After the Fake Young Master Ran Away with His Child, the Villain Went Crazy - Chapter 1
Jing Ruan woke up from the nightmare once again.
The very first thing he did upon waking was check his surroundings. When his eyes fell upon the glazed glass lamp sitting on the nightstand, a wave of relief washed over him, and he gently patted his chest.
It had already been three months since Jing Ruan transmigrated into this storybook world.
Having been utterly terrified by the bitter, miserable life he used to live, Jing Ruan was deeply afraid of waking up back in the real world. To him, reality and his current life were the literal definitions of hell and heaven.
“Butler! Butler!”
Clad in silk pajamas, Jing Ruan rolled out of bed and hurriedly made his way out of the bedroom. The butler was the first person Jing Ruan had laid eyes on after transmigrating here.
The original owner’s parents had passed away early, leaving the butler to raise him from childhood. To the original owner, the butler was not just an employee, but family.
Using the excuse that he had accidentally hit his head and forgotten a lot of things, Jing Ruan had the butler take him to the hospital for a check-up. Once the doctors cleared him of any issues, the butler brought him home and filled him in on his life.
Only then did Jing Ruan realize he had transmigrated as a young master—one who was entirely free from financial worries and possessed a vast fortune. Upon hearing the news, Jing Ruan had been ecstatic.
Downstairs, the butler was currently instructing the servants to set up breakfast, which was exceptionally lavish.
Seeing the young master running down the stairs in his slippers with a loud pat-pat-pat, looking like a fledgling chick that couldn’t bear to be away from its mother for too long, the butler watched him hurriedly seek out his sense of security.
“Butler, I keep having nightmares at night. Can you find a doctor to check on me?” Jing Ruan ran right up to the butler, tugging at his sleeve coaxingly.
Butler Zhou looked down at the slender young master before him. The boy had ruby lips, pearly teeth, and bright, innocent eyes. The pajamas he wore were visibly a bit too large, slipping slightly to reveal his fair collarbones.
“Of course, Young Master.” Butler Zhou gently adjusted his glasses, offering a genial, warm smile.
Beside them, the servant setting the table kept their head lowered incredibly low. The hand holding the platter couldn’t help but tremble slightly—a movement so subtle that no one noticed it.
“Young Master, please go freshen up first. Breakfast is about to be served.” Butler Zhou coaxed him back upstairs.
Jing Ruan obediently headed back up to brush his teeth and wash his face.
Turning back to glance at the servants working in the main hall, Butler Zhou made sure everyone was diligently focused on their tasks without a single person slacking off before he walked outside.
While brushing his teeth, Jing Ruan stared intently at the mirror.
The face in the reflection wasn’t unfamiliar; it was still Jing Ruan’s own features. After washing up, he pulled a jar of pleasantly scented lotion—whose brand name he didn’t recognize—out of the cabinet, scooped a little bit out, and smoothed it onto his face.
Once it was patted evenly into his skin, Jing Ruan couldn’t help but grin.
“Haha! Young Master, Young Master Jing!”
After laughing, Jing Ruan pulled down his lower eyelids with his index fingers and made a funny face at his reflection. He was still young and possessed the natural innocence of a teenager, so these childish antics didn’t look out of place at all.
Jing Ruan was the textbook definition of the overnight nouveau riche.
After finishing his morning routine, he headed downstairs to eat breakfast. Once he finished eating, he headed out the door, hailing a taxi to take him to a specific address he had memorized by heart.
It was the back entrance of a shopping mall. The surrounding area happened to be under demolition, cordoned off with banners and corrugated iron sheets. Jing Ruan knew from the book that the male protagonist, Yan Jin, would get injured here today, which would lead to his encounter with the female protagonist.
Thus initiating their deep saga of love and hate.
Jing Ruan wanted to seize this opportunity to camp out ahead of time. In his mind, since Yan Jin was the male protagonist, he was bound to be incredibly powerful.
Jing Ruan figured that if he could successfully become friends with the protagonist now, all he would have to do in the future was ride his coattails to live a life of luxury. After all, that was how all the books wrote it.
Following the descriptions in the novel, Jing Ruan located the spot. He squatted behind a bare wall on the ground floor of the construction site. According to the plot, Yan Jin had come to the mall alone today to buy some things, and on a whim, decided to check on a project he had invested in.
Because someone higher up had been throwing wrenches in his plans, the project had been halted for a long time. Yan Jin was merely an illegitimate son without much liquid capital; it could be said he had wagered more than half his net worth on this venture.
