After Transmigrating into a Book, I Turned the Straight Bigshot Gay (BL) - Chapter 22
In the stairwell on the first floor of Building 13, Xie Yunshen shed his white top. It was a reversible style; flipping it inside out and zipping it up revealed a black hoodie.
Yi Wuyi also stood up from the wheelchair, tearing off the plaster casts and bandages. They were currently in a surveillance blind spot in the stairwell.
“Yang Zhongxu will definitely take the VIP elevator. With the monitoring equipment, the elevator can only hold ten people at most. Subtracting Shangguan Hong, Lin Jin, and a nurse, that leaves a maximum of six experts. The live stream host and the reporters will take a separate regular elevator to the first floor.”
“The elevator is when the protection around Yang Zhongxu is at its weakest. If the other Top Star Sect members want to get down, they’ll have to take the stairs or wait for the next lift.”
“I’ve calculated it. One trip down takes 32 seconds. Round trip is 64 seconds. After 64 seconds, the rest of the Sect will reach the first floor. So, we only have about one minute.”
Yi Wuyi, now in a crisp white shirt, leaned against the stair railing watching the live stream on his phone. He saw the comments section calling Yang Zhongxu the “Cutest Grandpa” and the “National Grandpa.”
“National Grandpa?” Yi Wuyi muttered.
“Yang Zhongxu would probably laugh himself silly if he knew. The people calling him ‘Grandpa’ are essentially the mobile organ banks he uses to make money,” Xie Yunshen remarked.
Standing behind him, dressed entirely in black, Xie Yunshen used the gauze Yi Wuyi had discarded to fashion anti-friction finger guards for himself.
Everyone believed Yang Zhongxu was a good man, a philanthropist. Everyone was praying for the success of the treatment, and terminal cancer patients worldwide were waiting for the results. If they forcefully interrupted the treatment, it would surely alert the authorities. Therefore, letting the treatment finish perfectly actually avoided a lot of trouble.
The treatment lasted two hours. The afternoon sun made everyone feel drowsy.
In the live broadcast, after Lin Jin finished the treatment, the physical check-up was performed on the spot. The results showed that the cancer cells had been suppressed; while not a complete cure, the effect was comparable to a month of chemotherapy—but without any of the side effects.
The comments section exploded in wonder. Lin Jin became famous overnight, becoming a renowned “Divine Doctor” in Country A.
When Yang Zhongxu saw the results, he could barely suppress the smirk at the corner of his mouth and the ambition in his eyes. Shangguan Hong, acting like a devoted son, personally helped him into his wheelchair, draped a coat over him, and pushed him out of the treatment room. Several lethal-looking men followed closely behind.
In the corridor, a reporter followed them for an interview: “Mr. Yang, the netizens are all sending their blessings, wishing you a healthy recovery.”
“I thank the Divine Doctor Lin Jin, the netizens, and the companies in the Southern Province—Zhu, Bai, Chen, and Huang—for their concern. Though I, Yang Zhongxu, am old, I am glad that the Heavens do not want to take me yet.”
People in the comments began to discuss why the Yan family hadn’t shown up. Of the Five Families in the Chamber of Commerce, the other four were present, but the Yan family hadn’t offered a single greeting or gesture.
The reporter immediately followed up: “The Yan Group did not send anyone to offer condolences. Does this relate to the stance of the new Chairman, Yan Shiqi? We’ve heard that for the next Financial Investment Summit, the Yan Group might not even be on the Chamber’s list?”
Yang Zhongxu smiled. “Eligibility for the Financial Summit is a reflection of a company’s own strength; it has nothing to do with external factors.”
Lin Jin, having witnessed the tribute-giving of the four families earlier, naturally understood the intent behind Yang Zhongxu’s words. If he hadn’t listened to Xie Yunshen’s warning first, he probably would have been deceived by this old thing’s appearance. Thinking of this, he felt a chill down his spine.
Just then, the elevator arrived. Lin Jin followed them inside. Several men in suits stood tactfully in front of the elevator exit. Lin Jin frowned, looking at Shangguan Hong beside him.
The media and reporters took another elevator. Other subordinates had to remain at the door, waiting for the next trip.
Lin Jin stared silently at the jumping numbers on the elevator display. He figured that fellow Xie Yunshen had probably chickened out. Xie Yunshen, you sure know how to play the retreat drum.
The elevator stopped on the third floor. To maintain his “man of the people” image, Yang Zhongxu hadn’t ordered the hospital to be cleared, so it was normal for someone to call the elevator. At first, no one paid much attention.
The doors opened, and a man in black clothes wearing a black mask appeared at the entrance.
One of the guards spoke: “Please take the next one.”
The figure kept his head down and pushed the guard aside with one hand. The man was shoved aside like he was made of paper. Another guard reached out to grab his shoulder, only for the intruder to counter-lock his elbow at an incredibly sharp angle—two crisp cracks followed. One was the sound of an arm being twisted and broken; the other was the sound of a kneecap being shattered by a kick.
The man screamed and fell backward, caught by Qing Ao. Qing Ao’s long, gibbon-like arms immediately struck out toward the intruder’s throat and heart. He was fast, but the opponent was faster. The intruder didn’t dodge; he swiveled his hand, his wrist moving like a snake along the arm to strike Qing Ao’s shoulder instantly.
Qing Ao saw the move coming, but because the opponent was too fast, his body had no time to react. This sense of pressure was so familiar.
