Chapter 12
Dengying Secret Realm was vast, and the cultivators scattered throughout it were like scattered stars, not easy to find.
But that did not mean there was no method. The cultivators who came here were all chasing opportunities. Generally speaking, wherever good things appeared, cultivators would gather in groups. At times like this, the treasure-seeking mouse once again proved useful.
The Demon Sect cultivators were also relying on similar methods to find Orthodox cultivators.
What they had not expected was that while the mantis stalked the cicada, the oriole waited behind. They themselves had also become prey in the eyes of Wei Hanzhen and her group.
After several days of slaughter, Wei Hanzhen and the others were all stained with blood, and each had suffered some injuries. But all of it was worth it. The Demon Sect cultivators were not having an easy time either.
Pan Shaoming had also realized by now that the Orthodox disciples had begun fighting back. Fewer and fewer Demon Sect disciples could be contacted. Messages sent out received no response, and the greatest possibility was that they had died at the hands of Orthodox cultivators.
In a dense forest, he told the disciples traveling with him to wait. Then he released a stream of black smoke.
A moment later, the smoke twisted and transformed into a heroic-looking armored cultivator.
Pan Shaoming cupped his hands toward him and said solemnly, “There are Orthodox disciples killing our Demon Sect disciples as well. At present, nearly a hundred of our cultivators have been lost.”
Pan Shaoqing’s eyes flashed. He said in a low voice, “What are the results?”
Pan Shaoming grinned. “Since entering Dengying Secret Realm, we have killed more than three hundred Orthodox disciples. Only—”
His tone paused, and a murderous aura covered his firm brows and eyes.
He continued, “Not many of them were disciples of the major sects. We failed to get anyone from Yuxiao Sect. As for Changguan Sect’s disciples… we did kill two who were alone.”
Pan Shaoqing nodded. “The number of our disciples who entered the secret realm is fewer than the Orthodox cultivators. This matter can be paused. The Penglai Qi has already appeared, and I have already obtained information on its whereabouts. Bring your people and gather here.”
Pan Shaoming nodded. “Yes.”
Only after the black smoke dispersed did he lick his lips, still somewhat unsatisfied.
A dense aura of slaughter flickered in his brows and eyes.
More than three hundred cultivators was a considerable achievement.
Unfortunately…
It had very little impact on the great Orthodox sects. Those declining small sects and rogue cultivators were simply not worth mentioning.
“Senior Brother Pan, there are Orthodox disciples nearby. Should we go over?” a Demon Sect cultivator asked.
Pan Shaoming had originally planned to immediately seek out his elder brother, but hearing this, he hesitated.
There were five Golden Core cultivators on their side. Those Orthodox disciples were nearby. A fight would not take long.
When the time came, he could carry their heads back as a congratulatory gift for his elder brother!
Once his mind was made up, he immediately said, “Go!”
Pan Shaoming was a strength-path cultivator. Once he fought, he could shake mountains and overturn peaks.
At a glance, he recognized the approaching flying ship as the one he had been forced to let go earlier. Killing intent flashed through Pan Shaoming’s eyes. Smiling darkly, he released black smoke, stirring up the wind and clouds, covering this stretch of heaven and earth.
“It’s Pan Shaoming, one of the Ten Demon Prodigies.” A cold light flashed through Wei Hanzhen’s eyes.
There were five Demon Sect cultivators.
And on their side, there were also five.
“I’ll deal with this person.”
After leaving those words behind, Wei Hanzhen was the first to transform into a streak of sword light and rush out of the flying ship.
“Fellow Daoist, we meet again. Have you considered my offer?” Pan Shaoming looked at Wei Hanzhen, the corner of his lips lifting into an arrogant smile.
Wei Hanzhen sneered. With a shake of her sword light, a long river of sword radiance spread forward.
Her sword intent was proud and soaring, carrying the force to pierce straight into the clouds.
Pan Shaoming’s brows tightened, and some of his contempt faded.
“Taiyi Spirit-Seizing. So you really are a disciple of Changguan Sect!”
Pan Shaoming reached forward and seized a savage-looking long saber, grinning viciously.
“I’ve killed quite a few Changguan Sect disciples under my saber already. Adding one more won’t hurt!”
Pan Shaoming relied on his strength-path body, firm as steel, and did not fear Wei Hanzhen’s sword-light attacks.
One ear-grating impact after another rang out, sparks scattering before him.
“Is this all a Changguan Sect disciple is capable of?”
He laughed loudly. His long saber swept sideways, carrying the force to shatter mountains and split the earth.
Wei Hanzhen knew her strength could not compare with that of a strength-path cultivator, so she did not meet him head-on. Several afterimages flashed past, and once the dust dispersed, Wei Hanzhen was no longer there.
Wei Hanzhen formed a hand seal.
She knew her Nascent Soul was sealed. Her sword intent was far less biting than it had been in the past. It would be nearly impossible to behead Pan Shaoming with one strike.
