Dragging My Legitimate Elder Sister into the Bed - Chapter 14
Su Qian reached out and smoothed the hair at her temple. Su Xi was still weak, her face somewhat pale.
She led her back along the way, passing through a quiet forest.
When they had come earlier, the forest was still sprinkled with some sunlight. Now that it was deep into the night, only darkness remained. The leaves rustled in the wind, making soft “sha sha” sounds.
Walking inside felt somewhat eerie and strange. But Su Xi felt it was just quiet enough to give her a moment of peace.
Su Qian’s steps paused beside her. She turned her head to look at Su Xi’s eyes, which had regained some liveliness, then casually withdrew her gaze and continued supporting her forward.
In the dark night, it felt as though countless unknown eyes were watching.
Since there was no movement, Su Qian did not react either.
A flash of bright knife light suddenly appeared, reflecting in Su Xi’s slightly lowered eyes.
She reflexively closed her eyes. In the next second, a familiar warmth once again covered her eyes.
The sound of blades slicing through the air rang beside her ears. Her vision fell back into darkness. An arm wrapped around her waist, her hair fluttered, and Su Xi was carried to the base of a nearby tree, her back leaning against the gnarled roots.
“Don’t open your eyes. I’ll call you later.” A soft warmth pressed against her from the front. Su Qian held her steady and whispered in her ear.
Su Xi nodded. Then, the warmth in front of her suddenly disappeared.
The wind rustled through the treetops, branches and leaves brushed against each other, and fallen leaves drifted softly.
Su Xi felt like she had only been listening to the wind for a short while before the warmth returned in front of her.
Even though the person was standing right in front of her, she didn’t make a sound. It seemed like she was just staring at her. Her face drew closer and closer, until even the breath coming from her nose was clearly audible.
Then she suddenly pulled back, silent as a shadow.
Only a faint warmth seemed to brush across her cheek — so light it might have been an illusion.
Su Qian looked at the woman standing quietly under the tree with her eyes closed. The cold, clear moonlight spilled onto her delicate features, making her look peaceful and serene. She had said not to move, so Su Xi really didn’t move. She tilted her head slightly, quiet and steady, yet revealing a trace of obedience.
A quiet heat rose in Su Qian’s body after the recent activity. Deep in her heart, a faint, obscure sense of violation emerged.
She wanted to kiss Su Xi’s lips, but she was afraid of startling her, so she only brushed past her cheek.
It was like a dragonfly skimming the water — gone in an instant. Yet her heart was turbulent. Looking at Su Xi’s seemingly unaware face, a sense of relief after surviving danger welled up.
“It’s done. Let’s go, Xixi.”
Su Xi opened her eyes. After confirming Su Qian was unharmed, she reached out and took her hand, shaking her head. “There are still people.”
This place was remote, with dense and quiet trees — an excellent spot for an ambush.
But with this kind of formation, they probably weren’t here to ambush the two of them.
Su Qian held her breath and listened for a moment. Two breathing sounds were clearly coming from behind a tree root on the side.
She pinched a fallen leaf between her fingers. The sound of breaking wind whistled as it sliced through the tree trunk like tofu. The person hiding behind the tree dodged awkwardly, and the leaf flew into the darkness.
“Cough, cough…” The person behind the tree had no choice but to reveal themselves. Supported by a close attendant, they covered their mouth with their sleeve and coughed weakly a few times. A sickly flush appeared on their cheeks.
“I’m sorry for dragging you two into this. I have no way to repay today’s kindness. I am Yue Ge. If the two of you encounter any trouble in the future…”
She pulled a crimson jade pendant from her waist. In the deep night, a fiery red young phoenix lay coiled within it, burning under the moonlight.
“Take this as proof. Yue Ge will do everything in her power to help.”
The person wore a deep purple cloud-patterned dress with intricate designs, as if they had left a banquet midway. Their face was flushed, their steps unsteady — clearly forcing themselves to hold on. Yet their brows carried a calm composure. Even in dire straits, they remained unhurried, exuding a noble and gentle aura.
When they raised their eyes for a moment, their gaze met Su Xi’s leisurely. They touched for an instant and separated, but dark ripples floated in both their eyes.
“An accidental encounter. The past is over. We shall not meet again on the road ahead. When fate ends, let it dissipate cleanly.”
Su Xi lifted her skirt and bowed slightly to her. She nodded and said “Farewell,” then took Su Qian and left.
Yue Ge watched the two walk away without looking back and sighed softly, “What a pity.”
“Master, they…”
Yue Ge raised a hand to stop her maid and said, “One kills with a leaf, the other sees through everything with a glance. One has high martial skill, the other has deep schemes, and they are of one mind. Truly rare. It’s a pity… they are unwilling to serve me.”
She had already given her name and the crimson jade as a token of sincerity. What could she do if people had their own aspirations?
“Never mind. Clean it up properly and don’t let Old Fifth trace it back to them. Consider it repayment.”
Just as Su Xi had said — “When fate ends, let it dissipate cleanly.” Neither seeking gratitude nor harboring resentment, cutting everything off here cleanly was best.
When they returned to the Su mansion, it was already deep into the quiet night.
Su Qian followed Su Xi all the way back to her room and watched her lean against the edge of the bed. Her waist was slender and graceful. The breeze lifted her skirt, making her look as if she could barely withstand the weight of her clothes. A faint weariness surfaced between her brows.
“There were many things today. Qianqian, you should rest early too.” She was truly quite tired right now.
There was no sound of footsteps leaving. The moment she opened her eyes, Su Qian was half-squatting beside her knees, looking up at her with amber eyes.
“Chen Cang is not a good man. Sister, this marriage is not appropriate.”
The moment she closed her eyes, the lewd scene she had glimpsed earlier flashed before her again.
“Sister, please cancel the marriage with the Chen family.”
Su Xi lowered her eyes. “This matter was arranged by Grandfather and Old Master Chen. Now that both elders have passed away, unless there is a grave mistake, the engagement cannot be broken. It is set in stone.”
She reached out and patted Su Qian’s head. “Besides, the Chen family is now at its peak while the Su family has already declined. We have even less say in breaking the engagement. Qianqian…”
She suddenly closed her eyes, unwilling to think further. “Most Qian Yuan in this world are like this. Food and sex are natural instincts. It’s normal that they can’t hold back. This afternoon, I was too extreme and biased.”
Her voice carried apology as she referred to the cold face she had given Su Qian that afternoon after catching her reading bedroom pleasure books.
“You have indeed reached the age where you should understand human affairs. It’s better to know earlier than to be overwhelmed by curiosity and go down the wrong path. Tomorrow, I’ll ask Grandmother to…”
“Sister.”
She wanted to say she would ask Grandmother tomorrow to arrange a tongfang maid for Su Qian, but the scorching heat that suddenly came from her palm made her stop.
“Sister, I will not be like him or Su Yihuan.” Su Qian pressed Su Xi’s hand against her own forehead. “If I love someone and marry someone, I will guard her for a lifetime, keep her carefree, let her act as she wishes, and keep my entire heart on her. I will never touch anyone else. Sister, don’t marry him…”
Su Xi looked at the girl holding her hand to her forehead, eyes burning as if making an oath, and her heart suddenly softened.
“Yes. If any Kun Ze can marry our Qianqian, it would truly be a great blessing.”
The corners of her lips curved slightly. The gloom that Chen Cang had brought seemed to vanish in an instant.
“Alright, stop lingering here. It’s late. Go back and sleep.” She rubbed the stray hair at Su Qian’s temple and coaxed her softly.
