Chapter 30
To be honest, the scene was truly bizarre.
Su Xianxian and Jiang Cuo sat facing each other, hiccuping one after another in a rhythmic back-and-forth.
Under normal circumstances, this scene should have been hilarious, but because both possessed such high levels of beauty—and were currently flushed a deep red—the image suddenly took on a much more “restricted-rating” vibe.
The student sitting behind Jiang Cuo pushed up her black eyeglass frames. Why does this scene feel so familiar? Where have I seen this before?
Suddenly, as if hit by a bolt of realization, she slapped her thigh with her left hand. However, she noticed it didn’t hurt at all. She looked down in confusion only to realize she had slapped the wrong leg—she had slapped Su Lian’s leg. Su Lian was currently glaring at her with a resentful, brooding expression.
The student behind Jiang Cuo scratched the back of her head awkwardly. “Ai, we’re desk-mates, right? Slapping the wrong leg is understandable~ By the way, don’t you think your sister and Jiang Cuo look like they’re performing a wedding ceremony right now? Except instead of bowing to each other, they’re hiccuping at each other. Rounded up, it’s basically the same thing.”
Su Lian did not like this situation one bit. She silently rolled her eyes at her desk-mate. “What a strange person. Your name is Lu Rong (Deer Antler), did all that tonic go straight to your brain? I think I’m the one who matches Su Xianxian best.”
Su Lian grumbled in a low voice, but Jiang Cuo’s desk-mate didn’t care; her attention was entirely fixed on Su Xianxian and Jiang Cuo. While covering her nose to stifle a potential nosebleed, she began writing furiously.
Episode 6 of “Xianxian’s Mistaken Love” finally has some progress!
When the class teacher entered and saw the two girls hiccuping at each other, she assumed they were so young that they had been frightened to tears by the chaotic scene earlier. Her heart ached for them. In her several years of teaching, she had never seen students suffer such a grievance. She felt it was a personal failure on her part.
“Su Xianxian, Jiang Cuo, if you aren’t feeling well, go home first. I’ll call a car for you.”
The teacher stepped forward and saw Su Xianxian looking dazed, her face flushed red and her body temperature clearly abnormal. She knew immediately that Su Xianxian had a fever. She reached out to touch Su Xianxian’s forehead to check her temperature, but Jiang Cuo—still hiccuping—was one step ahead. She placed her own palm against Su Xianxian’s forehead, leaving the teacher with nowhere to touch.
The teacher didn’t mind; her eyes remained full of concern. She knew Jiang Cuo’s family wasn’t well-off, and since Su Xianxian was currently semi-conscious and unable to call her own butler, the teacher didn’t want Jiang Cuo to have to spend money on transport.
Jiang Cuo nodded. She skillfully fished Su Xianxian’s phone out of her pocket. “It’s alright, Teacher. Su Xianxian’s butler will come to pick us up. We live very close; I will take care of her.”
Because class was still in session, the teacher didn’t ask too many questions—mostly because she trusted Jiang Cuo implicitly. And so, she watched as a red-faced Jiang Cuo supported Su Xianxian out of the classroom.
Seeing Su Xianxian leave, Su Lian stood up, wanting to follow. But she was blocked by the teacher. “You stay here and listen to the lecture. You aren’t sick, so don’t go running off.”
The teacher knew Su Lian’s identity, and while she’d be lying if she said she didn’t mind it, her professional ethics required her to treat all students equally. Su Lian had no choice but to sit back down listlessly.
Su Jianxiu had been taken away. In this world, the only person she cared about was Su Xianxian. As for that girl who jumped… she didn’t feel a shred of guilt. Although the girl was originally isolated because she had followed Su Lian’s instructions to frame Su Xianxian, the girl had the right to refuse. Furthermore, after it was over, Su Lian had given her the money she promised.
On the day she transferred, Su Lian had clearly seen the girl accept the money at the gate. Trying to back out halfway was impossible. While Su Lian wanted to make Su Xianxian unhappy, she still had principles; she only played dirty with Su Xianxian. When she asked that girl to do something, she provided the benefits in advance.
To put it bluntly, that girl’s “pitiful” act was just for her own profit. She was selfish to the core. She wanted money but suffered from low self-esteem, so she tried to use her insecurity to make money—and when that failed, she acted pitiful to use moral kidnapping. Once she tasted the sweetness of moral kidnapping, she did it habitually. It was a mix of low self-esteem and arrogance. She didn’t have the fate of a princess but refused to accept it. Wasn’t it all her own doing?
In a way, she was exactly like that selfish, rogue-like woman in the conference room today.
Jiang Cuo led the staggering Su Xianxian through the hallway. Unexpectedly, Su Xianxian—completely delirious from the fever—suddenly pushed Jiang Cuo’s hand away. With her head held high and chest out, she began to stride forward on her own.
Jiang Cuo rubbed her throbbing temples. She realized that people who lose consciousness are truly difficult to handle. She then recalled that on the day she was “drunk,” she had pestered Su Xianxian in the equipment room in much the same way. Her face turned even redder, and her ears grew hot. For a moment, she didn’t know whether to cover her aching head or her blushing face.
What is all this?
Jiang Cuo’s usually indifferent phoenix eyes held a trace of helplessness. Her “cold aura” that usually kept people at a distance had gradually vanished.
