Seducing and Flirting with Boss O While Stockpiling in the Apocalypse (GL) - Chapter 39
Mao Xue emptied the ash from the ashtray into a trash bag. Seeing the pile of smelly socks on the bedroom floor, another surge of anger hit her. After a few curses, she wanted to call Yan Hua over to clean up immediately, but the man didn’t respond at all, as if he were deaf. Only then did she realize that Yan Hua seemed to have been in the bathroom for a very long time.
She truly didn’t know what on earth he and Zhang Dajiu were up to. Had he fallen into the toilet with his “good brother” and been washed away?
Mao Xue walked back into the living room and picked up the mop. Cursing all the way, she headed toward the bathroom. As she neared the door, she sensed something was wrong—a thick, bloody stench hit her, making her nose wrinkle and her stomach churn.
What is going on…?
Mao Xue was puzzled, but her heart began to race. An uneasy sixth sense made her feel that something terrible was about to happen. All of her body’s protective mechanisms manifested as goosebumps on her arms. In the next second, standing at the door, she witnessed a horrifying scene.
Zhang Dajiu was crouched over Yan Hua, his face buried deep against him. She couldn’t see what he was biting, but the continuous sound of chewing and tearing echoed clearly in the cramped space.
Large pools of blood flowed from Yan Hua’s neck onto the bathroom floor, splashing everywhere. His shirt had long since been soaked through with blood. He lay there silently, letting Zhang Dajiu do as he pleased, save for his elbow, which twitched intermittently.
Mao Xue froze on the spot as if she had fallen into an ice cellar. Her body went numb. At this moment, she couldn’t make a sound. In a state of extreme terror, the brain fails to react, leaving the legs weak and paralyzed.
It wasn’t until the mop in her hand hit the floor with a loud clatter.
Zhang Dajiu’s movements stiffened. He suddenly looked up, his mouth surrounded by blood-red stains, still biting a piece of mangled flesh.
He was gasping low in his throat, letting out a hoarse roar like a wild beast. His pupils were entirely white, his eyeballs shot through with blue veins, as if he had completely lost all human consciousness—driven only by a bloodthirsty instinct.
Mao Xue’s limbs went weak. Purple-lipped and terrified, she collapsed to the ground. Once she regained her senses, she flipped over and scrambled frantically toward the door. However, Zhang Dajiu was faster. The moment her hand touched the doorknob, he pounced on her.
Following that, a piercing scream rang out, echoing through the entire floor.
Luo Sheng’s hand slipped while cutting meat, accidentally slicing the surface of her finger. A bead of blood immediately welled up at the tip, and she quickly put it in her mouth to suck on it.
It was just a small wound, no big deal, but Luo Sheng was usually very skilled with a knife. This sudden injury felt like an omen. She felt inexplicably uneasy but couldn’t put a finger on it, so she simply brushed it off.
Nan Shuwan had just put her bowl down and immediately pinched her earlobe; the dish was too hot, leaving her fingertips a bit red.
As the aroma of steamed ribs with taro wafted over, Nan Chu couldn’t resist reaching out to grab one with her fingers, but her hand was slapped by Luo Sheng. “Dirty. Use chopsticks.”
She withdrew her hand listlessly, thinking this person acted exactly like a stern head of a household. Soon, Luo Xiaoli laid out the side dishes on the table while Luo Sheng brought out a grill with glowing charcoal underneath.
With all the raw vegetables ready, Luo Sheng distributed small dishes of sauce to the others. She placed a sheet of parchment paper on the grill, brushed on several layers of oil, and laid out the marinated pork belly and beef.
“I haven’t had Korean BBQ in forever; I’ve been craving this!” Nan Chu cracked open a beer and poured it into a glass. “BBQ has to be paired with alcohol, otherwise it’s a waste!”
Luo Sheng flipped the meat with her chopsticks. The meat sizzled on the grill, the aroma of fat filling the air, activating the cravings in Nan Shuwan’s stomach. Her eyes lit up with anticipation. Luo Sheng glanced at her and then placed a cooked, thin slice of beef into her bowl.
Nan Shuwan smiled and said thank you, then took a piece of lettuce to wrap it up. After dipping it in the sauce, she stuffed the whole thing into her mouth. The aroma of the grilled meat filled her senses, leaving her immensely satisfied.
Nan Chu gave a “tsk,” muttering inwardly about the blatant favoritism.
Seeing how much Nan Shuwan was enjoying it, she couldn’t help but grab a few pieces for herself. Pork and beef were mixed on a single lettuce leaf, wrapped with garlic and onion, and shoved into her mouth. Eating big mouthfuls of meat was truly refreshing.
Nan Chu called out in satisfaction and took a swig of beer. With the two combined, she felt she was living a god-like life, completely forgetting she was in a resource-scarce apocalypse.
Luo Xiaoli helped place the vegetables on the grill. She rarely ate BBQ this way; back home, she would just fry pork belly in a pan to render the lard, using the remaining cracklings to stir-fry vegetables, which she felt was even tastier. However, trying new things with the young people wasn’t a bad idea.
Luo Sheng also indulged in a few drinks. The alcohol went straight to her face; she wasn’t actually drunk, but her face turned a shade of red like white paper soaked in cinnabar. Her usually cool temperament was replaced by a soft, approachable air, her eyes shimmering with a watery light as if covered by a thin mist.
