After Marrying the Cold and Elegant Beauty, I Fell in Love (GL) - Chapter 21.1
Going back to school was out of the question for now; after all, Long Aodi had acted like a total monster by reporting them. The campus was surely buzzing with gossip, just waiting to tear them apart.
Han Shuangshuang touched her reddened, slightly itchy earlobe, her thumb and index finger instinctively rubbing it a few times.
“Sister Shen, we can’t just let Long Aodi off the hook so easily. What he did was so out of line; he has zero morals and even broke the law. If we keep indulging him, who knows what else he’ll do in the future? I was by your side this time to save you, but I can’t be there every second. What if he succeeds next time?”
Shen Yuru, who was walking ahead of Han Shuangshuang, paused and turned around.
She saw Han Shuangshuang with her head slightly bowed, looking somewhat obedient, while her fingers still toyed with the earlobe she had just nibbled.
Shen Yuru’s heart suddenly skipped two beats.
However, she maintained a calm expression, indifferent. “You don’t need to get involved in this. I have my own plans.”
Han Shuangshuang pouted.
Truly, kindness is treated like dirt. Fine, she wouldn’t hold a grudge against the villain.
“Then where are we going now, Sister Shen?”
“To my place.”
Shen Yuru’s voice had a magical quality; her pronunciation was clear, but her tone was steady and not loud.
Hearing it made one feel inexplicably at peace, as if a restless, drifting heart had found a home.
Han Shuangshuang’s “fur” was completely smoothed over. She looked at Shen Yuru with puppy eyes. “Your personal residence? Isn’t that a bit improper? Won’t I be an intrusion?”
[System: Host, your expression right now is a bit ‘acting innocent after getting a bargain.’]
Han Shuangshuang silently rolled her eyes at the system in her heart.
Wasn’t it this dog system that forced her?
It insisted she increase Shen Yuru’s healing progress every day. To recover her heart, contact was necessary, and physical contact was the most basic form. That meant sticking to Shen Yuru every single day.
If Shen Yuru went back to her own place and didn’t take her along, she’d be homeless, let alone unable to make physical contact.
Shen Yuru ignored Han Shuangshuang’s words and simply walked ahead.
Han Shuangshuang immediately scurried after her.
By the time they left the hotel, it was already noon. The sunlight spilled perfectly over their shoulders—one in front, one behind—feeling warm and cozy. Shen Yuru looked cold and expressionless, while Han Shuangshuang followed with her hands behind her back, smiling as she leaned toward Shen Yuru.
Though Shen Yuru’s brow was slightly furrowed, she didn’t refuse; it was more like a silent indulgence.
A subtle atmosphere had actually formed between the two of them.
After Long Aodi returned to school, he was in a state of panic. He had assumed Han Shuangshuang wouldn’t step in to manage this matter.
But the words Han Shuangshuang said yesterday had shaken him, dealing him quite a blow. He was afraid she would truly retaliate against him.
Han Shuangshuang was just a playgirl—a hedonist who had dated more girlfriends than he could count on both hands. From start to finish, he never felt her treatment of Shen Yuru was sincere.
With Shen Yuru’s terrible health and gloomy personality, how could anyone easily fall for her?
If it weren’t for Han Shuangshuang, he might have succeeded yesterday.
Han Shuangshuang’s appearance didn’t stop Long Aodi; instead, it made him more aware of how the class divide affected him.
Being rich meant you could cover the sky with one hand and do whatever you wanted without a second thought, even ignoring the consequences. Meanwhile, he was currently the one being threatened and looked down upon.
He had worked desperately hard for most of his life, yet in front of a talentless Han Shuangshuang, he was still belittled as worthless, and he couldn’t even talk back.
The more Long Aodi thought about it, the more resentful he became. Yesterday’s words from Han Shuangshuang were like countless needles stabbing him. He couldn’t forget the insult to his self-esteem.
Scum like Han Shuangshuang should look at him with eyes of admiration and supplication.
