The Alluring Boss O's Slacker A (Transmigration GL) - Chapter 9
“Take care of you” was far too much for her to accept.
For an instant, Wen Jin could not quite hold the expression on her face and rolled her eyes.
She turned her face sideways, unwilling to give up, and looked at Ruan Tingzhi. “StarNet ID ‘Ruan Tingzhi’?”
Ruan Tingzhi also turned her face to look back at her. As if confirming it by default, she nodded, then took out her phone, pulled up their earlier text messages, and handed it to Wen Jin to see.
Inside the social app’s chat window were the messages Wen Jin and her new roommate had exchanged just a few minutes ago. Both witness and physical evidence were present. It was undoubtedly her.
Wen Jin raised a hand and rubbed the space between her brows very hard.
It was not that she was afraid of Ruan Tingzhi. In fact, she was not affected by Ruan Tingzhi’s pheromones at all, nor had she participated in the plot of bullying Ruan Tingzhi.
The only thing Wen Jin feared was trouble.
She had to recuperate quietly. In the past, during work, she had gone years without rest. The knowledge stored in her mind was far too vast and complicated, causing her mental strength to remain under long-term high pressure. Her whole person was exhausted.
Grinding had injured her foundation.
That was why Wen Jin had chosen to retire. Her original intention was to avoid emotional fluctuations as much as possible and stay away from trouble and noise.
She did not even want to act out the plot, yet she had not expected that, by some strange twist of fate, she would still become entangled with the female lead O.
Living together with Ruan Tingzhi was worse than going back and making do with the scummy A Luo Xi.
“I suddenly remembered that I forgot to bring down one piece of luggage.” Wen Jin lied without changing expression.
“At the restaurant earlier, I heard you say your hands were sore.” Ruan Tingzhi lowered her eyes. A strand of sunlight filtered through the mottled leaves and fell onto her thick lashes, coating even her black eyes in a hazy layer.
She looked extremely gentle.
Wen Jin heard Ruan Tingzhi say to her very naturally, “I’ll get it for you.”
There was nothing wrong with those words. Aside from being a grind king and handling things in a stiff, by-the-book way, the female lead O was mostly kind and innocent.
Their eyes met, and for a moment, Wen Jin did not know how to put on a rejecting expression.
She coughed. “Actually, I…”
The words of refusal got stuck in her throat when Ruan Tingzhi’s phone suddenly rang.
The girl politely cast Wen Jin an apologetic smile, then answered the call right in front of Wen Jin without hiding or avoiding anything.
“Teacher Li…”
…
“Mm, I’ve done the investigation. The students have a high approval rate for the new school rules, but some students reported…”
…
“Article 320 of the school rules… Starting from this semester, each student only has one chance to apply for a dormitory change. Can this rule be abolished? One time isn’t quite enough for the students.”
As Ruan Tingzhi spoke, she gave Wen Jin a faint, almost imperceptible look.
Then Wen Jin heard Director Li on the other end of the phone reject Ruan Tingzhi’s suggestion mercilessly.
Wen Jin silently found a shady spot and stood still. Her eyelids drooped, and there was no extra expression on her face.
In truth, she was fighting an internal battle, weighing the possibility of running away.
There were currently thirty thousand Federation coins in her account. That was more than enough to buy an interstellar spaceship ticket from StarNet and fly far away.
But then another problem came. The origin of this money was out in the open. It was the salary the botanical garden had advanced to her. It had gone through StarNet’s interstellar universal account. If she ran away with the money early, her personal information would be magnified on StarNet, she would be blacklisted across the entire network, and she would be saddled with a fairly serious breach-of-contract lawsuit.
Running away clearly would not work either.
With no choice left, she could only take one step at a time.
On the other side, Ruan Tingzhi had hung up the phone at some unknown point.
Wen Jin lifted her eyes, brushed away the hair sticking to her face, and cast her gaze over.
The silly little sweet flower stood properly to the side with good manners, lifting her chin and showing a bright smile, quietly waiting for Wen Jin’s reply.
At present, nothing had happened yet. It would not be right to vent her emotions on a pitiful little thing who knew nothing and had done nothing bad. So Wen Jin softened her tone and said, “Let’s go. It wasn’t anything important anyway.”
