After Transmigrating As The Film Empress Sister’s Kept Alpha - Chapter 8
In the original novel’s limited description, the original Shen Yishu was an ignorant, spoiled rich heir: irritable, hot-tempered, and jealous.
Other than that, there was almost no information about her.
Shen Yishu could only assume that the original owner’s family was reasonably wealthy.
Her eldest uncle’s tone sounded warm and caring. Had something not happened the night before, Shen Yishu would have assumed this “Eldest Uncle” was merely calling to check on her.
Based on Shen Yishu’s many years of reading novels, however, she sensed that her uncle was probably connected to what happened last night.
She needed to see whether she could trick some information from him—something that might convince Ji Xiangyu.
“What happened last night?” Shen Yishu silently activated the phone’s recording function.
“You don’t remember?”
“I drank too much and was completely out of it.” Shen Yishu felt that her ability to lie with a straight face was improving rapidly. “I don’t remember anything that happened last night.”
Shen Gaozhuo frowned and exchanged a glance with his wife.
After hesitating for several seconds, he carefully said, “If you truly can’t remember, then forget it. When are you coming home for dinner?”
There was no way Shen Yishu would allow a potential explanation to slip from her grasp.
She was not foolish.
Ji Xiangyu coming to demand an answer was already the safest outcome among several possibilities.
Had Lin Luosheng or Zheng Shu come to confront her today, she would never have received this extra night to investigate.
“I think I remember a little,” Shen Yishu said, deciding to take a gamble. “Someone kept cursing beside my ear and saying what I’d done was… illegal?”
Pretending to feel troubled, she complained with considerable dissatisfaction, “How could I possibly do anything criminal?”
“That isn’t necessarily true, Xiaoshu. You’ve caused plenty of trouble before. One of my friends happened to be at the hotel where you’re filming last night. He saw you supporting an Omega into a room.”
Shen Gaozhuo continued, “My friend said the Omega didn’t look right, and she seemed somewhat familiar.”
They had finally reached the point.
Shen Yishu pretended to be greatly shocked.
“Why don’t I remember that? Who was she?”
Shen Gaozhuo deliberately kept her in suspense.
Only after hearing Shen Yishu anxiously question him did he slowly answer, “The Lin family’s youngest daughter. Her name is Lin Luosheng. Did you drug her?”
Shen Yishu lowered her eyes.
That made more sense.
This was the normal plotline from the original novel.
The original Shen Yishu was supposed to enter the same room as Lin Luosheng and record a video while Lin Luosheng was unconscious.
That was what the novel had described.
However, there were far too many suspicious details.
“I didn’t. I clearly remember returning to the hotel and falling straight asleep. How could I have been with Lin Luosheng? I hate her more than anyone.”
“You hate her, so you drugged her?” Seeing Shen Yishu becoming increasingly flustered, Shen Gaozhuo could not suppress the satisfaction in his voice.
“How could that be possible? I would never personally handle something that could stain my career,” Shen Yishu said, deliberately leaving him an opening. “Lin Luosheng belongs to the Lin family? She won’t come after me, will she?”
Shen Yishu, Shen Yishu. With this talent and acting ability, it would truly be a waste if you didn’t enter the entertainment industry.
“Xiaoshu, we’re family. You can trust your eldest uncle. Tell me the truth—were you the one who drugged her?”
“She’s only an Omega, no matter how important her family is. If she exposes this, her reputation will be ruined. What trouble do you think she could possibly create?”
Shen Yishu felt deeply disgusted.
She had developed a new and well-supported theory:
What happened last night might have had nothing to do with the original owner.
According to the original plot, the things Shen Yishu intended to do would have made her deserve her fate.
But what if someone had already manipulated her before she actually committed the crime?
The original owner’s eldest uncle was making his desire to kick Shen Yishu straight into prison far too obvious.
Shen Gaozhuo’s words plainly told her that she could use what happened last night to threaten Lin Luosheng.
At best, she could demand money.
