Omega was gradually being awakened. Within the airtight seal of the car, the scent of the pheromones grew increasingly concentrated. In her dazed state, Ye Yixi caught sight of Shen Qingran slightly parting her crimson lips, exposing that damp, tender pink little tongue.
At this exact moment, Ye Yixi suddenly remembered the core logic of this world’s setting: The glands of Alphas and Omegas were located right on the tips of their tongues…
