Chapter 50

Xiang Nan gazed at Ye Feifei’s commanding and heroic aura, feeling a surge of affection in his heart. He stared at her, a soft smile playing on his lips.

For Xiang Nan, he would support Ye Feifei in whatever she wanted to do—especially since this idea was actually quite sound.

“Hubby, say something!” Seeing Xiang Nan just staring at her and smiling, Ye Feifei couldn’t help but shoot him a fierce glare.

Little did she know, that single look was so full of charm and spirit that it was enough to make anyone’s heart skip a beat.

“Mhm.” Xiang Nan cleared his throat and nodded. “If you want to do it, go for it. I think it’s a great idea.”

“Hmph, that’s more like it,” Ye Feifei laughed. “When the time comes, you should join my studio too. With a rising star director on board, I won’t have to worry about the studio failing, right?”

Xiang Nan raised an eyebrow. “I can join as an investor, but as an employee? I’ll pass.”

Ye Feifei immediately narrowed her eyes at him. “What? Is being my employee beneath you?”

The man leaned back, lounging lazily against the headboard without answering. He simply watched her with those “peach blossom” eyes, a half-smile on his face that made Feifei’s cheeks flush slightly.

She looked away uncomfortably, unwilling to admit she had just been struck by how handsome her husband was.

“Working for you is fine, but…” Xiang Nan caught Feifei’s hand. “You can only ever be my wife.”

It was natural for a husband and wife to support each other, but if they became boss and employee, the fun would go out of it. Xiang Nan was merely planning for the future.

“I know, I was just joking.” Ye Feifei let him hold her hand, lightly moving past the subject.

Regarding the studio, it was still just a preliminary idea. Given her current strength, she still needed to plan carefully and take it one step at a time.

“Sister Hong just got me a new script. Tell me about the role.” To open the studio, she had to work twice as hard to earn money now; she couldn’t let her husband sacrifice his career for her in vain!

Xiang Nan rolled his eyes. He had been hoping for a rare moment together where they could talk about something lighthearted. But seeing his wife’s high spirits, he gave a helpless smile and eventually took the script she handed him.

And so, the couple huddled together, seriously discussing the scenes and rehearsing lines. A warm, harmonious atmosphere filled the room.

Little Qingnuan, who had been eavesdropping at the door, wore a silent smile on her face. She stood on her tiptoes and crept back toward Qin Xuening’s room.

She had indeed been asleep earlier, but she suddenly remembered she hadn’t fed the little goldfish tonight, so she had hurried out of bed to go back to her own room. After feeding the fish, she heard Ye Feifei’s shouting coming from the master bedroom. Worried her parents were fighting, she had quietly crept to their door to listen.

Only after her father calmed her down did her mother’s voice lower, which gave Qingnuan a huge sigh of relief. Mommy and Daddy aren’t fighting. That’s great!

She also felt better knowing Mommy didn’t blame Sister Wen. As for the “entertainment industry” talk Feifei mentioned later, the little girl didn’t understand it at all.

Is that something as tasty as a donut? Qingnuan swallowed her saliva while walking back.

In the bedroom, Qin Xuening wasn’t asleep either.

Qingnuan pushed the door open and saw the big sister leaning against the headboard with the lights on, watching her. She blinked. She had clearly told the big sister to sleep first… since she had been gone so long, had the big sister been waiting for her the whole time?

“Hurry up and come over,” Xuening said, averting her eyes.

Qingnuan giggled happily, quickly shut the door, and scrambled onto the bed, lunging into Xuening’s arms.

“Sister Xuening, were you waiting for me?”

“No, I just happened to be unable to sleep.”

“Is it because I wasn’t by your side that you couldn’t sleep?”

“…” Xuening was silent for a moment, but this time she didn’t argue. “It’s late. Go to sleep.”

“Hehe, goodnight~”

Due to the popularity of the Daddy, Where Are We Going? reality show, a nationwide wave of “moe baby” fever swept the internet. Xiang Qingnuan, with her adorable, warm appearance and behavior, became the new “Goddess of Moe” in the Chinese entertainment industry.

With the official silence on the matter, the question of whether “Nuannuan’s Little Sunny Day” was truly Xiang Qingnuan’s Weibo account became a major topic of discussion among netizens. Since the “unmasking,” the topic #Nuannuan’s Little Sunny Day# had never left the trending charts; thanks to the show’s success, it even surged into the top three.

However, the tide began to turn. Likely due to competitors’ maneuvers, internet keyboard warriors and paid “water armies” began to stir. What started as a small matter became a target for bitterness and conspiracy theories as the account’s followers surpassed six digits.

