Oh No, Senior Sister Cultivates The Heartless Dao - Chapter 1
In the dark, silent cave, two figures in white were barely visible through the mist.
Cold sweat beaded on Qin Zhiyue’s skin. She swallowed as she watched the woman sitting about ten feet away, then quietly edged a little farther to the side.
Even with her eyes closed, the woman radiated the oppressive presence of a Golden Core cultivator. It seeped through the air and settled over Qin Zhiyue, making her feel as though danger were closing in.
“Senior Sister…” After holding back for a long time, Qin Zhiyue finally hugged her knees and called to her cautiously.
Xiao Weimian’s chin moved slightly. She opened her phoenix eyes halfway and glanced sideways at Qin Zhiyue. Sweat had brought a faint flush to her flawlessly beautiful face, lending her an austere allure. But the frightening crimson in her eyes made Qin Zhiyue’s lips tremble.
“Are you all right? Hang on a little longer, Senior Sister… Senior Brother Wen and the others should be here soon!” Qin Zhiyue’s usually lazy, listless voice rose to an uncharacteristic pitch.
Xiao Weimian kept her eyes half closed and bit her lip against wave after wave of heat. It felt as if a furnace had been placed in her dantian, its fire spreading through every limb and bone until her head swam. How else could she think that the woman before her gave off such an enticing scent?
Qin Zhiyue clenched her hands. Whenever she was nervous, she could not stop herself from talking. In the present atmosphere, she had the distinct feeling that if she did not say something, she might not even get the chance to leave any last words.
“I-I-I… should I move farther away? This cave really is a bit small, though. I’ve honestly gone as far as I can, Senior Sister. Please don’t hold it against me…” she said stiffly.
“Shut up.”
Xiao Weimian finally snapped at her, but her voice trembled at the end. It was a far cry from her usual calm, distant manner.
Qin Zhiyue silently closed her mouth. She tried so hard to put more distance between them that she pressed herself against the cave wall. The rough stone scraped painfully at her back even through her enchanted robes. Then the ground suddenly lurched. Her eyes widened, and before she could steady herself, she pitched straight toward Xiao Weimian.
Oh no!
Qin Zhiyue’s heart went cold. Xiao Weimian was sure to throw her off. Everyone in the sect knew their Senior Sister was fastidious about cleanliness. Forget being grabbed in a full embrace—even if someone brushed her sleeve, she would burn the whole outfit.
Despite that thought, momentum sent Qin Zhiyue’s arms around the slender woman in white. A cool fragrance filled her nose and lungs as she breathed. It smelled so good that she could not resist taking another deep breath. As expected of Senior Sister—
Wait. Why hadn’t she been thrown off?!
Qin Zhiyue went rigid and struggled to lift her head toward Xiao Weimian. The woman was still seated in meditation. Above her pale neck was an elegant chin; her lightly colored lips were pressed together, and her dark brows were faintly drawn. Black hair fell down her back, while the white jade hairpin atop her head had not shifted at all, even in her current disheveled state.
Qin Zhiyue’s heart was still pounding. Once she gathered her wits, she realized Xiao Weimian’s entire body was burning hot. Tiny, glistening droplets clung to her long lashes. Qin Zhiyue could not tell whether they were sweat or tears. Without thinking, she leaned closer, her uneven breaths falling across Xiao Weimian’s lips and cheeks.
Before Qin Zhiyue could make out the droplets, she abruptly found herself staring into a pair of dark phoenix eyes shot through with crimson…
She jolted and instinctively tipped backward. An arm immediately caught her around the waist. Before she could finish breathing a sigh of relief, Xiao Weimian seized her shoulder and pinned her firmly against the cave wall.
Pain flared across Qin Zhiyue’s back where it struck the stone, making her grimace. She was about to speak when that distinctive cool fragrance engulfed her. Softness pressed against her lips, and her mind went blank with a buzz.
Wait. Wait. Was Xiao Weimian kissing her?!
