After Transmigrating for the Third Time, the Real Young Master Decides to Slouch - Chapter 7
Lin Tang paced outside Class 19, Grade 11. He didn’t dare get too close; that place was filled with terrifying people.
He couldn’t understand why Lu She would follow Jiang Tong and transfer to that class.
Thinking of Jiang Tong made Lin Tang grit his teeth. He couldn’t fathom what that “commoner” had that attracted Lu She. Lu She was close to him, Lu She protected him, and Lu She only ever smiled at him.
Initially, when he heard Jiang Tong was transferring to the “Trash Concentration Camp,” he had cheered and clapped—trash belonged with trash. But today, when he excitedly arrived at his own class intended to tell Lu She that he would be his new desk-mate, he was informed by his head teacher with regret that Lu She had proactively requested to move to Class 19.
Lin Tang found it unacceptable. He felt Lu She must have been bewitched by Jiang Tong, and he had to pull Lu She back from the wrong path.
They were the ones who belonged in the same world.
He wanted to get away and find Lu She earlier, but class duties and Student Council matters held him back until now. Fortunately, the class meeting for Class 19 hadn’t ended yet. He would wait here until Lu She came out.
He waited and waited, unable to sit still. Why isn’t it over? Why hasn’t Lu She come out? Suddenly, a massive blast of music erupted from the Class 19 classroom, startling him. What is going on?
Unable to resist his curiosity, Lin Tang quietly and slowly approached the classroom, hoping to get a distant glimpse of the situation. Then, his gaze was caught by the person on the podium.
He looked a bit familiar. Who was it?
Lin Tang shuddered—it was Jiang Zao. He had cut his bangs and put on glasses!
How could Jiang Zao be here? Right, Class 19 had a new head teacher, and he’d heard the surname was Jiang. It was actually Jiang Zao?
Wasn’t he preparing for an exam? Why did he run off to be a teacher? How did he even get the job?
A swarm of questions swirled in his head. Lin Tang scratched his hair and gave up thinking. Anyway, as the head teacher of the “trash class,” he’d probably be picked clean to the bone within two months. Those two impoverished brothers deserved it for insisting on staying in a place where they didn’t belong.
But not Lu She. Lu She had to leave that demon’s den!
Lin Tang clenched his hands. He would go find Jiang Zao. As long as Jiang Zao, the head teacher, agreed, Lu She could come back.
Lin Tang’s previously anxious heart finally settled. He wasn’t entirely sure he could convince Lu She, but he could definitely convince Jiang Zao. Hadn’t that weakling always wanted to curry favor with him? He’d give him a chance this time—Jiang Zao should be grateful.
Thinking of Lu She returning to be his desk-mate and spending every day together, Lin Tang couldn’t help but feel giddy.
Hurry up and end. Why isn’t it over? Jiang Zao, you talk way too much!
Amidst Lin Tang’s grumbling, he finally saw a ray of hope—the students of Class 19 were getting up.
Was it over? Were they leaving?
Unfortunately, no. They were moving desks and dragging chairs—they were actually changing seats.
Lin Tang’s eyes widened. They’re actually changing seats? He had heard that the “trash class” was always every-man-for-himself; those with good relationships sat together, with no layout or order whatsoever. It was a free-for-all that would drive a perfectionist crazy. The previous head teacher had tried to arrange seats at first, but with no cooperation, he had to give up and let them grow wild.
What did Jiang Zao do to make them so obedient?
No way. Since when did Jiang Zao have such ability?
But whatever, forget it. As long as Lu She came back, it didn’t matter if they arranged themselves in the shape of a line or a triangle.
Lin Tang’s gaze searched through the crowd. Suddenly, his eyes lit up—he saw Lu She!
But then he gritted his teeth again; he also saw Jiang Tong. They were sitting together again!
It must have been Jiang Tong who demanded Jiang Zao do this. Those brothers are so calculating!
No. Immediately! Right now! He had to separate them!
