After Transmigrated as a Black-Hearted Entertainment Boss [Transmigration] - Chapter 6
The following day happened to be Saturday, and a heavy silence hung over the Taoli Entertainment trainee dorms. With no school or work, and having helped move heavy objects the night before, almost everyone was in a deep slumber with no sign of waking—except for Gu Nan and Chen Xing.
One was driven by a biological clock forged from years of early-morning food delivery; once 7:00 AM hit, his mind began its silent clamor, making it impossible to sleep in. The other was intimidated by the “curse” that skipping breakfast would stunt his growth; once awake, he had to crawl out of bed to forage, terrified that missing a single bite would cost him a centimeter in height.
Thus, when Chen Xing rubbed his eyes and walked into the kitchen, he saw Gu Nan standing motionless in front of the refrigerator.
“Brother Nan?”
Gu Nan glanced at Chen Xing and pulled a sticky note off the fridge. “Did Young CEO Tao leave this?”
Chen Xing stood on his tiptoes to look and nodded. “Yeah. He said he can’t get up early in the morning, so he can’t make breakfast for us. He made it in advance and left it in the fridge; we just have to heat it up… What is it?”
“Potstickers.” Gu Nan took out a three-layered container and turned to place a frying pan—which had appeared in the kitchen out of nowhere—onto the stove.
Chen Xing’s eyes widened. “Brother Nan, what are you doing?”
“Making potstickers.”
Gu Nan looked calm, but Chen Xing looked as if he were facing a formidable enemy. “You’re making them? Maybe I should do it…”
There were three “kitchen disasters” in this house: Gu Nan, Diwu Zou, and Zeng Yinuo. Chen Xing wasn’t much better, but at least he wouldn’t blow up the kitchen.
“Don’t worry, the steps are written very clearly.” Gu Nan raised the sticky note with a subtle expression.
Or rather, it was too simple and clear. There were only four steps: heat oil in the pan and add the potstickers; after one minute on high heat, add water; cover and simmer on low heat; steam for six minutes.
Even the water was prepared in a bowl on the stove with its own sticky note. Unless one was a total fool, anyone could follow these steps to make a delicious breakfast.
Did he intentionally choose such simple food to process? But if he really wanted convenience, buns would be easier than potstickers, right? Or did he carefully select something that shows thought without being too complex…
“Brother Nan! Brother Nan! It’s burning! It’s burning!”
Chen Xing’s shout snapped Gu Nan back to reality. Thick black smoke was billowing from the pan, and the smell of char hit him head-on.
Before he could react, Chen Xing lunged forward and nudged him aside, pouring the bowl of water into the pan. He turned down the heat, set the kitchen timer for six minutes, and finally gave Gu Nan a complicated look. “I’ll handle it.”
Gu Nan: “…I’ll go heat the milk.”
Chen Xing: “Actually, I’m fine with cold milk.”
Gu Nan: “…”
By the time Gu Nan was thoroughly banished from the kitchen by Chen Xing, Tao Zui had been dug out of bed by the moving company. After yawning his way through pointing out which items needed packing, he leisurely returned to his bedroom to wash up and change.
By the time he emerged looking presentable, the highly efficient movers had packed everything and started heading downstairs. Tao Zui followed them, hopped into the only vehicle left—his Rolls-Royce Cullinan—and headed to the dorms ahead of the crew.
Tao Zui arrived exactly at 9:00 AM. Upon entering, he found himself in a staring contest with Gu Nan and Chen Xing, who were sitting at the dining table.
The two had finished breakfast; one was reading Su Jiqiu’s textbooks, and the other was buried in homework. Not expecting Tao Zui to arrive so early, neither spoke, making the scene quite awkward.
Tao Zui didn’t mind at all. He asked directly, “Where are the other three?”
Gu Nan’s eyes flickered. “Still sleeping.”
“Fair enough, it is the weekend,” Tao Zui nodded as if it were natural. But the next second, he let out a mischievous chuckle. “Today is the last day they’ll get to sleep in.”
Before they could react, he asked, “What are you two doing?”
Chen Xing: “Homework.”
Gu Nan: “Reading.”
Tao Zui nodded and beckoned Gu Nan over. “Chen Xing, keep writing. Gu Nan, come help me move the dining table from that other unit over to this one. Put it in the living room for now.”
“The dining table?” Gu Nan was confused.
“Yeah, I have a use for the dining room over there. Alright, don’t just stand there, move!” Tao Zui snapped his fingers twice to urge him on and left, leaving the two boys stunned.
After a long moment, Gu Nan closed his book and stood up. “Keep writing. I’ll go move the table.” He wanted to see what kind of game this man was playing.
It wasn’t until boxes of clothes, a clearly expensive double-door refrigerator, and a high-end mattress arrived that Gu Nan truly realized: This guy is actually moving in! It wasn’t just for show!
He had assumed Tao Zui would just set up a room here to control them from a short distance!
“These boxes of clothes go in the living room for now; a worker is coming to install wardrobes this afternoon. Move these two boxes to my room,” Tao Zui said, pointing to two cardboard boxes.
Gu Nan looked down at the boxes, then at him, and finally resigned himself to picking them up and walking into the room they had just finished tidying last night.
