After Becoming a Scumbag Alpha, the Green Tea Omega is Reborn - Chapter 31
Yu Li clutched her chest tightly, her breathing growing increasingly heavy. The plane had already taken off; without medication to control it, the pheromones released during her rut would only become more potent. Sooner or later, she would lose control.
With this thought, Yu Li abruptly stood up. Yan Xinyue, noticing her expression was off, asked softly, “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing, I just need to go to the restroom.”
“Oh, I happen to be going that way too. Let’s go together.”
Yu Li shook her head and sat back down momentarily. “I’m sorry, I’m feeling a bit unwell. You go ahead.”
“What’s the matter? I’m not in a hurry, I can wait for you.”
Yu Li said nothing more and hurried toward the restroom. As Yan Xinyue prepared to follow, Tao Ran stood up and blocked her path. “Teacher Yan, please leave the care of my Alpha to me.”
The restroom door slammed shut with a loud bang.
Yu Li panted heavily, turning the faucet to its maximum. She cupped the water and splashed it onto her face, yet the burning heat in her chest refused to dissipate.
Since coming to this ABO world, she had seen other Alphas go through their ruts, but theirs were usually easy to suppress. They didn’t need cold water, they didn’t need isolation, and they certainly didn’t feel such a… primitive urge to mark an Omega.
Why was she so abnormal? Was it her unique constitution, or was it that cut from the anti-fan earlier?
Yu Li’s gland felt both itchy and painful, as if it were about to explode. She kept pouring cold water over her neck until her hair and clothes were soaked, her damp locks clinging to her body.
Looking in the mirror, Yu Li was startled by her own reflection. She had never seen herself look so bewitching. Strands of wet hair clung to her cheeks, and her lips were pale, yet her face was flushed with a vivid, deep crimson—as if she had been drugged with an aphrodisiac.
Waves of heat surged through her chest. Her entire body ached with a discomfort she couldn’t quite name, a powerful longing spreading from her gland to every limb.
She wanted to do something… but what could she do?
Just as her mind began to cloud with confusion, a rich scent of white musk drifted clearly through the restroom door.
“Don’t… don’t come in!”
The moment Yu Li shouted, Tao Ran turned the handle, pushed the door open, and quickly locked it behind her.
“Yu Li, what is happening to you?” Tao Ran stared at her for a moment, stunned. “You… your rut has arrived.”
The sunlight outside was dim, making the small restroom feel even more dark and cramped. Yu Li was curled in the corner, the upper half of her clothes soaked. Her eyes were filled with tears, looking like a wounded fawn, but for a split second upon seeing Tao Ran, they flashed with a beast-like scarlet. Then, Yu Li buried her head in her arms, gasping for air.
“Go away… don’t come near me.”
“How can your rut be this severe?” Tao Ran hurried over. Her eyes narrowed as she saw the shallow wound on Yu Li’s neck gland.
Tao Ran’s scent continued to seep in, acting as if it were running rampant over every inch of Yu Li’s skin. Yu Li looked up and gave Tao Ran a deep look. For the first time, Tao Ran saw a nearly crazed, predatory desire in Yu Li’s eyes.
In the next second, Yu Li lunged forward, pinning Tao Ran against the edge of the sink. The faucet was still running, the water splashing loudly. Tao Ran stared at Yu Li for a few seconds before calmly reaching back to turn off the water and cupping Yu Li’s face.
Tao Ran leaned in and kissed her, carefully and earnestly. Her soft lips traced Yu Li’s, and her half-closed eyes held a seductive charm that could melt one’s bones.
Without hesitation, Yu Li pressed against the back of Tao Ran’s head to deepen the kiss. They kissed for a long time before pulling apart. The moment their lips separated, Yu Li’s hand instinctively moved toward the zipper of Tao Ran’s clothes.
Tao Ran said nothing; she kissed Yu Li’s cheek and signaled with her eyes for her to continue.
She had given her consent, but deep down, Yu Li didn’t want to do this.
She had always considered herself to have great self-control, but today she realized that her prideful restraint was fragile in the face of pheromones and instinct.
Or perhaps, she simply had no resistance when it came to her Omega.
Gripping the edges of the sink on either side of Tao Ran’s waist, Yu Li saw her own bloodshot eyes in the mirror.
“Ranran… I don’t want to, I don’t want to…”
“It’s okay, it’s okay,” Tao Ran hugged her, patting her back gently as if soothing a child. “This isn’t your fault. I won’t blame you. We’re already married; this is how it’s supposed to be, isn’t it?”
“But I can’t treat you like this. I can’t treat you like he used to…” Yu Li sobbed, her voice choking with emotion.
