After Becoming a Scumbag Alpha, the Green Tea Omega is Reborn - Chapter 24
The consequence of eating too fast and drinking too heavily was that Yu Li had to keep running to the restroom. By the time she finally walked out clutching her stomach with a miserable expression, she thought to herself that she would never push herself like that again—if she could drink, she would, but if she couldn’t, she’d just forget it.
Just as she opened the stall door, she saw an Omega in a short blue dress leaning against the sink, holding her phone as if listening to a call. Yu Li didn’t pay her much mind and tried to walk around her, but she suddenly heard a sob.
Yu Li shot her a suspicious glance. Fang Min wiped her tears and looked at her with a pitiful expression.
“I’m sorry. I’ve lost my composure.”
Yu Li was about to say it was no big deal, but the girl continued: “Can I… borrow your shoulder to lean on for a moment?”
The atmosphere suddenly shifted.
Yu Li said without a second thought, “It’s not convenient.”
Setting aside the fact that a lone Alpha and Omega leaning together would easily spark a scandal if seen, the gown she was wearing was a high-end custom piece worth tens of thousands. If this person leaned on her and wiped tears and snot all over it, the dress would be ruined.
Frustrated by such a blunt rejection, Fang Min grit her teeth but maintained a pained, restrained look. “I’m sorry. I’ve disturbed you.”
Yu Li felt a bit of pity and blurted out, “How about…”
Fang Min grew excited instantly, but then Yu Li said to her earnestly, “How about you go back inside, close the door, and finish crying?”
“Your makeup is all smudged; it wouldn’t be good if someone photographed you.”
Well, thank you so much for the reminder.
As Fang Min stood there in shock, Yu Li turned and hurried out of the restroom.
Returning to the banquet hall, Yu Li had just sat down when Cheng Yang approached with a flattering smile, holding a glass of wine.
Again? She really didn’t want to run to the toilet anymore. As Yu Li pondered how to refuse, Tao Ran, sitting beside her, shifted her body. “Accidentally,” a large portion of the red wine in Tao Ran’s hand splashed onto Cheng Yang’s skirt.
“Ah!” Cheng Yang let out a cry. Tao Ran jumped up and grabbed several tissues, handing them over.
“Oh, I’m so sorry!” Tao Ran cried out, anxiously trying to wipe the wine stains on the girl. As expected, the more she wiped, the further the red wine soaked into the fabric.
“You…” Cheng Yang was originally furious, but seeing Tao Ran—and remembering the embarrassment of failing to show off earlier that afternoon—her anger was mostly extinguished.
“I’m sorry, sister. I didn’t mean it. You won’t blame me, will you?” Tao Ran let out a dejected sigh, her thick, wing-like lashes lowered, looking heartbreakingly pitiable.
“It’s only right if you blame me. How about I go to the restroom with you to handle this, and then I’ll buy you an identical skirt to make it up to you?”
Cheng Yang wouldn’t dare let her pay, but Tao Ran affectionately took her arm and led her toward the restroom. Along the way, she leaned in and whispered in her ear: “By the way, sister, you haven’t eaten much today, have you?”
“Huh?” Cheng Yang was flustered and confused. She replied casually, “I did eat very little…”
“No wonder you keep staring at the food in other people’s bowls,” Tao Ran said with a beaming smile.
As they left the bustling banquet hall behind, Cheng Yang suddenly felt a cold sweat on her back.
“You… what do you mean by that?”
“Literally. If someone tries to touch my person despite their lack of ability, then I might have to take something from them as well,” Tao Ran pouted as if thinking, then said cheerfully, “Like a commercial endorsement or a role in a new drama?”
“I remember you worked very hard to get the lead role in your new show. If…”
Cheng Yang turned deathly pale, struggling to keep her voice from trembling. “I’m… I’m sorry. I’m sorry, Sister Ran. I’ll never dare do it again.”
Tao Ran released her instantly and waved her hand. “You dirtied my shoes, I dirtied your clothes. Let’s call it even.”
“Don’t let it happen again.” With that, Tao Ran blew her a kiss and hummed a little tune as she walked back.
Timid little cowards. They still dare to eye Yu Li? See if I don’t crush them.
As she returned to the hall, Liu Xia gave her a look from a distance. Understanding the cue, Tao Ran followed her.
They found a deserted side room to talk. The room was originally meant for small gatherings, but as more people booked the main hall, it had become a storage area where only janitors went.
Liu Xia said with displeasure, “I just told several of my actors and friends to toast Yu Li, hoping to get her drunk to see if she’d spill some truth or make a fool of herself. And you, you traitorous girl, actually blocked the drinks for her. I make a move, you dismantle it—what kind of loyalty is this?”
Tao Ran laughed and took Liu Xia’s arm. “Xiaxia, I appreciate the thought. But if you get her drunk, how are Lin Lin and I—with our thin arms and legs—supposed to carry an Alpha back home?”
Liu Xia let out a soft “Tch.” “Tell the truth, have you actually fallen for her?”
Tao Ran gave a light laugh and decided to be honest with Liu Xia.
