After Mistakenly Marking a Sickly, Yandere Beautiful Omega, I Was Forced Into a Flash Marriage - Chapter 14
This was clearly another death trap.
Luo Yan thought helplessly to herself as she endured the contrasting gazes of the two Omegas. My life is so bitter.
In her original world, it wouldn’t have mattered if two close female friends were physically affectionate. But this was the ABO world. Even if she and Gong Lin were both biologically female, there was a natural chasm between an Alpha and an Omega. Given her relationship with Gong Lin, a hug was inappropriate.
Everyone present knew this. In particular, although the big villain was looking at her with a shallow smile—seemingly indifferent—Luo Yan felt as if Xue Wu was watching a heartless, scumbag Alpha, waiting to see how she would perform.
“…” She was truly being wronged.
However, perhaps it was an inherent Alpha flaw, but the more Xue Wu looked at her with that subtle gaze, the more Luo Yan’s rebellious streak flared. She decided she would give Gong Lin a hug just to see how the villain would react.
Actually… she didn’t really want to hug Gong Lin. She just wanted to use the opportunity to test the big villain’s attitude.
After all, the big villain didn’t have much sincere feeling for her; she was likely just playing with her like a pet. It was entirely possible Luo Yan was just flatteringly overthinking things.
So, in the end, she flashed a smile and said to Gong Lin, “Sure.”
Gong Lin was stunned by the answer, but after the initial daze, her eyes lit up.
Xue Wu’s expression didn’t change, but she knit her brows almost imperceptibly, a flash of gloom crossing her mind.
This “show” didn’t seem so entertaining anymore. Besides, what was she actually doing here? Wasting so much of her time on a fickle, flirtatious Alpha? Was there any point?
Xue Wu lowered her lashes, no longer watching them. Conveniently, the assistant director came over to ask her to return for blocking. Without so much as a glance at the pair, she turned and walked away. Though her features were as beautiful as a painting, they were exceptionally frosty.
Luo Yan watched her expression and felt her heart sink. Her playful mood vanished instantly.
Just then, a phone call came in for her. She apologized to Gong Lin and went to answer it. Even though Gong Lin didn’t get the hug, she felt a strange sense of satisfaction at having successfully irked Xue Wu.
Gong Lin had indeed been selected for the cameo. Fifteen minutes later, it was her turn to test the scene.
As scripted, the female Omega played by Xue Wu sat in the audience, listening intently to the mysterious jewelry appraiser on stage, occasionally asking a question or two. The filming started normally.
However, for some reason, every time Xue Wu asked a question, Gong Lin would freeze. She didn’t exactly forget her lines, but her delivery was hesitant and disjointed, severely affecting the quality of the shot.
Director Yang was famous for refusing to play the “entertainment industry rules” game, but she was obsessive about the final product. She could tolerate Gong Lin’s fumbles once or twice, but as the takes added up, her patience wore thin.
She called a halt immediately and asked the assistant director to give Gong Lin more guidance.
Gong Lin knew she was doing poorly. She thought she was fine, but every time she met Xue Wu’s moist, translucent eyes, her heart would fail her, and she’d start forgetting her lines.
Truthfully, Xue Wu hadn’t done anything to her. It was her own lack of backbone, so she couldn’t blame anyone else.
But the second and third attempts went just as poorly. It wasn’t just when she looked at Xue Wu anymore; now, whenever she met anyone’s gaze, she instinctively flinched away.
The feeling was lethal. By the end, she couldn’t get a single line out. It was painful to watch.
Without needing anyone to tell her, Director Yang sent Gong Lin to rest and change out of her costume. She sat in deep thought, wondering who could play this role. She never expected this minor part to be so difficult; neither the previous candidates nor Gong Lin had satisfied her.
“Luoluo… was I really that bad?” Gong Lin’s composure broke. When she finally stepped off set, she was nearly in tears as she spoke to Luo Yan.
Seeing her red eyes, Luo Yan could only comfort her: “You actually did quite well; you said everything you needed to. It’s just that you don’t have acting experience, so the pressure got to you…”
“Then… what if you did it? Could you do better?”
“Me? Of course not. I’m not a trained actor…” Are you kidding? I don’t want to get sucked into the plot! It’s too terrifying.