Nan Shuwan couldn’t help but steal several glances at Luo Sheng. This side of her was rare, beautiful with a touch of feminine charm—very different from the usual Luo Sheng. The woman already fit her aesthetic perfectly, and now she found it hard to look away.
Especially after dinner, when Luo Sheng nearly fell against her. The woman’s steps were slightly floaty, and she felt as soft as a piece of pastry. When she spoke, there was a hint of a mumble: “Sorry…”
Nan Shuwan’s eyes curved, her long, narrow eyes revealing a flicker of unusual emotion. She lowered her voice, her tone light. “Didn’t you say you weren’t drunk?”
Drunk?
She had just gotten carried away drinking with Nan Chu. She hadn’t indulged like this in a long time; her face was red, but she certainly wasn’t drunk!
Luo Sheng straightened her back to prove to Nan Shuwan that nothing was wrong. However, leaning on the other’s shoulder, they were momentarily very close. She smelled that faint floral scent again; the fragrance seemed more intoxicating than the wine.
She really wanted… wanted to sniff it a bit more.
Ideally, she would bury her face in that slender neck and let the rich fragrance envelop her. An Omega’s scent was too attractive to her—especially Nan Shuwan’s. At this moment, Luo Sheng remembered the suppressants Nan Chu had mentioned. If an Alpha becomes too obsessed with an Omega’s scent, they will generate “Affectionate Pheromones”—the beginning of desire…
Was this too terrible? Luo Sheng didn’t understand it and didn’t want to think about it anymore. Her face flushed, she shook her head. “I have a decent tolerance. Don’t look down on me.”
Then, under Nan Shuwan’s skeptical gaze, she hooked her fingers and led her into the space.
The weather inside the villa was sunny as always. The vegetables planted last week were mature again. Under the bright sunshine, the slight lightheadedness in Luo Sheng’s brain dissipated significantly. She picked up a hoe, harvested a portion of the crop, and moved it into the corner of the villa with her mind.
As she entered, she saw Nan Shuwan looking at the sign-in area with a puzzled expression. She walked up behind her and glanced at it. “What’s wrong?”
Nan Shuwan turned around and pointed ahead. “It’s a bit strange. Is there a new function next to the palm print?”
Luo Sheng looked and found that there was indeed a strange new addition. She hadn’t looked closely during her sign-in just now. Leaning in, she saw a graphic—was it a house?
Below it was a row of small, fluorescent text: Does the owner wish to enable Materialization? The buttons were labeled “Yes” and “No.”
Today happened to be Luo Sheng’s 70th day of signing in. she had added another point of Strength to herself, but she hadn’t expected this new function. She didn’t quite understand what it meant, and why did the 3D model of the house look so much like a miniature version of her villa?
Nan Shuwan, however, seemed to understand. “Materialization? If we understand it literally, does it mean this villa space can be moved into the real world?”
Luo Sheng had a sudden realization; it could indeed be understood that way. She hesitated for a moment, then clicked the “Yes” button.
In an instant, every line of the house model emitted a golden light, spinning rapidly in mid-air. Luo Sheng’s finger on the button established a connection; her whole body shuddered as if a current were passing through her.
The tiny virtual house gradually dissipated, turning into digital information that began to transmit along Luo Sheng’s meridians. Streaks of golden light swirled around Luo Sheng’s arm. Nan Shuwan watched this miraculous scene in awe until finally, a golden mark was branded around Luo Sheng’s wrist.
It looked like a tattoo, circling the wrist like a bracelet. Simultaneously, a progress bar appeared next to it, reading: Current Materialization Transmission Progress: 5%.
Luo Sheng inspected the mark closely, her expression full of joy. It seemed this meant that once the progress bar reached 100%, she could summon the physical space at any time.
However, this function seemed useless for the moment. Luo Sheng was about to say something to Nan Shuwan when she heard someone calling her name urgently. The voice sounded like Nan Chu?
The two locked eyes and immediately exited the space.
Nan Chu had sent Luo Xiaoli to rest and continued cleaning up the remains of the meal herself. Those two had disappeared somewhere after eating; unable to find them, she assumed they had gone to the space again. She grumbled a bit, feeling like a domestic worker.
She put the trash in a bag and, as usual, opened the door to throw it outside. Trash was now consolidated on the flooded seventh floor. However, Nan Chu felt something was wrong after only walking down a few steps.
Why is it so noisy?
The further down she went, the more she could hear a commotion and screams. But such things happened every day lately—either someone was dying of a high fever or owners living together were fighting. Nan Chu was somewhat used to it.
But today seemed unusual. Her sense of smell was quite keen; the thick scent of blood in the stairwell mixed with the stench of domestic waste made her feel like vomiting.
When she reached the ninth floor, Nan Chu was completely stunned. The walls were covered in a mess of scarlet—bloody handprints were everywhere. Turning her head, she saw Qiao Bai holding a wooden stick, standing there looking terrified and covered in filth. Behind her was her shivering girlfriend.
Qiao Bai was trembling all over. She raised the wooden stick and shouted at Nan Chu, “Run!”
Nan Chu hadn’t fully reacted when, in the next second, she saw two figures in the stairwell below let out low, hoarse growls. Their bodies were twisted at eerie angles, and their clothes were torn to shreds. They opened their blood-filled mouths and, with white eyeballs, were charging toward them at a terrifying speed.
