After Transmigrating as a Scum Alpha, a Cold Omega Stole My Heart - Chapter 5
No matter where she went, these people followed her like lingering ghosts. Cheng Lingxue looked down at the bread that had been knocked away and trampled; the chirping, noisy voices around her made her body—already uncomfortable due to her heat—feel even worse.
Suddenly, a nauseating scent enveloped her, making her body stiffen. She slowly raised her head and met a gaze filled with malice. A flash of disdain crossed her eyes; it was only a B-rank Alpha, yet he actually dared to think he could induce her heat using his pheromones.
One must know that Alphas and Omegas, aside from the mutual repulsion between the same gender, are subject to suppression of lower ranks by higher ranks. Unless the pheromone compatibility is exceptionally high, pheromones are ineffective if the rank gap is too large; in fact, the scent will even turn foul—just like it was now.
“What’s with that expression?” The Alpha youth releasing his pheromones was full of confidence. His scent was apple-flavored, a smell most Omegas found quite pleasant. Why, then, did Cheng Lingxue look so disgusted?
“…Truly nauseating… pull it back…” Her pale, thin lips parted slightly. Cheng Lingxue’s dark pupils seemed unusually deep as she stared fixedly at the Alpha and spoke slowly.
The Alpha’s heart skipped a beat, but his attention was caught by her words. He was instantly fuming with rage. To Alphas and Omegas, pheromones represent their very selves; to call them “nauseating” was a direct insult to their person.
“You’re just an Omega! Behave yourself and stay obedient under an Alpha!” Roaring, the Alpha reached out to grab her. But in the next second, he felt a sharp pain in his wrist. His body was launched into the air; the world spun as he was slammed heavily onto the ground. Due to momentum and positioning, his long legs ended up propped against the wall, leaving him in a ridiculous, inverted “L” shape.
In an instant, the atmosphere froze. Everyone stood dumbfounded, clearly not expecting such an unforeseen turn of events.
Cheng Lingxue didn’t care about these boys. She let go of the wrist she had grabbed, pulled a tissue from her pocket, and wiped her hand. Because of the contact, the smell of rotten apples lingered on her skin, giving her goosebumps. She wanted to go wash her hands immediately.
“Damn it…” The Alpha youth had never been so humiliated. Not only was it in front of his lackeys, but he had been taken down by an Omega. Both facts sent his temper through the roof. His pheromones exploded even more violently due to his rage, causing even his fellow Alpha lackeys to cover their noses and retreat several steps.
“You want to fight?” Watching the youth about to pounce, Cheng Lingxue wasn’t panicked at all. She remained calm, standing with her back straight, as if manifesting her unyielding spirit.
Cheng Lingxue’s gaze swept across everyone present before landing on a surveillance camera pointing elsewhere nearby.
“Is it because there are no cameras here that you dare to be so bold?” As she spoke, her gaze shifted to the Alpha youth, turning from flat to icy, making him shiver. “If anything happens to me, the pheromones left behind here will be ironclad evidence. Regardless of anything else, I am the adopted daughter of the Xie family. Which side do you think the teachers will take?”
These words made the Alpha youth snap out of his rage. His expression wavered between hesitation and anger. Finally, he barked at the others:
“We’re leaving.” He turned to lead them away. As he brushed past Cheng Lingxue, no one noticed what she whispered to him, but his footsteps halted abruptly.
“When you’re acting as someone’s dog, you’d better make sure you can afford to offend the target. Don’t become a discarded pawn without even knowing it.” Her cool tone should have been soothing, but the youth felt a chill reach his heart. As if realizing something, a flash of terror crossed his eyes, and he hurried his group away.
Watching them leave, Cheng Lingxue took a deep breath. Her body swayed slightly, and cold sweat broke out on her forehead. She turned, intending to leave this place filled with nauseating pheromones, but suddenly stopped and looked toward a certain spot.
“Ah… hi…” Xie Shuyun smiled awkwardly at Cheng Lingxue. When the situation looked critical, she had tried to break through the wall of branches to get across. She was only halfway through when Cheng Lingxue solved the problem herself. In her shock and haste, she tripped, getting stuck in the hole she had just crawled through—creating an embarrassing scene with her upper body on one side and the rest on the other.
Recalling that heavy slam from a moment ago, Xie Shuyun felt phantom pains all over her body. If it weren’t for her status, she felt that given the original owner’s past deeds, she would probably be a cripple by now…
Faced with this ridiculous scene, Cheng Lingxue remained unmoved. She pulled her gaze away indifferently and prepared to walk away. Xie Shuyun grew anxious; she had seen Cheng Lingxue’s body sway, and it was obvious she was unwell. She couldn’t let her just wander off.
“Wait, don’t move yet. You’re not feeling well, right? It’s better to sit on that bench and rest for a bit.”
What is she up to now… Enduring the dizziness in her head and the throbbing pain in her glands, Cheng Lingxue ignored Xie Shuyun’s call. She didn’t stop her pace; in fact, she sped up, wanting to get away from Xie Shuyun as fast as possible.
