Married the Second Generation Fox Demon with a Baby in a Flash Marriage - Chapter 51
“Old Turtle, it really is you! How are you not dead yet!” The gray rat demon known as Shuo Rat was shocked to see the slowly moving tortoise. His body tensed and his gaze became guarded.
The tortoise appeared to have no offensive capability. Hu Qingqing and the cat demon looked at it with confusion; they had clearly felt a sense of danger just moments ago, but now it was gone, as if it had been their imagination.
However, that instinctive reaction left them uneasy. They felt a lingering urge to flee, yet a sliver of hope remained—after all, they had several demons on their side, and Shuo Rat’s level was quite high. Could they really not handle one slow-moving old turtle?
Aside from having a long lifespan, the skills of a tortoise demon were generally considered minimal.
“Since you’re all still alive, how could I be dead? When you come to the Ye family’s territory, how could I not come to greet you? You were discussing capturing someone—who might that be? I’m old, and my hearing is failing me,” the turtle said, continuing its slow crawl. Its eyes, half-hidden behind several layers of wrinkled skin, looked toward the gray rat without joy or anger.
“I just didn’t want to disturb you. Heh, Old Turtle. You look quite energetic. I heard your legs were ruined in that incident ten years ago. You haven’t come out for so many years; why are you free today?” Shuo Rat spoke with forced joviality, his eyes flashing as he scrutinized the turtle, seemingly trying to see through it.
“I’m not so old that I wouldn’t know when an old ‘friend’ arrives. If you’re here for a tour, I’ll send someone to be your guide and treat you well. But if you’re here to cause trouble, do me a favor and wait until I’m dead,” the turtle replied.
This turtle was the contracted demon of the Ye family’s patriarch, Grandpa Ye—a tortoise that had cultivated into a demon.
Although Grandpa Ye had stopped handling demon-hunting matters himself in recent years due to his health, leaving everything to Ye Xinyu, he remained vigilant against high-tier demons. This Shuo Rat was one of the demons Grandpa Ye kept a close eye on; he was very familiar with its aura and had sensed it the moment it entered Fengcheng. Whenever a demon with cultivation higher than Ye Xinyu’s intruded upon Ye family territory, the old man would find a way to resolve it for her.
“Old Turtle, it’s been so many years. Haven’t you had enough of being the Ye family’s watchdog? Look at you; the ‘human aura’ on your body is becoming stronger and stronger. In a few more years, will you even be a demon or a human?” Shuo Rat lamented.
“I protect the Ye family, you protect the Ou family. What’s the difference? Either leave this place, or come and test me to see if I’m truly too old to be useful,” the turtle said, staring at Shuo Rat.
“Fine! What can an old turtle really do?” Just as the tortoise finished speaking, a man’s voice rang out. Ou Shixing appeared on the second floor of the factory, holding a gun in one hand and a suitcase in the other.
As he spoke, he pulled the trigger, aiming directly at the turtle’s head. Shuo Rat was horrified; it had intended to talk more with the turtle to find a weakness. It hadn’t expected this young master to open fire immediately, shattering the atmosphere of mutual testing.
The tortoise was sluggish, but it simply retracted its neck, precisely dodging the bullet. The bullet struck the side of its shell, leaving no mark whatsoever.
“That shell is pretty hard! Then stay hidden in there and don’t come out! Uncle Shuo, bind it with these iron chains! Let’s see what tricks it can pull then!” Ou Shixing took a silver-white chain from the suitcase and threw it down.
Seeing the turtle retracted into its shell, Shuo Rat caught the chains and was forced to make a move. The pretense of civility could no longer be maintained.
Shuo Rat threw the chains, but before they could touch the turtle, the turtle shifted and precisely dodged them again. Upon closer inspection, Shuo Rat realized that there were wheel-like objects attached beneath the turtle—like a small hoverboard. No wonder it could still walk despite its rumored crippled legs; it was using human high-technology.
“You two, help me catch it! There’s a reward if we catch it!” Shuo Rat shouted, calling for the cat demon and Hu Qingqing to help.
Hu Qingqing watched for a moment. Seeing that the turtle could do nothing but hide its head, she decided it was nothing special. She leaped up to assist Shuo Rat, and the cat demon joined in for the reward. Yet, as if the turtle shell had eyes, these demons—all known for their speed—were unable to catch it for a long time.
It was only when the three demons completely surrounded the turtle that they finally cornered it.
“It’s an empty shell!” Hu Qingqing was the first to grab the turtle, only to find the inside was hollow.
Shuo Rat moved in for a look, but before it could figure out what was happening, the shell suddenly expanded.
Damn! Shuo Rat cursed internally. It had the highest cultivation and the fastest reactions. Being small, it violently pushed off the cat demon to gain momentum and flew a great distance away.
When it looked back, the turtle shell had shrunk back to its original size. Hu Qingqing and the cat demon were now trapped inside the shell, their heads poking out from the holes where the turtle’s head and feet should have been. The two struggled, but they couldn’t break free.
Accompanied by a burst of dark energy, the shell actually took flight, soaring toward Shuo Rat. Terrified, Shuo Rat leaped toward Ou Shixing.
“Let’s go!” Shuo Rat yelled. Surrounded by black mist, its body grew slightly larger as it grabbed Ou Shixing and fled. The shell flew for a certain distance, only stopping once Shuo Rat and Ou Shixing had escaped in a car outside. The dark energy on the shell significantly faded.
“Let me go! Let me go! I have no grudge against you, why did you catch me!” Hu Qingqing screamed as she struggled.