However, Director Yang’s voice suddenly rang in Luo Yan’s ear: “Little student, I think you look like you could handle this role. Why not give it a try?”
“Director… are you talking to me?” Luo Yan looked up in shock, appearing utterly incredulous.
“Yes. Your name is Luo Yan, right? I saw you analyzing things quite professionally just now. There’s no harm in trying a take.”
“I don’t—” Which eye did this director use to see me ‘analyzing professionally’?
The reason Gong Lin failed such a simple scene wasn’t due to a lack of talent; she had been suppressed by Xue Wu’s rank.
This kind of suppression is undetectable to ordinary people—only those of a similar rank can feel it. This meant the big villain, while appearing to do nothing to Gong Lin, was silently crushing her using the disparity in their status.
Luo Yan couldn’t figure out why the villain would do such a thing. But then again, the villain always acted on a whim. Who knew? Maybe Gong Lin had annoyed her earlier, and she decided to make her feel a little uncomfortable.
As she was about to utter a refusal, Director Yang sighed beside her: “Ah Wu actually isn’t feeling well today. If we keep filming like this, I don’t know if her body can take it…”
Luo Yan: “…” Wow, she’s even using the ‘illness’ card.
Luo Yan looked at Xue Wu; she didn’t look like anything was wrong, though maybe there was some discomfort in her gland. It didn’t seem major.
However, just as her gaze landed on her, Xue Wu turned her head and coughed a few times, looking quite distressed.
Luo Yan: “…” That ‘discomfort’ came right on cue.
She almost suspected the big villain and the director were conspiring against her.
“So, am I supposed to try the scene now?” Luo Yan felt it was becoming very difficult to refuse at this point.
“If you can, I’d really like you to try,” Director Yang said, looking at her with high expectations.
Anyone watching would have thought she was some big star being begged by the director to perform.
Luo Yan wasn’t thin-skinned, but she knew better than to act like a diva. The director had gone this far; refusing now would be ungrateful.
“Since Director Yang thinks so highly of me, I’ll give it a shot,” Luo Yan finally conceded.
Director Yang immediately beamed: “Good, good! Go change into the costume and let’s try a segment.”
In truth, Director Yang had favored Luo Yan from the start. Not just because she was an Alpha, but because her aura was contradictory and mysterious. Plus, she sensed some unspeakable secret between her and Xue Wu—or rather, she clearly felt Xue Wu treated her differently. She felt this was an opportunity.
Even if nothing else came of it, it was good for the gossip.
Luo Yan emerged shortly after changing. She noticed the costume seemed to carry a hint of Xue Wu’s pheromones, but she had no proof and didn’t dare be too sure.
Regardless, this wasn’t the costume Gong Lin had worn. She wouldn’t wear that one; it would be far too awkward.
The outfit was actually quite plain: standard dress pants and a white shirt. Since it was summer, they skipped the jacket. Wearing just the crisp shirt and sharp trousers, with her hair styled neatly, an aura that was both gallant and slightly cynical immediately emerged.
She truly fit the image of the mysterious lecturer.
Xue Wu watched the little Alpha walk from the audience to the podium. It was hard to describe the feeling. Luo Yan was only twenty-one, in the prime of her youth. She didn’t have a “mature” vibe, but now… there was something different about her. It was as if an Alpha had finally come of age, shed of her previous trembling demeanor.
She felt a strange sense of poignancy, and her gaze on Luo Yan deepened. It made Luo Yan feel “creepy.” As she passed by Xue Wu, she whispered submissively, “I hope Miss Xue shows some mercy later.” Please don’t crush me with your rank.
Xue Wu knew exactly what she meant. The little Alpha had noticed. She smiled: “You’re not an Omega. My rank is ineffective against you.”
“…” The villain actually admitted to her “crime” against Gong Lin so bluntly, making Luo Yan break into a sweat.
More importantly, while the villain couldn’t suppress her with rank, there was such a thing as a “physical attack”—a single look from her was enough to make anyone cower.
Luo Yan hadn’t been that nervous, but under the villain’s gaze, she became a wreck. It was tragic.