While Lin Tang was gnashing his teeth in resentment, Class 19 finished rearranging. Jiang Zao seemed to say something, and everyone stood up. Lin Tang didn’t celebrate too early; what if they changed seats again?
It wasn’t until people started walking out of the classroom that Lin Tang confirmed the meeting was finally over. He quickly hid behind a pillar; he didn’t dare have any contact with that group of reckless and shameless people.
As people passed by, Lin Tang heard their conversation.
“Damn, what kind of spell was I under? I actually listened to him and moved seats.”
“Yeah, it’s so damn weird. If it were anyone else, I wouldn’t give a damn. But as soon as he spoke, I felt like I had to do it.”
“Maybe he knows sorcery?”
“Hahaha, likely. Tomorrow I’ll bring some chopsticks and squeeze his fingers!”
“We’ll worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Let’s go, time to fight in the Nether Gorge!”
Once most of the people had left, Lin Tang emerged from behind the pillar. He was utterly confused. Were they talking about Jiang Zao? Jiang Zao is that impressive, making them all behave?
Wait, where was Lu She?
Lin Tang looked back into the classroom. Only Jiang Zao was inside, packing up. He looked back at the departing crowd; Lu She and Jiang Tong were among them.
“Lu—” Lin Tang quickly covered his mouth. He should wait until Lu She was alone to find him. For now, he needed to seize the time to settle Jiang Zao.
Lin Tang took a deep breath, puffed out his chest, and walked toward the Class 19 classroom.
Jiang Zao was shutting down the computer when he heard footsteps. He looked up. “Did you forget something?”
Recognizing the person, Jiang Zao greeted him calmly, “Oh, it’s you. Haven’t gone back yet?”
Lin Tang looked at him with some hesitation. He felt that Jiang Zao’s aura had changed; he no longer seemed timid, but he didn’t have a sharp, dangerous edge either. Instead, he had a sort of flowing composure, appearing completely at ease.
Seeing him remain silent, Jiang Zao asked, “Is something wrong?”
“Yes.” Lin Tang suppressed his stray thoughts. He was here for business; it didn’t matter how Jiang Zao was doing.
“What is it?” Jiang Zao put the whiteboard marker back in its place. He needed to leave; if he was any later, a certain troublesome person would start crying and complaining again. He needed a quick resolution.
Coincidentally, Lin Tang didn’t feel like wasting words either, so he got straight to the point: “I want you to give Lu She back.”
“Back?” Jiang Zao sounded intrigued. “In what sense?”
Lin Tang felt that he was playing dumb, and his patience snapped. “It means you go to the school and say your class doesn’t want Lu She, so he can transfer back to his original class!”
“Oh.” Jiang Zao nodded. I see. That’s how you want to play it.
This wasn’t the answer Lin Tang wanted. He grew anxious. “Just an ‘oh’?”
“What else?” Jiang Zao asked, somewhat puzzled.
Lin Tang slapped the desk in front of him. He hit it too hard and let out a hiss of pain. Enduring the sting, he said, “Are you agreeing or not?”
“I could agree,” Jiang Zao said.
Lin Tang was happy. As expected, Jiang Zao was easy to handle.
Then Jiang Zao shifted his tone: “While I could agree, why would I do something so thankless and troublesome?”
“Huh?” The shift came too fast. Lin Tang didn’t react in time and stared at him blankly.
“Lu She requested the transfer himself. He did it voluntarily; no one forced him. Since that’s the case, why should I do something unnecessary?” Jiang Zao gave a slight smile. “Besides, his grades are so good. Keeping him in my class to pull up the average score is quite nice. Between benefit and harm, anyone would know which to choose.”
Lin Tang was furious. “How can you be so selfish? You’re keeping Lu She here just to pull up your average? How do you have the nerve? Your ‘trash class’ isn’t worthy of Lu She, okay? Have some self-awareness!”
Jiang Zao’s expression turned cold. “Watch your language.”
Lin Tang snorted, his expression arrogant. “I can’t.”
“Then we have nothing left to talk about.” Jiang Zao picked up the roster. “Excuse me. Stay if you like, just remember to close the door when you leave.”