All of this was due to the schemes of Yan Qian—Yan Jin’s older brother. The difference between them was that one was the son of the legal wife, while the other was an illegitimate child, and Yan Qian wanted to crush him completely.
Jing Ruan gripped the rough, unfinished wall with both hands. Acting like a thief, he poked half his head out from time to time to look around. Finally, he spotted someone walking toward the area.
Excitement flared within him, and his grip on the wall tightened so hard that his pink fingernails turned white. He stayed perfectly still until he heard a loud thud, as if something heavy had crashed downward.
Jing Ruan chose to wait quietly for a moment. He wanted to let the female lead play out her part of the plot before he made his move, fearing that if he altered the timeline too early, the contents of the book might completely derail later on.
The wait wasn’t long. After about ten minutes, Jing Ruan heard a commotion. Poking his head out, he discovered a beautiful older sister preparing to pull the male lead out of a pit.
The construction site had been abandoned for a long time, and the corrugated iron fencing outside had been stolen and sold by thieves, leaving the terrain rugged and full of potholes. In his attempt to dodge falling debris from the structure, the male protagonist had accidentally fallen into a pit and knocked himself unconscious.
Jing Ruan quickly ran over to them, feigning ignorance as he asked, “Sister, what happened? How did this big brother fall in there?”
Tao Wan was startled by the sudden appearance of someone else. Once she clearly saw that it was just a young teenager, she quickly scanned the surroundings before casting her gaze toward the upper floors of the building.
“Little brother, what are you doing here?” Tao Wan felt a prickle of vigilance. She had only taken a shortcut through this construction site, unexpected encountering an injured man, and now this boy had suddenly popped out of nowhere.
Looking at the boy’s clothes and grooming, he didn’t look like someone who belonged in a place like this at all.
Jing Ruan only knew how to camp out and help; he hadn’t thought up a proper excuse to justify his presence. Unable to look Tao Wan in the eye, he stammered that he had just wandered in to look around and ended up getting lost.
Seeing how clumsily he lied, Tao Wan knew he was harmless and lacked any real guile. Choosing not to expose him, she directly gestured for his help.
“Little brother, give me a hand. Let’s get him out of here.”
Jing Ruan nodded obediently, doing exactly what the female lead instructed.
Together, they hauled the man out of the pit and supported him over to the roadside. Before long, an ambulance arrived, and the two of them accompanied him to the hospital.
On the way there, Jing Ruan pressed himself against the window to look outside. Suddenly, he noticed two cars trailing the ambulance closely, driving at high speeds and tracking them relentlessly.
Frightened, Jing Ruan quickly pointed it out.
The medical staff confirmed the tail. After promptly calling the police, the driver accelerated toward the hospital, completely unfazed. Their psychological resilience was remarkably formidable.
By contrast, Jing Ruan gripped the handrail tightly, his heart leaping into his throat.
Fortunately, it didn’t take long to shake off the pursuing vehicles.
Upon arriving at the hospital, the doctor ran a series of checks. The male lead didn’t have any major issues aside from a mild concussion and a laceration on the back of his neck caused by gravel, which required three or four stitches.
The doctor recommended keeping him under observation for a few days before discharge, and then instructed them to settle the fees. Wanting to earn some brownie points, Jing Ruan eagerly volunteered to handle it.
However, the moment he stepped out of the doctor’s office, he realized he was completely clueless. He had to stop a passing lady for help, taking quite a while before he finally figured out how to pay the bill.
Once the transaction was complete, Jing Ruan returned to the ward.
By this time, the male protagonist had already regained consciousness and was propped up against the pillows. The female protagonist was sitting beside him, chatting. From the looks of it, the two had already developed a mutual fondness upon their first meeting.
Yan Jin noticed a fluffy head popping up outside the ward door. Seeing that they were chatting, the head quickly retracted.
Having already learned the sequence of events from Tao Wan, Yan Jin smiled and spoke toward the doorway.
“Little brother, come in and sit down. What are you hiding for?”
Hearing the male lead call out to him, Jing Ruan instantly stood up straight and walked inside, taking a seat on the opposite side of the hospital bed.
Seeing how young he was, Yan Jin introduced himself first before asking for Jing Ruan’s name and age. He then inquired about the medical expenses, intending to transfer the money back to him.
Jing Ruan hastily pulled out his phone, fiddled with it for a bit, and added Yan Jin as a contact. After doing so, Yan Jin turned to Tao Wan and added her as well.