“Silly, I’ve known for a long time that you aren’t the person you used to be.” Tao Ran leaned her face tenderly against Yu Li’s collarbone. “Besides, you already… on our wedding night…”
“I never marked you.”
Tao Ran’s eyes widened instantly in disbelief.
“What did you say?”
Yu Li was at her absolute limit. With tears in her eyes, she let go of Tao Ran and curled up on the floor.
“I felt… that you would leave sooner or later. Once you achieve your dreams, you’ll leave me. I couldn’t let myself hold you back.”
Tao Ran looked at her, trembling. Yu Li’s words were slurred, but to Tao Ran, everything had never been clearer.
It turned out Yu Li had sensed it all along—that Tao Ran had initially only wanted to use her for resources and fame.
Tao Ran gave a pained smile, her eyes full of heartache.
“If you were truly a fool, how would you have known my intentions? If you were just pretending, how could you not feel that I’ve fallen in love with you?”
“Are you really that stupid? Willing to be used by me?”
Yu Li froze.
Tao Ran walked over and hugged her, her voice trembling. “Yu Li, I understand what you mean, but now I’ve already…”
Before she could finish, there was a “knock knock knock” on the restroom door. Yan Xinyue’s gentle voice drifted in.
“Yu Li, Tao Ran? Are you two okay?”
Tao Ran frowned. “Sorry, not really.”
“Is Yu Li having a rut? I have some suppressants here. I’m not sure if they’re a perfect match for her body, but I expect they’ll provide some relief.”
Tao Ran and Yu Li exchanged a look and quickly opened the door to let Yan Xinyue in with the medicine. It was an oral liquid formula. Yu Li had never heard Dr. Liang mention this brand, but she couldn’t afford to be picky. She drank it all in one gulp.
After taking the medicine, Yu Li felt a wave of weakness, as if the chaotic strength inside her had been instantly drained. She tried to take a few steps but swayed, quickly grabbing the sink for support.
“Don’t worry, this is a normal reaction. This medicine has a strong kick, but the results are excellent. You’ll feel better after I help you back to lie down for a bit.”
Yan Xinyue and Tao Ran helped her back to her seat. Seeing Yu Li was soaked, Lin Lin hurriedly found a coat to drape over her.
Lin Lin checked Yu Li’s forehead; there was no fever, but she was as pale as a ghost.
“What happened?” Lin Lin asked anxiously.
“It’s her rut. Her reaction is much stronger than a typical Alpha’s,” Tao Ran explained, smoothing the stray hairs on Yu Li’s forehead.
Tao Ran said to Lin Lin, “Go ask the flight attendant for a towel.”
After the ordeal, Yu Li seemed exhausted and fell asleep as soon as she hit the chair. Tao Ran took the towel from Lin Lin and gently dried Yu Li’s hair. Throughout this, Yan Xinyue’s deep gaze never left Tao Ran.
“Sister Tao Ran…” Lin Lin called softly.
Tao Ran nodded but remained focused on Yu Li. Only when some color finally returned to Yu Li’s face did she breathe a sigh of relief.
She turned to Yan Xinyue. “Thank you for helping us just now.”
Yan Xinyue laughed brightly. “Don’t mention it. We’re all friends; it’s only right.”
“What brand was that medicine you gave her? It seems very effective.”
Yan Xinyue paused. “I actually forgot. A friend gave it to me. I’ll call her after we land and send the info to you.”
Before disembarking, Tao Ran gave Lin Lin a look, and the two had a brief conversation in the restroom.
“About what Liu Xia and I said regarding monitoring Yu Li…”
“I know, I guessed it,” Lin Lin pursed her lips. “I’ve never been in a relationship, and I don’t understand much about true or fake feelings, but I know Yu Li is good to you, and you are to her. That’s enough.”
“Is it?” Tao Ran’s eyes dimmed slightly. “If I were truly good to her, how could I let her get hurt?”
“Sister Tao Ran, don’t blame yourself. No one could have predicted this. But I feel like everything today has been strange. Sister Yu Li had medicine in her pocket, but it went missing. Then the medicine in my bag went missing too.”
Tao Ran nodded thoughtfully. “Really? That is quite the coincidence.”
Thinking back to that anti-fan, a thought flashed through Tao Ran’s mind. Was it possible that the person wasn’t actually aiming for Yu Li’s gland, but specifically wanted her to enter her rut without any suppressants available?
Yu Li finally woke up as the plane was preparing to land. She held her head and recalled what happened, vaguely remembering kissing Tao Ran in the restroom before Yan Xinyue gave her the medicine.
Yu Li solemnly thanked Yan Xinyue, who remained as pleasant and kind as ever.
To be safe, Lin Lin immediately booked an appointment at a hospital in City B as soon as they landed. They waved goodbye to Yan Xinyue at the airport.