However, after several exchanges and tests, she had roughly figured out where Pan Shaoming’s limit lay.
She gave a soft laugh.
The sword light suddenly sharpened, tearing through the sky.
Golden sword radiance pierced the sun, swift as wind and lightning, instantly leaving bloody marks across Pan Shaoming’s body.
Pan Shaoming’s expression changed.
His long saber protected his body, and as he circulated his technique, his body immediately recovered. This was a divine ability of strength-path cultivators.
His expression turned savage. He struck forward with one palm, causing the mountain to collapse and the earth to split.
Wei Hanzhen’s gaze turned cold. A tide of water suddenly rose beneath her feet. With one fierce sweep, it swallowed up the shattered stones.
“Northern Abyss Profound Water. You’re actually cultivating two techniques at once!” Pan Shaoming’s face showed a moment of astonishment.
Generally, those capable of such a thing had to possess extraordinary talent and be true disciples.
They had seen the true disciples of Changguan Sect within the Demon Sect’s records, but not a single one looked like this.
Wei Hanzhen seized the opportunity and once again split her sword light. The water tide beneath her feet did not dissipate, and the faint rumble of thunder could be heard within it.
Pan Shaoming moved quickly as well. His long saber protected him as he formed a hand seal. Immediately, a peak made of yellow earth rose from the ground, lifting his entire body upward.
The sword light divided. Although Pan Shaoming blocked with his saber, many parts still landed on his body.
The bloody marks vanished in the blink of an eye.
Pan Shaoming laughed loudly. “If you’re relying only on sword light like this, you won’t be able to kill me.”
“Is that so?” The corner of Wei Hanzhen’s lips curved, and a smile bloomed across her face.
She pointed, and the flying shuttle hidden within the sword radiance arrived before Pan Shaoming in the blink of an eye.
This was the Profound Artifact, the Golden Sword Profound Shuttle.
Because she cultivated the Taiyi Spirit-Seizing Sword Scripture, this flying shuttle had soundlessly blended into the golden sword radiance and was not easy to detect.
Although Pan Shaoming was a strength-path cultivator, he was still only at Golden Core. He had not reached the realm of being one with heaven and earth. Naturally, a Profound Artifact could injure him.
By the time Pan Shaoming realized something was wrong, it was already too late.
He barely managed to raise a layer of protective treasure light, but it was like paper. In an instant, it was smashed apart by the Golden Sword Profound Shuttle.
Pan Shaoming was horrified. He threw out magical artifact after magical artifact, but all he could do was delay for time.
In the blink of an eye, the Profound Artifact slammed into his body.
With a crack, the life-saving jade token hanging from his neck shattered.
That had been his final reliance.
Having escaped death, Pan Shaoming was still shaken and had not even had time to wipe the sweat from his forehead when the sword light and water tide came at him again.
Wei Hanzhen felt somewhat regretful that she had failed to kill Pan Shaoming in one stroke, but breaking one of the magical artifacts on him was good enough.
She had nothing else, but she did have many magical artifacts.
Now that the Golden Sword Profound Shuttle had been exposed, she was no longer polite. She directly activated the Profound Artifact and sent it killing toward Pan Shaoming.
As long as one person on either side freed their hands, the situation would change dramatically.
Wuchen was the first to free herself.
Specks of blood stained her snow-white clothes like red plum blossoms.
Beneath the fox mask, her eyes were deep and shadowed. The red umbrella spun in midair and transformed into a longbow. The dragon soul roared, and baleful qi surged out in full.
Wuchen tapped the tip of her foot, seized the longbow, and condensed three arrows from spiritual power. They shot suddenly toward Pan Shaoming.
However, in order to end the fight quickly, Wuchen had used self-damaging techniques while fighting the Demon Sect disciple.
Once these three arrows were released, the spiritual power within her Golden Core was almost squeezed empty. She no longer had the strength to continue fighting.
Ahead of Pan Shaoming were the rolling water tide and Profound Shuttle. Once they touched him, they would strip away flesh and blood.
Behind him, three arrows suddenly attacked, bringing him an extremely terrifying sensation, as though his entire self would be swallowed by that blood-red light.
Pan Shaoming gritted his teeth. A ruthless look flashed through his eyes.
He formed a hand seal, and his body suddenly grew taller, reaching several zhang high like a giant.
Next, he did not resist the Profound Shuttle or the sword light.
Instead, he directly detonated his Golden Core.
Even if he died, he would drag someone down with him.
Wei Hanzhen and Wuchen were closest to him and were the first to face the impact of that power.
Wei Hanzhen’s gaze dropped, and her pupils suddenly contracted.
She swept toward Wuchen’s position.
Wuchen’s expression changed slightly. At the critical moment, she forcibly raised a trace of spiritual power, struck Wei Hanzhen away with one palm, and shouted,
“Go!”
