A Yandere Omega Abandoned Me After Getting Pregnant - Chapter 17
“Can I? Sister Wei~”
She blinked expectantly, putting on the perfect act of a lovestruck, “brain-dead” little Alpha.
[Uh, Host, although I’m happy to hear you say that, aren’t you worried about breaking character?!]
You don’t even like the background Auntie that much, and you didn’t want to woo her! Why the sudden change?!
To the System, those words were indistinguishable from flirting or outright seduction. Even as an AI, it felt a little flutter; it refused to believe Wei Xuejin could remain indifferent.
“Character be damned,” Ye Xingran thought, completely unbothered. “The effect is what matters right now.” She was running out of time and had to leave immediately, but she hated leaving a job half-finished. This wasn’t how she wanted her exit to look.
Since that was the case, she decided to apply a heavy dose of “medicine.”
Furthermore, she had no intention of losing ground to a coward like Gao Yiwen. And honestly, given Wei Xuejin’s personality, she probably couldn’t even tell the difference between sincere flirting and an act. She’d likely just give a blank “Okay” or “Whatever.”
Therefore, Ye Xingran didn’t feel embarrassed at all.
Well, maybe she wanted to crawl into a hole just a little bit.
Wei Xuejin stared back at her in silence. She watched the little Alpha’s flushed face—she looked deeply affectionate yet was trying to act composed, as if her words were a mere greeting rather than a provocative tease.
She looked at the fluffy doll on the girl’s shoulder. It was standing on its tiptoes with its chin up, wearing a pair of sunglasses. It looked incredibly provocative, though the tips of its ears were inexplicably red.
Wei Xuejin had a hunch that this expression wasn’t for her, but directed entirely at the screen. This meant the girl likely disliked Gao Yiwen and didn’t actually want a kiss.
Even though the sensation of a kiss was subtle and helped her understand “pleasure,” there was no need to do it in front of an outsider if it wasn’t what the girl truly wanted.
Wei Xuejin might lack common sense in many areas and dislike social functions, but she knew some things shouldn’t be performed for an audience. However… Gao Yiwen wasn’t exactly an “outsider.” She probably wouldn’t mind a little kiss happening in her presence.
“Sister Wei… why aren’t you saying anything? Do you think I’m too forward and hate me now? Don’t be like that~ I’m actually very well-behaved~”
Seeing Wei Xuejin’s blank expression and glazed-over eyes, Ye Xingran frowned, looking hurt and anxious. She almost wanted to grab the woman’s arm and shake it, but she thought that move was a bit too “Omega,” so she desisted. She just kept staring at her, doe-eyes glistening with unshed tears. “If that’s the case… then you’re just a duplicitous liar!”
System: …Host, if you don’t enter show business, I’m going to file a formal protest.
“A liar? What have I lied to you about?” Wei Xuejin wasn’t moved, mainly because she knew it was an act; no strange emotions were echoing in her chest.
However, watching the “big and small” pair work so hard to put on a show was entertaining. She wanted to see where it would lead.
Wei Xuejin hadn’t realized she had developed a sense of “amusement” yet; she was too focused on the dialogue.
“…I just kissed you, and you clearly liked it. But now you’re turning your back on me. I’m so heartbroken.” She pouted piteously.
The fluffy doll was even more dramatic, rolling on the floor and wailing with tiny “ying-ying-ying” cries.
“Jin, who is this little Alpha? Is she trying to scam you for money? You’re at the office, right? I’m calling the police right now to have her hauled away.” Gao Yiwen had originally thought the girl was bluffing. After all, Alphas—regardless of gender—tended to be arrogant.
But the more she watched, the more she felt something was wrong. This wasn’t just arrogance; this girl deserved to be locked up! She grabbed her phone to make the call.
“Sister Wei, I’m so scared! She wants to arrest a law-abiding, helpful citizen like me! Waaaaah~”
Ye Xingran wasn’t scared at all. She gave a few fake sobs just to suffocate Gao Yiwen with rage.
“Wen, she’s not a bad person. She’s just an applicant,” Wei Xuejin said slowly, appearing unbothered.
“An applicant? For what? Do you need to throw a tantrum and act all intimate to apply for a job? Is she applying to be your mistress?” Gao Yiwen sneered.