Watching them drive away in a taxi, Yan Xinyue let out a chuckled snort. Her phone rang, and she answered it.
“It was a miscalculation. Yu Li didn’t take the bait. It’s a pity about that micro-camera I left in the restroom… Don’t worry, there’s still a month left. I’ll take care of Tao Ran and Yu Li together… Their relationship is surprisingly good, though. I heard in the restroom that Yu Li still hasn’t marked Tao Ran yet.”
Yu Li went for a check-up and bought several boxes of suppressants to keep on hand. The production team sent word that the manor for filming wasn’t ready yet, so they would be staying at a nearby five-star hotel.
Since they were already there, they couldn’t waste time. It happened that Yin Shu had also just arrived at the hotel on a noon flight. The team arranged for a photographer to film the four of them at the hotel for promotional teasers.
Upon arriving at the hotel, Yu Li and Tao Ran were met by the photographer sent by the crew. Yu Li was stunned for a moment—it was a male Omega, significantly shorter than Tao Ran, with thin limbs.
He stepped forward, respectfully showed his ID, and said, “Teachers Yu Li and Tao Ran, right? I am Xiao Liang, the set photographer. I’ll be filming your activities throughout the afternoon.”
Thus, Yu Li, Tao Ran, Yin Shu, and Yan Xinyue gathered in the hotel’s presidential suite for the shoot.
Despite Xiao Liang’s frail appearance, he was a total pro when it came to filming. He set up the cameras nimbly and, noticing the lighting in the suite wasn’t ideal, placed spotlights around to compensate.
After greetings were exchanged, everyone received a notification from the crew regarding the activity.
Xiao Liang adjusted the lens and said to the four people sitting on the cashmere rug, “Are you ready, everyone? 3, 2, 1, action!”
“The activity is… Truth or Dare?” Yin Shu narrowed her fox-like eyes and curled her lip. “This game is a bit cliché.”
“Cliché, but fun,” Yu Li whispered, reading the rules sent to her phone. “Each person has one chance to choose another person for Truth or Dare. However, those who break the rules lose their turn to choose.”
“How do you even break a rule in Truth or Dare?”
“Maybe not telling the truth counts as a violation,” Yan Xinyue said, resting her chin on her hand. She looked at Yu Li and asked with concern, “By the way, Yu Li, how was the hospital visit today?”
Yu Li was startled. she hadn’t expected Yan Xinyue to bring this up during filming. She gave a stiff laugh. “Nothing is wrong. The hospital just gave me some medicine.”
“That’s good.”
“Since we’re playing, where do we start?” Tao Ran asked.
Yin Shu and Yan Xinyue sat together, while Yu Li and Tao Ran sat together. The four pairs of eyes scanned each other; for a moment, no one spoke. Filming this show meant they would be together for at least a month, and for this first meeting, everyone wanted to show their modesty.
Finally, Xiao Liang made the decision for them. “How about we start clockwise with Teacher Yin Shu?”
“No problem.” Yin Shu stretched. She was wearing a trendy cropped top today, which clearly showcased her slender waist for the camera.
Most variety shows claim to be natural and show the “realest” side of celebrities, but in truth, no public figure is truly willing to show their absolute real self.
“I choose Truth,” Yin Shu said, her flirtatious gaze darting between Yu Li and Tao Ran. “When was the last time you two marked each other?”
Starting off this intense? Yu Li was stunned and turned to Xiao Liang. “Is this allowed to be broadcast?”
The other three couldn’t help but laugh.
“No cheating! When I watch your livestreams, these are exactly the kind of questions fans ask.”
“Wait, Yin Shu broke the rules,” Tao Ran said, pointing to the rules on her phone. “You can only choose one person for a Truth, but you just asked both me and Yu Li. Therefore, you lose your turn, and we don’t have to answer.”
Yin Shu’s jaw dropped in shock. “That… that works too?”
Tao Ran giggled. “Next is me. I want to ask Xinyue—how far has your relationship progressed?”
Tao Ran wasn’t stupid. Although Yin Shu’s question was a bit invasive, fans who had seen the livestreams would feel a sense of familiarity seeing this segment. Yin Shu was trying to help them, so she naturally wanted to help Yin Shu stir up some buzz too.
Yin Shu glanced at Yan Xinyue. With a flicker in her eyes, Yan Xinyue pursed her lips and said, “How far our relationship goes is entirely up to her.”
After saying this, Yan Xinyue gave Yin Shu a deep look. Yin Shu gave her a playful, shy swat, dropping her usual “vixen” persona and appearing more like a cute, affectionate young woman.
Yu Li pondered for a moment. “Then I also want to ask Xinyue—when was your first kiss?”