The result of speeding up was a greater load on her already weakened body. Cheng Lingxue’s vision went black. She instinctively reached for a nearby wall for support, but before she could touch it, her legs gave out, and she stumbled forward.
The expected pain didn’t come. Instead, she fell into a warm embrace. Unlike the nauseating smell of rotten apples from before, this was a faint, sweet, and crisp fragrance of fruit wine. Just like that jacket in the classroom… the scent of rum…
“I told you not to push yourself if you’re feeling unwell. You almost fell. Are you hurt?” Xie Shuyun held Cheng Lingxue and reached out to touch her cheek. Fortunately, it was only slightly warm, not as scorching as yesterday.
“..Let go..” Cheng Lingxue opened her eyes immediately, struggling to get away from Xie Shuyun. Her raspy voice was full of rejection. But how could Xie Shuyun let go? If she loosened her grip, Cheng Lingxue would likely collapse entirely.
“Alright, alright, don’t be stubborn. I’m taking you to the infirmary.” As if coaxing a child, Xie Shuyun lightly patted Cheng Lingxue’s back. Ignoring her struggles, she quickly hoisted her onto her back and strode outward. She still had to ask where the infirmary was!
The weakness in her limbs and the sensation of weightlessness made Cheng Lingxue instinctively grab the collar of the person beneath her to steady herself. Looking at Xie Shuyun’s back and her steady pace, she still didn’t dare relax. Who knew if Xie Shuyun might suddenly let go?
Feeling the person on her back stiffen, Xie Shuyun quickly spoke to soothe her:
“If you’re tired, you can lean on my back and take a nap. The infirmary shouldn’t be far; we’ll be there soon.” As she spoke, she leaned forward slightly to make it more comfortable for Cheng Lingxue to lie there.
Her long hair hung down, partially veiling Cheng Lingxue’s face and hiding the traces of complexity and annoyance surfacing there. It was unclear whether she was angry at her own failing body or at Xie Shuyun’s gentleness, which still carried an undeniable, domineering edge.
Cheng Lingxue couldn’t help herself; she opened her small mouth and bit down hard on the back of Xie Shuyun’s neck.
Hiss! Xie Shuyun gasped. The pain from her neck was both stinging and itchy, like a tiny electric current coursing through her body.
Xie Shuyun felt her throat go dry. The spot where she was bitten felt like it was on fire. Physiological tears of pain blurred her vision, and the corners of her eyes flushed a faint crimson. Her voice carried a nearly imperceptible tremor:
“You… why are you biting people… hurry and let go…” Considering the female lead’s health, Xie Shuyun suppressed the urge to drop her. She gritted her teeth against the pain and said softly:
“Um… let’s negotiate. Can you let go? I’m carrying you right now. If I lose control and drop you, it won’t be good for either of us, right?”
As if listening to her words, the jaw clamped around her neck loosened. A breath of air brushed over the wound, turning the pain into a tingling, numbing itch.
Xie Shuyun had just breathed a sigh of relief.
But in the next second, something soft and warm pressed against her neck. A hot breath swept over her skin. She turned her head in panic, catching a glimpse of the person on her back lowering her head, gently licking the wound.
Xie Shuyun’s body went rigid, a vein throbbing slightly on her forehead.
She… she was actually being licked! Licked on the neck! Xie Shuyun was in a total panic, but it wasn’t over. Cheng Lingxue’s tongue began to drift downward, toward that sensitive gland…
Is she trying to take the opportunity to bite off my gland?! At that thought, Xie Shuyun was terrified. She stopped walking and started a light jog, carrying Cheng Lingxue as she dashed forward, hoping to save her poor, fragile gland from this “misery” as quickly as possible!
The sudden movement made Cheng Lingxue grip Xie Shuyun’s clothes tightly. She looked up at the teeth marks she had left on the other’s neck, feeling a bit embarrassed and annoyed with herself for such an impulsive act.
Her gaze dropped to the gland just below the wound. A small gland, only about the size of a fingertip when not in heat, was a slight protrusion of skin. Because of her actions just now, the gland was slightly flushed and emitting a bit of pheromones—a scent that was vastly different from her memories.
Both were “Rum,” but in her memory, it was like a thick, low-quality liquid filled with impurities. A cloying fruitiness and a sharp, overwhelming alcoholic smell that followed her like a shadow, sinking into her very bones. She couldn’t get rid of it; the mere thought made her nauseous.
But the Rum now was fresh and sweet, a rich fruit fragrance followed by a lingering aftertaste. It was mellow and hauntingly pleasant, possessing an addictive quality that made one want to drown in it… This thought made Cheng Lingxue’s brows knit tight. If it was the same person, why was the scent now completely different?
In the infirmary, the Beta school doctor was leisurely eating her lunch. Now that she didn’t have to deal with those young masters and ladies who liked to fake illnesses to skip class, she felt in a very beautiful mood.
Thinking of her date tonight, she hoped this peace would continue. But just as she took a sip of soup, the door was slammed open with a bang, scaring her so much she spat the soup out.
Simultaneously, a figure rushed in like a whirlwind. The person’s eyes landed on her as if seeing a literal lifesaver:
“Is the doctor here?! I have a student who needs help!”