At worst, the outcome would be either prison for Shen Yishu or a marriage alliance between the Shen and Lin families.
What kind of family was the Lin family?
The original novel had described them as follows:
“There are four discreet yet deeply established families in the capital’s elite circles. The Lin family ranks second. Their family businesses span numerous industries, and their wealth is so vast that it has become nothing more than a number. Family members are spread throughout various fields, possessing both power and influence, and their methods are ruthless.”
Lin Luosheng was the only daughter of her generation and was cherished by the entire family.
If Shen Yishu truly dared to threaten her, prison would be inevitable.
“I didn’t do it. How could I possibly dare to do something like that? I can have any Omega I want. The Lin family won’t retaliate against me, will they?”
Shen Yishu sounded utterly aggrieved.
Had they been speaking face-to-face, she might even have forced out two tears.
“Don’t be afraid, Xiaoshu. How about this—did you record any videos? Send them to me. If the Lin family causes trouble, tell them you made several backup copies. That should make them treat you more politely.”
“I didn’t. I passed out. I don’t even know what I did.”
Shen Gaozhuo appeared to mutter several curses on the other end, probably calling Shen Yishu useless.
Then he adopted a sorrowful tone.
“Xiaoshu, if that’s the case, your eldest uncle may not be able to help you. You’ll have to rely on yourself.”
Shen Yishu was about to continue acting like a desperate rich brat on the verge of tears when the other person ended the call.
Shen Yishu: “…”
Could he not handle losing?
She stopped the recording, turned off her phone, and reorganized the information.
First, Shen Gaozhuo’s knowledge matched the original plot.
Shen Yishu guessed that if the original owner had remained with Lin Luosheng last night, she would probably have become frightened after her initial excitement and called Shen Gaozhuo for help.
After asking for help, she would have received the suggestion to record a video and use it for blackmail.
Second, events had already deviated from the original plot by the time Shen Yishu opened her eyes.
That meant someone had corrected the situation and saved Lin Luosheng before anything happened—indirectly saving Shen Yishu’s life as well.
Shen Yishu suspected that person was Ji Xiangyu.
Finally, the key to solving everything was discovering who had corrected the situation and how they had done it.
She needed to find time to return to the Shen family, gather information, and investigate what kind of family they truly were.
Shen Yishu unlocked her phone again and searched through the contact list, confirming that she did not possess Ji Xiangyu’s number.
That made sense.
How could an unknown actress with no popularity whatsoever have Ji Xiangyu’s contact information?
Resignedly, she climbed from the bed and prepared to go upstairs to speak with Ji Xiangyu.
Ji Xiangyu was not foolish, and Shen Yishu did not dare try extracting information from the Best Actress Sister.
She merely wanted to let Ji Xiangyu listen to the recording.
At the very least, it would demonstrate that Shen Yishu might be innocent and earn her another two days.
She would simply need to invent another excuse for her missing memories.
Before leaving, she thought for a moment and put on a hat and mask, covering herself like a covert operative heading out at night.
After returning to her suite, Ji Xiangyu showered again and threw the clothes she had only recently changed into directly into the washing machine.
Shen Yishu’s pheromone scent clung to her entire body.
It was everywhere, entering her bloodstream through every pore and tormenting her with temptation.
She did not dislike the scent of cedarwood, nor could she claim to dislike its owner.
She merely hated herself.
She hated how difficult it was to resist the attraction of Shen Yishu’s pheromones.
Fortunately, Shen Yishu was experienced in romance and treated someone throwing herself into her arms as a common occurrence.
Had she been a more innocent Alpha, Ji Xiangyu would have struggled to explain herself.
Her hair was still wet.
She casually tied it with a headband, put on a bathrobe, and lazily curled up on the sofa to read the scenes scheduled for tomorrow.
When she returned that evening, she had encountered Lin Luosheng and Zheng Shu arguing outside the hotel.
More accurately, Lin Luosheng had been angrily accusing Zheng Shu of disregarding her wishes.
According to Lin Luosheng, she should have appeared on set and filmed normally that day.