Yan Xinyue lowered her head in thought for a moment, then, under the intense gaze of the other three, she tilted her head and kissed the corner of Yin Shu’s lips.
“It’s right now,” Yan Xinyue said, winking at the camera.
“Wow!” Tao Ran playfully pinched Yu Li’s waist. “Look at them!”
She’s so good at this, Yu Li thought. This Yan Xinyue was friendly, approachable, and an incredible flirt. If she could learn even a fraction of those techniques, Tao Ran wouldn’t dare to tease her every day.
In this moment, those two didn’t look like a couple forced together by their agencies; they looked like a real couple in the heat of passion.
Yin Shu glanced shyly at Yan Xinyue and looked away. Yan Xinyue held Yin Shu’s hand, playing with it, though her mind seemed to be elsewhere.
“I’m the last one. We’ve only played Truth so far, which is boring. Let’s try something else. How about a Dare?” Yan Xinyue suggested.
“Sure,” the other three agreed in unison.
“Then let’s do something exciting,” Yan Xinyue said, raising an eyebrow at Yu Li. “Yu Li, go find a random Omega in the hotel to flirt with.”
The other three were stunned.
“Huh? Flirting?”
This was actually a fairly standard Dare for a variety show; it added a viral hook and increased the entertainment value. The problem was… Yu Li was married.
Yin Shu instinctively looked at Tao Ran, who remained expressionless.
“You have ten minutes to complete it,” Yan Xinyue gave Tao Ran a friendly smile. “It’s just a game, Ranran doesn’t mind, right?”
“Of course I don’t mind,” Tao Ran gave Yu Li a reassuring look. “Go ahead.”
To complete the task, she had to leave the suite. Since there was only one photographer, Xiao Liang had to shoulder his camera and follow Yu Li. The remaining three relaxed, scrolling through their phones while they waited.
“I suspect you sent Xiao Liang away on purpose. Are you tired?” Yin Shu said to Yan Xinyue.
“You guessed right. It’s hard on Yu Li to make the trip, too. By the way, that face mask you gave me before was great. Did you bring it this time?”
“I did. I’ll have my assistant bring it over,” Yin Shu said, messaging her assistant. A few seconds later, she stood up impatiently. “She doesn’t know where I put it. I’ll go find it myself.”
In an instant, only Tao Ran and Yan Xinyue were left in the spacious presidential suite.
Tao Ran looked at Yan Xinyue with a complex expression. “You sent them away because you have something to say to me alone?”
“You’re overthinking. I know you and Yu Li have a good relationship, and I have no intentions in that regard. I just can’t help but wonder… if you hadn’t jumped ship to Yu Lang and had stayed with our Yu Pin company, what would things look like now?”
Yu Pin was the entertainment agency Tao Ran had signed with before graduating university. Yan Xinyue and Yin Shu were both artists under that agency. Back then, after marrying Yu Li, Tao Ran had terminated her contract with Yu Pin to join Yu Lang. In her past life, she would have considered this a lifelong regret, but in this life, because of the new Yu Li, she felt very differently.
“Yu Li is good to you, and I always see your PDA on the Hot Search, but does your company actually value you?” Yan Xinyue watched Tao Ran’s face carefully. Just as Tao Ran was about to speak, a long sigh escaped Yan Xinyue’s lips.
“Sigh, I’m not blaming you. I just feel sorry for you.”
“Thank you for your concern, but I take things as they come. People with talent don’t have to fear being buried. You were the one who taught me that in university, remember?”
Yan Xinyue looked at her. Her expression softened for a moment, then she smiled gently. “I remember.”
After a few more minutes of small talk, Yan Xinyue went to the balcony to smoke. Tao Ran found an excuse to return to her own suite, quickly opened her suitcase, and changed into some old clothes.
Making her wife go flirt with another Omega? And telling her “not to mind”? Of course she minded!
Tao Ran smiled at herself in the mirror, put on a mask and a baseball cap, and walked out the door.
Meanwhile, Yu Li and Xiao Liang were wandering the empty hotel corridors, but not an Omega was in sight. After a lap, they reached the corner of the fire escape. Xiao Liang suddenly spoke up. “Teacher Yu Li, look over there.”
Yu Li looked closely. There was an Omega standing by the fire exit, playing with her phone.
Yu Li hurried over, took several deep breaths, and finally found the courage to speak. “Hello.”
When the woman looked up, Yu Li fell into a pair of soul-stirring peach-blossom eyes.
“Ran…” Yu Li’s eyes widened in shock. She looked again, confirming her eyes weren’t deceiving her. She nearly choked on her own breath.
Isn’t this my wife?
My wife is disguised as a stranger for me to flirt with?
