After Transmigrating as a Scumbag Alpha, My Omega Underwent a Second Differentiation - Chapter 8
By the time she was discharged from the hospital, it was already close to evening.
Adding in the delay at the entrance just now, by the time Sheng Yinglan walked around the room a little and familiarized herself with the different living areas, the sky had already gone completely dark.
Perhaps because of her glandular disability disorder, Sheng Yinglan’s energy was not very good, and she had no appetite either. On top of that, the sudden transmigration had kept her mentally tense for half a day. After hastily taking a shower, she turned on the bedside lamp and lay down to sleep in the bedroom.
Half-asleep and half-awake, a wave of heat suddenly surged out from inside her body without warning. It was fierce and caught her off guard, sweeping through her entire body in an instant.
A familiar pain rose at the back of her neck. But compared with the needle-like stabbing pain from last night, there seemed to be an additional indescribable tingling numbness mixed into it.
Feeling terrible, she instinctively reached out to touch it, but only felt the gauze wrapped around it. She also tugged at the wound Yun Rong had left behind. This action was no different from scratching an itch through a boot. Not only did it fail to relieve the tingling at all, it even added a few more unbearable sensations.
This feeling was far too unfamiliar to Sheng Yinglan.
She straightened her nearly spasming fingers, trying to reach for the phone on the bedside table. She did not know whether she should go to the hospital in her current condition.
But the next second, that heatwave seemed to gather enough strength and suddenly launched an attack.
She was like a fully drawn bow that had suddenly been released, abruptly contracting. Her body curled into itself, trembling uncontrollably.
A thin layer of mist covered her black-and-white eyes. Her hands gathered around her own shoulders, and all she could do was tilt her head up, parting her small mouth with difficulty as she panted.
Because of her continuously rising body temperature, her mind became somewhat sluggish.
The secret craving rising in her heart made Sheng Yinglan’s mind unconsciously begin chewing over the feeling of being held in Yun Rong’s arms last night.
It was as though she wanted to extract that woody scent from those memories and use it to cope with the heat inside her body.
But no matter how vividly those charming scenes rampaged through her mind, the imagined scent could not break through the boundary of fantasy and actually soothe her restless body.
Her muddled, hazy eyes suddenly caught sight of a dark shadow, and a bit of clarity finally surfaced.
Before taking a shower, she had hung Yun Rong’s black suit jacket on the coat rack behind the door.
It stayed there quietly, yet somehow seemed to be silently beckoning to Sheng Yinglan.
The moment her gaze touched the black suit jacket, Sheng Yinglan finally grasped the thought she craved amid the panic in her mind.
Yun Rong’s scent.
The moment this thought flashed through her head, her body was already beyond her control. She stumbled out of bed and staggered over, hugging the clothes that emitted that tempting scent into her arms.
I’ll just hold it and smell it.
Sheng Yinglan deceived herself with this thought.
Then the last of her rationality was only enough to let her sway back onto the bed. It could not support any further thinking.
Like someone holding a priceless treasure, she carefully brought her nose close to the clothes and breathed in little by little.
Before long, a small patch on the front of the jacket had already been dampened by her breath. Finally, the faint clean woody scent slipped into her nose, and the heat in her limbs seemed to calm down slightly because of that bit of fragrance.
But only slightly.
The soothed heat was no longer satisfied with this amount. It clamored, tormented her, and wanted more.
This level of contact was clearly no longer enough. Instinctively, Sheng Yinglan shifted herself closer to the clothes and buried half her face under the lapel.
Those scent molecules seemed to follow the texture of her skin and enter Sheng Yinglan’s body.
But they did not seem to be there to soothe her. Instead, they were like provocateurs, stirring her body into chaos. Her gland also began to swell and ache, and the longing in her heart deepened.
A while later, Sheng Yinglan’s eyes had been forced into a faint redness. She gripped the suit jacket with both hands and buried her whole self inside the clothes.
Her fingers, pale from spasms, left two faint scratch marks on the suit.
Being surrounded by the woody scent like this allowed her to indulge in the fantasy that she was currently being held in Yun Rong’s arms.
Several work documents were spread across the desk.
Yun Rong’s gaze had remained on the top document for a long time, but her attention had never been on her work.
Every so often, she would unconsciously glance at the wall clock in the study, then look at her phone, which had not made a single sound.
Even though she had already taken a shower, Yun Rong still wore a black fitted high-collared T-shirt under her robe, wrapping her entire neck so tightly that not even a gap was exposed.
The gauze at the back of her neck had long since disappeared.
She wondered whether Sheng Yinglan would use the clothes she had deliberately left behind to ease herself a little.
The pheromone scent on those clothes had not been accidentally picked up. She had deliberately released it.
It should make Sheng Yinglan feel much better, right?
Should she make a call and ask about it without leaving a trace?
Yun Rong’s gaze swept over the phone again, but in the end, she still gave up on the idea.
