After Transmigrating into an ABO World with My Nemesis (BL) - Chapter 4
Jiang Zhou had no idea when he had fallen asleep.
By the time he woke up, it was already afternoon. The lingering glow of the sunset filtered through the window, spreading a rich orange light across the room.
Jiang Zhou felt a bit dizzy upon waking, momentarily disoriented about where he was.
It wasn’t until he sat up, his body still feeling weak, that he noticed the other person in the room.
Cheng Bing was sitting in a black armchair by the bed. His muzzle had been removed, fully revealing his face.
He looked cold and aloof as ever—thick brows, a sharp nose, and thin lips. However, because he had only just reached adulthood, there was still a lingering boyishness that kept him from looking entirely heartless.
One of his hands hooked the muzzle, while the other held a palm-sized blue book with the title ABO Physiological Knowledge Manual on the cover.
In an instant, all his memories came rushing back.
Two seconds later, Jiang Zhou clutched his forehead, let out a pained groan, and flopped back onto the bed.
God.
He had to be dreaming.
Sensing movement, Cheng Bing looked up from the book and said flatly, “The school doctor was here earlier. We can leave now.”
He acted as if absolutely nothing had happened—composed and entirely unbothered.
It was as if the person who had been clinging to Jiang Zhou for hours, refusing to let go, wasn’t him at all.
Jiang Zhou: “…”
What’s with the act?
Like I’m the only one who cares!
Jiang Zhou sat back up and crossed his legs. He propped his elbows on his knees, rested his chin in his palms, and squinted his eyes to scrutinize Cheng Bing thoroughly.
Like Jiang Zhou, Cheng Bing was wearing a loose, white cotton T-shirt. The styles were similar, but Cheng Bing’s frame was slightly larger, filling out the shoulder lines perfectly.
On his pale skin, right near the collarbone where his shirt opened, there was a very obvious, red teeth mark.
Jiang Zhou had bitten him.
Because Cheng Bing had been incredibly annoying.
The guy had repeatedly tried to stuff Jiang Zhou under the blankets. At first, Jiang Zhou thought Cheng Bing was actually trying to murder him, only to realize later that Cheng Bing just wanted to hide him away.
It was stuffy under the covers. Jiang Zhou was uncomfortable and struggled several times, but Cheng Bing seemingly mistook his struggling for an escape attempt and held him even tighter.
Exasperated, Jiang Zhou had given him a vicious bite.
To his surprise, Cheng Bing seemed satisfied after being bitten, pulling him into his arms like a bundle and falling asleep.
Jiang Zhou: “…”
Right now, Cheng Bing had his pheromones tucked away neatly. The Alpha scent was no longer like it was when he arrived—vast as the deep sea, nearly drowning Jiang Zhou.
Without the pressure of the Alpha pheromones, even the air felt lighter, leaving only a faint trace of fresh snow and wood.
Jiang Zhou finally felt comfortable again, no longer feeling as if a mountain were pressing down on him.
He stared at Cheng Bing for a while, and Cheng Bing stared back.
Cheng Bing had indeed returned to his usual self, showing no trace of his erratic behavior during the Rut. He brazenly exposed the bite mark on his collarbone as if it were nothing. Ultimately, Jiang Zhou was the first to cave. He huffed and said, “You sure change your tune fast.”
Cheng Bing ignored the sarcasm, stood up from the chair, and slowly walked toward him.
The way he moved reminded Jiang Zhou of a few hours ago—the way Cheng Bing had pinned him against the door and interrogated him in a low voice.
Jiang Zhou’s heart skipped a beat. The memory of being suppressed by those pheromones made him tense up instinctively. He looked at Cheng Bing warily and snapped, “What?”
Cheng Bing stopped at the head of the bed, then leaned down until their noses were almost touching.
They were so close their breaths mingled. In Cheng Bing’s pitch-black eyes, the reflection of Jiang Zhou’s wary expression was clear—like a cat with its back arched and fur standing on end.
Jiang Zhou felt as if Cheng Bing was still in his Rut and instinctively wanted to flee.
But running away now would make him look like a coward, so he held his ground, staring Cheng Bing down.
Jiang Zhou was a stubborn kid and always had been. In the very beginning, he had wanted to be friends with Cheng Bing; no matter how much Cheng Bing resisted, Jiang Zhou refused to let him go.
Unfortunately, they never became friends. Instead, they became arch-nemeses who saw red the moment they crossed paths.
