After Signing a Marking Agreement with the Abstinent Omega - Chapter 19
“Go to my room.”
The woman’s cool voice carried a hint of warmth, reaching Xie Queyou’s heart like a breeze carrying the evening tide.
Her body stiffened, and fireworks exploded uncontrollably in her heart.
“Go… to your room.”
Xie Queyou repeated it softly, as if she had been hit by a ball of cotton. Even her head felt a little dizzy.
Yun Wangqing stepped past her, and the faint, clean fragrance on her body fell into Xie Queyou’s lungs.
“That’s right. Didn’t you say you were going to treat me? If we’re not in the same room, how are you supposed to treat me?”
She seemed to realize that what she had said just now was a little ambiguous. After giving that concise reply, she hurried into the bedroom, leaving Xie Queyou only with her back.
Xie Queyou looked at the bedroom door that had closed but left a crack open, feeling somewhat delighted.
It was still early, so Xie Queyou went to the guest room bathroom to take a shower. She washed herself clean, put on the disposable underwear prepared in the guest room, and wrapped herself in sleepwear.
She did not know where the clothes she had worn yesterday had gone. Her shirt, pants, and even her inner clothes were nowhere to be found. Xie Queyou searched the room for quite a while but could not find them.
She guessed that Auntie had thrown them into the trash along with the garbage.
After drying her hair, Xie Queyou, still carrying a bit of dampness from the shower, walked to Yun Wangqing’s door. She steadied her wildly beating heart and knocked.
“Come in.”
The woman’s cool voice came through the heavy bedroom door, sounding a little muffled.
After receiving permission, Xie Queyou pushed the door open and entered.
Yun Wangqing was sitting against the bed. A dim yellow lamp was lit by the bedside table. She had changed into another nightdress and was wearing a pair of black-rimmed glasses while reading a script.
Yun Wangqing raised her head and glanced at her, then lowered her head and continued reading.
“You’re here.”
Xie Queyou was so nervous that even her words came out a little halting. She only answered vaguely, “…Mm.”
She closed the door and walked to the bedside.
The room’s fresh-air system was running very cleanly. The ambiguous pheromones that had lingered in the air that morning had long vanished. Only the faint scent of calming incense that had already burned out remained.
Smelling the unfamiliar fragrance, Xie Queyou subconsciously twitched her nose. Her brows furrowed slightly, and she felt a little uncomfortable.
“You sleep first. I still have to read for a while.” Yun Wangqing glanced at her, turned a page of the script in her hand, and said to her.
Xie Queyou swallowed. “Okay.”
She walked to the bed and carefully lifted the quilt, trying not to disturb Yun Wangqing. Her one-meter-seventy-five body curled itself into a small ball and slipped inside.
This was the first time she was sharing a bed with Yun Wangqing while both of them were awake.
It could not be said that she was not nervous. She was so nervous she was about to suffocate!
The sheets and quilt had both been changed. They carried a faint detergent scent mixed with Yun Wangqing’s unique fragrance, just enough to completely cover the smell of the incense.
No matter how many times Xie Queyou smelled this pleasant scent, she would never get tired of it.
Her raised heart eased slightly. She could not help burying her head into the bedding and taking a deep breath.
Half of the nervousness wrapped around her heart dissipated. That familiar scent soothed her helplessness.
The quilt was soft, and the pillow was especially comfortable. Clearly, the things in the master bedroom and guest room were the same, but Xie Queyou somehow felt that Yun Wangqing’s room was more comfortable.
Just as she hugged the quilt and took another breath, the sound of fabric rustling suddenly came beside her ear.
She raised her head. Yun Wangqing picked up the remote on the bedside table and turned on the room’s fresh-air system.
The humming sound of machinery started. Xie Queyou froze. The Omega scent covering her nose quickly dispersed, and she immediately grew anxious.
No, don’t. She had not smelled enough yet.
Xie Queyou’s lips opened, then closed. Feeling wronged, she buried her head into the quilt.
She filled herself with cedar again.
