After Divorcing the Beautiful Richest Woman, She Fell in Love (GL) - Chapter 30
Jian Xiaomin had never been shoved so unceremoniously in her life. Having zero experience with such things, she was completely caught off guard. Moreover, high heels aren’t exactly known for stability. At that moment, she had used almost all her strength to push Jian Xiyan; it was easy to imagine the momentum when she was suddenly pushed back in return.
She almost fell flat on her back, instinctively reaching out with her right hand to brace herself against the ground, only to end up breaking her wrist in the process.
“Ah!” Xiaomin cried out in pain, her eyes instantly burning with tears.
But in the next second, she was struggling to find Jian Xiyan. Her mind was a chaotic mess, with only one thought jumping repeatedly: Sis! Sis!
Jian Xiyan was lying on the other side, shielded by the bodyguards. A bodyguard came over to ask about her condition, but a panicked Xiaomin kept looking past him, her mind entirely on the place she couldn’t see.
“How is my sister?” That was the first thing out of Xiaomin’s mouth as the bodyguard approached.
The bodyguard’s expression turned grim. He lowered his head and said in a low voice, “She hit her leg.”
Xiaomin’s brow furrowed tightly as she pressed further, “Where else is she hurt?”
“As of now, it looks like only the leg, but the specific situation won’t be certain until the ambulance arrives.”
The bodyguards had called the police and an ambulance. If it were just a minor injury, they would have prioritized escorting the sisters away to avoid a media frenzy. But Jian Xiyan’s injury looked severe, and the well-trained bodyguards didn’t dare move her haphazardly.
“Help me up. I want to go over and see.”
The bodyguard had just come from Jian Xiyan’s side. Although Xiaomin wasn’t in great shape herself, she was quite lucky compared to the woman whose trouser leg was almost entirely soaked red.
Xiaomin lifted her right hand, only to feel another surge of piercing pain. Supporting her wrist, she swayed as she stood up with the bodyguard’s help, only to find her foot also hurt terribly. Her ankle was already swollen. She gritted her teeth and tried to step twice before simply kicking her shoes off. Barefoot, she took two staggering steps, finding it incredibly difficult.
She said to the bodyguard, “Carry me over.”
On the bodyguard’s shoulder, she couldn’t hold back her tears. She never thought a distance of a few meters could feel so far. Her helplessness, contrasted against her burning anxiety, made her feel utterly pathetic. I’m so useless!
The bodyguard thought she couldn’t take the pain and asked, “Second Miss, should you rest here and wait for the doctor to check you first?”
“No! Hurry up, I want to see my sister!” Xiaomin sniffled hard and stopped crying.
The bodyguard carried her through the crowd of people surrounding the scene. Xiaomin craned her neck to look. Just one glance, and she nearly fainted on the spot. She felt as if her breath had stagnated; her head was filled with a buzzing sound, and a sense of numbness gradually spread through her body.
Jian Xiyan was sitting on the ground. Her beige suit no longer looked elegant; her long leg was now wrapped in trousers that were completely stained red.
“Put… me down.” Xiaomin’s voice trembled as she approached, walking with extreme difficulty.
Jian Xiyan was being supported by a bodyguard, struggling to sit up. Her expression was pained, and her tightly closed eyes looked as if she were suppressing her vulnerability, refusing to let it show.
“Sis!” Xiaomin found it difficult to squat, so she simply sat on the ground, completely disregarding her posture.
Jian Xiyan opened her eyes. Her pinned-up hair was now messy, with a few strands falling over her cheeks. Combined with her pale lips, she looked exceptionally fragile.
“You…” Jian Xiyan’s gaze swept over her completely, stopping at her wrist. “What happened to your hand?”
Xiaomin suppressed her tears, shaking her head violently. “It’s nothing, just a sprain.”
She didn’t dare look at Jian Xiyan’s leg, yet she couldn’t help but look. She was afraid—a directionless, overwhelming fear. She didn’t know what to do.
Jian Xiyan sensed her terror and tried to lift her spirits. “It should just be a fracture. It didn’t break into two pieces.”
“Sis!” Xiaomin suddenly burst into loud sobs; the tears simply wouldn’t stop. She was too terrified. Seeing the blood-soaked trouser leg, she had truly visualized a gruesome scene. But she didn’t dare associate those images with her sister; she didn’t dare ask, let alone confirm it.
Now, hearing Jian Xiyan say this, she finally had a release—a mix of panic and relief. A fracture was much better than the horrors she had imagined. Otherwise, she might never have escaped the shadow of this moment for the rest of her life.
Before long, the police and medical staff arrived. The driver, who had been restrained by the bodyguards, was taken away, while the medics carefully examined the sisters’ injuries. Xiaomin’s injury was manageable, but Jian Xiyan’s was serious; she needed both a stretcher and oxygen.
The bodyguards had tried their best to block the scene of the two being injured, but they couldn’t stop the massive crowd. People kept holding up their phones to take photos until Jian Xiyan was carried into the ambulance and driven away.