Not only that, the intruder’s right knee had already deflected an attack from the right, while his left elbow smashed the jaw of the man on the left. In just a few seconds, he had traded several blows with Qing Ao and injured four other men in succession.
Lin Jin watched with furrowed brows. Dammit, is this guy Xie Yunshen? Remembering their clash at the Yan residence, he’d been able to go back and forth with Xie Yunshen. Now, Xie was fighting a group and single-handedly crushing Qing Ao. It was illogical. Of course, it helped that the elevator was cramped and Yang Zhongxu’s men couldn’t maneuver properly.
Shangguan Hong also realized the only way to break the deadlock was to leave the narrow space. His face turned grim as he shouted: “Force him out of the elevator!”
However, the weird thing was that his men were being pushed out of the elevator one by one by the intruder using clever leverage. The man in black stood at the entrance, his lower body as steady as a rock. The doors opened and closed repeatedly, unable to shut. The subordinates who were pushed out also vanished—there were more of them outside!
Realizing this, Shangguan Hong tried to pull out his phone, but he was struck by a flying subordinate, and the phone clattered to the floor. Finally, only Qing Ao was left fighting on their side. Even so, he only lasted ten seconds before being struck in the chest, grabbed by the scalp, and thrown out of the elevator by sheer brute force.
Yang Zhongxu sat in his wheelchair, his gaze sinister, his expression dark. The thrown-out Qing Ao tried to turn back, only to find the doors had closed.
Qing Ao was incredulous: “Mr. Shangguan!”
Shangguan Hong and Yang Zhongxu had both been abducted by the mysterious man! Who exactly was this guy?!
The voice of his companions came through his earpiece: “Qing Ao! What happened?”
Before Qing Ao could speak, he was knocked unconscious from behind. Outside the elevator, several other men lay fainted on the ground. Yi Wuyi, wearing a mask, pressed the button for an empty elevator and headed up.
Five seconds earlier, the reporters had stepped out of their elevator and prepared to wait for Yang Zhongxu to exit the VIP lift, only to find it had stopped on the third floor for a moment before ascending to the top floor.
“What’s going on?”
“Did Mr. Yang come down?”
“No. We’ve been waiting here.”
While everyone was confused, a piercing alarm sounded. It was the smoke detector. People and medical staff from Building 13 began to flee via the stairwells. A massive tide of people poured down. At this moment, the Top Star Sect members tried to fight their way up but were completely blocked by the crowd on the stairs.
By the time they reached the top floor, the culprits had long since vanished. Only Lin Jin and a terrified nurse remained. Shangguan Hong and Yang Zhongxu were gone.
Qing Ao closed his eyes, feeling like his world had ended. “Notify the Young Master.”
At the same time, at the hospital gates, patients and families were scattered everywhere. Two men pushed a patient in a wheelchair to the underground garage and into a car. In the chaotic flow of traffic, they drove away.
Yang Zhongxu sat in the back, his face a mask of humiliation. He stared darkly at the two men in front. “Who are you?”
Yang Zhongxu prided himself on a life spent navigating both the light and dark sides of the law. Even illness had lost to him, yet he never expected to fall like this today. And there were only two of them—young men, by the look of their builds.
The fact that they hadn’t covered his eyes was terrifying. When an enemy no longer feels the need to hide the route from you, it means in their eyes, you are a dead man.
“Ten billion. Is that enough?” Seeing they wouldn’t talk, Yang Zhongxu spoke again. He only received a disdainful scoff in response. “Or do you have other demands?”
Still, no one answered.
Yang Zhongxu smiled. “Children, I can give you the ultimate wealth and glory. With your skills, isn’t it a waste to be doing this?”
Still no response. Killing intent appeared in Yang Zhongxu’s aged eyes.
The car splashed through a puddle. They were at the edge of the suburbs, essentially out of the Top Star Sect’s surveillance range. Yi Wuyi had swapped cars twice mid-journey; they had clearly simulated everything on this route. Finally, the car stopped at a cluster of old suburban houses.
“Here is fine.”
“What do you plan to do?” Yi Wuyi asked.
“Live stream. After the stream, I hope the police can convict him.”
“Live stream what?”
“Confessions.”
Yi Wuyi: “That’s so sexy.”
“?” Old Five is using words wrong again.
“Most people are currently blinded by Yang Zhongxu. If we don’t do this, no one will believe us,” Xie Yunshen’s footsteps sounded exceptionally clear in the ancient night wind. He took out the recording equipment he’d had Yi Wuyi prepare. It was a phone; although the signal could be traced to a base station, it would take some time to determine the exact location.
“Let’s move fast. The Top Star Sect will find this place soon.”
Elsewhere, the Top Star Sect was sending out waves of patrols. Motorcycles were everywhere, dense like the blood vessels of the city.
A lean man in a hoodie walked up to a car window. The man inside respectfully rolled it down.
“No clues yet?” the man asked.
“Find them. Don’t damage his bones; I want to deal with him personally.”
“Yes.” The man inside was startled; it seemed the Young Master was truly furious.
Then again, in all these years, who had dared to provoke the Top Star Sect like this? No one knew Yang Zhongxu was an Elder of the Group, but the Sect was skilled at masquerading. Through legal financial investments, they controlled much of the Southern Province’s economy. Shangguan Hong was effectively a General Manager; targeting him was targeting the Sect itself.
Just then, another man in the car gasped: “Wait! Look, the mysterious person has started a live stream!”