Because they had said there would be marking, Xie Queyou had not put on a suppressant patch. At this moment, sunk in the cool cedar scent, her gland felt too comfortable, and she could not help releasing lime to mingle with it.
At some unknown point, the fresh-air system stopped running. The room once again filled with entangled pheromones.
In place of the two of them, the scents happily fused with one another.
Xie Queyou lifted her head from the quilt and looked at Yun Wangqing beside her.
She was lying on her side, half her body covered in broken golden light. Even the way her hair drifted was perfectly timed.
She was looking at the script in her hand meticulously, as if she had no concern for anything outside.
But only Xie Queyou knew that the increasing amount of cedar in the air was a sign that Yun Wangqing was also happy.
Yun Wangqing did not like talking to others and was not good at revealing her emotions, but her pheromones were far more honest than she was.
The corner of Xie Queyou’s lips curved slightly as she carefully traced Yun Wangqing’s appearance with her gaze.
No matter how many times she looked, Yun Wangqing’s beauty was enough to steal one’s soul.
Her face was slender but not sharp. Her brows were pale and gentle, and the ends of her eyes drooped slightly, naturally carrying an icy, proud aloofness.
Someone like this was born to become someone else’s white moonlight.
She thought again of this novel, of what Yun Wangqing would experience later, and her heart suddenly grew a little heavy.
After winter, Yun Wangqing would enter a marriage alliance with Xie Rong’an. That was an unchangeable plot point in the novel.
Thinking of Xie Rong’an’s arrogant appearance before, a hidden displeasure suddenly rose in Xie Queyou’s heart. She bit her lip and pressed down this sudden emotion.
Her gaze moved downward to look at the script in Yun Wangqing’s hand, her mind a mess.
“You seem very interested in this?”
The woman’s voice suddenly came from above. Yun Wangqing seemed to come back to herself and pulled out an excuse.
“I’ve also been looking at scripts and searching for actors recently, so I couldn’t help thinking about it more.”
Her gaze moved away from the script and looked elsewhere, her eyes drifting.
Yun Wangqing did not doubt her. She closed the script and comforted her. “You’ve already solved the difficult parts with the team. Once you find actors, you won’t be this tired anymore.”
She placed the script aside and lay down under the quilt. The distance between her and Xie Queyou suddenly drew closer.
So close that Xie Queyou could even hear her breathing.
And also a heartbeat almost in sync with her own.
Without the sound of pages turning, the room became much quieter. Xie Queyou lay flat on the bed, clutching the quilt tightly, feeling as stiff as a mummy.
Click—
The small lamp beside them was turned off, and the room suddenly fell into dimness.
With her vision obscured, her hearing and sense of smell became even sharper.
She heard Yun Wangqing turn over. She heard her light, shallow breathing. She smelled the scent on her body, growing richer and closer.
Closer and closer?
Xie Queyou secretly opened her eyes and looked in Yun Wangqing’s direction.
The curtains were not closed, and the bright moonlight illuminated the room. Xie Queyou’s gaze crashed into a pair of teasing eyes.
“Why are you so nervous? It’s not like I’ll bully you.” Yun Wangqing lay on her side and looked at her, laughter in her eyes.
Xie Queyou’s hand tightened further around the quilt, and her palms were sweating.
“N-no.” She squeezed out a stiff smile.
Yun Wangqing smiled. “Is that so?” As she spoke, she reached out.
Her gaze followed the movement of her fingertips, slowly moving from Xie Queyou’s cheek to the position of her heart. It stopped there and tapped lightly, neither too heavy nor too light.
“But your heartbeat is disturbing me.”
Clearly, there was a thick quilt between them, yet it made Xie Queyou’s heart tremble even more than if Yun Wangqing had touched it directly.
Only belatedly did Xie Queyou realize that her heartbeat was actually this loud. Her face instantly turned red.
Feeling too ashamed to show herself, she hurriedly pulled the quilt up to her cheeks, leaving only a pair of harmless eyes exposed.
“I-it’s my first time sleeping in the same bed as someone, so I’m a little nervous.”
