An Honest Woman, But Her Wife Is A Succubus - Chapter 2
When Fu Xin woke up, her body felt as though it had been crushed beneath a massive boulder. Her hands hurt, her legs hurt—everything hurt.
She had no idea what had happened to the wings on her back, but several holes had been torn through them. Her tail lay weakly curled around the base of her pale thigh, completely devoid of its usual energy.
The wound on her arm was still steadily oozing blood. The vivid red liquid trickled down her fair skin and dripped into the uneven puddles beneath her feet.
The pain made her hiss, and she clutched the wound to stop the bleeding.
She raised her head and looked around at the unfamiliar surroundings.
Damp, dim, and narrow, it was a straight passageway with walls on either side so high she could not see their tops. Above her head, countless lines she could not understand crisscrossed like spiderwebs.
“Where is this?”
A mechanical electronic voice had appeared inside her head, chattering nonstop and making it impossible for her to calm down and think.
“Host, Host, I’m the Demon King System. All you need to do is—”
“Who’s in there?”
The sudden sound of footsteps rang through the quiet alley, cutting off the voice in Fu Xin’s head.
Oh no. Had the guards caught up to her?
Without thinking, Fu Xin immediately dragged her injured body and ran deeper inside.
But after only a couple of steps, she stopped.
Damn it!
It was a dead end!
A cold, towering wall blocked the path in front of Fu Xin. The only way out was through the entrance behind her. She estimated the height of the wall, but with her wings injured, there was no way she could fly over it.
What should she do?
She barely had any magic left. If she faced those guards head-on, she definitely wouldn’t be able to beat them.
But she refused to let herself be captured again just like that.
“Host, Host…” The annoying mechanical voice abruptly sounded in her head again, startling her so badly that her whole body trembled.
“You scared me! Shut up!”
The inexperienced system obediently fell silent, not daring to make another sound.
Fu Xin figured she must have hit her head somehow. Otherwise, why would she be hearing things?
The footsteps drew closer and closer. Fu Xin had no time to think about it.
Got it!
An inconspicuous pale-purple glow appeared in the dark corner.
Yu Chen walked unobstructed all the way to the depths of the alley. That pained cry she had heard leaking out earlier now almost seemed like something she had imagined.
“No one?”
She turned on her phone’s flashlight and carefully illuminated every corner.
“So you’re here.”
Under the cool white beam, a completely black kitten was curled into a ball. Its fur had been soaked through by the rain, clinging to its body in damp strands, making it look bedraggled and pitiful.
Something had happened to one of its front paws. Several glaring wounds tore through the black fur, and after being soaked in the dirty water on the ground without treatment, the flesh around the edges of the wounds had already turned pale.
When Yu Chen looked over, the little black cat lying in the corner lifted its head and timidly let out a soft, “Meow~” The delicate cry seemed to scratch lightly at her heart.
Yu Chen, who rarely showed much emotion, unexpectedly frowned, pity stirring in her heart. “What a poor little kitten.”
Poor?
Me?
Fu Xin had been praised countless times for being beautiful and highly talented, but this was the first time anyone had ever described her as “poor.”
The moment she saw that the person standing in front of her was just an ordinary human, the heart that had been hanging tensely in her chest finally settled.
As long as it wasn’t the guards.
What troubled her now was that the last scraps of magic remaining in her body had been used to transform herself into a kitten. Until her magic recovered, she would have no choice but to maintain this form.
Now that she had become an ordinary kitten, the damp rainwater and icy ground both made her deeply uncomfortable, while the wound on her paw hurt so badly she could hardly endure it.
Her entire field of vision suddenly shifted.
W-What was happening?!
Yu Chen noticed the little black cat’s widened eyes and the almost humanlike look of terror on its furry face. She gently reassured it, “There’s standing water on the ground. If your wound stays soaked in it, it’ll get worse.”
She picked up the kitten and placed it on top of a pile of miscellaneous items stacked in the alley. There was no standing water there, and it was relatively dry.
Holding it carefully in both hands, she gently set the cat down.
Fu Xin found a comfortable spot on the cardboard and curled up, then gave the kind stranger in front of her a “Meow~” as thanks.
As a tiny kitten, she certainly wouldn’t have been able to climb up here by herself to take shelter from the rain.