Wen Jin lazily pushed the suitcase with the intact right wheel to Ruan Tingzhi’s feet and calmly changed the subject. “The suitcase is pretty heavy. If you can’t lift it…”
“Don’t worry, don’t worry. Our Zhi Zhi can carry a cauldron. Two suitcases? To her, she could lift them with one hand.” A voice suddenly cut in from behind them.
Wen Jin gave a small sound of surprise and lifted her head. She saw Ruan Tingzhi’s doe eyes narrow slightly. Today, Ruan Tingzhi wore a goose-yellow long dress that made her legs look long and set off her skin, making her appear even more innocent and harmless. Only now, the curve of her lips had faded.
The girl whose voice had arrived before she did walked closer. She wore an all-black sun-protective outfit. A sun hat covered her ear-length short hair tightly, and a black mask hung over her ears, leaving only her round eyes exposed.
Her clothing was even more exaggerated: a sun jacket, black leather pants, and even black dustproof gloves over her hands.
She pulled down one corner of her mask, revealing a wheat-colored face, and greeted Wen Jin with a grin. “Holy shit. A great beauty. How come I’ve never seen you before?”
Wan Shishi extended a hand toward her with a smile.
She was an Alpha, and her pheromones smelled a little like traditional Chinese medicine.
After sizing her up, Wen Jin was close enough that the faint Chinese medicinal scent in the female Alpha’s sweat drifted past her nose. The irritability Wen Jin had felt earlier in the café returned.
Fortunately, Ruan Tingzhi was standing nearby. Perhaps her pheromone purity was superior to the sun-hat girl’s, because it did not smell aggressive.
Without changing expression, Wen Jin shifted an inch toward Ruan Tingzhi, completely failing to notice the curve of Ruan Tingzhi’s lips beside her.
Wan Shishi, however, did catch that ghostly pure smile. A female Beta who had been targeted by the little Ruan family head—whether this was luck or misfortune, she did not know.
With immense sympathy, she took Wen Jin’s hand and politely shook it. “Beautiful Sister, Wan Shishi. Nice to meet you.”
Wen Jin did not want to develop connections, so she answered perfunctorily.
Withdrawing her hand, she looked Ruan Tingzhi over again. “Someone you know?”
“More or less.” Ruan Tingzhi introduced her. “My classmate. I dragged her here to help move your luggage.”
“Then your social connections are pretty good,” Wen Jin evaluated fairly.
Wan Shishi took the suitcase beside Ruan Tingzhi’s foot. As if she had done this kind of thing many times before, she very naturally held the suitcase handle with one hand.
She could not help looking at Wen Jin again. Perhaps Wen Jin’s expression as she lazily leaned beneath the shade of the tree was too languid and casual, and her temperament was truly stunning.
Wan Shishi nudged Ruan Tingzhi’s arm with her elbow. “Zhi Zhi, your friend doesn’t have a partner, right? Do you think it’d be suitable for me to pursue her?”
Ruan Tingzhi gave Wan Shishi a glance. “She’s standing right in front of you. Perhaps you can ask her yourself.”
“Good suggestion.” Wan Shishi gave her sister a thumbs-up and was just about to repeat what she had said to Wen Jin. In the next second, she saw Ruan Tingzhi hook the strap of her slanted little square bag with a finger and take out a notebook from inside.
On the red notebook cover were the words: Discipline Office Violation Record Form.
Wan Shishi was instantly speechless. “No way. Looking for a girlfriend counts as violating the rules too?”
Ruan Tingzhi curled the corners of her lips. “It doesn’t.”
Then she looked back at Wen Jin, who was about to fall asleep. Her words, however, were directed at the energetic Wan Shishi. “Don’t you think she wouldn’t be interested in someone like you? Too noisy. In case you become dissatisfied and intend to force her, I can take this out in time and write you up.”
Wan Shishi could not help rolling her eyes several times in a row. “…”
Then she heard Ruan Tingzhi lower her voice and say, “Wait a few more years. Right now isn’t suitable.”
Wan Shishi froze, then obediently shut her mouth.