Jian Xiyan was somewhat groggy, and Xiaomin stayed by her side. She had never experienced such a raw medical emergency. Watching her drowsy sister, Xiaomin didn’t know whether she should try to keep her awake or let her rest. Helpless, she could only bite her lip and stare intensely.
Jian Xiyan occasionally opened her eyes, only to see Xiaomin’s face filled with a sorrowful expression as if she were saying a final goodbye. She wanted to laugh, wanted to comfort her, but she had no strength.
Upon arriving at the hospital, the sisters were separated for treatment. Jian Xiyan went straight into the operating room, while Xiaomin went to the orthopedics department for X-rays and bandaging.
Jian Shenyao rushed over after receiving the news at a dinner party, arriving around the same time as Yu Shuyi, who had come from the Main Residence. While Xiaomin was being bandaged, Yu Shuyi stood by, tears falling.
Jian Shenyao waited outside the operating room, listening to the bodyguards report the situation. Uncle Li was full of self-reproach: “It’s my fault for taking too long to get the car. Otherwise, this accident wouldn’t have happened.”
Jian Shenyao’s face was dark. “I’m afraid this matter isn’t that simple. We won’t know where the responsibility truly lies until the police investigate the situation.”
Xiaomin was worried about Jian Xiyan. After being bandaged, she insisted on waiting outside the operating room. Yu Shuyi had no choice but to find a wheelchair and push her over.
“Dad, how much longer will the surgery take?”
Jian Shenyao looked at his daughter with her right hand in a cast, his frustration growing. He glanced back at the light of the operating room. “We still have a long wait.”
It was then that he realized someone was missing. “Where is Lin Feiruo?”
Xiaomin didn’t speak, and the bodyguards looked at each other in silence. Jian Shenyao stood with his hands on his hips, his anger rising. “She’s not here? She didn’t come from the very beginning?”
He had originally thought Lin Feiruo had slipped away for a break, but it turned out she had been absent the entire time!
“Her wife is injured and in surgery, and she doesn’t care?” Jian Shenyao took out his phone and dialed Lin Feiruo’s number directly, only to get a message that it was turned off.
He became even angrier and irritably told Yu Shuyi to try as well. Yu Shuyi dialed from her own phone with the same result.
“In a time like this, Lin Feiruo is actually playing a disappearing act!” Jian Shenyao was furious; no one around him dared to make a sound. He instructed his bodyguards: “Go find out what Lin Feiruo has been doing today, where she was when Xiyan had the accident, and who she was in contact with.”
Xiaomin looked up blankly and explained, “Dad, you can be angry, but you can’t suspect Sister Feiruo. She had dinner with us tonight; she just had something to do and left early.”
“Left early?” Jian Shenyao was full of doubt. “What business could she have?”
Xiaomin stated frankly, “She didn’t say. But she definitely explained it to my sister before she left. Sis, she was…” Xiaomin suddenly remembered that after Lin Feiruo whispered in Jian Xiyan’s ear, her sister’s expression had changed. It clearly wasn’t something her sister was happy about, yet Sister Feiruo had insisted on leaving anyway.
Xiaomin’s mind was in a whirl, but she knew she couldn’t say these things right now. It would only make the situation worse. “Sis agreed at the time.”
Yu Shuyi also tried to persuade him: “Yes, Shenyao. It’s wrong that Feiruo didn’t appear in time, but you don’t need to suspect her because of it. After all, we’re family. Doing this hurts feelings.”
Just then, the operating room door opened. The doctor came out, and the group immediately surrounded him. The doctor removed his mask and said to Jian Shenyao, “A comminuted fracture of the left lower leg and a severe ligament tear in the right foot. Other areas have minor injuries, which are not a major concern.”
After hearing this, Xiaomin felt like the sky was falling. She was in agonizing pain from just a simple fracture; her sister’s injuries… She remembered that blood-soaked trouser leg again and felt a wave of dizziness.
While steadying her daughter, Yu Shuyi asked the doctor, “Will this affect Xiyan’s ability to walk or other functions in the future?”
“If she recovers properly and is proactive with rehabilitation, the impact won’t be too great,” the doctor said bluntly. “But if the patient or the family isn’t cooperative or attentive enough, there’s a strong possibility of sequelae.”
Jian Shenyao’s gaze was deep. “What kind of sequelae?”
The doctor said solemnly, “For example, a limp, or seasonal arthritis. In severe cases, it could affect normal walking ability.”
Xiaomin’s tears fell again. That absolutely could not happen to her sister!
Jian Xiyan was wheeled out by the nurses. Her calm face made it impossible to associate her with the gruesome situation the doctor described. Xiaomin grabbed the edge of the bed, wanting one last look at her sister.
Jian Shenyao told her to be calm. “Let Xiyan go to the ward and rest properly. You take care of yourself first!”
Xiaomin looked up. “Mom, can you push me to my sister’s ward?” Jian Shenyao didn’t stop the mother and daughter, but had his men continue calling Lin Feiruo.
After leaving the Zhixiang Restaurant, Lin Feiruo headed straight for the Yaxi Theater. She had thought she wouldn’t be late given the walking distance, but a kilometer away from the theater, she encountered a sea of people.
