“Your choices are as predictable as ever.” Nan Yue glanced at the plush bear the staff was carrying, remembering how Lin Chen’s eyes practically never left the plushies the first time she brought her here.

“Aren’t you the same? Always choosing the doll house.” Lin Chen teased her friend with a smile, acting as if she hadn’t noticed the extra person beside Nan Yue.

She remembered being invited out for the first time; she had expected a museum or somewhere similar to fit her friend’s usual style, only to be brought here. Her friend had even paid extra for multiple large plush toys, filling the room with fluff. Even the movie selection was fluffy—Lin Chen recalled a new movie featuring a villainous “bad rabbit” had just been released, and Nan Yue’s choice today would likely be exactly that.

Once the staff left, Lin Chen handed her bag to Nan Yue.

“A gift for me?” Nan Yue stared at Lin Chen. Could pregnancy really change a person this much?

“To warm your hands.” Lin Chen knew Nan Yue would love it. She had promised to accompany her before, but so much had happened that she hadn’t been able to make it; she felt a bit of guilt toward her friend.

The bag twitched. Nan Yue didn’t expect a living creature inside. Startled by the wriggling through the fabric, she opened the bag, and a round-headed little fellow poked its way out.

“Coo, coo.” The little snowy owl lunged into Nan Yue’s arms. Another pretty sister! And the sister next to her was also very good-looking. The owl felt this outing was worth it—plus, the white fluff beside the person holding it was so cute! Just like itself.

“This is…” Nan Yue lifted the clingy little fellow up, observing it closely but coming to no conclusion. However, she didn’t dwell on it; as long as it was fluffy, she loved it. She had no interest in the specific species.

“You can call it Xiao Xue.” Hearing its name, the owl turned its head to look at Lin Chen behind it. This action caught the attention of both Nan Yue and the strange Alpha—this cute little thing could actually turn its head 180 degrees.

At the mention of Yun Qi’s name, the strange Alpha’s eyes darkened for a moment.

“By the way, this is Mu Yu. She arrived in the Imperial Capital recently. She’s Aunt Mu’s daughter,” Nan Yue introduced the Alpha beside her.

“This is Lin Chen, my best friend,” Nan Yue said, turning to the Alpha.

Out of politeness, Lin Chen returned the greeting.

This strange Alpha gave her a very good feeling. Though she had never met her before, she subconsciously felt the woman was reliable. It had nothing to do with her being brought by Nan Yue; she felt that even if she had met this Alpha by chance, she would have trusted her.

That eerie feeling surfaced again. Lin Chen stopped engaging the Alpha. The sense of trust made her want to get closer, yet her subconscious told her to stay away—a conflict she had never felt before.

“Did you call me here for a reason?” Adjusting her mindset, Lin Chen asked her friend.

“Can’t I call you out to play if there’s no reason?” The owl in Nan Yue’s arms cooed in agreement, acting like a little traitor.

“The Yi Fei incident has caused a huge stir. There must be people helping them in the shadows.” The Organization was mainly composed of Omegas, some of whom were extreme due to their past experiences. With so many people dead, Yi Fei couldn’t have done it alone. They were worried about the fallout once everything came to light. “Have you met Yun Qi?” Lin Chen struggled to overcome the strange feeling in her heart. She wanted to know what about this woman made her Alpha call her name in her sleep.

“I saw her once at the military,” Mu Yu answered honestly.

“Did she… do anything?” Lin Chen knew the Alpha likely went there to be sarcastic. It wasn’t a good impression, and strangely, she didn’t want this woman and Yun Qi to have a rift.