Wei Xuejin was a genius at business, but in interpersonal relationships and reading hearts, she was as pure as a blank sheet of paper. Anyone could trick her. If it weren’t for the people surrounding her and protecting her all these years, she would have been scammed countless times. Now, for a bratty little Alpha to seize an opening—and for Wei Xuejin not to reject her—it was maddening.
Where did this witch come from?!
“Hey, Granny, you’ve got it wrong. I’m here legitimately applying for an internship through the proper channels,” Ye Xingran said with a smirk, looking perfectly confident. “So don’t insult my Alpha-hood or make wild guesses about my behavior, or I’ll be the one calling the police on you.”
The fluffy doll stood to the side, crossing its arms and nodding in solemn agreement.
“Proper channels? People in proper channels don’t plot against their top boss! Who are you trying to fool!”
Gao Yiwen was exploding. The phrase “proper channels” felt like a mockery. She had never met someone so shameless and wanted to fly over and punch her.
To her horror, Wei Xuejin nodded in agreement, speaking with total seriousness (though she wasn’t referring to the same thing): “Yes, she did apply legitimately. The terms in her contract were quite professional.”
Gao Yiwen: “…” The point isn’t whether the terms were professional! And your legal department wrote them—of course they’re professional!
Gao Yiwen sensed something was fundamentally wrong.
“Sister Wei, I’m sorry, I really have to go.” Ye Xingran’s phone buzzed again. Her “brother” was likely losing his mind. Despite her “reluctance,” she had to leave. “Since you won’t kiss me, can you at least add me on WeChat? We can keep chatting on our phones~”
“Jin doesn’t have WeChat. Give it up.”
“I can. Write it down and I’ll add you later.”
Gao Yiwen was cut off by Wei Xuejin, sending her into another frenzy: “JIN!!!”
Ye Xingran was triumphant. She quickly scribbled down her WeChat ID and said sweetly, “Thank you, Sister Wei~”
[Host, you should strike while the iron is hot and give her a real kiss~ The Love Points haven’t budged. I think you’re missing a bit of fire.]
“NO. I’m not using such a low-tier tactic~”
Ye Xingran hadn’t brought anything into the office but her phone, but she remembered why she had come. Before leaving, she leaned her face close to Wei Xuejin’s, studying her carefully and sniffing the air. There was only a very faint scent of cedar; she seemed to be fine.
She didn’t know how the woman had recovered—maybe an injection or a pill—but she was glad she was okay.
“Aun—Sister Wei, I’m really leaving now. Don’t miss me too much.”
She gave another sweet smile, then flicked her eyes toward the screen, giving Gao Yiwen a mysterious, malicious grin that filled the rival with dread.
Ye Xingran then turned and walked out the door without a single stunt. Gao Yiwen didn’t relax, keeping her eyes glued to the doorway.
Wei Xuejin felt the atmosphere was off. Remembering her misunderstanding from yesterday, she said to Gao Yiwen: “She’s not a bad person.” In fact, she’s quite extraordinary.
“Hard to say.” Gao Yiwen didn’t trust her judgment for a second.
She didn’t want to argue in front of Wei Xuejin, though; it would only damage their friendship. She would investigate Ye Xingran privately to see where she came from and why she had targeted Wei Xuejin. For all she knew, the girl was sent by a competitor just to annoy her. After all, Wei Xuejin was never supposed to like an Alpha with that kind of style.
“Are you free tonight? Let’s get together. We haven’t been out since Xiaofei got married,” Gao Yiwen pivoted.
“Sure,” Wei Xuejin replied indifferently.
“It’s a date, then.” Gao Yiwen felt the President was back to normal. That Alpha must have just been a temporary distraction.
Just as she was settling down, the office door swung open again. A very conspicuous pink head poked back in. Who else but the returning Ye Xingran!
Gao Yiwen’s head throbbed at the sight of that pink hair. She opened her mouth to warn Wei Xuejin, but Ye Xingran was faster. Dimples showing, she said nothing—she just leaned down and, right in front of Gao Yiwen, gave Wei Xuejin a loud, forceful kiss on the cheek.
“Mwah! I knew I forgot something when I left. I forgot to take Sister Wei’s longing with me.”
“Now, I’ve got your thoughts, Sister. Bye-bye!” She shot a triumphant look at the fuming, “smoking” Gao Yiwen on the screen and skipped out of the room.
“JIN! GET THE RUBBING ALCOHOL AND DISINFECT YOUR FACE IMMEDIATELY!!!” Gao Yiwen was going to die of pure rage.