In truth, she had only been unable to resist running her mouth and itching to tease when she saw a pretty older sister.
In another half a year, she would be going to the legion with Ruan Tingzhi. Now was indeed not a suitable time to start a relationship.
She knew perfectly well that the family head was reminding her to know when to stop. But judging by Ruan Tingzhi’s tone, this ancestor was clearly in a terrible mood today. Who knew who had provoked her?
Wen Jin unscrewed a bottle of functional water and took a sip, planning to calm down. Hearing the two of them talk, she was amused.
She curled her lips and saw Ruan Tingzhi put the notebook back into the little square bag in a proper, serious manner. The exposed stretch of her lowered neck was slender and fragile, her skin like a white peony—pretty and clean, but far too rigid-minded.
This made Wen Jin, a salted fish who was trying to retire but encountered setbacks everywhere and now had to receive the little white flower’s sincere but unnecessary attempts at help, develop a rebellious impulse.
Wen Jin lazily gathered her full head of granny-gray long curls with a hair tie, tying them loosely and casually.
She raised her brows, turned her long, slender swan-like neck toward Ruan Tingzhi, and said, “How can you tell I’m hard to pursue?”
“If you don’t try, how would you know?”
That gaze went straight toward Ruan Tingzhi. In those cool peach-blossom eyes was worldly laziness, vanishing stingily after a single blink and leaving behind no trace of affection.
For some reason, Ruan Tingzhi heard the pheromones in her blood let out a sighing moan.
She froze at first. Then the pheromones cheering and leaping joyfully in her veins surged outward almost uncontrollably, and her legs suddenly went weak.
Ruan Tingzhi nearly slid down along the suitcase, unable to restrain herself.
However, before Ruan Tingzhi successfully slid to the ground, there was a thud from the right. The cool, lazy Wen Jin suddenly seemed to have fallen asleep and toppled straight toward her.
Wan Shishi reacted quickly and pasted five blocking patches onto Ruan Tingzhi. Only then did she see Wen Jin, who had collapsed onto Ruan Tingzhi’s shoulder.
Then the end of her voice warped. “Huh? …Is she in heat?”
Ruan Tingzhi forced herself to remain calm and asked back, “Can you smell pheromones on her?”
Wan Shishi sniffed with the tip of her nose and shook her head.
“That’s not right. She’s a Beta?”
Wan Shishi found it somewhat unbelievable. “Zhi Zhi, is it because you…”
Halfway through, she denied the idea herself and swallowed the rest back.
Just now, because Ruan Tingzhi’s body had been stirred into some adult female reaction, her pheromones had not been controlled and had become agitated.
Only one wisp of lavender had leaked into the air before it was quickly forced back down.
Wan Shishi was an Alpha with A-rank mental strength, yet even she had not been affected.
Instead, Wen Jin, a Beta with low mental strength who should hardly be disturbed by pheromones at all, had fainted.
It was truly strange.
Taking ten thousand steps back, even if Ruan Tingzhi’s pheromones were special, during her previous differentiation, when she had deliberately released her pheromone domain, she had not been able to do anything to Wen Jin.
Now that Wen Jin had collapsed, the cause was naturally unknown.
Ruan Tingzhi said nothing. In truth, she was not feeling well at all in this wave.
Wen Jin’s head was resting in the hollow of her shoulder.
Her warm breath unconsciously brushed against the gland on Ruan Tingzhi’s neck.
Ruan Tingzhi’s heart trembled. She bit the tip of her tongue and circulated her ancient martial arts mental cultivation method. Only then did she barely support the weight of this woman with the slender waist and long legs, who had thrown her soft, pliant body entirely onto her.
A gust of wind blew past. The hair tie on the woman’s head loosened, and her granny-gray long curls scattered over her shoulders. One strand lifted with the wind and drifted into Ruan Tingzhi’s mouth. With moist doe eyes, Ruan Tingzhi took a breath and, with a ruthless hand, jabbed herself with a strengthening injection.
After doing this, she used a voice that was almost distorted and ordered Wan Shishi behind her, “Send her to the hospital. A hospital under the Ruan family.”