She narrowed her eyes as she watched the kindhearted person walk away and decided inwardly that once she recovered, she would definitely come back and repay this human.
“Host, Host!”
That noisy voice inside her head started up again.
The moment it spoke, Fu Xin felt her head swell and ache. Her entire demon… no, her entire cat body became dizzy and lightheaded.
Her whole body felt weak. She tried lifting her front paw and discovered she couldn’t muster even the slightest strength. To make matters worse, her body was beginning to heat up, perhaps because the wound had become infected and caused a high fever.
Normally, this would have been nothing more than a matter of casting a healing spell for Fu Xin. But in her current state, it had become a life-threatening problem.
“I’m finished. Am I really going to die here?”
“I wonder if Mei Li and the others managed to escape.” Still, both of them had been at full strength and had the keys in their hands, so escaping from the guards probably wouldn’t be too difficult.
Fu Xin had gone three days in a cage without so much as a drop of water. She was starving.
“Anyway, first I need to find something to eat and fill my stomach.”
The puffed-up kitten staggered to her feet and laboriously shuffled forward a few steps, estimating the distance between herself and the ground.
“It’s so high. How am I supposed to get down?”
Without wings on her back, Fu Xin crept toward the edge, then cautiously retreated two steps, afraid she might accidentally fall.
Her opinion of the kindhearted person immediately dropped considerably.
She gritted her teeth and endured the pain throughout her body and the hunger gnawing at her stomach. As long as she held out until her magic recovered, everything would naturally be resolved.
“Host, this world has no magical energy. No matter how long you wait, the depleted magic in your body will not recover.”
The mechanical voice sounded, delivering a crushing blow to Fu Xin.
“W-What?”
She suspected the fever had fried her brain. Not only was she hearing another voice in her head, it was now announcing horrifying news to her.
“T-This world?”
“What do you mean, this world?”
“Explain yourself. What exactly is going on?”
“Hello, Host. Due to a disruption in space-time, you were forcibly transported to this world. I am the Demon King System, and I am responsible for handling this accidental incident involving you.”
“After binding with me, every time you gain a point of affection from someone, the magic inside your body will increase accordingly. The person you obtain affection points from is not limited to anyone in particular. It can be anyone.”
“Once you accumulate enough affection points, you’ll be able to advance into a Demon King and return to your original world.”
“Time flows differently between the two worlds. In other words, no matter how long you stay in this world, only a few seconds will have passed in your original world. You don’t need to worry about returning to find everything changed.”
“Friendly reminder: affection points can be converted into magic.”
The system rattled off the entire explanation like beans spilling from a bag, only for the person involved to roll her eyes back and faint.
Help!
A world without magical energy, yet somehow there was a mechanical system capable of casually invading her brain.
What a terrifying world!
In the instant before she closed her eyes, she seemed to see the kindhearted person’s figure again.
Like a beam of light shining into a gloomy corner.
In this unfamiliar world, she was the only one who made Fu Xin feel even a trace of warmth.
Yu Chen walked out of the alley and headed straight for a convenience store, her hands never stopping as she searched the map for the nearest veterinary clinic.
She hurried along and soon came rushing back with a plastic bag in hand.
The pitiful little kitten had fainted on the cardboard. As the cold wind blew, its half-dry, half-wet fur trembled in the breeze. If not for the faint rise and fall of its chest, Yu Chen would almost have thought she had returned too late.
She quickly pulled a towel from the bag and wrapped the kitten up tightly, leaving no gap for the wind to get through. Cradling it in both hands, she continuously transferred warmth from her palms to its body.
“It’s okay.” Even though she knew the little black cat couldn’t understand her, she still coaxed it softly. “Once the doctor looks at you and your wounds are treated, you’ll be fine.”
“Would you like to come home with me?”
Yu Chen made the decision on her own, her clear voice continuing,
“If you don’t refuse, I’ll take that as a yes.”
Strictly following the principle that hesitation meant losing your chance, she held the kitten and immediately took a taxi to the clinic.
The tiny, boneless little body lay in her palm, so light it seemed to weigh nothing at all.
Her eyes remained fixed on the little black cat as it whimpered unconsciously from discomfort, and her entire heart felt as though someone had clenched it tightly in their fist, leaving her unbearably distressed.
