Returning to the Villain Omega's High School Days - Chapter 11
The Su family lived in the bustling downtown area of Rongcheng.
It was very close to the university and only a ten-minute drive from Shihai High School.
Their house was an old duplex with a courtyard, and everyone living in the area worked for government agencies.
In his generation, almost all of Su’s father’s siblings and cousins were politicians and officials.
Some made their fortune in the capital, while others were leaders in the province or at schools.
Only Su Xingheng’s father chose to go into business.
Although he had a bit of a reputation, he was far less powerful than his other siblings and cousins.
His house was given to him by his second brother, his wife was introduced by a cousin, and his company’s projects were secured by his sister.
Even so, his company often faced a cash flow crisis and couldn’t pay salaries, so he had to borrow money from his father-in-law, who was a bank manager.
Su’s father was never proud of the resources he received.
On the contrary, he felt he couldn’t hold his head up among his siblings and could never escape his relatives’ control.
He wanted to make his company big on his own but didn’t have the strength.
He wanted to stand up for himself but was always living off his wife’s family.
Therefore, his lifelong hope rested entirely on Su Xingheng.
Fortunately, his son was a “chosen one.”
With very little effort, he won the favor of the eldest daughter of the Xie family.
Just the engagement to the Xie family alone gave him a lot of face among his peers!
As Xie Ning’s car drove into the community, Aunt Zhang, the housekeeper, saw her from the balcony.
Before Xie Ning even got downstairs, Aunt Zhang was already waiting at the courtyard gate.
The car stopped, and Aunt Zhang went to open the back door.
Xie Ning also opened the door and got out, telling Aunt Zhang, “They didn’t ride with me today.”
Seeing that the back seat was empty, Aunt Zhang realized what Xie Ning had said.
She wondered, “Oh, what happened today? The young master and young lady aren’t in the car, so why did you come, Miss Xie?”
Xie Ning had already prepared her excuse.
She said, “We had a little argument after school. I’m a bit worried, so I wanted to come and check on them.”
With that, she walked past Aunt Zhang into the courtyard and toward the house.
Aunt Zhang followed her, saying anxiously, “What are you worried about, Miss Xie? Our young master and young lady aren’t even home yet!”
Xie Ning had already pushed open the Su family’s door and was standing at the entrance, looking inside.
The entryway connected to the living room.
She could see the stairs, dining table, sofa, balcony, and a mahjong table.
The tabletop was tidy, but the overall look was very cluttered.
Especially with the liver-red furniture and the strange Nordic-style ceiling, everything looked exactly as Xie Ning remembered.
But before she opened this door, she had imagined Wanwan standing in the living room, looking at her with those deer-like eyes and giving her a dewy smile.
Not seeing Wanwan made Xie Ning feel even more anxious.
She didn’t know how she should face her, but as long as she knew Wanwan was not doing well, Xie Ning couldn’t be at peace.
“The young master and young lady aren’t back yet!” Aunt Zhang wiped her hands on her apron and said with a smile, “Would you like to come in and wait for them? I’ll make you some tea!”
Xie Ning ignored her.
She couldn’t directly ask Aunt Zhang about Su Wan; that would seem too strange.
People would wonder why Xie Ning was suddenly concerned about someone she had never met.
She walked into the living room with her shoes on, looking around.
Someone was busy in the kitchen.
She pushed the door open and saw a foreign man dressed as a chef, chopping vegetables.
He politely smiled at Xie Ning and handed her a piece of sliced grape.
He greeted her in French, and Xie Ning replied in French, “Où est cet enfant?” (“Where is that child?”)
“The new one,” Xie Ning added.
The man understood, pointed outside the door, and said something that Xie Ning couldn’t fully understand.
Aunt Zhang couldn’t understand at all.
She came over with the tea and asked, confused, “What did you say to him?”
Xie Ning didn’t drink the tea and waved her hand, saying, “I don’t know.”
Aunt Zhang stood beside her, observing Xie Ning with her triangular eyes.
After a moment, she took a sip of tea and said, “Do you want to stay for dinner? I’ll go tell our madam.”
Xie Ning asked, “Is Madam upstairs?”
“Yes,” Aunt Zhang said with a smile. “She wants to eat pizza tonight. You can stay and eat with us. Our chef was hired from France, and as you know, French cooking is second to none!”
Xie Ning raised an eyebrow and took the opportunity to ask, “Is that okay? Won’t there be too many people tonight?”
“Oh, don’t worry,” Aunt Zhang said. “There’s definitely enough room for you!”
“Uncle Ling is still waiting for me outside, and he probably hasn’t eaten either,” Xie Ning said. “With Uncle Ling, is there still enough room?”
Aunt Zhang looked a little hesitant.
Xie Ning smiled and said, “Did someone new move into your house recently?”
Aunt Zhang didn’t want to gossip in front of Xie Ning.
She stammered, and Xie Ning said, “I’ve already heard. I just haven’t seen the new sister. Where is she?”
“She just went out,” Aunt Zhang said with a smile, then paused. “Our madam is sleeping upstairs. I’ll go wake her up. You can sit and wait. The young master and young lady should be back soon.”
Xie Ning decided to sit and wait for Su Wan to return.
Su’s mother came down the stairs in her pajamas, greeted Xie Ning, and went to wash her face and brush her teeth.