The smile at the corner of Yun Wangqing’s mouth stiffened. “First time?”
Xie Queyou hurriedly added, “The previous two times with you, neither of us was clearheaded. This is the first time I’ve shared a bed with someone while awake.”
Afraid that Yun Wangqing would think she was turning her back after the fact, Xie Queyou hurriedly explained. Because of that, she missed the complicated emotion that flashed through Yun Wangqing’s eyes.
“So that’s how it is.” Yun Wangqing only said this softly. There was a curve at the corner of her mouth that Xie Queyou could not understand, and then she said no more.
She lay back down and covered herself with the quilt.
“All right. Sleep.”
The room fell quiet again. Xie Queyou looked at the side of Yun Wangqing’s face left to her and tilted her head in confusion.
She did not continue thinking about it. Yun Wangqing always showed expressions like this, and she was already used to it.
She covered herself properly and closed her eyes. The moon was bright, the stars were sparse, and Xie Queyou still could not fall asleep.
The room was very quiet, so quiet that she could hear Yun Wangqing’s even, shallow breathing.
The pheromone concentration in the air was still too low. By early morning, these pheromones would dissipate, and Yun Wangqing’s gland would once again enter an unstable state.
Xie Queyou pressed her lips together, gently breathed in, and tried to mobilize her gland.
She was now deeply aware of her role as medicine. Her consciousness was clear, and she no longer lost control like last night.
Yun Wangqing’s gland temporarily could not withstand frequent marking, so Xie Queyou instead released pheromones to help soothe her.
After what happened last night, Xie Queyou’s ability to control her gland had improved quite a lot compared to before. Her pheromone release had become increasingly skilled.
The lime scent slowly seeped out bit by bit. Unlike last night’s anxious need to possess, it was gentle and restrained, slowly spreading through the bedding.
A few seconds later, another scent responded to her.
A clear, cold fragrance surged from the gland. The sharp cedar carried a steady, clean aura as it spread, racing to cover her gland like wind that had just brushed past winter branches—cool but not icy.
Xie Queyou inexplicably let out a breath of relief. It seemed to be effective.
She closed her eyes and focused on maintaining the release, completely forgetting that she was still in her rut period.
Last night, Yun Wangqing had fainted before the marking ended, so Xie Queyou had not completed the mark.
After coming into contact with too much of Yun Wangqing’s pheromones, Xie Queyou did not feel especially comfortable. Instead, a faint restlessness rose from deep within her heart.
The cedar wrapped around her gland gradually grew thicker. The cold fragrance pressed close to her gland, touching it silently.
Xie Queyou’s breathing paused, and memories from last night suddenly surfaced.
The feeling of teeth against skin. The hidden satisfaction after piercing through that skin. She subconsciously ground her back teeth, wanting so badly to bite something.
The refreshing lime also changed its attitude along with its owner’s state of mind. Filled with possession and longing, it occupied the room, intertwining with those defenseless strands of cedar.
It grew richer and richer, and the air in the room gradually became thick.
Two sets of breathing slowly grew heavier, especially clear in the night.
Yun Wangqing turned over, her breathing hot and damp, her back facing Xie Queyou. The sound of the quilt lightly rubbing was magnified several times in the silence.
She seemed to be enduring something. Her breathing became unsteady. Her legs unconsciously tightened and rubbed together, then quickly stopped with restraint.
Hidden pheromones were released from the back of her neck, carrying a cold fragrance that tempted the mind. Just a little was enough to destroy an Alpha’s reason.
Xie Queyou opened her eyes in the darkness, staring straight at the person opposite her. A faint heat began to burn at the back of her neck.
The cold cedar turned passionate, intimately drilling into every part of Xie Queyou’s body. Even each breath was possessively wrapped full of cedar pheromones.
The mattress suddenly lightened. Yun Wangqing sat up, moving so quickly that she barely gave anyone time to react.
She did not turn around, did not even have time to glance at Xie Queyou. She got out of bed, her voice much hoarser than usual.
“I’m going to the bathroom.”
Her back was hurried, and she fled inside as if escaping.