The room had been completely transformed. Gone was the barren feeling. The 1.2-meter single bed had been replaced by a 1.8-meter European-style king bed. A projector screen hung on the opposite wall, a European-style side table sat by the window, an artistic floor lamp stood at the head of the bed, and an incredibly comfortable-looking bean bag chair was nestled at the foot of the bed.
Everything was either white or gold, looking extremely expensive—the quintessential simple and direct aesthetic of the nouveau riche. Because the space was small, the items were crammed together, making it look even more gaudy.
Gu Nan scanned the room and found nowhere to step. He turned back to Tao Zui. “Where do I put them?”
Tao Zui peered in and fell silent for a moment with a subtle expression. “…Put them by the door. Just hand me the stuff inside.” He moved toward Gu Nan, trying to squeeze past him into the room.
Gu Nan, holding the heavy box, couldn’t dodge in time. He had no choice but to let Tao Zui squeeze past him, their bodies pressing together as he slipped by.
The process took only two seconds, but Gu Nan could clearly feel the warmth and softness of another person’s body. This was a fresh and rare sensation in his memory; even when he had experienced such closeness in the past, it was usually accompanied by scolding or pain.
His body tensed reflexively. It wasn’t until Tao Zui’s voice drifted over that he slowly relaxed.
“OK, come here.” Tao Zui opened the wardrobe and beckoned Gu Nan over.
Gu Nan turned and set the box on the floor. When he opened it, he realized it was full of home loungewear and pajamas. From silk to pure cotton, they even came with solid wood hangers. Every set was exquisite and luxurious.
Gu Nan: “…” Why does a young master who is this meticulous from his hair to his heels insist on squeezing into a dorm?
Tao Zui waited for a while without receiving any clothes. He tilted his head to see Gu Nan holding up a pair of wine-red silk pajamas, looking them up and down with an indescribable expression.
Tao Zui went silent for a moment, then lunged forward to snatch the pajamas and hung them in the wardrobe. “What are you looking at… hurry up, next one!”
Damn it! The original owner’s taste is unbelievable! If it weren’t a waste to throw them away and a waste of money to buy new ones, I’d toss all of these into a recycling bin!
Gu Nan said nothing. He reached down to pick up another set and handed it to Tao Zui. When he turned back for the next one, his lips curled into a slight smile—So he knows those ones are flashy? His face even turned red…
With one handing and the other hanging, the two boxes were soon cleared. Tao Zui checked his watch. “It’s almost ten. They should be awake by now, right?”
Gu Nan went silent for a beat. “Probably…”
Tao Zui shot him a sidelong glance and sighed. “Forget it, let them sleep. You, come with me.”
Gu Nan frowned warily. “Where?”
“Grocery shopping! I nearly died carrying all that stuff yesterday. Aren’t you going to put in some effort?” Tao Zui walked toward the other dorm unit. “The fridge is moved over, so we can buy more today. From now on, we’ll shop about once every three or four days.”
Gu Nan followed him involuntarily, watching him push open the door and ask Chen Xing, “What do you want for lunch?”
Chen Xing’s eyes lit up. “Boiled Beef!”
Tao Zui: “You really are more obsessed the worse you are at eating it! We had that already. Let’s do Mao Xue Wang (Spicy Duck Blood Curd) today? It’s also very spicy. I remember Su Jiqiu is from Suzhou, so his palate is lighter, right? I’ll make Steamed Pork with Rice Flour, too.”
Hearing this, Gu Nan’s expression shifted slightly. Before he could process how he felt, Tao Zui suddenly turned and asked:
“What about you? Any dietary restrictions or favorite foods?”
Gu Nan froze for a second and shook his head. “No, I eat anything.”
Tao Zui laughed. “You’re quite easy to maintain. I’ll take charge of the menu then. Let’s go.”
It wasn’t until he followed Tao Zui into the Rolls-Royce Cullinan that Gu Nan realized where the problem was.
Gu Nan: “You’re driving this to buy groceries?”
Tao Zui: “Yeah, what’s wrong?”
Gu Nan: “…” What’s wrong? Even if he didn’t know much about cars, he knew this was worth millions. Driving this to buy groceries…
Seeming to guess Gu Nan’s thoughts, Tao Zui shrugged dismissively. “It’s just for getting around, don’t worry about it.”
Gu Nan was left utterly speechless.
What is wrong with this man? He thought he was a meticulous young master who lived delicately, yet he insisted on moving into a staff dorm to “suffer.” He could boss people around without a second thought, yet he carefully remembered to ask about everyone’s tastes. He didn’t look like someone who could do manual labor, yet he was surprisingly good at cooking—and it was delicious!
Even more absurdly, this person was actually willing to be their cook!
Gu Nan felt that the more he interacted with this man, the more confused he became. Tao Zui was like a ball of tangled yarn; no matter how he looked, he couldn’t find the end of the thread. He could only watch the yarn roll enticingly across the floor, completely helpless to stop it.
When the car stopped, Gu Nan’s eyes widened even further. “You’re buying groceries here?!”
Tao Zui unbuckled his seatbelt as if it were the most natural thing in the world. “Yeah. The stuff here is cheap and fresh. Didn’t you know?”
Gu Nan: “…”
Of course I know! But why do YOU know? And as a rich second-generation heir, don’t you feel something is wrong with driving a multi-million yuan car to a wet market to buy vegetables?
This person is truly… too strange!