She was surprised. “Wasn’t it supposed to be a small salon? There are so many people!”
Looking closely at the crowd, they were mostly young people, many appearing to be students. Lin Feiruo felt gratified: Wellness is so popular among students; there really is a future for it.
Moving forward with the crowd, the theater drew closer. Lin Feiruo lowered her head to pull up the pre-saved number, planning to call once she reached the entrance. Just then, someone bumped into her, nearly knocking her phone away.
Before she could get angry, the person apologized proactively: “Sorry, sorry! I didn’t mean to.” It was a young girl with a round face and a bob cut, nearly half a head shorter than Lin Feiruo. She looked like a high schooler.
Seeing her sincere apology, Lin Feiruo didn’t pursue it, shaking her head. “Be careful next time.”
But… why did the fan in the girl’s hand have a picture of Jiang Wanru?
Lin Feiruo knew these were called “support fans,” custom-made by fans specifically for idol-chasing. Isn’t tonight a wellness salon? Why would Jiang Wanru’s fans bring support fans here? Is Jiang Wanru coming?
Lin Feiruo asked curiously, “Is Jiang Wanru part of tonight’s event?”
The round-faced girl replied with a grin, “Yeah! Not just Jiang Wanru, a lot of the other cast members are coming too—like Yan Shan and Li Yu.”
Lin Feiruo froze. “Isn’t this a wellness salon?”
The girl was also stunned and quickly checked her phone. “The salon you’re talking about is in the Little Theater; you have to go through the side passage. We’re going to the Grand Theater; tonight is an event for the film crew’s sponsors.”
Only then did Lin Feiruo realize she hadn’t distinguished between the Little Theater and the Grand Theater. By the time she reached the entrance of the salon, there were only seven minutes until the start.
She hurriedly dialed the number, and a ringtone sounded nearby. She instinctively turned to look and saw Dr. Yu smiling at her.
She rushed over. “Sorry, Dr. Yu! I went to the wrong entrance just now—I went to the Grand Theater.”
Yu Qingci had arrived at 8:00 PM to help with the setup and had instructed the staff about the tickets. However, she hadn’t received a call from Lin Feiruo until ten minutes before the start. She thought she had been stood up—it wouldn’t have been the first time. Few young people truly cared about wellness; most were just following a trend.
But then, she remembered the forum day—the young person sitting in the front row, listening intently and taking notes seriously. She looked just like Yu Qingci had during her student days. Usually, those in that section were from sponsors, and even if they took notes, it was mostly to fulfill a duty. Someone as serious as that young person was rare, so she had observed her.
After the event, many people had swarmed her for exchange, as usual. Yu Qingci answered patiently; though she knew the effects were minimal, she still spared no effort in promoting scientific wellness. That young person was also in the crowd, moving bit by bit to the front until she stood before her. She was a bit nervous, but the questions she asked made Yu Qingci’s eyes light up. She was different from the others; although constrained, Yu Qingci felt her questions were worth discussing.
It wasn’t just a one-way introduction of information, but a discussion. So, she had kindly handed over a business card, hoping for further communication.
Although she handed out the card, Yu Qingci didn’t have high expectations. To her surprise, after working late the next day, she found an inquiry email signed by Lin Feiruo. Lin Feiruo—Yu Qingci hadn’t asked the name that day, but she immediately associated the name with that face. She was happy someone truly liked nutrition, so she was glad to lead such a young person through the door—hence the invitation to this salon.
Thinking this way, Yu Qingci quickly dismissed the idea that Lin Feiruo was standing her up. She decided to walk to the entrance, partly to grade her own judgment. Sure enough, Lin Feiruo had just taken the wrong path. Yu Qingci smiled with satisfaction.
“The salon is about to start. Hurry inside.”
Yu Qingci was very easygoing, like a homeroom teacher who caught a late student but couldn’t bear to actually punish them. Lin Feiruo felt an instant sense of kinship.
“Do I need a ticket?” Lin Feiruo was a bit dazed and passive.
Yu Qingci took a pen from the registration desk and handed it to her. “Sign your name.”
Lin Feiruo wrote her name in the register, thinking it was a “sign-in for entry” system and that Dr. Yu must have submitted her name in advance. To her surprise, Yu Qingci also took a pen and signed her own name next to hers.
Seeing Lin Feiruo’s confusion, Yu Qingci smiled. “I am your recommender tonight.”
Recommender… It sounded very high-end and formal, perhaps even more exclusive than the previous forum. Lin Feiruo snapped out of it, guessing that tonight’s salon wasn’t as casual as Dr. Yu had made it sound in the email; it was very likely attended by industry heavyweights.
She was overjoyed; this was such a rare opportunity!
Following Yu Qingci into the theater, she was suddenly reminded: “Lin Feiruo, I hope everyone can focus on the exchange tonight. So, once the salon officially begins, please turn off your phone.”
Lin Feiruo expressed her understanding and pressed the power button in front of Yu Qingci. “I absolutely respect and cherish this exchange.”