The hands Qin Zhiyue had braced against Xiao Weimian’s shoulders went weak from the shock. She parted her lips slightly, and Xiao Weimian’s tongue seized the opening, pushing into her mouth as though she could not wait to swallow Qin Zhiyue whole.
Qin Zhiyue went numb. It was as if lightning had struck her squarely on the head and shattered her ability to think.
By the time she thought to resist, Xiao Weimian already had her completely under control. Qin Zhiyue met her eyes in astonishment. She could not deny that even lost in desire, Xiao Weimian had a breathtaking allure all her own. No wonder she was widely acknowledged as the most beautiful woman in the cultivation world.
Unfortunately, that beauty had a junior martial brother who was also her childhood friend, and they seemed quite close…
Childhood friend?
Those words hit Qin Zhiyue like a blow to the head and brought back some of her reason. Right. Xiao Weimian might not know what she was doing, but Qin Zhiyue was not affected by the gu poison. She had truly let beauty go to her head.
Struggling with all her strength, Qin Zhiyue finally found an opening and pushed Xiao Weimian away. She had barely regained her freedom and started to lunge forward when Xiao Weimian frowned and flung her to the ground.
The force sent Qin Zhiyue crashing into a stone. Warm, wet liquid ran from the back of her head. The pain drained the color from her face, and a wave of nausea and dizziness made her want to retch.
Memories surged up from the depths of her mind, overwhelming her.
She remembered!
“Xiao Weimian, don’t—”
Xiao Weimian’s lips and tongue swallowed the rest of her words. Qin Zhiyue struggled where she lay on the ground. Even when she tried to raise her legs, Xiao Weimian, stripped of all reason, pinned them down with her body. She forced both of Qin Zhiyue’s wrists above her head and held them there. That enticing cool fragrance now felt like a deadly poison.
Qin Zhiyue’s heart hammered as if it might burst from her chest, and mounting panic brought out a cold sweat. In a few moments, their fellow disciples would arrive, think she had forced herself on Senior Sister, and then Senior Sister’s childhood friend would run her through with a sword.
It was not that she could see the future. The truth was that the world she had lived in for decades was a novel—and, most absurdly, one she had written herself.
She did not particularly mind transmigrating into cannon fodder who died in the first three chapters. But did her memories really have to return five minutes before her death? Come on, rushing to meet a deadline could get someone killed!
Besides, this was Xiao Weimian. She had never been the harmless, unattainable Senior Sister she seemed to be!
How could a cold-blooded madwoman who cultivated the Heartless Dao be easy to deal with?
Qin Zhiyue pulled her thoughts together and suppressed her emotions. She had no room left for romantic notions. Narrowing her eyes, she bit down hard on the tongue still moving inside her mouth. Blood and sharp pain brought a flicker of awareness back to Xiao Weimian’s unfocused eyes.
Now!
Qin Zhiyue gathered every bit of spiritual energy in her dantian and struck Xiao Weimian’s vital point with all her might. The blow carried unmistakable killing intent. Xiao Weimian’s eyes sharpened, and she thrust her sword at Qin Zhiyue, who rolled aside.
Though she had dodged it, Qin Zhiyue’s face turned pale. She looked at Xiao Weimian, who seemed faintly surprised that the sword had missed. Xiao Weimian tilted her head, then walked toward her one step at a time, sword in hand.
“Senior Sister!”
Qin Zhiyue’s expression darkened. She was only an outer disciple at the Qi Refining stage. Dodging one attack had taken all the protection her ancestors could offer from beyond the grave. If the male lead did not arrive soon, she was likely to die here.
To her surprise, Xiao Weimian did not kill her. A hint of confusion crossed her cold face. Then she reached out and loosely closed her hand around Qin Zhiyue’s throat.
Every hair on Qin Zhiyue’s body stood on end. Xiao Weimian’s gesture seemed less like an attempt to kill her than an attempt to take complete control of her.
Silence suddenly fell. Qin Zhiyue held herself rigid as Xiao Weimian leaned in. Her pale, jade-like face drew slowly closer, and an icy sensation shot from Qin Zhiyue’s neck to the top of her head.