Seeing the person about to leave before his goal was met, Lin Tang quickly reached out an arm to block Jiang Zao. “Who said you could leave—”
the rest of his words froze in his throat. Lin Tang felt a chill run through his body. He saw Jiang Zao’s eyes—they weren’t inherently scary, so why did they make him want to tremble from the bottom of his heart? It was as if Jiang Zao were standing above his soul, looking down from a completely different level of existence.
“Can you move?” Jiang Zao asked with a smile.
Lin Tang silently took a step back, clearing the path.
Jiang Zao walked out of the classroom.
Coming to his senses, Lin Tang chased after him. No, his goal wasn’t met; he couldn’t let him go!
But he didn’t dare block him this time. He chased behind Jiang Zao. “You can’t keep Lu She in your class for your own selfish gain! Don’t you know what kind of class this is? Lu She will be ruined if he stays here!”
“Oh?” Jiang Zao asked with interest. “What kind of class? I really don’t know. Tell me about it.”
Thinking certain things or saying them in private is one thing, but saying them to someone’s face—especially on Class 19’s territory—made Lin Tang a bit guilty and a bit terrified. He was afraid this was a trap set by Jiang Zao; if he spoke ill of them, the students of Class 19 might suddenly pop out and beat him up.
But the desire to save Lu She prevailed. Seeing no one around, Lin Tang steeled himself and said, “The people in this class are the absolute worst in the whole school. Every single one is ignorant, skips class, gets into fights—there’s nothing they won’t do. There’s zero study atmosphere here. Lu She is first in the grade; how is he supposed to study in peace in an environment like this!”
Jiang Zao burst out laughing.
“What are you laughing at?” Lin Tang glared at him.
Jiang Zao shook his head. “I’m laughing because you don’t understand the world of geniuses.”
“You!” Lin Tang was speechless. He wanted to ask “Do you understand?”, but luckily he remembered just in time that if they were talking purely about grades, this person really was a genius.
Jiang Zao looked at him with pity. “Little boy, instead of meddling in the business of geniuses, you should focus on yourself. Improving yourself is what’s most important.”
Lin Tang watched Jiang Zao’s departing back, feeling a wave of grievance. Everything was a mess—why couldn’t he control Jiang Zao anymore? It shouldn’t be like this.
Biting his lip, Lin Tang decided to use his final trump card. He sniffled and shouted, “Brother…”
Jiang Zao stopped.
Lin Tang was overjoyed and was about to press his advantage when Jiang Zao turned around and asked, “Are you calling me?”
Lin Tang nodded frantically. “Yes, Brother—”
Jiang Zao interrupted him: “Who is your brother? Don’t just call people that.”
Lin Tang froze. Those words sounded incredibly familiar.
“Also, since you’re so obsessed, I’ll let you in on something.” Jiang Zao chuckled. “Lu She’s transfer happened because he went to find Rong Jingcheng, and Rong Jingcheng approved it.”
Lin Tang’s eyes widened. Rong Jingcheng… approved it?
In a flash of realization, he understood something. No wonder the head teacher let Lu She go even though he was reluctant—it was because Rong Jingcheng had approved it. No one dared to defy a decision made by Rong Jingcheng.
“If you want him to transfer back, I don’t have the final say. You should go find Rong Jingcheng.”
Leaving that final sentence, Jiang Zao walked away for good.
Lin Tang found it a bit hard to breathe. A person as high and mighty as Rong Jingcheng… Jiang Zao wanted him to go find him? How was that possible!
Even though the other party was a school director, he was just an insignificant student. The Lin family’s status was nothing compared to the Rong family. Without a superior family background or the halo of being first in the grade, it was impossible to see him easily.
Wait, there’s also Brother Lin Ran!
Brother Lin Ran had joined the Blue Sound Orchestra, and Rong Jingcheng often collaborated with them. Brother Lin Ran would have a chance to see Rong Jingcheng!
As if seeing a light in the darkness, Lin Tang took out his phone.
