Summary
Synopsis:
Gu Xianyu was a wood-type ability user who died miserably while resisting a beast tide. When she opened her eyes again, she discovered she had become the cannon-fodder consort in a novel.
The princess’s beloved, the Grand General, had gone missing on the battlefield. So when an enemy kingdom pressured the princess into a political marriage alliance, the princess chose the sickly Gu Xianyu and married her at lightning speed.
By the time the Grand General returned, the original owner of the body had also very conveniently dropped dead.
Gu Xianyu wanted to find a chance to fake her death and escape, only to discover that physical contact with the princess could replenish the energy for her ability. So Gu Xianyu racked her brains for ways to touch the princess, while also bringing out all kinds of crops to cooperate with her.
“Your Highness, high-yield potatoes. Can I trade them for one… no, ten hugs?”
“Your Highness, sweet potatoes that can yield a thousand jin per mu. Can I trade them for half a month of sleeping together?”
“Your Highness, superior cotton seeds. Can I trade them for two kisses?”
“Your Highness, I don’t want anything else. Can you just give me one breath of pheromones?”
Her ability was replenished every day, and Gu Xianyu was extremely happy. All she had to do was wait until her energy was fully charged, then ask the princess for a divorce.
But then the Grand General came back early. Gu Xianyu did not want to stand in the way of two lovers finally ending up together, so she took out the divorce papers herself and prepared to leave.
Meng Qianyan had been assigned a sickly invalid as her consort by the emperor, and everyone in the capital was waiting to laugh at her.
Meng Qianyan only smiled and said nothing. What did these people know? Her consort loved her to death, bringing every good thing she had straight to Meng Qianyan’s side, asking for neither fame nor fortune—only a few scraps of her favor.
Still, Meng Qianyan always kept a careful hold on the distance between them. After all, Alphas in this world were always so prone to stop cherishing something once they had obtained it.
Until—
Her consort took out the divorce papers.