The French chef came out and asked Aunt Zhang something.
He spoke in a mix of French and English and even drew a picture with a pencil.
Aunt Zhang was completely lost, and Xie Ning helped her out, “He’s asking when the flour and ingredients will be available. He needs them now.”
Aunt Zhang looked upset. “Someone went out to buy them, but I don’t know what happened. It’s been so long.”
Xie Ning was stunned. “Who did you send to buy flour?”
Aunt Zhang guiltily touched her nose and didn’t answer Xie Ning.
She walked to the balcony and looked out at the community gate, her expression anxious.
Xie Ning’s anger flared up.
She couldn’t believe that Wanwan had just arrived at the Su family and was already being bossed around by the housekeeper.
How was she supposed to establish herself in this family?
Aunt Zhang looked at the clock and also felt that too much time had passed.
She took out her phone and walked to a corner of the bathroom to call some grocery store owners.
At that moment, the lady of the house came downstairs.
She saw the frustrated chef and a frowning Xie Ning and felt something was strange.
She asked, “What happened? Xie Ning, didn’t Xingheng come back with you?”
“No, we had a small argument after school,” Xie Ning said. “I was worried, so I came to check on them first.”
“It’s nothing. Kids argue all the time. They’ll be back soon, and you’ll make up as soon as you see each other,” Su’s mother said, opening the bathroom door and asking Aunt Zhang, “Where’s Liu Wan?”
Aunt Zhang covered her phone and hesitated.
“I was too busy just now, and I saw she was free, so I asked her to help me buy some things…”
When she said this, Su’s mother didn’t find it strange.
Xie Ning asked, “How long has she been out?”
Su’s mother stared at Aunt Zhang.
Aunt Zhang said, “Almost two hours… There shouldn’t be anything wrong. She’s a grown-up; how could she get lost? The second young lady often goes out alone, too; nothing will happen…”
Su’s mother thought for a moment and said in a gentle voice, “Next time, don’t send her out to buy things. She’s not familiar with this area.”
Aunt Zhang said sullenly, “I was just thinking… I’d give her a little bit of a workout, you know? After all, she’s going to school tomorrow… There’s nothing wrong with getting familiar with the area in advance, right?”
Su’s mother was a simple-minded, kind-hearted woman from a wealthy family with no real-world experience.
She was easily swayed by what people told her.
Although she was a little worried, she accepted what Aunt Zhang said and turned to the chef, speaking to him in fluent French.
The gist was to ask him not to make pizza.
He should use whatever ingredients were available at home so that the two children wouldn’t be hungry when they returned from school.
It was getting dark outside.
Xie Ning couldn’t sit still any longer.
She went out with Aunt Zhang to look for Su Wan, while Su’s mother was more worried about Su Xingheng and Su Jin, who weren’t home yet.
She made two calls, but no one answered.
Aunt Zhang sat in the passenger seat, and Uncle Ling drove the car, following her directions to the grocery stores.
During this time, Aunt Zhang kept complaining, “What could go wrong with buying some flour? This kid is so much trouble!”
Xie Ning rolled her eyes.
She pressed her face against the car window, carefully looking at every person passing by on the street.
She said coldly, “She’s the real young lady of the Su family, and Su Jin is the fake one, isn’t she?”
In the front seat, Uncle Ling was startled by her words and lightly stepped on the brake.
Aunt Zhang was unconcerned.
“The second young lady has been in the Su family for so many years. Our madam loves her the most. How can she stop loving her just because they’re not related by blood? As for the new one, she doesn’t look like our madam’s biological daughter at all.”
Xie Ning was furious.
After everything she went through in her last life, she had become more composed and had a sharper eye for people.
Hearing the housekeeper of the Su family say this, she could pretty much guess what was going on in the Su family.
Su’s mother was a well-educated female Omega.
She seemed smart and elegant and managed the Su family’s affairs in an orderly manner, but in reality, she was easily deceived!
She had unconditional trust in her husband and son and was almost completely obedient to them.
In her last life, even after she found out that Su Wan was her biological daughter, she still refused to accept her and gave all her trust and kindness to the other girl.
Su Wan must have tried to get her mother’s attention.
The car drove a few hundred meters from the community gate, and Xie Ning saw a small figure on the side of the road.
Her breath hitched.
The high beams shone on a small, thin girl squatting on the ground, squinting at their car.
Her features were plain, and she had a messy bob haircut.
Only her almond-shaped eyes were as clear as a rainbow in the sky, ethereal and lonely.
That one look made Xie Ning’s heart clench.
She was wearing a Shihai High School uniform jacket and an ill-fitting pair of striped pants instead of a skirt.
She was so small, squatting on the ground, as if a gust of wind could blow her away.
The spot where she was squatting was so inconspicuous that Aunt Zhang didn’t even notice her.
She was still complaining about something.
Xie Ning couldn’t hear any of it.
She saw Su Wan lower her head, take a handful of flour, and sprinkle it into the air.
When the car lights shone on it, it looked like brilliant starlight.
Xie Ning rolled down the window and called out her name.
“Wanwan!”
Su Wan froze.
She tightened her grip on the flour, and the soft powder escaped from her palm like sand in an hourglass.
She saw a person coming toward her, illuminated from behind.
It was a stunningly beautiful person whom Su Wan had never seen before—someone who looked like they didn’t belong in this world.