However, on their way back to the hotel, Lin Luosheng fell asleep from exhaustion.
Zheng Shu changed their route at the last moment and returned to the hotel where she herself was staying.
Only after arriving did she call Ji Xiangyu for help.
Zheng Shu wanted Lin Luosheng to rest for another day.
Ji Xiangyu agreed, treating it as the condition for Zheng Shu allowing her several days to protect Shen Yishu.
Early that morning, Ji Xiangyu had called the director.
The director temporarily adjusted the filming schedule and moved a scene originally planned for the following day forward to today.
When Lin Luosheng woke in the morning, she had a huge argument with Zheng Shu.
However, it took too long to travel back from the other hotel.
By the time she returned, most of that day’s scenes had already been completed.
Once she reached the hotel, she threw herself into Ji Xiangyu’s arms and cried bitterly.
She was not crying because she had missed filming.
She cried because, due to her, Ji Xiangyu had been forced to film in the rain during her heat.
Between sobs, she told Ji Xiangyu that she hated Zheng Shu more than anyone.
Ji Xiangyu could only pat her shoulder and explain that Zheng Shu had known nothing.
That night, Lin Luosheng had not been drugged.
Her heat cycle was simply irregular, and the unexpected visitor had arrived without warning.
The suppressant Ji Xiangyu carried was unsuitable for Lin Luosheng.
Ji Xiangyu herself had also been unable to move, leaving her no choice but to contact Zheng Shu and ask her to take Lin Luosheng away.
By the time Zheng Shu arrived, Ji Xiangyu’s newly injected suppressant had already taken effect.
With Lin Luosheng’s overwhelming pheromones filling the room, it was perfectly normal that Zheng Shu failed to notice Ji Xiangyu’s.
No matter how Ji Xiangyu explained it, Lin Luosheng refused to listen.
She continued crying while cursing Zheng Shu for being an awful person.
From beginning to end, she never mentioned Shen Yishu even once, as though she had no idea what had truly happened the night before.
Ji Xiangyu found it increasingly difficult to focus on the script.
She tossed it aside and decided to dry her hair before going to sleep.
Knock, knock, knock.
She raised her eyes and walked over in confusion.
Keeping the security chain attached, she opened the door.
Beneath the brim of a baseball cap, Shen Yishu’s eyes shone brightly.
Her long hair rested across her shoulders, and a mask covered most of her face. Even so, Ji Xiangyu could practically see her excited expression.
“What is it?”
Ji Xiangyu caught the faint scent of Shen Yishu’s pheromones.
It had nearly disappeared completely. Had there not been a mark connecting them, she would not have noticed it.
“I’ve found a lead about what happened!”
Ji Xiangyu glanced down at the newly changed bathrobe she was wearing.
She had a feeling she would once again be sleeping with Shen Yishu’s pheromone scent clinging to her that night.
She removed the security chain and prepared to let Shen Yishu inside.
Suddenly, something appeared in the corner of her vision.
She retreated two steps.
Shen Yishu entered and instinctively pushed the door closed.
“Don’t close it,” Ji Xiangyu warned.
Bang.
The lock automatically clicked shut.
Shen Yishu: “…”
By the time Ji Xiangyu spoke, Shen Yishu had already pushed the door, leaving no time to stop it.
“What’s wrong with closing the door?” Shen Yishu asked, still confused.
“I think I saw paparazzi.”
Shen Yishu: “?”
Ten thousand tabloid headlines immediately flashed through her mind.
“Famous Best Actress Secretly Meets Unknown Nobody.”
“Alpha Best Actress Summons Door-to-Door Services.”
“Workplace Bullying or Junior Actress’s Forbidden Desire? Click to Discover the Truth.”
She immediately became nervous.
Moving closer to Ji Xiangyu, she whispered, “They won’t guess you’re an Omega, will they?”
Ji Xiangyu answered with an ambiguous smile.
“They’ll only write that I have unusual tastes and enjoy Alpha–Alpha relationships.”
