Seducing and Flirting with Boss O While Stockpiling in the Apocalypse (GL) - Chapter 23
Luo Sheng felt a bit frustrated upon entering the space. She had originally intended to bring Nan Shuwan in with her, but after triggering her intent, she was still the only one who entered. Could it be that they both needed to trigger their intent simultaneously to bring the other person in?
Luo Sheng didn’t waste this interval; she hurried to sign in and check the log, then quickly exited the villa.
When she returned to the living room of 1502, she found Nan Shuwan slumped on the sofa, her face deathly pale. Luo Sheng moved toward her with concern to help her up, but the woman suddenly looked terrified, even covering her head with her hands, muttering incessantly, “Don’t come over… Ghost! There’s a ghost!”
At this moment, Nan Shuwan was terrified beyond measure. The things she had suspected before had actually become reality right before her eyes; Luo Sheng had truly vanished into thin air like a phantom, leaving her completely defenseless and caught off guard.
Her brain stalled for a few seconds. When something beyond her cognition manifested before her, extreme fear caused Nan Shuwan’s adrenaline to spike. Her heart pounded wildly, and as she stood frozen for a long time, her body began to go numb until her legs finally gave out and she collapsed onto the sofa.
There was simply no time to think, not even a moment to buffer, before Luo Sheng appeared in front of her once again. Nan Shuwan nearly broke down; the defenses in her mind completely collapsed. She instinctively covered the top of her head, trying to establish a barrier to shut out all these terrifying things.
Unfortunately, it was of no use, though none of the horrific things she imagined actually appeared.
Instead, a warm breath approached Nan Shuwan, and she soon fell into a gentle, half-circling embrace. Luo Sheng’s soft chuckle came from above; she gently stroked the still-shivering Director Nan, her tone teasing yet comforting, “Look closely—could I really be a ghost?”
Hearing the familiar voice, Nan Shuwan felt much more at ease. She covered her eyes and peeked through a tiny gap, stealing a glance upward. Luo Sheng’s features were the same as usual, with no other changes.
She offered a gentle smile, a clear grin that flowed over like bubbling spring water. Nan Shuwan’s frantic and restless heart was thus soothed. She finally calmed down a bit, though her mind was still a jumble.
Luo Sheng instinctively hooked her fingers under the other’s chin, only to see that the beautiful face was stained with a few glistening droplets of water. This was beyond her expectations; her eyelashes fluttered, and she was momentarily stunned…
Had Nan Shuwan actually… been scared to tears?
Realizing this made Luo Sheng feel a bit flustered. Those fox-like eyes, now filled with moisture, held a hint of grievance, and even the corners of her eyes were red. Nan Shuwan let out a muffled, nasally hum, but she made no move to leave the other’s embrace. Her entire body language seemed to say: I need a moment of peace.
Luo Sheng had already let go of her hand, left with no choice but to let her lean there helplessly. After a long while of silence, Nan Shuwan finally patted her own cheeks to snap out of it. Her throat was a bit hoarse, and it took a while before she could ask, “What exactly… is going on?”
She clearly seemed to have suffered quite a shock. Luo Sheng patted Nan Shuwan on the back and poured her a glass of water, then they sat together on the sofa.
She was no longer in the mood for small talk, so Luo Sheng took off the ring she was wearing and placed it in the center of her palm. She wanted to prove it directly to Nan Shuwan by having her witness the things inside the space together; only then would the other person trust her completely.
“Nan Shuwan, if you want to know the truth, trigger your intent. This thing in my hand is a space; try to imagine it, and then enter with me.”
What… what?
Nan Shuwan desperately wanted to process the meaning of Luo Sheng’s words, but she still couldn’t quite wrap her head around it. Luo Sheng didn’t give her another chance to buffer; amidst the other’s bewildered expression, she firmly grabbed Nan Shuwan’s hand in the next instant.
Luo Sheng’s gaze was as sharp as a torch. “Look at it, and follow me in!”
Perhaps because the person before her spoke with such firm resolve, Nan Shuwan actually stared obediently at the emerald ring in Luo Sheng’s hand. She looked at it seriously and meticulously, appearing as if she truly saw an unusual, faint glow emanating from the object. Their hands were tightly gripped together, their palms nearly breaking into a sweat.
Space…
Nan Shuwan was momentarily lost in thought. The moment the idea surfaced in her mind, she felt her body become light, as if she were being sucked into something through a world-spinning sensation. When she regained her focus, Nan Shuwan found herself in a strange environment.
A very large… villa?
She looked around in confusion and found the surroundings packed with all sorts of supplies, but everything was organized neatly into specific zones.
A myriad of questions that could pierce the sky filled her mind, but the words felt as if they were stuck with superglue; her mouth opened and closed for a long time without a single word coming out.
Luo Sheng sat down and, right before her eyes, used her mind to move some supplies near her feet. The items simply floated in mid-air and moved at will. Nan Shuwan’s eyes widened, and she lost even the ability to think.