“I have no interest in dealing with minor demons like you. However, now that you’re caught, I shall naturally hand you over to the Little Master. Coincidentally, the Little Master lacks a contracted demon, and your cultivation is decent; I’ll ask if she wants you. This is your good fortune,” an aged voice spoke. A tortoise identical to the previous one slowly crawled out from the same direction in the factory.
“Is the Little Master you’re talking about the female demon hunter from the Ye family? She already has a contracted demon! It’s a six-tailed fox demon who is even stronger than me! She wouldn’t look twice at someone like me,” Hu Qingqing said hurriedly.
“She has a contracted demon? How come I didn’t know?” the turtle asked, looking at Hu Qingqing with suspicion.
“If you release me, I’ll tell you a big secret,” Hu Qingqing said, her eyes darting.
“What else do you know? You dare to bargain with me?!” The turtle’s eyes widened slightly, and the turtle shell shrank, crushing Hu Qingqing and making her scream.
“Ahhh! Stop, let go! I’ll talk, I’ll talk!” Hu Qingqing shrieked. The pressure from the shell made her feel like she was being turned into a meat patty.
“Speak!” the turtle commanded. The “Zen-like” aura from before was gone, replaced by a distinct killing intent.
“That Little Master of yours… she was bedded by the Fox Princess of our Mount Qi main branch, and she’s pregnant with a hybrid demon fetus! You demon hunters really say one thing and do another,” Hu Qingqing blurted out.
During her days on the run, she had encountered local demons and knew a bit about the structure of demon hunters in Fengcheng. She naturally knew Ye Xinyu’s name—the Ye family was the top Hidden Sect in Fengcheng, and Ye Xinyu was the most powerful hunter in recent years. The demons of Fengcheng trembled at the mention of her name.
But they didn’t know about Ye Xinyu’s condition. Ye Xinyu was only a few months pregnant, so it wasn’t visible yet. Even Ye Xinyu herself had only found out after visiting a specialized Taoist doctor. Hu Qingqing had only sensed the presence of her own kind when she had physical contact with Ye Xinyu.
Originally, Hu Qingqing wouldn’t have told anyone the secret of the hybrid fetus. She had wanted to wait for an opportunity to benefit from it herself. The value of a hybrid demon fetus was immense—worth the risk. She had even come here today at Shuo Rat’s summons with that intention.
She just hadn’t expected a “Cheng Yaojin” to appear out of nowhere. This Ye family demon was so powerful it had scared off Shuo Rat, who was even stronger than her. Now that she was captured and it didn’t look like she’d be released, she could only use the secret to try and trade for her life.
“What did you say?! Is what you said true!” The turtle appeared profoundly shocked and enraged.
“I’m not lying, it’s true. I felt it myself. A demon fetus—a hybrid human-demon fetus. That is no small matter. I don’t know if you’ve heard of a certain formula… I can see you’re very old, even for a tortoise, and your legs are injured. With my formula, once that hybrid fetus is refined, I guarantee you’ll return to your youth and your injuries will heal. Just let me go! We are both demons, I wouldn’t lie to you,” Hu Qingqing pleaded.
“Hmph!” The turtle snorted coldly. It didn’t release Hu Qingqing. Instead, it chanted something and spat out strands of black mist. The turtle shell shrank further, completely encasing Hu Qingqing and the cat demon. It hovered slowly toward the turtle and followed it out.
Outside the factory, a black sedan was parked. An old man sat inside, appearing to be asleep. He remained motionless with his eyes closed until the turtle reached the car. As the door opened automatically, the turtle stopped. The old man in the car opened his eyes; his gaze was remarkably similar to the turtle’s—both were filled with fury.
Ye Xinyu, Hu Mengmeng, and the others arrived near the northern suburbs. The area was desolate, filled with abandoned factories and a polluted river with a foul smell.
“This place is quite bleak and huge, with so many abandoned buildings. I wonder where she could be. Do we really have to search room by room?” Gu Yiying frowned as she surveyed the area.
“Sister, do you feel like something is wrong? It’s too quiet. Not even ordinary small animals are around,” Hu Mengmeng whispered to Ye Xinyu alertly.
“It is a bit strange. Wait—that car belongs to the Ye family. Gu Yiying, speed up and let’s go check it out.” Ye Xinyu watched the surroundings and was surprised to see a black sedan turn out from a corner. The Ye family didn’t have many members or many cars. Ye Xinyu knew where Huo Zhilan had gone; for a Ye family car to appear here… could it be Grandpa?
Gu Yiying drove closer to the sedan. Ye Xinyu got out and waved her hand, and the car stopped.
“Grandpa?! Why are you here?” The window rolled down, and Ye Xinyu was stunned to see the man inside. It really was her grandfather, Ye Shoutian.
“Xinyu, get in the car!” Ye Shoutian said. His expression seemed to be suppressing some emotion, his face tense.
“Grandpa, what’s wrong?” Ye Xinyu asked in surprise. It had been many years since he had looked at her with such a look.
“Just get in!” he commanded.
Seeing how serious he was, Ye Xinyu looked back at Gu Yiying and Hu Mengmeng, waved her hand to signal them, and climbed into her grandfather’s car. The moment she entered, the doors locked and the windows rolled up tight.
“Grandpa, what is really going on?” Ye Xinyu felt that something was very wrong.
“Give me your hand!” Ye Shoutian said.
“Grandpa?!” Ye Xinyu retracted her hand slightly, a bad premonition rising within her.
Ye Shoutian grabbed her retracted hand and placed his fingers on her wrist to check her pulse. After just a moment, his face turned black with rage. He swung his hand and slapped Ye Xinyu across the face.
“Ye Xinyu!” Ye Shoutian glared at her, his expression thunderous.
