Giving You Dawn and Dusk - Chapter 2
Liang Shi left the room after she finished speaking.
She didn’t know if Xu Qingzhu believed her, but it was the only statement that could currently alleviate Xu Qingzhu’s fear.
An Alpha’s body that hasn’t bonded with an Omega feels as if it’s on fire, like a thousand needles are pricking the most vulnerable spots. Beads of sweat slid down Liang Shi’s forehead and past her cheeks.
Afraid of losing control and hurting Xu Qingzhu, Liang Shi simply went downstairs.
But as soon as her foot hit the first step, she was shocked by the sight before her.
The original host had just had a party with friends in the villa. The floor was strewn with fragments of exploded balloons, colorful streamers, and expensive red wine spilled everywhere—some on the floor, some on the white sofa. Cream was smeared all over, and there was hardly a spot to step on the natural wood floor.
A memory fragment suddenly surfaced—
“Just have fun. I’ll have my wife clean it up later.” The Scum A, Liang Shi, waved her hand dismissively, her long hair scattered, laughing casually and unrestrainedly. “Have a good time.”
“Xu Qingzhu?” Someone questioned, “Don’t you have servants? Why make Miss Xu clean up?”
“You still think of her as a ‘Miss’?” A beautiful Beta woman laughed. “If it weren’t for the Liang family, the Xu family would have gone bankrupt long ago. Now, she’s just a third-rate little company.”
Liang Shi merely chuckled.
“Are you jealous that she got to marry Liang Shi?” The person next to her provoked.
“I am,” the Beta readily admitted, but then curled her lips. “But Liang Shi is just playing with her. Once he’s tasted the flavor of Haizhou’s number one Omega, he’s definitely going to divorce her. Right, Liang Shi?”
Liang Shi raised her hand and clinked glasses with her. “Of course.”
The memory broke off.
Liang Shi frowned. She hadn’t completely accepted the original host’s memory, only a few sporadic fragments. All she knew was the main plot of the original book and a few key characters; everything else was unknown.
She was startled for a moment when her phone suddenly rang. The contact was saved as: Cheng.
Since Liang Shi had just arrived here, she didn’t dare to act rashly, so she hung up first.
But the person on the other end was persistent. On the fourth call, Liang Shi forced herself to answer, lowering her voice, “Hello.”
“Hello?” Cheng Ran was surprised. “Miss Liang, have you been conquered?”
Liang Shi remained silent.
“That’s not like you. How long ago did we leave?” Cheng Ran chuckled. “As expected of Haizhou’s number one Omega, just one night with her has taught our Miss Liang some manners.”
Liang Shi frowned, her throat dry and itchy. She coughed softly.
She knew who this ‘Cheng’ was now.
Her full name was Cheng Ran, the Alpha granddaughter of the Cheng family of Huaguang Group. She was stunningly beautiful and grew up with the original host. The two were inseparable and fellow pleasure-seekers, skilled at fawning over the powerful and trampling the weak. Many of the ideas for Liang Shi’s abuse of Xu Qingzhu in the original novel came from her, and Cheng Ran was also involved in taking Xu Qingzhu to illicit places, trading her away like an object.
Later, when Xu Qingzhu rose like a phoenix, Cheng Ran fled the country the day the original host’s scent gland was excised.
Liang Shi’s body was throbbing with unbearable pain, and she didn’t want to waste time talking to her, so she simply hung up the phone.
Cheng Ran called again, but she still didn’t answer.
Before long, Cheng Ran sent a text message.
【It’s just a little plaything. Are you actually mad at me?】
Liang Shi sent a question mark.
【Cheng Ran: Liang Shi, what women haven’t we shared before? I haven’t even touched Xu Qingzhu this time. You’re not being serious, are you? Or have you really fallen for her?】
【Liang Shi: …】
【Cheng Ran: Alright, what does not answering mean? Weren’t you going to mark Xu Qingzhu tonight while she’s in heat? She’s your person now. If you don’t like it, I won’t touch her, okay?】
Liang Shi had extracted the necessary information from her words, and combined with the fragmented memories, she generally understood what had happened.
The original host was truly trash.
Liang Shi put her phone away, stepping over the obstacles on the floor to the bathroom. She turned on the cold water and splashed her face, then looked up at the mirror.
It was a face identical to her own, but with heavy makeup: dark eyeshadow, long lash extensions that cast a heavy shadow beneath her eyes, deep red lipstick in the 999 shade, and chestnut-brown long hair draped over her shoulders. She wore a black dress, and a line of small rhinestones glittered on her exposed collarbone.