“Student Luo Yan, there’s no need to be so tense. I don’t eat people,” Xue Wu whispered in her ear as they brushed past each other. Her sweet pheromones acted like a lethal drug, nearly making Luo Yan break into a cold sweat.
The progress they had seemingly made in that corner earlier felt like it had been reset. Luo Yan dazed out, forgetting to explain to the villain that she hadn’t actually hugged Gong Lin.
Consequently, Luo Yan’s first attempt was a disaster. Director Yang began to wonder if she had misjudged her; Luo Yan’s performance was even worse than Gong Lin’s.
Watching her fumble her lines on stage, Xue Wu felt a surge of amusement. She hadn’t expected the girl to be so timid—becoming like this just because of a casual remark? Where did the courage she used to defy her go?
She watched with increasing provocation and interest, as if waiting to see how much more the usually arrogant Second Miss of the Luo family would embarrass herself.
Luo Yan felt pressure coming from all sides. What sin did I commit to deserve this agony?!
Looking at the villain’s eyes… it was as if all of this was within her expectations. This feeling of being controlled was genuinely irritating.
Why do this to her? She hadn’t offended her, and she was trying her best to stay away. Why treat her like this? Did she really think she was easy to bully?
Luo Yan was cowardly, yes, but she hated being toyed with for no reason. She had done nothing wrong.
She stopped caring. She looked directly at Xue Wu. Her gaze was calm but contained a surging tide, like a spark of light suddenly appearing in the darkest night. It was unnervingly cold.
Xue Wu met her gaze across the distance and understood the meaning behind it. She curled her lips into a smile, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, her interest piqued even further. A little Alpha showing her fangs—now that’s interesting.
Luo Yan stopped being a coward. She adjusted her mindset instantly. When Director Yang called “Action” again, she actually breezed through the scene in a single take, shocking everyone present.
The scene wasn’t extremely difficult, but for someone with no experience, it had its challenges—especially with the professional terminology mixed into the dialogue. In short, it wasn’t easy to act.
Furthermore, she was playing opposite Xue Wu. A single second of distraction would lead to being “overshadowed,” yet Luo Yan nailed it the second time. Even Director Yang was surprised.
“This Second Miss Luo… seems to be a bit of a dark horse,” Director Yang remarked while reviewing the monitor.
Xue Wu also watched the screen, staring at Luo Yan’s face with a faint smile, as if she had discovered a well-kept secret. She began to hatch a new plan.
Zhong Ting was the most displeased. She had been humiliated twice today, both times involving this Alpha named Luo Yan. It would be a miracle if she were in a good mood. Sooner or later, she would find a way to deal with this self-important second miss.
The morning shoot was basically over. When Luo Yan stepped off the podium, she realized her palms were soaked with sweat. The acting profession was clearly not for everyone.
She sighed, feeling that today’s experience had been bizarre enough.
“Luoluo, you were amazing just now! That was incredible!” Gong Lin had watched the whole thing and was in awe. When Luo Yan came down, she looked at her with literal stars in her eyes.
Luo Yan was happy to hear the praise, ignoring the worship in her eyes. She said humbly, “It was okay. The first time was really embarrassing.”
“But the second time was like you were using a cheat code! It was so impressive!” Gong Lin recalled her own attempt with fear: “Mostly, I just didn’t dare look Movie Queen Xue in the eye. Her aura is too strong.”
As she said this, Xue Wu and her assistant happened to pass by with other cast and crew. Hearing this, Xue Wu turned and gave her a smile: “It was my fault. I shouldn’t have treated a little Omega like that.”
“And please, Student Gong Lin, don’t let word of this get out. Otherwise, news about ‘Xue Wu bullying a civilian’ will be all over the trending topics again.”
“I… I didn’t…” Gong Lin felt genuinely aggrieved; it seemed the Movie Queen was constantly targeting her.
“If you really feel like I’ve bullied you, you can always ask your Alpha classmate for another hug to comfort you. That way, you won’t feel so wronged.”
Xue Wu turned her nonchalant gaze toward Luo Yan, a smile playing on her lips: “Student Luo Yan, don’t you agree?”
Luo Yan: “…” What kind of “crematorium” (jealousy-fueled disaster) is this?!