The doctor had said that last night, Yun Rong had failed to hold back and bitten Sheng Yinglan’s gland. Although Sheng Yinglan’s gland had not fully developed yet, so it could not be called a temporary mark, the effect it had on her was no smaller than the effect of a normal Alpha completing a temporary mark on an Omega.
After all, ordinary glandular disability disorder should reject everyone’s pheromones.
But Sheng Yinglan’s body did not reject Yun Rong’s pheromones. In fact, the examination had even discovered that because of Yun Rong’s bite, Sheng Yinglan’s glandular disability symptoms were much lighter than those of a normal case.
The doctor had even proposed the possibility that Yun Rong’s pheromones might be able to cure Sheng Yinglan’s glandular disability disorder and allow her to differentiate into a normal Omega.
This was something Yun Rong had not considered at all.
Realizing that she had wasted too much attention on this issue, Yun Rong unconsciously furrowed her brows. She attributed her constant distraction over Sheng Yinglan entirely to the influence of pheromones, then refocused on her work.
The light in the study stayed on until the latter half of the night before finally dimming.
Only after Yun Rong had finished handling everything she could currently deal with did she return to the bedroom.
But if she had a choice, she did not want to sleep at all.
Nor did she want to have those messy dreams again.
She picked up the glass of red wine on the bedside table and drained it in one gulp. Then, as if waiting for some cruel punishment, she lay down on the bed.
Although she knew drinking alcohol would not really do anything, at least it could shorten the time it took for her to fall asleep. It was like shortening the waiting time before an execution.
After an unknown amount of time, the red wine seemed to finally take effect. Yun Rong’s breathing grew somewhat long and even, but her sleep was not peaceful.
The dim room was filled with a moldy smell. Only a hanging lamp in the corner swayed back and forth.
After many years, the outside of the hanging lamp had already been covered with a layer of dust. It was hazy and dim, and the little light it brought could barely illuminate the distance of a palm around it.
Under the flickering light, a section of a blanket printed with a knockoff Hello Kitty pattern was revealed.
The red blanket had been washed until it was old and faded. Half of the cat’s face could no longer be seen clearly, while the remaining half looked somewhat terrifying under the gloomy light.
Suddenly, the blanket trembled slightly.
By the faint light, one could only see that a child seemed to be buried beneath it. She seemed to have been badly frightened and could not stop trembling.
After a long while, a faint rustling sound rang out.
The blanket covering her head was lifted by a pair of small hands, revealing a pair of round eyes filled with fear and panic. Her hands tightly gripped the edge of the blanket, and her eyes stared in one direction through the darkness, as if trying to confirm something.
But before she could see anything clearly, a violent pounding suddenly sounded from the darkness.
Bang, bang, bang.
The pounding on the door was mixed with several curses.
The little girl was like a startled bird. The moment she heard the sound, she hurriedly hid her whole body back under the blanket and shifted a little farther into the corner.
As if by doing this, the person outside the door would not discover her.
Under the blanket, her large eyes were already filled with terrified tears. But those tears stubbornly clung to her eyelashes and refused to fall.
One small hand covered her mouth, afraid that even slightly louder breathing would draw the demon over.
But the shouting and curses outside grew more and more violent.
In the end, the door was smashed open.
The sounds of a woman and a man struggling rang out and were caught by the little girl.
Light had already appeared beneath the bedroom door.
The sounds were coming from there.
She stared blankly in that direction for several seconds. Then she lifted the blanket, climbed barefoot out of bed, and went down.
The lock on the bedroom door had long since broken.
Although she was extremely afraid, when she heard that the woman’s voice outside already seemed to be on the verge of death, she still gathered her courage and opened the door.
The woman was being pressed hard against the table by the man.
The leg of a broken stool fell against her body again and again.
Her eyes were already somewhat drained and weak, but when she saw the girl rush out at this moment, it was as though she had a brief burst of returning light before death.
Her fingernails dug fiercely into the table as she shouted something loudly at the girl, her face revealing an expression of terror.
But the girl was far too young to understand her mother’s warning.
She only cried and screamed as she hugged the man’s leg, sobbing and begging him not to hit her mother anymore.
But in the next second, her whole body was lifted into the air by the reeking, drunken man.
The man seemed to hate her crying very much.
Then the stick fell onto her body.
The dull pain born from tender flesh knew no reason.
At first, the girl only cried and screamed instinctively.
The woman who had been released threw herself forward again and again, trying to stop the man’s movements, but she was shoved away again and again—until her head struck the table and she fell unconscious.
The girl, who had been ordered not to cry, was now curled up on the floor, whimpering and unable to move.
Her small body was already covered in wounds.
The man seemed to think she was in the way, so he casually stuffed her into the wardrobe and threatened her, telling her to count from one to one hundred and only come out after counting five times.
The light in her vision was completely buried.
Everything around her was pitch black, and she could not see anything.
Afraid, she curled her body up.
But even the slightest movement hurt terribly.
She mechanically counted numbers under her breath, her fingernails scraping again and again against the inside of the wooden cabinet.
She did not know when this dark punishment would finally end.