Su Xianxian walked a few steps, then turned around muzzily. Her face was red and burning with heat. She swayed on her feet, then walked back toward Jiang Cuo. Her almond eyes narrowed into slits as she looked the tall Jiang Cuo up and down.
“Are you my wife? You’re actually quite pretty. Don’t worry, I’m going to treat you well.”
Jiang Cuo: “?”
While Su Xianxian was talking nonsense, she patted her own chest. Then, she did something that made Jiang Cuo’s eyes nearly pop out of her head.
Su Xianxian stepped forward and swept Jiang Cuo off her feet in a princess carry.
Despite having a fever and no strength, Su Xianxian somehow found a burst of power. She hoisted Jiang Cuo up and began to run wildly, looking like a bandit who had just kidnapped a bride. Fortunately, it was during class time and all the students were in their rooms. Even if they heard the strange sounds—like a monkey stealing a bride—they had no chance to peek.
Jiang Cuo simply covered her face with both hands and let Su Xianxian do as she pleased.
By the time they reached the ground floor, Su Xianxian’s butler was already waiting with the car. He saw Su Xianxian running like a madwoman, carrying a very large “bundle” (Jiang Cuo) in her arms like she was kidnapping someone.
Jiang Cuo kept her face covered, pretending she was still her calm, composed self. The usually refined and gentle butler couldn’t keep his straight face; a crack appeared in his expression, but he still very gentlemanly opened the back door for Su Xianxian.
The moment Su Xianxian saw the car, it was like she deflated; all her strength vanished. Jiang Cuo seized the opportunity to jump down, then reached back to catch the sagging Su Xianxian and stuffed her into the back seat.
Su Xianxian slumped onto the seat like a pile of wet mud. The butler also got into the car.
“I’ll have to trouble you. The Miss doesn’t like injections or medicine. Once we get back, please coax her into taking her medicine. We’ll see if the fever breaks tonight; if it doesn’t, we’ll have to take her to the hospital.”
Jiang Cuo nodded silently, then pinned down Su Xianxian’s wildly waving hands. Even in her feverish state, Su Xianxian’s hands were incredibly agile. Her sole focus was trying to wrap them around Jiang Cuo’s neck.
Jiang Cuo’s temples began to throb again. The butler, being tactful, raised the partition in the luxury car, completely separating the front from the back. Only then did Jiang Cuo relax a little.
Jiang Cuo gritted her teeth, leaned her head close to Su Xianxian, and whispered a low warning: “Su Xianxian, behave yourself.”
Su Xianxian was burning hot all over. Jiang Cuo eventually ran out of ways to fight her and had no choice but to let Su Xianxian hang onto her, her arms wrapped around Jiang Cuo’s neck.
When they reached the villa, the butler thoughtfully opened the door. Su Xianxian had already fallen asleep against Jiang Cuo. Jiang Cuo had no choice but to carry her in. She held her with one hand under Su Xianxian’s backside and the other supporting her back.
Su Xianxian clung to Jiang Cuo’s neck in her sleep like a secure koala. Her brow was relaxed, and she smacked her lips slightly. Jiang Cuo maintained a cold face, but if Su Xianxian hadn’t been so scorching hot, she would have suspected the girl was faking it just to stay clung to her.
They finally reached the second floor. Jiang Cuo carried Su Xianxian into her room and tried to toss her onto the bed, but Su Xianxian refused to let go. Jiang Cuo slipped, accidentally falling on top of her, and both landed on the bed together.
At that moment, Su Xianxian frowned slightly as if her sleep had been disturbed. She opened her eyes muzzily.
Jiang Cuo was suddenly reminded of some familiar images. Her gaze instinctively fell on Su Xianxian’s lower lip, and she remembered exactly how the wounds on both their lips had happened.
Su Xianxian’s almond eyes narrowed into slits, her gaze full of daze. Her lips were red and moist from the fever. Lying on the bed with her hair disheveled, the usually silly girl suddenly looked incredibly charming. The atmosphere in the room shifted instantly.
Su Xianxian licked the corner of her lip and saw Jiang Cuo’s face right in front of her.
“Jiang Cuo… you want to steal a kiss from me again. I won’t let you have your way. You kiss me and then frame me, saying I took liberties with you! Meanie!”
It was as if fireworks had exploded in Jiang Cuo’s brain. Pitter-patter.
On that day in the dim equipment room… was that the tone she had used with Su Xianxian? Jiang Cuo felt like she was going to crumble. She wanted to leave instantly, run back to her room, and scrub her face with cold water. Why is my face so hot? I must have caught Su Xianxian’s cold.
Jiang Cuo pulled at Su Xianxian’s arm, wanting her to let go. Unexpectedly, Su Xianxian lifted her head and took a light bite of Jiang Cuo’s lip, even grinding it resentfully with her canine tooth.
Jiang Cuo immediately reached out and pinched Su Xianxian’s cheeks, forcing her to let go. Then, with a quick movement, she sprang to her feet.
This Su Xianxian… even burned up like this, she was still thinking about taking advantage of her!
Jiang Cuo’s face was flushed. Her long fingers, now pink at the tips, covered her face, leaving only one eye visible. She looked into the vanity mirror nearby and saw clearly: her face was as red as a boiled shrimp.
It’s all because of my damn charm.
Author’s Note:
Jiang Cuo: I’m so beautiful.
Su Xianxian: (Spiritually dazed)
