Holding the Sword to Carry Away Senior Sister (Transmigration) - Chapter 18
As Elder Zhou Wunan’s voice fell, everyone on the Main Peak Plaza froze for a moment.
But in the next second, everyone saw Zhou Wunan reach out into thin air and grab at nothing. A figure was instantly yanked from the perimeter of the plaza and sent flying toward the center. In an instant, every eye in the place was fixed on Fu Yan.
Fu Yan, who had been forcefully dragged over, felt a massive headache coming on. She knew Zhou Wunan’s gaze hadn’t “happened” to land on her by chance. But in the face of a Hedo stage powerhouse, she had absolutely zero power to resist.
Since Zhou Wunan had intentionally dragged her into this, Fu Yan had no way out. She could only steady herself and, steeling her nerves, look at the two elders before her.
“Disciple Fu Yan greets Elder Lin and Elder Zhou.”
After speaking, her gaze involuntarily drifted to Bai Yueli, who was standing to the side. “Senior Sister Bai.”
Seeing that Zhou Wunan had casually grabbed a disciple who was only at the Early Opening Light stage, Xu Tanzhou assumed he was being mocked. He said coldly, “What is the meaning of this?”
Elder Lin, standing nearby, also looked at Zhou Wunan with confusion. Only Bai Yueli’s eyes flickered slightly when she saw Fu Yan, seemingly a bit surprised.
“I took the liberty of checking our mission records for both the inner and outer sects before I came,” Zhou Wunan smiled casually, then explained, “Half a month ago, Fu Yan—who was still an outer disciple then—had gone to Heiquan Town for a mission.”
Heiquan Town was less than a hundred miles from the Chihei Mountains. The implication was glaringly obvious.
Hearing this, Fu Yan’s lip twitched. She didn’t believe for a second that he had “happened” to check mission records. He had likely investigated her specifically. It had only been a few days since she shattered Zhou Zhenlie’s Qi Sea; this Elder Zhou had already researched her background down to the last detail.
As Zhou Wunan finished speaking, the expressions of everyone present soured. Xu Tanzhou thought the sect was trying to pull out a random scapegoat, while Elder Lin felt that no more Shui Ling Sect disciples should be dragged into this mess.
“Fu Yan, did you go to the Chihei Mountains?” Zhou Wunan’s gaze fell on Fu Yan, his tone one of interrogation.
Fu Yan nodded with a look of feigned ignorance. “I did.”
“However, I was being hunted by the target of my mission. I was knocked unconscious while running away,” Fu Yan recounted her experience truthfully, though her peripheral vision caught Bai Yueli’s reaction. At the end, she thought for a moment and added: “At the time, I was still at the 9th Layer of the Foundation Building stage.”
“Then did you ever encounter these two disciples from the Zilan Sect?” Given the way things were heading, Elder Lin could only follow the line of questioning.
Fu Yan looked down at the two corpses as if trying to confirm something. After a long pause, she said, “I think I saw them.”
“What do you mean ‘you think’?” Zhou Wunan spoke up again in a low, ominous tone.
Fu Yan shrugged helplessly. “When I was unconscious, a mysterious expert must have saved me. By the time I woke up, I was already deep in the Chihei Mountains. On my way out, I saw two figures. They seemed to be fighting over a spiritual herb with a Bloodthirsty Ice Wolf. I hadn’t opened my Qi Sea yet, so I didn’t dare approach, but it looked like these two.”
“Enough.” Xu Tanzhou was clearly losing patience. As a Hedo stage cultivator, he obviously had no time to listen to the life story of a minor Opening Light disciple. His face darkened further. “What is the meaning of this coordinated performance? Does the grand Shui Ling Sect intend to shirk its responsibilities?”
As this now involved the face of the entire sect, Elder Lin’s gaze turned stern, carrying a hint of warning. “I suggest Elder Xu watch his words. There is currently no evidence to show that our disciples killed your people. How can you speak of shirking responsibility?”
“You…” Xu Tanzhou was so angry he couldn’t find the words to respond.
At that moment, Bai Yueli, who had remained silent until now, finally spoke. “Elder Xu, have you closely inspected the wounds on these two?”
“What do you mean, girl?” Xu Tanzhou turned his spear toward Bai Yueli again, his eyes turning cold.
Bai Yueli remained unruffled, explaining calmly, “I inspected his wound just now. He died of… a Heart-Piercing Strike.”
“What? A Heart-Piercing Strike?”
As Bai Yueli’s words landed, the faces of those present filled with shock.
A Heart-Piercing Strike is something only a sword cultivator can comprehend. It’s not necessarily that it’s the most powerful move, but that it’s extremely difficult to grasp. It requires the realm of “Man and Sword as One,” where the wielder and the blade resonate perfectly to produce that single strike.
In the entire Northern Region, sword cultivators who have truly mastered the Heart-Piercing Strike are as rare as phoenix feathers.
“I was fortunate enough to see a senior use a Heart-Piercing Strike once, so I recognized it. I believe there must be people in the Zilan Sect who recognize it as well. If Elder Xu doesn’t believe me, you can ask around when you return,” Bai Yueli explained slowly.
After she finished, just as she was about to retract her gaze, she noticed Fu Yan. For a split second, Fu Yan’s eyes had gone blank upon hearing the words “Heart-Piercing Strike.”
Bai Yueli also froze for a tiny moment.
Because everyone else’s attention was fixed on the Heart-Piercing Strike, no one noticed the brief exchange between the two.
Xu Tanzhou had originally thought that even if he couldn’t destroy Bai Yueli today, he could at least skin the Shui Ling Sect for a reward. He hadn’t expected to be made a laughingstock instead.
Everyone knew Bai Yueli hadn’t mastered the Heart-Piercing Strike. If an Opening Light cultivator had mastered such a move, her fame would have already eclipsed the entire Northern Region. This indirectly proved she had nothing to do with the matter.
Though Xu Tanzhou was furious and his face had been dark from the start, he could only take the two corpses and leave the Shui Ling Sect’s Main Peak in a hurry.
Zhou Wunan had wanted to push Fu Yan into the eye of the storm. Although he disdained dealing with a little girl at the Early Opening Light stage, the matter of Zhou Zhenlie couldn’t just be forgotten. However, his actions just now had already invited Elder Lin’s dissatisfaction. To avoid further criticism, Zhou Wunan could only turn and leave.
Fu Yan finally snapped out of it, her heart racing. She hadn’t realized that the lucky strike she had unleashed that day was actually a Heart-Piercing Strike. No wonder she hadn’t been able to replicate it no matter how hard she tried lately.
Elder Lin and Bai Yueli didn’t linger either and soon departed.
“I told you the Zilan Sect was slandering Senior Sister Bai. They came up here all aggressive and ended up scurrying away like cowards.”
“Hahaha, exactly! Seeing the Zilan Sect get humiliated makes my day!”
“Hey, what’s a Heart-Piercing Strike?”
“God, you’re stupid…”
As the crowd dispersed, only Fu Yan was left standing alone in the massive plaza. In her mind, the voice transmission Bai Yueli had sent her just before leaving echoed again:
“Tonight at midnight, come to my courtyard.”
Fu Yan: “???”