Liu Xia was stunned for a long time. She scratched her head and said, “Man, you… I haven’t forgotten that she hit you on your wedding night.”
Tao Ran’s wandering gaze fixed on a spot outside the window. “Maybe… she’s changed?”
“She forcibly marked you against your will. Can you really expect a beast like that to change?”
Angrily, Liu Xia unlocked her phone and tapped on a photo.
“Look for yourself.”
Tao Ran’s dark pupils shuddered.
In the photo, Yu Li was sitting on a sofa in a bar, holding Shi Yi. Shi Yi had her arms around Yu Li’s neck, affectionately feeding her wine.
“Don’t forget, Yu Li is no good.”
Tao Ran’s brows knit slightly. She asked calmly, “When was this photo taken?”
“I don’t know the exact time. I asked countless friends for help and bought it for a high price from a bartender. The original photo was deleted; this is the only copy on my phone.”
Liu Xia zoomed in on the photo and pointed to the wedding ring on Yu Li’s ring finger. “I can’t say for sure about anything else, but at this time, Yu Li was already engaged to you.”
Tao Ran’s expression remained flat, revealing neither joy nor sorrow.
“Ranran, you can’t be fooled by her sweet talk. The choice to keep this photo is yours. With this, you have leverage over Yu Li.”
“I…”
Before she could finish, there was a gentle knock on the side room door.
“Is… is anyone there?” Yu Li’s soft voice drifted in.
Liu Xia’s expression changed immediately. She muttered, “Talk about a lingering ghost!”
Yu Li pushed the door open and was momentarily stunned to see both Tao Ran and Liu Xia there.
“You two… are also here to hide from the drinks?”
Liu Xia gave Yu Li a sharp glare and whispered to Tao Ran, “Think it through for yourself.”
Without saying a word to Yu Li, Liu Xia brushed past her and left.
Tao Ran stood by the window. The night breeze fluttered the floor-to-ceiling curtains; her dark hair, swaying in the wind, intermingled with the night, creating a portrait of a beauty.
Their eyes met. Yu Li stepped forward but stood a bit further away from Tao Ran, fearing the smell of alcohol on her would bother the girl.
Beside Tao Ran was a bright, half-moon, and in her eyes lay a gentle starlight as she stared directly at Yu Li.
“Thank you for the endorsement.”
“Don’t mention it. It’s only right.”
“I really didn’t expect you to give me so many opportunities to shine,” Tao Ran looked into the distance and let out a long sigh. “I always used to think you didn’t like me.”
Yu Li choked. she didn’t know how to respond to that. The alcohol was going to her head; even the cool breeze couldn’t soothe the restlessness in her heart.
Tao Ran continued: “I know you pursued me because I fit your criteria for a partner. Even marrying me was just out of a momentary interest…”
“I did many things wrong in the past.” Yu Li looked down uneasily. “If I hurt you, I am very sorry.”
“When exactly did you start realizing you were wrong?”
Tao Ran’s eyes were like two mirrors; Yu Li saw her own embarrassed reflection within them.
Yu Li blinked and said, “It was after the wedding. After getting married, I realized I have a family and relatives, and I knew I had to take responsibility.”
“You realized that on the very first day of the marriage?”
Yu Li nodded.
Tao Ran’s eyes lit up. So, the person was replaced starting from the first day of the marriage.
Truth be told, this person was much easier to deal with than the original Yu Li—she jumped into every pit Tao Ran dug for her.
“So you didn’t like me back then. What about now?”
“What are your feelings for me now?”
Yu Li took a deep breath. Under Tao Ran’s burning gaze, she became involuntarily nervous.
Even now, she couldn’t say for sure what her feelings for Tao Ran were. There was a bit of liking, a bit of guilt, and more compassion and admiration.
But as Tao Ran looked at her with those eyes, her heart raced, and she was speechless.
While they were at a standstill, the door to the side room suddenly clicked open. In that instant, a gust of wind blew the floor-to-ceiling curtains apart, perfectly hiding Tao Ran and Yu Li’s figures.
The person at the door also seemed to have drunk too much. Seeing no one after a quick look, the person turned and closed the door. They intended to lock it, but the lock was old and broken. The person didn’t care and walked in with heavy footsteps.
Yu Li hadn’t intended to hide, but when she saw the newcomer through the gap between the curtains, her heart jumped.
It was an Omega extra, supporting a drunken Producer Gao as they walked in. Both were dead drunk, their faces flushed red.
Yu Li was about to cough to signal their presence, but that Omega actually laid Producer Gao down on the middle table and immediately began to strip him!
Good heavens, you’re too fast! Aren’t you going to check if there’s someone behind the curtains? Yu Li thought in shock.
Now, Yu Li and Tao Ran were too scared to even breathe. They stood far apart, staring at each other with wide eyes.
Seeing the fluttering curtains about to settle, Yu Li quickly moved to Tao Ran’s side. There was a brown sofa in front of Tao Ran’s curtain; if anything happened, they could crouch down and use the sofa as cover.
What do we do? What do we do? While that small actress was still leaving the Producer a pair of underwear, should she make a sound to tell her that there were two living souls standing right here?