It was a completely different style from her usual self.
Liang Shi closed her eyes and touched the back of her ear. Her scent gland was burning hot. Her heart was beating at twice the normal speed. She pressed down on her chest and called the ambulance again to urge them.
Just as she hung up, the sound of a siren could be heard outside.
Liang Shi struggled to walk out. She clenched her fists and headed upstairs to the master bedroom door. The closer she got, the greater the Omega’s effect on her became. She knocked on the door, cleared her dry throat, and called out in a low voice, “Xu Qingzhu.”
“Go away,” Xu Qingzhu’s voice was suppressed, difficult, and laced with pain.
Liang Shi was now in so much pain that she sank to the floor, leaning against the wall to regulate her breathing. She tried to comfort Xu Qingzhu with a calm voice, “It’s alright, the ambulance has arrived.”
“Get out!” Xu Qingzhu threw something against the door, making a loud thud.
The suffering Omega let out a raw, desperate cry, like the final mournful call of a lone swan.
For some reason, Liang Shi felt a deep sense of empathy at that moment.
“Don’t get agitated,” Liang Shi said. “I’ll open the door.”
She dragged her shaky feet downstairs. When she opened the door, the medics initially thought she was the one who was sick, and three or four of them rushed to help her up. Liang Shi quickly waved them off. “The patient is upstairs. It’s an Omega in heat. She needs a heavy-scent suppressant.”
As times changed, Omega suppressants had evolved into various forms: injections and oral medications, each with different methods and efficacies.
Xu Qingzhu required the strongest type.
The more beautiful the Omega, the harder the heat was to endure, requiring the most potent suppressants to alleviate it.
The nurses asked worriedly, “Are you really okay? You look…”
“I’m fine,” Liang Shi shook her head, urging them, “She’s upstairs. Go save her first.”
“Don’t you need a suppressant?” the nurse inquired.
“Take care of her first. Don’t worry about me.” Liang Shi felt her body’s energy constantly being drained, her stamina nearly exhausted.
The nurses hurried upstairs, frowning at the utter mess they passed on the second floor, but they quickly recovered and knocked on the door. “Hello, we are nurses from the Haizhou City First People’s Hospital. May we come in?”
Xu Qingzhu in the room held no hope for Liang Shi.
She currently believed it was another one of Liang Shi’s tricks and yelled at the door, “Liang Shi, stop acting.”
How could Liang Shi possibly call a doctor for her?
“The heavy-scent suppressant is currently in short supply, so we need to quickly take you to the hospital,” the nurse said from outside the door. “We apologize for the intrusion.”
With that, they pushed the door open. In the dimly lit room, the Omega lay there. The intensely rich Omega pheromone in the room instantly confused everyone for a moment.
They looked over. The Omega on the bed had a cool, aloof demeanor and a beautiful appearance. Although her eyes were hazy, they were still clear and bright.
She was an almost once-in-a-century prime Omega.
“Hurry!” Someone quickly regained their senses. “The Omega pheromone concentration in the room is too high. Urgently contact the hospital to prepare the most scarce heavy-scent suppressant and immediately arrange a ward.”
Xu Qingzhu was confused, unable to believe that Liang Shi had actually found a doctor for her.
Did she change her strategy?
Regardless, Xu Qingzhu had already decided to divorce Liang Shi.
She didn’t want to live with such an unpredictable person; it was too terrifying.
Hiding all the suppressants in the house during the Omega’s heat—that was a deliberate attempt to kill her.
Xu Qingzhu, having made up her mind, saw Liang Shi as she was being escorted downstairs.
Liang Shi’s long hair was damp, her dress clung revealingly to her body, and her heavy nightclub-style makeup made her look wild, yet her expression was serious, and a sheen of sweat covered her forehead.
She was a Liang Shi completely different from usual.
Xu Qingzhu, however, couldn’t spare much thought. As she passed Liang Shi, she said coldly, “Let’s get a divorce.”
Liang Shi’s brow furrowed slightly, then, as if she hadn’t heard anything, she instructed the nurse, “You must give her the suppressant.”
Tears fell from Xu Qingzhu’s eyes. She turned her face away. “You don’t have to pretend.”
Liang Shi pursed her lips. She gave a bitter smile, knowing that nothing she said would change Xu Qingzhu’s mind, but she only wished to have a clear conscience.
She looked at the nurses and said sincerely, “Please ensure she’s alright.”
After Liang Shi finished speaking, her vision went black, and she lost consciousness.
She suddenly collapsed onto the floor.