In the Student Union office, Long Aodi’s face was twisted. He sat on his stool, gripping the book in front of him so hard the page was already a wrinkled mess.
Fortunately, no one else was in the office at the moment, so no one saw that the usually gentle and upright Student Union President had such a hideous and terrifying side.
Resentful, Long Aodi thought he had to find a way to turn the situation around. He wanted Han Shuangshuang to taste a humiliation ten times more painful than his own.
Just then, there was a light knock on the door. Long Aodi’s brow twitched. Looking at the messy desk, he threw the book into the trash, straightened his clothes and collar, sat upright, and cleared his throat before saying seriously, “Come in.”
Han Ruhua pushed the door open gently, her face showing a hint of shyness.
She knew that when a man’s pride is wounded, he prefers to be alone, which is why she hadn’t appeared before Long Aodi last night.
And she had discovered Han Shuangshuang and Shen Yuru’s secret.
She had long disliked her sister. Han Shuangshuang had never been good to her since childhood, always looking at her with those sinister eyes. Her mother didn’t like her either, saying this person was here to steal the family inheritance. If it weren’t for her, she could have had 100% of her father’s love.
Furthermore, because of Han Shuangshuang’s existence, she was constantly labeled an “illegitimate daughter” or “mistress’s child.” Those nasty words had haunted her all her life.
So, she preferred to act pitiful in front of others so they would forget her origins and stop mentioning it.
Her father already disliked Han Shuangshuang’s fooling around. Now that Han Shuangshuang was involved with the sole daughter of the Shen family, her father would surely be furious and kick her out of the Han house. From then on, she would be the only “Great Miss” of the Han family.
“Senior…”
Han Ruhua was small and lovely, with fair skin. She liked to keep her head slightly bowed, looking at others with pitiful eyes—very much like a “white lotus.”
Long Aodi felt a sigh of relief in his heart.
He didn’t know much about the internal affairs of the wealthy, but he had no interest in Han Ruhua.
While the Han family was strong, Han Ruhua’s father was very powerful. Even if he were with her, he’d probably have to wait thirty years to get the family assets.
But being with Shen Yuru was different. Her parents were dead, and the massive family business rested on her. As long as he controlled her, those assets would be in his hands.
Long Aodi put on his glasses, looking every bit the “refined scoundrel,” and smiled politely at Han Ruhua. “Is there something you need today, Junior?”
Han Ruhua stammered, her face turning a bit red. “Senior, I just wanted to tell you that my sister… her brain isn’t quite right. She didn’t mean to cross you. Please don’t have a negative view of our Han family because of her.”
Han Ruhua wanted to tell him not to let Han Shuangshuang affect their relationship, but she didn’t want to be too blunt.
She looked at Long Aodi with deep admiration. She had never seen such an excellent man who relied entirely on himself and kept everything in perfect order. As the Student Union President, he had great authority; students and even teachers had to listen to his opinions.
Long Aodi had an invisible attraction for her, holding her fast. She couldn’t even look away. Wherever he was, he was the only one in her eyes.
Long Aodi: “Your sister seems to be very close to Shen Yuru lately. They didn’t seem to return last night. I was feeling a bit unwell yesterday, so I didn’t go…”
Han Ruhua immediately cut in, “I know, I know it’s not easy for you, Senior. Taking a day off is fine. I happened to have things to do yesterday too, so I didn’t go for a walk over there.”
It seemed Han Ruhua hadn’t witnessed his conversation with Han Shuangshuang. Long Aodi breathed a sigh of relief.
Long Aodi: “Does your family know about your sister’s orientation? She plays around so much—won’t your father be angry?”
He didn’t miss any expression on Han Ruhua’s face as he tested her.
Han Ruhua didn’t like the idea of Long Aodi and Shen Yuru being linked either, but since the person in front of her was Long Aodi, she couldn’t bring herself to lie to him.
She shook her head. “Sister doesn’t come home much; she stays in the dorms. Father is busy and doesn’t talk to her much. He doesn’t really understand her.”