This was the scene Wen Yixi and the others found when they arrived. He could not help feeling that something about it was strangely off.
They were too close. Xiao Weimian had never let anyone near her like that, even if she did appear to be out of her senses now.
“Um… Senior Brother Wen, is Senior Sister all right?” a junior sister in the stunned crowd asked haltingly. She could hardly tear her eyes away from the scene before her.
“Help! Senior Brother Wen, help me! Senior Sister’s trying to kill me! Cough… that hurts…” The moment Qin Zhiyue noticed the others, tears sprang from her eyes and she shouted as if she had found a lifeline.
She was not the one taking liberties with Xiao Weimian now. Surely they could not take her life for it?
But before she could finish speaking, the grip on her throat suddenly tightened. It did not quite stop her from breathing, but it hurt enough. Perhaps it was her imagination, but Xiao Weimian seemed unhappy.
Wen Yixi gave Qin Zhiyue a cold look filled with disdain. An outer disciple whose name he did not even know dared to say such a thing in front of him.
At least a dozen disciples were present, Wen Yixi among them. All watched Xiao Weimian with concern. Not one cared whether Qin Zhiyue might die before their eyes in the next instant.
Qin Zhiyue lowered her gaze and sighed helplessly to herself. No wonder the cannon fodder in the original novel had been stabbed to death. In the cultivation world, strength ruled. Beside someone as gifted as Xiao Weimian, a mere outer disciple counted for little. Naturally, there was no such thing as fairness for her.
“Senior Sister, wake up… It’s me.” Wen Yixi softened his expression and approached Xiao Weimian step by step, his eyes full of concern.
The sight made Qin Zhiyue’s heart sink. These people clearly had no intention of caring whether she lived or died. As Wen Yixi drew closer, Xiao Weimian’s grip grew tighter. Her face turning blue, Qin Zhiyue dug her fingertips desperately into Xiao Weimian’s wrist.
Even through the rare Tianguang Silk, Qin Zhiyue could feel the heat of Xiao Weimian’s skin, hot as flame against her own cold fingertips.
Xiao Weimian had evidently felt that cool touch too. Her grip loosened slightly, and under everyone’s gaze, she drew Qin Zhiyue into her arms. Her beautiful face, lovely as the autumn moon, moved slowly toward Qin Zhiyue’s chin.
A fierce glint crossed Qin Zhiyue’s eyes. She suddenly reached up and gripped Xiao Weimian’s chin firmly, giving her a slight smile. A flash of seductive warmth transformed a face that, among the sect’s cultivators, was usually considered merely plain and delicate. Even Xiao Weimian’s vacant eyes trembled.
At that very moment, Qin Zhiyue drove her palm straight into Xiao Weimian’s vital point and retreated as fast as she could. Her escape was rather undignified: she tumbled and scrambled away in a posture no one could have expected, stopping only when she was a safe distance off.
The corners of the onlookers’ mouths twitched. They all felt embarrassed on the outer disciple’s behalf.
“Senior Sister!”
“Senior Sister…”
Cries rang out, and Wen Yixi was the first to rush forward. Qin Zhiyue rubbed her aching wrist, which she had wrenched out of place, and looked toward the center of the crowd. She tugged at her lips, unconcerned. Leaving the female lead’s side really was like leaving the center of the world. At that moment, not a single person spared her a glance.
Xiao Weimian raised her sword. The look she gave her fellow disciples was murderous, unlike her usual cool, distant gaze. This time, she truly would kill them!
Qin Zhiyue wriggled toward the exit. She had no desire to play the considerate junior sister. If she did not run now, when would she? She had just managed to get to her feet outside the cave when she heard a thunderous crash. The cave had collapsed completely…
Good thing she had crawled fast enough.
Qin Zhiyue’s taut nerves finally relaxed, and she dropped onto her backside. Patting her chest, she thought how close she had come to being trapped beneath it. She was the only Qi Refining disciple there, after all, which made her the most likely to die…