Cheng Bing found this “ready-to-explode” look of his quite interesting. He stared for a long time before reaching out and taking the black neck collar from beside Jiang Zhou’s pillow.
Jiang Zhou froze. He touched the back of his neck, only then realizing the collar had been taken off while he was asleep.
“Thank you,” Cheng Bing said, straightening up. He held the black collar and the muzzle in one hand. He looked down at Jiang Zhou and said flatly, “At least your ‘tune’ never changes.”
Before Jiang Zhou could even mock the fact that the usually infuriating Cheng Bing actually said “thank you” today, the second half of the sentence hit him.
It took two seconds to register: Cheng Bing was saying that whether he was under the influence of pheromones or not, he was always easily spooked into a defensive reaction.
In other words, the guy had walked over just to mess with him.
Jiang Zhou: “…”
A sudden fire flared up in his chest, accompanied by a strange sense of grievance.
Did I choose to become an Omega and be affected by Alphas?
“Cheng Bing, screw you,” Jiang Zhou cursed expressionlessly before throwing a punch at him.
But he had no strength in his hands. Cheng Bing raised a hand, blocked it easily, and caught his fist.
On Jiang Zhou’s wrist, there was still a ring of red marks—bruises from where Cheng Bing had gripped him too hard earlier. He bruised easily, and the marks hadn’t faded even after all this time.
Cheng Bing frowned, his lips parting as if to say something.
But Jiang Zhou angrily yanked his hand back and shoved him away. He rolled out of bed, threw on his shoes with a loud clatter, pulled open the door, and stormed out.
Cheng Bing apparently hadn’t expected to be pushed. He stood in his original position, stunned for a moment. By the time he looked back, Jiang Zhou was already long gone.
Only the creaking door remained, swaying alongside the shadows of the somber sunset.
In the quiet isolation room, the young Alpha let out a soft tch.
1st Floor, Infirmary.
The school doctor put away the muzzle and collar and wrote out prescriptions for both of them.
“…Student Cheng Bing’s Rut was sudden. Unlike a normal Rut, it only lasted a few hours, but you shouldn’t be careless. Take this medicine three times a day for seven consecutive days.” Having finished, she looked at the Alpha and Omega, who were currently separated by a gap wide enough for at least two people. “Even if you’ve had a fight, it’s best to exchange pheromones every day.”
“Doctor, will I die if we don’t exchange pheromones?” Jiang Zhou asked with a fake smile.
Cheng Bing had been about to ask something, but hearing Jiang Zhou, he turned to look at him.
Jiang Zhou was forcing a smile, but it was obvious his mood was foul; he was practically radiating murderous intent.
Cheng Bing’s gaze involuntarily slid to the back of Jiang Zhou’s neck. Without the collar, the smooth, pale nape was completely exposed to his view.
Jiang Zhou was lean, and a bone protruded slightly at the base of his neck. That tiny gland was slightly red, looking like a petal of peach blossom fallen upon white snow.
Cheng Bing’s Adam’s apple bobbed uncomfortably as he forced himself to look away.
The doctor was baffled. Usually, after an Omega helps an Alpha through a Rut, their feelings for each other warm up, but the relationship between these two seemed to have suddenly dropped to absolute zero.
Young people these days… I really don’t get them.
The doctor adjusted her glasses. “…No, you won’t die. It’ll just take longer to recover.”
Good, Jiang Zhou thought. As long as it isn’t fatal, it’s a minor issue.
Only a dog would continue to exchange pheromones with Cheng Bing! Ptooey!
“Doctor, why do I have to take medicine too?” Jiang Zhou asked.
“Your pheromones might be affected by his, leading to Pheromone Disorder,” the doctor explained. “This medicine is to regulate the pheromone levels in your body.”
Jiang Zhou was the kind of kid elders loved—sweet-talking and polite. He nodded and said “I understand” so cutely that he earned a motherly, caring look from the doctor.
She then gave Cheng Bing a very disapproving look. How could he fight with the Omega who just finished soothing his Rut?
Zero Alpha manners.
Cheng Bing: “…”
After paying and leaving the infirmary, Jiang Zhou realized he hadn’t eaten all day. His stomach was growling loudly.
He was both angry and hungry, and his resentment toward Cheng Bing was hitting the ceiling. After stepping out of the clinic, he didn’t even give the guy a glance, turning on his heel toward the school gate.
Jiang Zhou walked incredibly fast. Just as he was about to step through the gate, his pinky finger was suddenly caught by someone.