[Ding. Successfully obtained one affection point.]
The Demon King System inside Fu Xin’s mind dutifully recorded the change in value.
Because of one little kitten, a faint ripple appeared in Yu Chen’s otherwise completely undisturbed life.
When Fu Xin woke up again, most of the discomfort in her body had disappeared. She felt as though she were lying on a soft cloud, so comfortable that her entire cat body wanted to knead it with her paws.
“Meow~”
Her pale pink paw pads spread open like tiny plum blossoms blooming against the wool blanket. The kitten lazily lowered her body and stretched.
While wondering when her front paw had been wrapped in layer after layer of white gauze, her gaze swept over her surroundings.
“Where am I now?”
Warm yellow lighting, soft cushions, and…
The smell of food!
Fu Xin’s pink nose twitched vigorously, and the emptiness in her stomach became even more obvious. She had no attention left to spare for wondering how to return to her original world. The only thing occupying her tiny head now was filling her stomach.
Succubi fed on lust during their heat cycles, but ordinarily, they still ate normal food to fill their stomachs just like humans.
Fu Xin had only recently reached adulthood and had yet to experience her first heat. She had never tasted lust before and was only interested in food she could put in her mouth.
She saw the kindhearted person walking toward her carrying a bowl.
“You’re awake?”
The kindhearted person crouched in front of her and spoke in a voice as clear and refreshing as a mountain spring.
“I mixed some goat milk formula for you. Have a little.”
Goat milk?
Fu Xin had once gone to a market with Mei Li and drunk goat milk before. It had carried such a strong gamey smell that she hadn’t liked it at all. But this bowl in front of her—
The rich milky fragrance made her swallow repeatedly.
Should she try it?
Yu Chen saw the hesitant expression on the kitten’s face and nudged the bowl a little closer. Now the smell of milk became even clearer.
The tip of a pink tongue tentatively licked the surface once, and a rich milky flavor instantly filled her entire mouth.
It was delicious!
This was goat milk? Then what on earth had she drunk before?
Fu Xin immediately began lapping up the goat milk in huge mouthfuls.
At first, she wasn’t used to drinking with her tongue like a kitten, but once she got the hang of it, she lapped at an astonishing speed. The bowl was soon empty, and a ring of milky-white foam formed around the pitch-black fur surrounding her mouth like a little mustache.
Now full, Fu Xin repented for ever doubting the kindhearted person and became even more convinced that she was a good person.
Yu Chen stood beside her the entire time, smiling as she watched the kitten drink. The softness in her eyes looked almost warm enough to melt the cat.
“So cute~”
She scooped the kitten up with one hand, her long fingers brushing across its round, bulging belly.
“You ate so much.”
Fu Xin fell backward into her arms, all four limbs flailing wildly in the air as she tried to stop Yu Chen from touching her belly anymore.
Fortunately, she was a black cat. Her pitch-black fur concealed her embarrassment. Otherwise, her entire body would have turned red like a ripe peach.
Yu Chen somehow managed to see shyness on a kitten’s face, which only made her want to tease it more. Her nimble fingers dodged the wildly waving paws and proceeded to pet the little kitten all over.
Fu Xin’s eyes widened, and all four limbs suddenly forgot how to struggle.
“Meow?!”
Which one of them was supposed to be the succubus here?! Even if she was a kitten, she couldn’t just be touched everywhere!
“Hahaha?”
“You even know how to cover your face with your paws?”
“Are you embarrassed?”
“So cute!” Yu Chen gently pried apart the kitten’s furry paws and leaned closer, wanting to see the expression on its face.
Smack!
A soft paw pad smacked Yu Chen right across the face.
Witness the power of my kitty punch! Let’s see if you dare touch me wherever you want again!
But things did not develop the way Fu Xin expected. That punch seemed to knock straight through Yu Chen’s brain, leaving her standing there covering her face and grinning foolishly.
Uh-oh. Did I hit her too hard?
Thinking about how Yu Chen had kindly gotten her wounds treated and even brought her such delicious goat milk, a flicker of regret passed through Fu Xin’s heart.
“What a well-mannered little kitten. You even know to retract your claws when you hit someone.”
Fu Xin: ???
