After Transmigrating into a Book, I Turned the Straight Bigshot Gay (BL) - Chapter 29
Xie Yunshen acted with lightning speed, pulling all the bedroom curtains shut.
Yan Shiqi hadn’t told him that the windows in this room were equipped with specialized one-way glass; people outside couldn’t see in. Xie Yunshen cautiously inspected every electronic device and cabinet to ensure everything was normal. From the early hours of yesterday until now, he had been busy for an entire day before finally deciding to shower.
Before heading into the bathroom, he gave Yan Shiqi a solemn instruction: “Do not leave the bedroom. No matter who comes, do not open the door.”
Yan Shiqi didn’t agree; strictly speaking, he just looked at him and remained silent.
The Bigshot was clearly in a rebellious phase.
“If you don’t promise me, I’ll have to shower with the door open,” Xie Yunshen said with an air of righteousness—it wasn’t a threat, but a notice.
Yan Shiqi finally spoke: “Why?”
“Because I don’t feel safe leaving you alone in a space, so I have to watch you while I shower.” He didn’t even feel there was anything wrong with this logic.
“Then keep it open,” Yan Shiqi replied, a natural master of control.
“Fine. If you feel like it’s an eyesore, you can just turn around,” Xie Yunshen said with his superlative lack of sensitivity. He looked back at the shower door to confirm he could see Yan Shiqi’s position from there. As he spoke, he stepped into the bathroom cubicle.
Once inside the private zone of the bathroom, Xie Yunshen paused with a delayed realization that the situation was a bit bizarre. He looked back and saw Yan Shiqi sitting on the sofa, legs crossed, one hand on his knee and the other on the armrest, looking like a nobleman with a tragic backstory in a Western oil painting.
Xie Yunshen instinctively pushed the frosted glass door closed a bit further.
“No, I won’t be able to see you then,” Yan Shiqi said bluntly, giving him no way out.
“The main thing is, I don’t know if I should face you or have my back to you. Why don’t you just turn your head away?”
Yan Shiqi continued to stare intently without moving: “Either is fine.”
“…” Am I watching you, or are you watching me? “Whatever you like.”
Everyone was a man anyway.
Xie Yunshen shrugged and casually pulled off his pullover hoodie, revealing a lean, powerful back. When his arms moved, the definition of his muscles was breathtaking. Just as he was about to unbutton his trousers, he noticed Yan Shiqi had moved to the bathroom door. Gripping the handle, Yan Shiqi’s piercing gaze fixed on his face.
“I promise you, I won’t go out.”
Before Xie could react, the bathroom door slammed shut, leaving a faint echo.
Xie Yunshen grumbled to himself, “Let’s see you try to be rebellious again.”
Xie Yunshen had been in the shower for less than two minutes when the doorbell rang. A man in a vest appeared on the video intercom: “Sir, I am your private butler. I’m here to deliver the wine you ordered.”
“Leave it in the dining room and you may go,” Yan Shiqi said without getting up.
“Understood.”
the hotel butler pushed the dining cart into the room, setting out the wine glasses and gourmet food. Upon leaving, he placed a strip of special adhesive tape over the door’s latch, jamming it. From both the inside and outside, it looked as though the door was locked.
In a skyscraper two blocks away, a bald man stood before a floor-to-ceiling window.
“Kill Yi Wuyi and Xie Yunshen. The others are no threat.”
A voice came through his headset: “Are you sure Xie Yunshen is an amateur? He spotted me today.”
“You said… he spotted you?” The bald man narrowed his eyes.
“That’s right. Among thousands of workers, he noticed me immediately. I’m certain his professionalism is on par with an international-level Gold Medal Bodyguard.”
“Yan Shiqi has only ever had Yi Wuyi as a master. Xie Yunshen is just a waste raised by the Yan family, not even as good as the security firm guards. Since when is he equal to a Gold Medal Bodyguard?”
“Then your intel was wrong, Baldy.”
“Then kill Yan Shiqi first! His bounty is higher.”
The voice on the other end flared up: “Dammit, Baldy, are you stupid? Yi Wuyi, Yan Shiqi—they’re all with that man! All of them! Does it matter who dies first?”
The bald man sneered: “People who fear death can’t be assassins. In that regard, you’ll never compare to Yi Wuyi.”
The person on the other end was provoked by the taunt but remained silent.
The bald man looked behind him. In the luxury living room sat an old man in a wheelchair, his neck tilted. Although he couldn’t speak, his gaze was ruthless. His trembling hand pointed at two portraits on the wall—Yi Wuyi and Xie Yunshen.
This man was Yang Zhongxu, who had recently been reported dead in the hospital. Half of his body was paralyzed, yet his finger kept pointing at the two in the portraits. A man in a hoodie sat to the side, his face obscured.
The bald man mused, “Perhaps. But we’ve already taken the deposit from the Top Star Sect. No matter who they are, they must die.”
The phone on the table rang. Yan Shiqi picked it up. It was the engineering department, reporting that the explosives had been planted early on by two workers. The motive was still under investigation. They wanted Mr. Yan to go to the local police station tomorrow morning to give a statement. They undoubtedly wanted to know how Yan Shiqi had known about the explosives.
Yan Shiqi stood up and noticed several fine lines stretched across the bedroom door, cross-connecting. Xie Yunshen had set up a subtle trap; any intrusion from the outside would trigger it. Of course, if Yan Shiqi tried to leave, the alarm would also go off.
He’s treating me like a precious treasure.
Yan Shiqi’s anxious expression softened. He sat back on the sofa, fingers pressed against his silent lips.