Seeing her like this, Luo Sheng let out a cough to draw her attention. After a sigh, she began to recount everything that had happened over the past few days in detail.
Half an hour passed before they knew it. Luo Sheng’s throat was dry from talking. With a thought, a bottle of chilled orange juice flew out of the refrigerator. After a few sips, she continued, “Anyway, that’s the gist of it. That day the ring absorbed your blood, which made it so I couldn’t enter the space. Now, only you can help me get in to complete the daily sign-in.”
“I’m not lying to you—the apocalypse is really coming. I can’t leave you now, and I really need your help.” Luo Sheng pointed to the room full of supplies. “As long as you’re willing to travel with me, we can enjoy these things together, and you can live in my house. How about it?”
Nan Shuwan sat obediently and finished listening to Luo Sheng’s output. The volume of information was so massive it caused her brain to run at an overclocked load. She first gave a dazed “Mhm,” then scratched her head and half-leaned back on the sofa with a face full of confusion. “Do you know how I feel right now?”
Luo Sheng: “What?”
“I feel light-headed, wondering if I’ve developed schizophrenia and hallucinated all of this.” Nan Shuwan gave an incredulous smile, feeling as if she were still in a dream.
When something beyond one’s cognition is placed before them, many people tend to fall into self-doubt. Having been educated in materialism since childhood, it was hard to accept these unscientific things all at once. Luo Sheng expressed that she understood perfectly.
Because on the day she was first reborn, she also found it hard to believe she was living once again.
After an unknown amount of time spent processing, Nan Shuwan, who had been leaning on the sofa with a vacant gaze, suddenly perked up. She began to walk around the villa, even going up to the second floor, inspecting Luo Sheng’s supplies inside and out.
Then she stood on the second floor and asked Luo Sheng, “What did you say just now? An apocalyptic flood?”
Luo Sheng nodded slightly. “Yes, a flood.”
Nan Shuwan twisted her neck thoughtfully, still finding it incredible. This weather was clearly as hot as a mid-summer day with the sun shining every day—how could they fall into a torrential downpour without warning…
This is so unscien… The thought barely surfaced before Nan Shuwan forced it back down. What was the point of considering that now? Which part of what was happening wasn’t beyond the scope of science?
At this thought, the doubts in Nan Shuwan’s eyes were gradually replaced by excitement. She hadn’t expected to see something so extraordinary in her lifetime. A single ring could actually hold so many supplies—was this the “alternate space” mentioned in novels?
She was no longer nervous and finally relaxed. “Hearing you say that, it seems I have no choice. If everything you’ve said is true, then I’m completely unprepared. Seeking your protection seems to be my best option at the moment.” With that, Nan Shuwan pointed to the floor full of supplies. “So, your sudden resignation and move, and your mysterious behavior every day—it was all because of this…”
In this moment, all her previous confusion was explained. If the apocalypse was coming, then so-called career prospects were indeed unimportant.
“Yes. Most of the basic supplies are stockpiled now, but there are definitely areas I haven’t considered. Now that you’ve joined, we can use the remaining time to perfect things together.”
After confessing everything to Nan Shuwan, Luo Sheng felt as if a great weight had been lifted from her heart. She finally didn’t have to skulk around trying to hide it. Though this matter was resolved, there was still another…
Thinking of this, Luo Sheng frowned and suddenly looked at Nan Shuwan. “Actually, I have another headache-inducing matter, and I don’t know what to do.”
“What, you want me to help you brainstorm?” Nan Shuwan walked down from the second floor and sat back on the sofa. “Go ahead and tell me.”
Nan Shuwan had returned to her usual composed self. Seeing this, Luo Sheng couldn’t help but smile. “I didn’t expect you to be so accepting.” Having said that, she continued with the business at hand. “Basically, I bought a plane ticket for my mom for tomorrow. To save money, she refuses to come no matter what I say. She’s from the countryside and quite stubborn. If I told her the truth about the apocalypse, she wouldn’t believe it even more; it would just be a waste of time. So now I don’t know what kind of excuse to use to get her here…”
Hearing this, Nan Shuwan also fell into deep thought. Family members definitely had to be brought over. In this moment, she suddenly thought of Nan Chu… her biological younger sister, and her only relative in this world. If the apocalypse was real, she had to find a way to bring Nan Chu over as well.
“Then tell her you’re critically ill and need her to come take care of you?”
“It would have been better if I said that from the start, but just yesterday I had a very vigorous argument with her on the phone… It’s not impossible, but is there a slightly better reason?”
After a moment of silence, as if a spark of inspiration had suddenly flashed in her mind, Nan Shuwan arched her eyebrows and a playful smile curled at her lips. “Aside from health factors, there is one other thing that is most important in the eyes of the older generation…” She stopped there, intentionally keeping her in suspense.
Luo Sheng was a bit anxious. “Just say it.”
The curve of Nan Shuwan’s mouth widened further. “Naturally, life’s major milestones are the most important. How about you say you’re getting married?”
Luo Sheng: “?”
