Dragging My Legitimate Elder Sister into the Bed - Chapter 12
“Miss, you’re back? Everything has been prepared. Young Master Chen is waiting in the mansion… Shall we leave now?”
Xiao Huan came out from the room to greet her and was surprised to see her young miss’s slightly pale face full of indifference.
Su Xi walked into the room and stood there for a while. The words “I’m not going” hovered on her lips, but she slowly let out a breath and swallowed them.
She was no longer a child. How could she throw a tantrum like this…
She lifted the curtain and walked into the inner room. “Bring me another set of clothes. Something simple and neat.”
The maid standing in front of the room was puzzled. Hadn’t Miss just changed her clothes today…?
Still, she followed Su Xi’s instructions, fetched a short jacket and a ruqun skirt, and brought them inside.
Su Xi stared at herself in the mirror for a while. Her shoulders and neck looked smooth and clean, but when she focused, several small patches of skin burned hot, connected in a line.
The light, soft touch extended from below her shoulder all the way up to her neck. Su Qian’s kisses had been very gentle, carrying longing and tenderness. They left no marks, yet felt like a branding iron…
Su Xi raised her hand and touched her neck. A trace of daze appeared on her indifferent face.
Only at this moment did she suddenly realize that Su Qian and she were truly different now.
Su Qian was a Qian Yuan, and she was a Kun Ze.
Just like what she saw in that booklet today, and like the kiss from Su Qian when she was aroused — the kind that made her nervous and afraid.
After calming down for a long time, Su Xi finally left the room.
Her thoughts were still in chaos along the way, like wind blowing up a cloth covering sand and stones on the ground — flying sand and rolling stones, covering one side but unable to hold down the other.
Her head throbbed faintly. When she reached the main gate, two figures gradually became clear in her sight. Su Xi paused in her steps.
“Xixi, you’re here!” The two people at the gate looked over. Su Xi stood there without moving.
Su Qian also didn’t speak, just watching her from afar.
Chen Cang was a bit confused by the strange atmosphere. The two sisters were usually so close — why did they seem stiff today?
Thinking they might have quarreled, Chen Cang spoke up to ease the tension. “Xixi, come quickly. The street lanterns have just been lit. It’s perfect timing for us to set off. Little Qian said she’s tired from reading and wants to join us for a stroll…”
Even the reason was the exact words she had told her earlier…
Su Xi felt a stuffy feeling in her chest, as if she had blocked herself.
“Alright, let’s go.”
Chen Cang beamed and led the way ahead.
Su Qian walked over and stood beside Su Xi, walking with her. Su Xi showed no reaction, but when Su Qian reached out to hold her hand, she took an almost imperceptible step back.
Su Qian looked at the hand she had missed, tilted her head with some confusion, and quietly withdrew her hand.
Su Xi secretly sighed.
The lanterns had just been lit. The streets were brightly illuminated.
Chen Cang ran into a friend on the street and chatted with him on the side.
Su Qian and Su Xi walked around the nearby stalls, browsing and picking items.
“Sister, are you angry?”
The surrounding noise was somewhat chaotic, but the girl’s clear, quiet voice still reached her ears distinctly.
She casually flipped through the buyao hair ornaments on the stall. The gilded fragments of light flowed under the swaying tassels, like birds jumping in the light.
“Shouldn’t I be angry?” Su Xi put down the buyao in her hand and picked up a jade hairpin beside it. “Qianqian, you’re still young, yet you spend all day thinking about these things. It’s harmful to both your body and your studies.”
Su Qian thought for a moment and nodded. “I’ll return the book to the study pavilion later.”
Seeing her attitude was acceptable, the messy irritation in Su Xi’s heart finally eased a little.
“You’ve just differentiated, so your emotions are still unstable. It’s normal to be curious about these things. If necessary, I can ask Grandmother to arrange a tongfang maid for you, but you must not become addicted.”
Su Qian tilted her head and looked at her side profile, which was glowing faintly under the street lanterns. She replied softly, “There’s no need.”
Only then did Su Xi’s expression soften considerably.
“Xixi, I haven’t seen Brother Fang for a long time. Since we met by chance today, I’d like to catch up with him…”
Su Xi glanced at the young master Fang not far away, who had his arm around a beautiful concubine, then looked at Chen Cang for a while until Chen Cang grew guilty.
She nodded in understanding and said, “Go ahead. Be careful at night.”
Chen Cang felt greatly relieved. Hearing her gentle reminder made his heart feel as sweet as honey. He agreed repeatedly, reminded the two to be careful and return early, and asked Su Qian to take good care of her sister before leaving with the other man.
In the distance, teasing words like “what good fortune” and “a beauty as lovely as a flower” could be heard.
Su Xi led Su Qian and continued strolling ahead. Since they had already come out, she might as well let Qianqian relax and enjoy herself.
Her hand was quietly held by Su Qian again. Su Xi looked down at it and did not pull away this time.
“Sister, aren’t you curious about what they’re going to do?”
The bustling crowd flowed around them, their shadows flickering. Only this small space between them felt as quiet as a surging tide.
Su Xi looked around casually and answered indifferently, “Nothing more than drinking and talking about beauties, seeking pleasure… On a big night like this, they’re hardly going to be embracing a beauty and studying hard by the window.”
Her expression was calm and her answer casual, but she understood everything clearly in her heart.
“There are river lanterns over there.” She turned back to signal Su Qian.
Su Qian looked at her expression, which showed no ripples, and felt an indescribable feeling in her heart — as if someone had roughly kneaded it, stuffy and painful.
It seemed like she had no expectations for the future. Looking ahead, there was only a life without color.
Su Qian suddenly wanted to reach out and hug her, to carry her back home, to protect her and stay by her side for a lifetime.
But Su Xi gently patted her head and asked again, “What are you thinking about? I asked if you want to release river lanterns.”
She slightly narrowed her eyes. On her clear, jade-like face, she pretended to be displeased, but there was a trace of pleasant curvature.
The place on her forehead that had been lightly patted still seemed to retain warmth. Su Qian stared at her without blinking and asked, “Sister, do you want to release river lanterns?”
Su Xi was stunned for a moment, apparently not expecting her to ask that. Her jade-like face slowly overflowed with softness under the colorful street lanterns.
The corners of her lips gently curved upward. Her whole person was like a beautiful night-blooming cereus under the moonlight, slowly blossoming, pure and moving.
“Let’s go.”
Her forehead was patted again. Su Qian came back to her senses.
In her quiet amber eyes, the gentle, lingering figure turned around and pulled her toward the river lanterns.