Xiang Nan and Ye Feifei kept a close eye on the situation. Seeing this, they simply had the “Nuannuan’s Little Sunny Day” account verified by Weibo officials and issued a joint statement on their respective accounts.

With the parents’ public acknowledgment, the “Daddy fans” and “Mommy fans” who had been waiting on the sidelines swarmed the account like an army following an order. The number of followers, comments, and likes doubled several times over and continued to grow.

However, the negative speculation and slander didn’t subside. Now that the official clarification was out, netizens had a place to direct their questions. The joint statement was met with a new round of bombardment:

“Feifei-jie, the question everyone cares about most is: was that first Weibo reply actually written by Nuannuan herself? [Image]” (The image was a screenshot of the reply to Gao Yinyin that caused the account to be identified.)

“Was this posted by Ye Feifei’s team just for hype? This account isn’t actually being used by Nuannuan, is it?”

“Exactly. How old is Ye Feifei’s daughter? How could she post on Weibo? There must be a studio behind it pulling the strings.”

“This is just a successful marketing stunt!”

“Can you guys stop with the conspiracy theories? Netizens dug up this account themselves; they didn’t even want to admit it at first. Weren’t they forced into it by you guys?”

“Exactly! Our Feifei and little Nuannuan are so famous now, do they even need to hype themselves? A bunch of keyboard warriors just talking nonsense!”

“When Feifei first revealed she was secretly married, the anti-fans tried to throw mud on her just because she was popular. Now they won’t even let a child go. This behavior is just too ugly!”

Watching a new round of arguments brewing, Ye Feifei felt a headache coming on. She was moved by her fans’ protection, but she also hoped they would remain rational and not be used as pawns. Finally, with her manager Cheng Hong’s consent, she chose a top-voted comment to reply to.

Ye Feifei: I’m very sorry that Nuannuan and Xuening caused such a big stir online because of a moment of playfulness. From now on, this account will be managed by a designated person. As for the messages fans leave for Nuannuan, we will select some to read to the child. We ask for your understanding and thank you all for your love for Nuannuan [Heart].

After Feifei’s reply, although a small number of people with hidden agendas remained skeptical, the vast majority of netizens expressed understanding. Most people were just casual bystanders, after all.

However, below that reply, another group of fans exploded.

“So that means the people who replied before really were little Nuannuan and little Xuening?”

“Based on Feifei’s tone, it looks like it.”

“AAAAAH! I suddenly love little Nuannuan so much! And the ‘Sister Xuening’ who hasn’t shown her face yet!”

“Am I the only one jealous of the netizen who got a reply? She’s so lucky!”

“Jealousy +1”

“Jealousy +2”

“So does this mean Nuannuan’s Sister Xuening is truly the musical prodigy Qin Xuening? Curious…”

“Yinyin, did you see Xiang Nan and Ye Feifei’s Weibo? ‘Nuannuan’s Little Sunny Day’ is really little Nuannuan!”

The moment the couple went public, Li Meiman cheered and gave her roommate Gao Yinyin a bear hug, appearing even happier than if she had been the one replied to. “Everyone is jealous of you! I’m so jealous too!”

Gao Yinyin smiled, feeling very happy as well. Especially after being hounded by that senior Su Ru in the class group for so long, she finally felt she had vindicated herself. Looking at the reply Nuannuan gave her, she felt a warmth in her heart for that sweet toddler. If her liking for her before was purely due to her cuteness, she was now a die-hard fan.

But as she stared at her phone, her expression suddenly froze.

“What’s wrong?” Li Meiman asked, noticing her look.

“Meiman, I… I… think… that…” Yinyin became incoherent.

“What’s wrong? Don’t scare me!”

“I… think I was mentioned by your Feifei…” Yinyin stared blankly at the notification on her screen, unable to process it. It was her first time being “so close” to a major star.

“What? What did you say?” Meiman froze for three seconds, then snatched the phone away. After realizing what happened, she let out a wail.

“Gao Yinyin, how did I not realize you were this ‘European’ (lucky)? Can I borrow some of your luck?”

What kind of luck was this? She had followed her idol for years without a reply, let alone a dedicated post and a mention!

Ye Feifei: @Gao Yinyin Who Loves Learning and Music, thank you and all the music lovers for your concern for Xuening [Heart]. As for whether Xuening is Qin Xuening, please stay tuned to Daddy, Where Are We Going?. I believe you will find the answer.

Looking at the name being mentioned repeatedly, Meiman felt she understood. It seemed Yinyin had been noticed precisely because she expressed concern for “Xuening.”
