Pretending To Be Affectionate [Transmigration] - Chapter 12
Winter in Yuncheng brought savage snowstorms and biting winds.
The wind and snow that had finally stopped several days ago began falling heavily again around noon.
Ling Yu curled up in her dining chair and lazily watched the fine snowflakes beyond the transparent window.
Gu Qing stood in a corner about a hundred meters from the restaurant, speaking on the phone.
The person on the other end had seemingly told her about some difficult problem. Standing alone amid the wind and snow, the slender woman frowned tightly.
Her face was frozen with displeasure. When her two lips met, the snowflake resting upon them instantly melted into a tiny droplet. Under the dim daylight, it resembled a drop of blood from a beautiful woman’s heart.
Ling Yu’s gaze involuntarily lingered on her for two additional seconds.
As though sensing it, Gu Qing looked through the curtain of falling snow. Between the strangely shaped gaps among the snowflakes, her cool eyes collided directly with Ling Yu’s.
Ling Yu lazily curved her eyes.
Fragments of light gathered within them, covering them with mist, as though she could hold someone against her heart with a single gaze.
Gu Qing’s eyes froze.
A moment later, she casually withdrew her gaze.
Ling Yu watched as Gu Qing turned aside and presented her with her back!
She displayed her dislike for Ling Yu openly and without the slightest reservation.
The smile on Ling Yu’s lips faded.
She touched her cheek and carefully examined the fair, delicately beautiful face reflected in the glass window.
A moment later, she tilted her head, stared at Li Jun, and abruptly asked, “Is there something dirty on my face?”
Li Jun shook his head.
“How could there be?”
The woman beside the dining table possessed skin as smooth and fair as porcelain. A fluffy knitted scarf encircled her neck, and her palm-sized face was buried within it.
Her foxlike eyes appeared to contain an entire galaxy. Beneath her playful beauty lay an irresistible, bewitching allure.
Li Jun stared until his eyes became fixed. His heart fluttered, and his gaze toward Ling Yu unconsciously grew cloying and possessive.
“Yuyu, no matter what you look like, I only love the person you are. In my eyes, even if your face were covered in dust, you would still be a goddess capable of captivating my soul.”
A goddess?
Ugh!
Only Li Jun could produce such painfully greasy sweet talk.
When his psychological illness flared up, it was as though his mouth had been invaded by an enormous oil field.
Ling Yu had already endured Li Jun’s unbearably greasy harassment before, yet her stomach still churned now.
She narrowed her eyes, picked up the warm water beside her, and took a large sip.
Across from her, Li Jun continued confessing without giving up.
“Yuyu, listen to me…”
“Well said.”
Ling Yu interrupted him and even applauded.
Encouraged, Li Jun’s gaze became even more passionate.
Ling Yu gave him an ambiguous smile.
“Back then, I was just as hopelessly devoted as you. But then it rained. Guess what happened?”
Li Jun made a questioning sound.
“Want to know?”
When Ling Yu saw him nod, his gaze practically glued to her body, she lowered her head and filled the glass beside her with hot water.
Then she calmly stood and raised her arm, preparing to throw the entire glass directly into the man’s face.
Suddenly, the light before her dimmed, and the scent of wind and snow entered her nose.
Ling Yu’s violent movement abruptly stopped.
Unable to retract her hand in time, she forcibly changed its direction and regretfully poured the water into the flowerpot beside her feet.
Gu Qing stood beside the table, her ice-blue coat draped over one arm.
Her complexion did not look particularly good. Specks of snow clung to her raven-black lashes, making her entire body appear steeped in frost.
Gu Qing’s gaze drifted lightly toward Li Jun, but her question was directed at Ling Yu.
“What happened afterward?”
Ling Yu froze.
She kicked the flowerpot and replied pointedly, “The seed drowned.”
She had assumed Gu Qing was asking casually.
Unexpectedly, Gu Qing gave a faint hum, picked up a glass of water, and looked toward Ling Yu with complete seriousness—as though she genuinely intended to investigate how a seed could be drowned.
“Drowned how? Like this?”
After speaking, she bent her wrist.
Then, as though her fingers had slipped, whether deliberately or accidentally, the glass brushed past Li Jun’s body and struck his polished leather shoes with a loud crash.
Li Jun was so frightened that he could not utter a word.
Gu Qing’s gaze was cold enough to seep into one’s bones.
She looked sideways at Li Jun, who sat beside Ling Yu. No emotion could be found within her dark-blue pupils.
Then she tapped the table before him.
“My apologies. I’ve wet the floor beside your feet. Would you mind changing seats?”
Arrogance had always been embedded in Gu Qing’s bones. Even when she apologized, one could not detect the slightest sincerity.
Ling Yu almost had the illusion that she was deliberately embarrassing Li Jun.
Had Ling Yu not misinterpreted Gu Qing’s actions so many times already, she might genuinely have believed Gu Qing was defending her.
Ling Yu felt like laughing.
So she did.
Gu Qing glanced at her before allowing her gaze to drift lightly back toward Li Jun.
At 175 centimeters tall, she looked down at him from above. Even with her “sincere” apologetic attitude, Li Jun could not withstand such an icy stare.
He exhaled and instinctively lowered his head before Gu Qing.
“It’s all right. N-no…there’s no need to trouble yourself…”
“It’s no trouble. You’re merely changing seats.”
Gu Qing interrupted him and explained seriously, “I spilled the water, so there’s no reason you should have to endure the inconvenience. Besides, if President Li’s trousers happened to get wet and you walked outside with everything…bulging so visibly, it would be rather embarrassing.”
Li Jun’s expression changed.
He instinctively stood and surrendered his seat. However, when he looked down, his crotch was as dry as before.
There was merely a puddle beside his feet. His trousers had not gotten wet at all.
Li Jun opened his mouth to explain.
Gu Qing had already pushed him aside and occupied his seat.
She raised her head slightly.
“Was there something else?”
Li Jun choked.
Gu Qing appeared perfectly candid. Thinking carefully, he realized that she had said, “If your crotch happened to get wet,” rather than claiming it was actually wet.
He had overthought her words and lost his composure.
Li Jun’s face instantly turned scarlet.
Ling Yu was delighted.
Gu Qing had always been remarkably scheming. Although Ling Yu did not know why she was tormenting Li Jun, she found it extremely entertaining.
For the first time, she laughed aloud without the slightest pretense.
Hearing her laughter, Li Jun’s face alternated between pale and dark.
Gu Qing’s gaze briefly swept across Ling Yu’s eyes before withdrawing with exceptional speed.
Ling Yu sighed.
[I think she looks at Li Jun more often than she looks at me…]
008 replied:
[Host, this isn’t about what you think. It’s about what I think. Gu Qing was defending you just now! That was so sweet… Shipping the two of you is incredibly sweet…]
[Watching her torment me is sweet?]
Ling Yu replied:
[There’s something seriously wrong with you.]
