Foreseeing the Future: The Scheming Film Queen and I Got Married - Chapter 8
Dong Yao froze for a moment, almost unable to keep hold of her phone.
“Both lucky audience members, please come up on stage now,” the host called with a smile.
Beside her, Lin Yunyi shook Dong Yao’s arm and shouted excitedly, “It’s you, it’s you! Stop spacing out. Hurry up, hurry up!”
The light was focused on her, and everyone’s gaze fell on her as well, including Gu Shiqiu’s from the stage.
Dong Yao clenched her hand into a fist, took a deep breath, adjusted herself, and walked toward the stage with a stiff smile on her face.
After she went on stage, the host led Dong Yao and the other lucky audience member to Gu Shiqiu’s side.
A faint fragrance drifted into her nose. Dong Yao’s eyes opened slightly. This light scent was the same as the one she had smelled in the dream.
The host asked for their names.
Dong Yao calmed down, took the microphone, and answered, “My name is Dong Yao.”
The other lucky audience member was clearly several times more excited than Dong Yao. “My name is Zhang Jiazi. I really, really like you, Shiqiu. I’m a fan of both your songs and your acting. I listen to every song of yours and watch every movie and drama you’re in. I really like you so much. Ah, I’m so excited! Can I hug you?”
Zhang Jiazi looked at her nervously.
“Of course.” Gu Shiqiu smiled faintly, walked over, and gave her a hug.
When they hugged, a wave of envious screams came from below the stage.
The hug ended as soon as it began.
Gu Shiqiu smiled lightly. “Thank you very much for liking my songs and movies.”
Zhang Jiazi’s round face had turned completely red from excitement, nervousness, and happiness.
Dong Yao quietly stood to the side, her gaze fixed on Gu Shiqiu.
As if sensing it, Gu Shiqiu’s gaze moved past Zhang Jiazi and landed on Dong Yao.
Their eyes met.
Gu Shiqiu smiled softly at her. She stood against the light, the glow casting a halo over her body.
For an instant, the people on stage vanished, and the people below the stage disappeared as well. In this place, only Gu Shiqiu and Dong Yao remained.
Dong Yao could clearly hear her heart thump twice.
Flustered, Dong Yao lowered her head.
The host said, “The lucky audience members chosen to come on stage will receive an album personally signed by Shiqiu, as well as a concert commemorative poster. Also, you may ask our Shiqiu three small questions, as long as they aren’t too excessive.”
Zhang Jiazi was the first to speak. “Shiqiu, I want to ask: when will your new album be released? When will your new drama air? Also, also, do you have any plans to fall in love?”
As soon as the question about falling in love was asked, a girlfriend fan below the stage shouted so excitedly that her voice sounded as loud as if she were holding a microphone. “Ah! I won’t allow it! Gu Shiqiu can’t fall in love! She’s my wife!!!”
“What? She’s clearly my wife, okay?”
“Stop fighting. She’s my husband!!!”
Gu Shiqiu looked toward the audience. Listening to the noisy shouts, although she did not know who had called out, she smiled gently in that direction. “Don’t worry. I don’t have any plans to date for the time being.”
As soon as she said this, another wave of screams erupted from the audience.
“My wife is so gentle! Ah, I can’t take it.”
“The new album is currently being prepared and should be released next month. I hope you’ll like it when the time comes. Rain in the Wind hasn’t been scheduled yet, so I don’t know the exact date for now. But just like you, I’m also looking forward to it,” Gu Shiqiu answered the remaining two questions.
After that, Gu Shiqiu looked at Dong Yao and waited for her three questions.
Dong Yao looked a little awkward.
Gu Shiqiu comforted her softly. “It’s all right. You can ask anything. If you really don’t have any questions, we can skip it too.”
Dong Yao had always considered herself someone who was fairly eloquent, but at this moment, her mind was completely blank. She could not think of what to ask at all.
Gu Shiqiu quietly looked at her. That gaze seemed to carry some kind of magic, unexpectedly calming her down.
Dong Yao asked, “Have you eaten dinner?”
After this question was asked, Gu Shiqiu was visibly stunned for a moment. This kind of interaction segment happened at every one of her concerts and could be considered a special feature of Gu Shiqiu’s concerts.
The fans chosen to come on stage usually asked about her new dramas, new songs, or future plans, or else they directly confessed their love to her. But asking whether she had eaten dinner—Dong Yao was truly the only one.
Gu Shiqiu laughed softly, her voice gentle. “I have.”
Dong Yao immediately asked again, “Was it good?”
Gu Shiqiu nodded. “It was pretty good.”
There was still one question left. Just when Gu Shiqiu thought she was going to ask whether she had eaten her fill, Dong Yao suddenly changed the direction of the topic. “I know how to read palms. Can I take a look at yours?”
Dong Yao felt anxious inside. Of course she did not know how to read palms. The reason she said this was because she very much wanted to confirm one thing.
Did Gu Shiqiu have a mole on her wrist or not?
If she did, then the dream was not a dream. If she did not, then the dream really was only a dream.
Gu Shiqiu paused for a moment, then spread open her hand. “Sure. Then help me take a look.”
Dong Yao held her hand. The moment she touched it, it was very cold.
The same as the sensation in the dream.
Dong Yao bit her lip and pretended to examine her palm. In truth, her gaze stopped at Gu Shiqiu’s wrist.
Dong Yao’s eyes opened slightly.
There was one.
There really was one.
And it was in the exact same position as in the dream.
Dong Yao’s grip on Gu Shiqiu’s hand tightened slightly. Her heart was beating extremely hard.
She had truly encountered the future. It was not imagination, nor was it a hallucination.
Gu Shiqiu was squeezed until it hurt, and her brows furrowed slightly.
“Did you see anything?” Gu Shiqiu’s words pulled Dong Yao’s thoughts back.
Dong Yao hurriedly let go of her hand and randomly made something up. “It’s a palm that shows a smooth and successful life.”
Gu Shiqiu chuckled. “Is that so? Then that’s a very good palm. Thank you.”
Dong Yao looked deeply at her.
Gu Shiqiu then said, “Although I don’t know how to read palms, I’m actually rather good at reading faces.”
Dong Yao blinked in confusion.
“I think your face,” Gu Shiqiu laughed softly under her breath, “is very cute.”
Before Dong Yao could react, the fans below the stage exploded first.
“Ah! Gu Shiqiu, you’re not allowed to flirt with other people! Flirt with me!!!”