The place where Jing Ruan used to live was the Lower Fifth District—the filthiest, smelliest, and darkest place imaginable. He had never seen people as striking and attractive as the main leads before, so he couldn’t help but stare a little dynamic like a starstruck fan.
The male protagonist, Yan Jin, possessed sharp, sword-like brows and starry eyes. True to her name, the female protagonist, Tao Wan, was gentle and graceful, with an outgoing streak that easily reminded one of the warm winter sun. She felt incredibly approachable, making people naturally want to draw closer to her.
Jing Ruan had no idea that while he was sizing them up, they were studying him too. In their eyes, Jing Ruan was wearing a simple white T-shirt embroidered with a majestic, fierce tiger. His eyes were bright and moist, bursting with vibrant vitality, his lips were crimson against white teeth, and his skin was as smooth and flawless as mutton-fat jade.
Meanwhile, across a vast expanse of forest, several helicopters were cruising slowly through the sky. A few men stood near the open cabin doors, wearing specialized tactical goggles and holding weapons, firing continuously down into the woods below.
As gunfire echoed repeatedly, a flock of sheep in the forest panicked, scattering and fleeing forward. However, the mountain terrain ahead harbored even greater danger—it was the domain of the lions.
The phone in Chen Fu’s trousers pocket vibrated. Removing his goggles to hang them casually from his collar, he pulled out his phone to check the caller ID.
Upon connecting the call, the person on the other end reported a significant amount of information. Two minutes later, Chen Fu hung up and tapped the mic clipped to his left chest.
“Yan Qian, there’s been a slight hitch in the plan…”
Yan Qian was in another helicopter. Everyone heard Chen Fu’s voice through the comms. Upon hearing the news, Yan Qian’s focus wavered right as he pulled the trigger, accidentally shooting and killing one of the sheep in the flock.
“Damn it, Chen Fu! You couldn’t fucking give me a heads-up? I just killed a sheep.”
“My condolences.”
“My condolences.”
“My condolences.”
The other men in the comm channel chimed in one after another with the exact same phrase.
Yan Qian carefully glanced over at Yan Yihe, who was standing on the other side of the cabin. Unlike the rest of them, Yan Yihe wasn’t wearing any tactical gear. He merely stood by the edge in a casual western suit, completely devoid of any protective measures.
“Yihe, I’m sorry. I lost my focus just now. How about I compensate you with a whole new flock of sheep?”
Yan Qian thought to himself that luck really wasn’t on his side today. Not only had the plan run into a hitch, but he had also accidentally shot dead a sheep from Yan Yihe’s menagerie.
This forest, spanning a radius of a hundred miles, was Yan Yihe’s private beast sanctuary, housing all kinds of animals. They had come up today to enjoy the entertainment of wild beasts tearing into their prey. Who would have thought he’d end up becoming the source of entertainment instead?
Yan Yihe was a decent guy in most aspects.
However, if anyone touched his belongings without permission, he would turn on them in a heartbeat, completely discarding years of friendship.
Yan Yihe looked at Yan Qian with a faint, unreadable smile.
“I only agreed to let you guys come up here to watch the wild beasts tear into their prey for amusement. I never said you could shoot the wildlife dead.”
After saying this, Yan Yihe called out a name.
“Yan Luo.”
Sitting in the cockpit, Yan Luo had been by Mr. Yan’s side since childhood and naturally understood the underlying meaning immediately.
Consequently, the remaining men witnessed the following scene:
One of the three helicopters suddenly surged upward, and immediately after, a figure plunged out of the cabin.
Yan Qian hastily deployed his parachute.
He swayed back and forth before managing a stable landing.
He thought the ordeal was over, only to realize he had landed right near the flock of sheep—and the sheep were fast approaching the lions’ hunting grounds.
Fuck.
Yan Qian scrambled up the nearest tree as fast as he could. Below him, the lions began to slaughter their prey. Sensing a lion heading in his direction, Yan Qian fired his gun into the air to deter it.
Only after he had gotten his fill of the show did Yan Yihe finally instruct Yan Luo to lower the rope ladder.
Yan Qian climbed up the rope ladder, collapsing utterly exhausted into his seat. Through the comms, the others mockingly asked him how it felt to watch the action from such close proximity, and whether it had been thrilling.
Meanwhile, Yan Yihe walked over with a smile, extending a hand to pull him up.