Xie Yunshen finished his shower quickly, changed into the hotel loungewear, and came out drying his hair with a towel. Seeing Yan Shiqi still sitting on the sofa, he let out a sigh of relief.
“Dry your hair properly before coming out,” Yan Shiqi said, noticing a drop of water fall from Xie’s hair and soak into his collar.
Xie Yunshen checked the trap at the door and smiled with satisfaction. “Mr. Yan, I’ll get your wine.” He had clearly heard the butler earlier while in the shower.
Xie Yunshen picked up the bottle, confirmed it was safe, and brought a single glass into the bedroom. He didn’t touch anything else. He placed the glass on the table. Yan Shiqi poured himself a drink. Xie Yunshen rarely saw him drink unless it was for social obligations.
Yan Shiqi took two sips.
“What’s bothering you exactly?”
Yan Shiqi didn’t say, but Xie Yunshen knew he must be troubled to be drinking.
Yan Shiqi said, “Drinking helps with sleep.”
“What?” Xie Yunshen gave him a resentful look. He felt like his powerball efforts had been deeply backstabbed.
Seeing his expression, a rare smile appeared in Yan Shiqi’s eyes.
“Go to sleep early, Mr. Yan,” Xie Yunshen’s voice drifted into the dark night as the city lights began to fade.
In the middle of the night, there was a tiny click, no louder than a mosquito’s buzz.
Using the pre-applied tape, two figures easily pushed open the suite door, creating a crack in the darkness. Inside the suite, outside Yan Shiqi’s bedroom, two professional guards from the security firm were still on duty. Before they could react, sharp objects pierced their throats. They collapsed heavily to the ground.
The two assassins entered the living room of the suite and exchanged a look. One gestured for the man on the left to go kill Yi Wuyi in the side bedroom.
A voice came through the headset: “Kill Xie Yunshen first, then focus on Yi Wuyi. Yi Wuyi is too difficult to handle. Of course, if you can kill Yan Shiqi in passing, we get triple the bounty. But the client’s instruction is: kill Xie Yunshen first.”
The two assassins changed course toward the master bedroom. One of the men was the same one who had been at the construction site earlier. He harbored some wariness toward Xie Yunshen. Consequently, he slowed his pace.
The master bedroom door opened easily. The lead assassin pushed it open first. He took a slow step into the room.
Suddenly, the assassin’s body jerked violently. He let out a low cry as hot blood sprayed onto the face of the man behind him. The second man retreated instantly, his eyes narrowing to see.
In the darkness, bloodstains had been sliced into the neck and arms of the lead assassin by the fine wires. Although his reactions were fast and he was decisive enough to risk a severed arm to wrench himself away from the wires at his neck, he had narrowly avoided decapitation. Blood pooled on the floor, and the tendons in his hand were severed.
The assassin tried to escape the wire array, but because his legs were also entangled, he couldn’t break free. He collapsed at the door, crying out in pain to his partner. “Save me!”
“If you move again, the tendons in your hands and feet will be completely severed,” a voice rang out in the darkness.
Simultaneously, the lights flickered on. A figure stood at the door. The man looked closely and saw several fine wires arranged at the entrance. The moment the door was pushed, the mechanism triggered, and the wires were violently tightened by a motorized device.
Even a bull would be sliced apart. What a cruel wire trap!
The assassin looked at the young man before him. Who is this guy? Even scarier than a BKB pro. A terrifying thought flashed through the man’s mind.
Xie Yunshen stepped toward him, a roundhouse kick carrying staggering force.
So fast! The man narrowly dodged the first move but couldn’t avoid the second, taking a kick to the side. The man was horrified; the kid’s power and ruthlessness were completely at odds with his relaxed appearance. He wanted to fight for his life, but he soon realized he had no chance.
He couldn’t stay here! The bald man had completely misjudged the situation. Why on earth did they decide to go after Xie Yunshen first? Going after Yi Wuyi would have offered a better chance of survival!
The bald man’s voice came through the headset: “Lao Qu, what’s the situation?”
Lao Qu couldn’t spare the breath to answer. He used every technique and ounce of strength he possessed just to barely parry Xie Yunshen’s chain of attacks. At the critical moment, he threw down a standard assassin’s life-saver: a smoke grenade.
Xie Yunshen was enveloped in the mist. Lao Qu turned to flee, abandoned his partner without a second thought. But then he realized that at some point, another person had appeared behind him—it was Yi Wuyi.
It was over.
Inside the skyscraper, the bald man could no longer reach his two companions.
The man in the hoodie’s voice was icy: “It seems your mission failed.”
“Impossible! Even if it failed, it couldn’t be this fast! They’ve only been in for three minutes! Lao Qu and Black Cat are BKB’s top assassins! Do you know how many masters they’ve killed together!?”
Just then, Lao Qu’s weak voice finally came through the headset: “Baldy… you’ve killed me and Black Cat…”
The bald man was startled but didn’t dare speak. That dying voice proved everything. They had failed.
Then, a piercing noise came through the headset—likely the sound of Lao Qu falling to the ground. After a moment, a different voice spoke: “Old Five, look at this. Assassins actually wear headphones to listen to music while on a mission.”
“That’s their handler,” Yi Wuyi’s voice replied.
“I thought it was the BKB people. Turns out it’s just those old geezers from the Top Star Sect again. If I’d known, I would have let you handle it alone.”
The bald man’s face turned an ashen shade of green. This guy…
The man in the hoodie looked cold. Behind him, Yang Zhongxu’s face was contorted with rage, nearly fainting.
